  1. Okay, now my menu bar has the same thing. I guess you have to officially deploy mods before you can purge them. I've been using Vortex for over a week but hadn't hit "deploy" until about an hour ago.
  2. That's probably because you have "Deploy mods immediately when they get enabled" turned on in settings So how do I find purge? I definitely need to review Gopher's tutorials!
  3. I saw your comments in the conversation posted above. Where would I find "deploy" or "purge" commands? I desperately need to review Vortex tutorials. So far, I know only of the four done by Gopher. Open Vortex, go to the Mods tab. "Purge" and "Deploy" are two of the big operation buttons at the top on that page. Thanks. I see "Deploy" on the Mods menu bar but not "Purge". When is the "deploy" command necessary. So far, I've installed numerous mods with Vortex without the "deploy" command.

  5. Thanks! How close is Vortex to being complete; beyond testing?
  6. I never used MO2, but I read that mods loaded through MO2 never actually altered game files but that they manipulated things virtually. Apologies if my description sounds odd, but hopefully people know what I mean. Theoretically, therefore, it would never be necessary to do a clean reinstall. Does Vortex do the same thing? Or do game files actually get overwritten? Currently, I'm using Vortex to mod Skyrim SE following a mod list. Somewhere along the way, I screwed up and now multiple NPCs have Dark Face bug. If I were on NMM, I might be inclined to do a clean reinstall. Hopefully not necessary with Vortex....
  7. Many thanks for the quick responses! I FINIS as well as LOOT in the tool section. Now I've seen there is a "sort" function available when you look at the plugins section. Is this LOOT in disguise or a separate program entirely? In other words, do I have to run LOOT as well as this sort function?
  8. I was trying to switch over to MO2 with no success when I found out about Vortex. Generally speaking, I find Vortex easy to use. I know LOOT is already integrated into Vortex, but what about FNIS? I installed it but see no desktop shortcut for it nor do I see a FNIS button anywhere in Vortex. What should I do to run FNIS? Also, is there any general guidance about Load Order or should I just trust Vortex to get it right?
  9. I'm starting a new PT after having deleted some old mods. After the dragon attacks as my PC is at the chopping block, my PC can't move. Earlier PC was able to turn head to look around. Also, sometimes Stormcloak prisoners suddenly start to run around and fight. Any idea what mod is causing this? Like I said, I uninstalled a bunch of mods. The only new mod is the relationship dialogue mod. That wouldn't impact character movement would it?
  10. Arghh!!! Someone on reddit came up with a workaround which I found confusing. If anyone could youtube a work-around, I'd be very grateful!
  11. Not really a mod request, but a practical request from a frustrated mod user who downloads slick-looking mods only to get dark face or some other unforeseeable new bug. Apologies if this has been done; just point me in the right direction. I use LOOT but have found out the hard way that it isn't fool proof with respect to mod order.
  12. I get the dark face bug for some bandits and for vampires. So far, not for any named NPCs. Thus far, I tried the Creation Kit F4 routine, but hat didn't work. I use LOOT. I have heard that certain mods should be loaded earlier or later than LOOT would have you do, but I don't know how you would manually re-order things and override LOOT. What's the current guidance?
  13. Go to a tavern and they're singing one of three songs: Ragnar the Red, Age of Aggression, or the Dragonborn Comes. It would be neat if talented singers could sing some old medieval-type songs (Green Sleeves?) to vary things up a bit.
  14. Yes, I have run CK and CTRL F4 but that doesn't help. (I had thousands of warnings while running CK. Is this typical?) I also run LOOT. It doesn't strike the PC or the more important NPCs. Typically it hits some no name enemies: bandits. What mods are the usual culprits? The only thing I think I have that modifies faces is Total Character Makeover. So far, no key NPCs effected. Any new options?
  15. One of the mods I installed -- relationship dialogues or immersive citizens? - allows my female PC to engage in romantic dialogue with various NPCc and possibly kiss the PC. Unfortunately, during these romantic moments the PC and NPC occupy the same exact spot, thus ruining the scene. Is there any way to correct this? I use LOOT to set mod order if that's an indication.
  16. Any guidance on the order in which you should install mods? (And does that translate into mod load order?) I had a bear of a time working with ECE and currently get error messages saying I should put it up higher in mod load order. So, what exactly should I do? Use NMM to turn off all the mods and then use it to activate them all again in the proper order? Again, what is the suggested order in which you should nstall mods?
  17. Many thanks. You were dead on. I went to the posts under Dragonfly and the culprit was an idle file. Why anyone thought the fidgeting (or was it supposed to be a dance) was a good idea evades me. (A modder practical joke?)
  18. Just downloaded Special Edition and have had a strange problem: my female PC continually fidgets when standing in one place to the point of turning around. She even did this in the character creator! It's particularly annoying when she's talking to an NPC and doesn't continually look at who she's talking to but instead, acts totally distracted. One thing I've done differently from my previous experience with Skyrim Legendary is this time, I added all the skeleton and physics mods while installing the body mod -- all the things to make the PC move in a more feminine manner. (When she fidgets, the PC does so in an exaggerated feminine manner! Any thoughts?
  19. I think your criticisms are on point. For me, even the opening credit scenes were poorly done. Regarding Michelle Yeoh as Captain, it reminded me of something I saw on YouTube recently: a scene from the first episode of Voyager done with the woman they originally wanted as captain: Geneviève Bujold. Though a great actress, Bujold seemed way too low energy for the role of starship captain. They then showed the same scene with Kate Mulgrew and you could see that she was definitely right for the role! On Voyager, they didn't have to make the male characters weak in order to make Captain Janeway look tough. âIn general, I think they put this show too close to the time of the original series and connecting Michael Burnham to Spock's family was a silly mistake as well. And as for the Klingons...the less said the better. All that said, I do remember the first episode of TNG being a bit awkward. Perhaps they need a few episodes to work out the kinks. We'll see...
  20. I play DAO with multiple mods. Many of the mods - which I download with winrar - have chargenmorph files. When I extract the mod and its chargen file to override, it will ask me whether I want to overwrite the chargen file already in override. I assumed that if I said yes to overwrite, some valuable info/programming woutd be lost. So instead, rather than extract the chargen files of the mods I download directly to the override folder, I would extract the chargen file to a folder within override. My thinking was that when I use the compiler on chargen in the override folder, it will call upon all the chargen within the subfolders of override as well. So, is my thinking sound? Or have I royally screwed up in the way I use the chargen files and the compiler?
  21. Hi TSM! I was never sure about autoloot; the first time I ever had this happen was when I had installed fix packs including autoloot. Logically, I can see how this would work. In the vanilla game, you kill an enemy with lootable armor; you click on the body and get the armor and simultaneously, the body turns to bones. The combo of "bodies stay" mod and "Natural bodies" mod produces naked corpse if villain was wearing lootable armor. Logical, but it doesn't always work that way as happened with Branka and Marjolane. Just curious as to why. With Improved Atmosphere, Arl Howe gets Hawke rogue armor. I have a sad feeling when my PC goes to rescue Anora, Howe will be giving my PC "the finger" one last time as he meets his well-deserved end! :ermm: Oh well, silly First World problem! One of these days I have to learn how to mod for DAO! Many thanks for your patience! You've definitely helped me understand how mods work!
  22. What about her hair? I think it's awful; it makes her look like a guy. She have longer more feminine hair. Hopefully someone will come out with a mod to fix this.
  23. I'm trying to figure out when this happens and why. In general, I believe it can happen when you have both the auto-loot mod and the dead bodies stay and an enemy you kill is wearing a lootable armor. (Note: I also have improved atmosphere installed.) So, in Orzammar, my GW kills Jarvia, who is wearing "Dwarven Athletic Armor." Jarvia's corpse ends up naked and Dwarven Athletic armor is added to my inventory. OTOH, when I killed Branka, "Paragon Armor" was added to my inventory but Branka's body kept the clothes. Similarly, Marjolane retained her clothes even though you always loot whatever she's wearing. So, what's going on here? Why does my mod combo work differently with different characters who have lootable armor?
  24. Giant bird? I remember her mentioning that. But after you fight Flemeth the dragon, I can't help but think that's what came to save the PC and Alistair! Perhaps a cutscene like that - either bird or dragon - could be thrown in as a flashback just before you decide whether or not to fight her.
