1. Well it worked but not without some issues although the move went well and Vortex saw all my mods and with a tweak on location folders there were no major problems, the only thing I noticed was even though Vortex maintained the activated state of my mods, when I went to the plugin page all my plugins were in a deactivated state. So I simply reactivated them manually and things worked with out a hitch. Thanks again.
2. Thank you very much, I appreciate the response, My system bricked during a system restore it hung up in the registry apparently a common issue with Win10 Pro, so I reinstalled a lot sooner than I expected, my drive was useless because the boot loader was corrupted so the installation media couldn't use it. So I had to take my spare drive and empty it out and use that, thankfully it worked and the drive with the games and vortex is fine. I placed my original drive in the external case and with some effort was able to access the data so this information you gave me is very useful. Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week. J
3. My question is not answered anywhere in the stickies or wiki that I could find. I'm presently moving towards reinstalling my Windows 10 Pro and this is going to be a huge process because I have so much on my system. One of the things I'm fortunate with is my games, mods and Vortex and it's folders are on a separate internal drive so they will remain intact. My question is, is it possible to create a Vortex Profile and use it to reinstall my mods after I get Steam reinstalled and pointed to my games? Or, am i making it too complicated, and is there an easier way to do what I'm needing to do? When you create a profile where is it saved and how? Anyhow you get the gist of my situation, any advise or information would be appreciated. Thanks, John
4. Hello Folks I hope someone sees this and can help me. I've been looking for information on how to generate LOD files for Structures, I have a couple of Large House mods and want them to be seen in the distance, but the only information I can find is for generating World Space LOD for New Worlds and large landscapes, trees, mountains etc.. There is absolutely no info on structural LOD generation or creation that I can find for Creation Kit use. I've found some for CAD and other 3d creation software but not for Bethesda Games or Creation Kit use. NEXUS has a couple of very useful LOD generation mods but they also seem to only be for landscape. If anyone has information on this process or can point to someplace that has it, I would appreciate it a great deal. Thanks, J
5. OK here is an update that does not bode well for Microsoft and Bethesda. Using WinDbg I have found the issue is centered around Windows kernel not being able to identify the time signature of the Killer 2500 driver according to the in depth information in WinDbg. For a while I was sure i needed to remove the on board adapter and go with an external one to see if the issue persists, but. Just the other day, my AMD graphics card updated it's driver with the newest Radeon software and driver there is. When I rebooted form the installation Windows went BSOD. I ran WinDbg and lo and behold the very same error appeared for the new graphics driver. Originally I was running version 1800 series Win10Pro and although it would BSOD from time to time I was able to play FO4 for many hours with out issue. I have tons of dated and timed screen shots to prove that fact. Not too long ago I upgraded my system to Win10Pro 1900 series and that's when the BSODS became more frequent and almost always in FO4 and FO76. Now there have been other BSODs with minor errors but there were basic explanations for them and they don't happen very often. I am convinced the issue lies in Windows 10 and the FO4 engine and not in my system, every possible thing that could be causing it due to hardware is not possible as I have checked all components and updated every driver as well as the bios and have run every possible test there is for the hardware. To qualify this statement this is the tenth computer I have built over the years for my self, and never have I ever had such an issue as persistent on any of them as this one. The only common denominators are Win10 and Fallout 4/76 that are causing the issue. I can't say why but I know that perhaps there is something with the constant updating of Creation Club and the FO4 engine in relationship to Win10 but that doesn't explain why Win10 had the same issue with the Radeon driver. It hasn't happened since so I can't say why. Many other people are having this problem, and they are getting the same schlock answers from people who just won't admit they have no clue why or that perhaps Windows 10 has a problem, from Windows techs. Unfortunately as it is, I can no longer play FO4 or FO76 I can set a clock to how long it takes for either game to BSOD with the same error. Skyrim SE plays fine no issues, I can even play FO3 FONV and many other graphic intensive games like Devil May Cry 5 and others and never see this issue. Oh well. Game on!
6. Hey guys, I've been experimenting with Affinity with a couple of companions, and I've been able to get the affinity system to increase and decrease it's integers with the Likes Dislikes Hates Loves system and still play the game with no issues while my companions will post their messages of hate love likes and dislikes. I know the next step in all of this is to create the conditions and move the character through the affinity system and stages with conversations to either hate or love in relation to the integer created by the system, Max Number Love, Min Number Hate. My question is, is it possible by using the conditions available to simply bypass all the middle stuff and invoke the conditions of Hate when companion reaches lowest number or Love when they reach highest number henceforth invoking the messages and perks at the highest, or loss of companion at the lowest with minimal dialogue, and use of only those conditions and stages for, Love and Hate? Therefor bypassing friend, admiration disdain etc... It seems to me since this is all just programing using conditions and numbers I don's see why not, but I'm not exactly sure how . If anyone understands what I'm saying (cause I barely do  ) any thoughts or ideas or experience in trying to do this would be appreciated. Thanks J
7. OK so the issue was made worse with the newest Win10 Pro Upgrade Version 1903 (go figure). I went ahead and attempted the fix. Nothing I could do that was suggested would allow me to make the changes needed in the final operation. I changed permissions as well as used a permission script in the Windows Power Shell (Admin) provided by Saujanya, and even though I was able to get to the last Properties area to add the permissions I could not add the needed information to apply the fix. If anyone of you has the savvy and I'm guessing you do DjinnKiller. Here are the links to the information needed to apply the fix. You need to read both of them. More info for changing permissions in the registry are in the second link. https://www.howto-connect.com/event-id-10016-distributedcom-windows-10-error/ https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/50926.windows-component-services-troubleshooting-unable-to-edit-dcom-security-permissions.aspx This issue is a rampant Windows 10 issue as I mentioned before and the more I searched using the term EventID 10016 DCOM, I found that DCOM has other errors causing very similar issues. If you do search this do not go to the Windows Forums every tech on them is handing out the same BS that is not fixing the issues. Good Luck, I haven't given up yet.
8. Hey folks I was testing a couple of my Companions in process and decided to start a new game. This time I played as a male character. When I dismissed my companion, the message came up that she was going back to her point of origin, no settlement list. I though it was the companion so I checked the CK and found nothing unusual. When I went in game at a later time I played as my Fem character and found that the settlement list was working fine with the same companion. So a day later I went in game and played as my male character and dismissed one of my other companions and the same thing happened. SO the question is, what would cause the dismissal settlement wheel to work with a female player but not a male player with custom companions and is this even possible. I am not aware of any variables that would cause this problem. Any incite to this issue would be much appreciated. J
9. OK I was able to stop the BSODS by changing graphic settings a bit, and they stopped, But now the system is still doing the same thing without the BSOD and locking up with the same buzz it was making when it would BSOD. I went ahead and checked Even Log and the same issue that appears several times just before the crash each time it does this is as follows. Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM Date: 8/31/2019 1:40:39 PM Event ID: 10016 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: Redacted Computer: Redacted Description: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820} and APPID {8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820} to the user REDACTED from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_10.0.17134.1_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-350187224-1905355452-1037786396-3028148496-2624191407-3283318427-1255436723). Several fixes exist but are fairly complicated although I can do them I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is not use to kicking around in the registry and administrative settings of Windows. If you search the error message you'll find what I'm talking about. After what I've read today and the consistency of this error occurring in multiple instances on the event log just before the crashes. I'd safely say this could very well be the cause. I won't know until I apply the fix.
10. Over the last few months I've encountered this error twice in the CK, with ingame scripts. Usually when I'm working on a mod that uses ingame scripts I will verify the fragment or script with the creation kit, usually in quest dialogue to make sure I have it right. Today I encountered the error again so went to my Steam backup folder and verified the issue was the same as before. For some reason every time FO4 updates, the source files for the game are removed from the Script folder. In the past people have said just use the rar file or the zip file where they are kept. Well I didn't have the rar/zip file the first time it happened so i used my Steam backup folder. Here's what you do if you encounter the error "Failed To Load Fragments" in the creation kit. If you have a backup Steam folder go to Fallout 4, chances are the source files will be there. Verify your folders in both installations of FO4. If you do not have a backup Steam installation, then you will need this tool Bethesda Archive Extractor, so far it's the best tool for extracting Beth Archives easy to use and will work for SSE, Skyrim and FO4 Open the tool, go to your FO4 data folder and find Fallout4--Misc.BA2 Drag and drop the file in to the tool. Look for the scripts folder, move on to the next procedure. Go to, Data/Scripts/Source You will see the folders Base DLC01 DLC02 DLC03 DLC04 DLC05 DLC06 User Ignore User If your using the tool I would suggest , extracting the folders to a separate location as a backup because I will guarantee the files will be removed again at some time in the future. It's happened to me twice already. Open the folders in both your data folder and the extracted folder First open Base, in both you will see the folders, Creation Club Fragments Hardcore Ignore the Creation Club folder if you don't have mods from it. compare the two folders Verify what's missing in your Base folder. If all the loose files are missing, copy and paste them in to the Base folder. I personally prefer to do the loose files then open the folders and do them separately, that's up to you. Next open the folder Fragments you will see Packages Perks Quests Scenes Terminals TopicInfos Open each folder and compare them to the extracted folders, if the folder is empty then copy and paste the files from the extracted folder to the empty folder. Do the same for each folder. Now go back to Base and open Hardcore and do the same. All the DLC folders have their zip files in them. if they are missing move them as well, so you at least have them if you need to extract them. That's it now if you go in to the CK all the in game fragments will load. Hope this helps. j
11. Di3sIrae Yeah my rams good, FO4 is the only game that does this. As I said, I run more demanding games than FO4 and never have an issue. DjinnKiller Yeah I checked my event logs almost ever time and the only thing I could see seemed unrelated to FO4 or anything that could be connected, the event has something to do with a Microsoft Application that runs in the background, there have been other events but the one I mentioned is the most consistent one. Any searches I've done on that event have been pretty useless information. Next time it happens I'll post the info. In fact I'm going to play today so as soon as it BSODs, since I know it will, I'll post the info. As far as malware I only run them periodically to scan my system and keep them off the rest of the time except for Windows defender security, I guess I could check it to make sure It only runs when I invoke it. God I Hate Windows, I've been using it since 3.0 you would think the BSOD would be a thing of the past. I don't overclock, not something I do. Running the Windows Performance Monitor is a good idea and I'll go ahead and run process tracking as well, good suggestion. As far as my PSU, I believe it is a Corsair, I built the system, it has a 750 watt unit I'll look at it today and see. I'm also looking at the ware you suggested WHiNFO I'll give it a shot. Thanks  Moksha8088 By resetting your BIOs could you give a little more specifics, that may be something I'll try if nothing else pans out. Thanks for all the info this helps a lot.
12. I'll get the cod I'll get the code next time it happens, it's always the same, any information related to that code points to ram but it's not my ram, makes me wonder if I have too much ram for the game and need to tweek the ini file to compensate. I know that was a problem with FONV and 3. I'll get all the answers along with the code and post them, at the same time. Good point, thanks.
13. OK so I've been looking all over the internet for an answer to why this is happening and a solution, but outside of the typical check your CPU, your Ram, Your GPU Driver there seems to be no one who actually knows why this is happening. There are a lot of people who are experiencing this issue and very few people including Microsoft and Bethesda who know why it's actually happening. My FO4 has 107 mods installed and most of them are low demand mods as far as graphics go. The biggest mystery is, this does not happen with any other game I have and I play a lot of games some of them are pretty demanding games graphically. My GPU is up to date and my system tests out when ever I check ram speed/temp and CPU speed and temp. There are no issues as far as any of my hardware, The problem has to be with FO4, it's the only thing I can come up with, but no one seems to know why. If anyone else having this issue has any knowledge or experience with this problem please comment on it maybe if enough of us compare specs and experience with this issue we can come up with a reason for it and or a fix. interesting to note it seems to happen at any given moment, I can be in a multi fire fight with a s#*! load of raiders guns blazing and the game looks and plays fine, but suddenly if I'm just standing still or in a low action environment, situation it will BSOD! So it seems it has nothing to do with demand on GPU or RAM. Anyhow any ideas or comments on your own experience with this would be appreciated. MY System Specs: ProcessorIntel i7-7700k 4.2ghz 4 cores 8 threadsMemory16gig DDR4MotherboardGiga-Byte Z270-Gaming K3Graphics Card:AMD Radeon XFX RX-580 8gig DDR5 ThanksJ
14. OK here is the solution to this problem for anyone who comes through this thread. The CK script editor is not looking for the scripts in Data\Scripts\Source\Scripts it wants them to be in Data\Source\Scripts so when you extract the Scripts.zip make sure that's where the scripts go and the errors will go away and you will be able to create new and edit existing scripts with no errors. The issue was caused by naming the zip file scripts so it placed the data in the scripts folder instead of the source folder. DUH!!!!!
15. I'm going to necro this cause after reading through everything, every fix there is on this issue doens't apply to my situation. The file is actually Scripts.zip. the scripts are in the right place and the CK is still throwing this error. I verified the script I'm trying to extend is most definitely in the data\scripts\source folder and the CK is auto loading it's name for extension and yet the CK claims that it does not exist. And yes I'm running the CK as admin, whenever I create scripts in FO4CK I have no problems creating new ones and editing them. SO it seems the issue is a little more than a zip/rar file fix. Oh and this is the Skyrim SE CK that's giving me this error. I hope someone has an answer to this issue. I sure would like to finish my work.
16. OK after starting a new game, playing was fine until my save number increased, After the past couple of days my game load time and waiting time increased, then suddenly Skyrim SE started crashing and the crashes increased. After thinking what could be the problem. I finally decided to close Vortex and run SKSE64 directly from my desktop instead of from Vortex. The slow loading stopped and the crashes went away. I hate to say it but if you are having the same problem, don't run your game from Vortex, I know people are going to jump on this and defend the application, but my assessment at this point is that it's a competent app for organizing and installing mods but integration with apps like SKSE, FNIS, etc.. still leaves something to be desired. All I know is when process of elimination fixes something it pretty much proves the point. I eliminated Vortex from the game playing and the issues went away, Game loads went back to normal and not one crash after 3 hours of playing. Point in fact the issues started happening after the last Vortex update. Like it or not, Vortex was the problem.
17. Thanks that did the trick I just deleted my saves and started over. So far so good,
18. What are you talking about? "steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Mopy" is the installation folder of WryeBash I know but Vortex placed SKSE in that folder don't ask me why but it did. Once I changed the destination in Vortex to the correct folder the error went away. That's how I found the problem by checking Vortex's installation information of SKSE. and that's how I knew it was pointing to the wrong folder. 20 years of troubleshooting computers and software has taught me anything is possible never leave any stone un-turned. When I looked in that folder I saw WryBash so I thought it odd that Vortex choose that folder for SKSE. That fixed the error for me. End of line. J
19. Thanks, did you delete your old saves before starting a new game?
20. Well I found all the files in the scripts.rar file and they are in the misc.bsa file, the complete list is there so that can't be the cause of the problem. back to square one.
21. If you're using Vortex it's using the wrong folder to identify it's location it places it in steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Mopy go in and tell it manually to look in steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition. That fixed it for me.
22. Ok so after reinstalling my mods with Vortex my SSE played very well and there were no issues, then suddenly out of the blue my game started to show signs of long loads between cells, not an uncommon issue but the difference was the screen goes dark, then the load screen starts then the audio from the new cell kicks in then the screen goes black an loads after the audio is playing for a few moments. Also when I use the wait function, after I press enter the screen freezes for a few moments then the wait function kicks in, never in all of the years playing Skyrim has that ever happened in my games. Now I was in Solitude after doing the local quests I headed to the Blue Palace to start the Wolf Cave Quest and when I left the Palace, Carlotta Valentia is standing out side the palace and hands me her single mother line. So I go in to my saves delete the last two and re-enter the palace cell and speak to Falk and when I turn around there is Carlotta standing in the palace. WTF! So I leave the game. Go to Falrim tools and proceed to clean the last save of orphaned scripts which there were four of. Start the the game all is fine except when I restart the Blue Palace quest there's Carlotta in all her glory. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share them. at this point I'll try anything, I'm not beyond deleting all my saves and starting over as this is probably my 50th play through, but I'm not sure that will do any good. One thing I can share is when I installed Vortex I used the NMM purge tool and later found that when I tried to compile scripts in CKFO4 I got an error which I was able to fix, the issue was NMM Purge had wiped out all the files from the script.rar that had been placed in the Data\Scripts\Source\Base folder once I replaced them from a backup I had on an external drive my CK compiled again. I used the purge function on my SSE installation as well, could it be I'm missing script files as well in Skyrim SSE. Only thing is the file tree is different in Skyrim and I wasn't able to be sure which files to replace from my backup. Thanks J
23. Yes it's safe I find no apparent bugs or issues with the latest version of Vortex, I have to admit although it was a pain in the arse to make the move from NMM, two positive things came from it. Since it turned out that I had to manually remove and reinstall my mods. 1. It forced me to package my mods that have been loose in my installation for too long so now all my personal creations are actually ready for uploading to Nexus in two different games. That was a big plus. 2. It gave me the opportunity to purge out mods that I no longer used or were just too outdated to even have in the games, therefor making my games run faster and cleaner. Now with that said. I have to admit that having my profile at my fingertips makes it easier to go to the Nexus site when I need to and I think a lot of the features are handy, I still think load order management is a bit cumbersome and could be easier and cleaner, although some people would disagree, that's just my take on it. When I went to start FO4SE last night I got an error, it seems that Vortex wants to place FO4SE and Fallout4.exe in a folder they're not in, but this issue was easily fixed by manually telling the app where they were. It seemed an unnecessary thing to do since the app should know where these files are. I've not tried starting my SSE game yet, but my guess is I'll have to do the same with it. Although it's possible to do group installation files, Vortex still takes you through more functions to install and deploy the group than I think is necessary. I find the load order error fix at each installation a bit annoying though I can see the purpose of doing it at installation of mods, but when you're trying to install a lot of mods at once it can get annoying. Perhaps a way to shut that off until needed would help or maybe not. As a computer tech, webmaster and computer builder I can see where the Nexus is going with this MM, The fact that it mirrors the site is nice, although I feel the function of a MM is to manage Mods so the rest of it seems like the Nexus site is just bleeding over on to my desktop and feels too much like a Facebook app, I know I can remove the modules If I don't like it, and I do like getting site news on my DT so perhaps it's just me needing to get use to having Nexus in my space. All in all it looks nice runs fast , although I've not tried downloading with Vortex, I'm old school and prefer to install from my system, but I'll soon try to install with Vortex to see the extent of it's capabilities. That's my 2 cents, for what it's worth, I've been around this place for a while and although change is sometimes hard I also know the need and beauty of it. Thanks NEXUS for trying to make things easier, just don't forget to listen to the mod creators and users, they're the real reason you're here. We love you.
