  1. I have played classic Skyrim on ugrid 7, with 100+ mods, for some 150 hours of actual gameplay with a Radeon 5850 and an i7 730. Not even a single corrupt save game. The occasional CTD and that was all (RAM, I assume). No broken quests either. I also have 180 hours on Fallout 4, also on ugrid 7 since minute 1, some 35 mods, GTX 1070 and i7 6700k. Again, no corrupt save so far and if I had a single CTD, I don't remember. No broken quests either. Now I'm starting Skyrim SE, same rig as in FO4, same grid, some 50 mods. Just went from Riverwood to Whiterun, all ok. Curiously, the giant that the wolf guys kill when you first met them "poped" on the screen at the same distance it poped when I was using ugrid 5 some ten minutes earlier. That said, it's safe to assume that Skyrim SE should be ok at ugrid 7 if you have the rig to back it up. People who treat ugrid higher than 5 as a taboo haven't played with it and are biased, or didn't have the hardware needed to play safely. At least at level 7, quests are fine and save games are fine. The only downside is, of course, the FPS loss, but so far Skyrim SE on my rig is, near Whiterun, at 59-61 FPS, with dozens of mods at 2560x1080. ALSO: haven't tried with Skyrim SE, but on classic Skyrim you could revert ugrids to a lower level without hassle. You just had to load your game, alt+tab to Windows, open the .ini file, revert ugrids to 5, save the .ini file, go back to your game and save it. Done. Don't be mean to ugrids, they are our friends!
  2. Why don't the publishers themselves pay the modders? After all, many people wouldn't even buy/play some games if it wasn't for the mods. At least the non-hyped gamers, who don't go preordering based on CGI and ads. The publishers profit with the modding community, so they could themselves pay the modders. - OR - The gamers could pay the modders as a whole, in advance. An example on how this could be made: The publishers sell the game and a separate modding tool. Without the modding tool, the gamer wouldn't be able to use mods. The money for the game would go to the companies that made it and the money for the modding tool would go to a common fund for modders. The money on the fund would be shared, periodically, among the registered modders. "But how would they share the money?" Each modder would receive a fixed amount for each "thumbs up" on its mod. After a certain amount of thumbs, the mod would be evaluated by the company that made the game. Based on this evaluation, the modder would receive a variable amount. Top modders would receive a third amount as a bonus. "Oh, but this is highly subjective!" As all other criteria would be. "Oh, but this would be too complex!" As all other paid system to modders would be. Modders would receive for the good work, the donate button would still exist, the opportunity to release a free mod would still exist, Nexus would still exist, the gamer would still be able to choose to play with or without mods and pay in advance, no part involved in the relation would be treated unfairly.
  3. In response to post #9135089. Yeah, I think this is odd too. The staff would have already made the posts for the two games as champions, so they would immediately post the victorious one. I'm moving IGN to my "main game site slot" if a proper main page article doesn't show up soon...
  4. I was having the same problem. Thanks for the solution.
  5. Hey, guys using ATI GPUs, I was having heavy fps drops outside cities in Skyrim and that thread solved my problem: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/115232-13-battlefield-6950#11476024 If you don't wanna check the thread, the solution for you may be just disabling "morphological filtering" in Catalyst Control Center.
  6. Well, I used to use Fallout Nexus in 2010 and early 2011, then I started using Skyrim Nexus in mid 2012. I don't remember having a problem with the site, maybe a download took some time to start or something, but even so, the problem could be from my Internet connection. I think you guys do an AMAZING, UNIQUE work, something I will tell to my children in the future, like "oh, there was a site called Nexus where people would upload their mods to some games and anyone could download then and have fun for free". In fact, I expect my children to see Nexus with their very eyes, in the future. Hugs from Brazil!
