Mothership zeta crew "Beam Me Up" bug
BenWah replied to Instilation00's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Try temporarily disabling the unofficial fallout 3 patch. I had a single report describing this problem, asked for confirmation from anyone else and never got it. -
I have a bunch of mod recommendations and install tips in sections 3&4 of my guide: http://steamcommunity.com//sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149946772 FWE: The greatest immersion and gameplay fail of fallout 3 is that it is too easy. This mega-mod increases challenge and adds sprinting, many other features. I can't imagine playing without it anymore. EVE: awesome weapon special effects MMM: far greater variety of creatures, increasing difficulty and mystery of random encounters PB: much more detailed and convincing faces, but too pretty & hollywood for post-apocalpyse. Up to you. NMC textures + zeta retextured: much better graphics Project reality: weather and lighting, much better outdoor visuals DarnUI + Ihud: Smaller and hidable GUI elements improve immersion. GNR enhanced + Conelrad: These radio stations enrich the theme and atmosphere for me. Reanimated: More convincing poses and stances with weapons Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch: Huge number of fixes from dozens of people in the fallout 3 modding community . Many of the fixes address visual and dialogue anomolies that impact immersion.

NMM 0.50.0.1 alpha test update released, bug fixes aplenty
BenWah replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Anyone know if they fixed it so the fomod for Fallout Wanderer's Edition (FWE) works? One of the most popular mods for Fallout 3, and my setup guide has to include this so people can get it working with NMM: NMM ONLY: Must turn these 3 archives into 1 Before adding & activating: Extract all 3 into a new folder called Data, being careful with overwriting order (hotfix last). Right click folder to create an archive from it, and add via NMM clicking "add mod from file". -
Errors and crashes for Fallout 3 mmm
BenWah replied to crmiller197's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
You're loading fallout.esm 2/3 of the way down the list. It should be up top. You're still skipping BOSS, wasting a whole lot of your time. It's not going to fix everything but it does avoid some major problems. I think you need to enable: Mart's Mutant Mod - FWE Master Release and disable: [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - No Corpse Flies.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - No Floaters.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - No Geckos.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - No Iguanas.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Soft Unleveler Hardcore.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Increased Increased Spawns.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp -

Megaton Water Treatment Plant Rad Fix
BenWah replied to GrimReapers1's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Ideas
i thought the same thing! They should have at least have one public drinking fountain that dispenses purified water after the pipe fix -
There's no need to mess with FO3edit, the corrected unofficial patch plugin is already downloadable on nexus here: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/18877

If someone could try out the mod section I'd appreciate the feedback to improve the guide

Annoying black and white bug; chem-related?
BenWah replied to mairujyat's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
try CASM to reduce the chance your game gets irretrievably lost from corrupt saves. Also disable autosaves, press escape/setup/game and disable all 3. When you manually save, always save to a new game instead of overwriting. You can delete old saves by right clicking them. -
failed to initialize renderer
BenWah replied to fallout3hudson's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I'm shocked you can get fallout 3 working at all with dual display. The usual fix is to disable second display with Windows Key + P -
*Nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, add fallout3.exe, change "Maximum pre-rendered frames" to 1, Apply. *ATI GPUs: set flip queue size to 1 in radeon pro or ati tray.http://www.radeonpro.info/downloading/ This fix and others in the guide in my sig

Errors and crashes for Fallout 3 mmm
BenWah replied to crmiller197's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Post your new plugin order to show that you've run BOSS and aren't still trying to run FWE + FOOK together. -
Running BOSS is the main thing, amazing the game even starts with those ESMs at the end. Lot of stuff badly ordered. Kind of brave trying to mix a bunch of major mods first try. You should really read the documentation for Error Fixes, you need those extra compatibility plugins and the order it describes. It's got a nice easy to read chart to show you exactly what to do. I don't have any experience with fellout, the weather mod, detect traps, or advanced recon to comment about them. for FWE i suggest disabling: [X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Followers Enhanced (BrokenSteel).esp For MMM you don't need: (their features can be activated via pipboy without these plugins) [X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp For unofficial patch, you should replace one of the plugins with this to avoid rivet city save crashes:http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/18877 (I can't remember if "Error Fixes" fixed this rivet city bug from unofficial patch , I don't think so)

Problem activating DarnUIa11 zip with NMM 0.44.13
BenWah replied to Mckrty's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Nah that's not true, I used tons of mods and the only two I can think of that break with NMM are FWE and Darnui. In the case of FWE, the fix is trivial, just turn the 3 downloads into a single archive and NMM installs it fine. Just have to be careful with overwriting order. -
Problem activating DarnUIa11 zip with NMM 0.44.13
BenWah replied to Mckrty's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Here are the exact instructions for installing DarnUI with NMM and FOMM, taken from the guide I wrote linked in my sig. Um, you should check that out. Note that I have you using a different file for NMM -- if you try the FOMOD with NMM it's going to blow up and fail as you saw. I have done this myself with NMM and promise you it works. Darnified UI-- smaller HUD elements for a cleaner, less obstructed view. FOMM ONLY (easier) http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_f3a11.zip NMM ONLY http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_f3a11.7z BOTH also need this hotfix: http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/dui_f3a11_HF.7z ONLY IF USING NMM: Modify Font section of Fallout.INI as shown in the PDF doc. Install order is critical for UI Mods! If using FWE(Fallout Wanderers Edition), activate DarnUI support for FWE right after DarnUI.If using "Immersive Hud" mod, activate it next.If using "Better High Detail Maps" mod, activate it anytime after DarnUI.I use all of these together and it's great! Add Faster Pipboy & Smoothlight mods too. OK if you're using NMM, here's the font section of the fallout.ini (FOMM does this for you but NMM you gotta do it yourself) [Fonts] ;sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fnt ;sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fnt sFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fnt ;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fnt ;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_Otl_12.fnt sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_10.fnt sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_PetitaMedium_Outline_18.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Forgotten_Futurist_Otl_18.fnt sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_13.fnt ;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fnt ;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Klill_Outline_20.fnt sFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt -
That's beyond my understanding. I know fallout wanderer's edition (FWE) has an optional "alternative start" add-on, which let's you skip the intro past the birthing. You can choose many history options for your characters that give different bonuses and penalties. Maybe you could look at that. Some more info is further down this page in the alternative start section: https://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/detailed-changes/01character You might consider a less ambitious mod to start that could be built upon

Project Reality bug fix work in progress
BenWah replied to pacfish's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Wait what bug are you trying to fix? I think most of these problems are bad load orders and conflicting mods. Personally I force Project Reality's plugin to load absolutely last, and I activate the mod last too. -
I found a nice Winter mod on nexus -- http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/6654 The summer one is fantastic, hopefully this is good too

In oblivion and skyrim you can get away with long lists of random mods, but thats pretty brave for fallout 3 -
Shock effect, dose it work?
BenWah replied to ZippyDSMlee's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
i tested the shock effect in eve -operation anchorage. The shocksword works really well, a little too well. They go flying too much. :) -
The darnui description page on modsreloaded has wrong insturctions for modifying the fallout.ini file to use the larger fonts. But the PDF file included with the install has the right instructions.

I dunno, can you go to a save before you downgraded the version
