... deleted comment. It wasn't rude or anything. I just need to fact check some stuff before I post some stuff.

Hey, I was wondering if you have anything that you'd like to add to this list. Before we get started let me explain that I know very little about mod development and will be learning some things. Also here are my random thoughts first. So after several playthroughs and looking at the story line from various aspects. I though it would be cool if the player can make their own Empire. Let's think about this for a second. The stock hero character is either a war veteran with military experience or a Lawyer. Either way both are very educated and know what things were like. These new Fallout games with their factions are starting kind of get on my nerves a little bit. No matter what you do you're never really a shot caller. You're a doer which is all good but in the end you're the errand runner. Do this, go there, do that, build this. I think it would be neat to build your own faction, your own ... military. Make the wasteland yours. Fly your flag over everything you can see if you want to. I was thinking about a having a tech tree system (like in the RTS games). You have to construct this item before this can be constructed type thing. (regardless of perks which take forever to acquire). Looking at the wasteland ... basic resources (like from ye olde War Craft ... no not WOW. Warcraft... it's Starcraft without the buttons, and it's not in Space...less sophisticated. [Points to whoever gets the reference] Anyway this kind of what I'm thinking about I'm not sure how much of this can be done. http://i.imgur.com/f1ql8wP.png Scavengers can collect things from secured areas or the aftermath of battles. Their collected items go to a collection station. When enough supplies are maintained a supply depot can be built. When there too much for the army a Surplus Store can be built to generate caps. Shooting range makes snipers. Training Grounds make the veteran warriors, power armor units (provided a lab is built) Tents house grunts, scavengers. Shelter provides a better place for people to live and opens up the school. The school/academy. Opens up the science department which in turn opens up the factory. The factory allows power armor units to be created, as well as artillery and vertibirds. And forgot to include in my make shift crappy drawing the creation of robots. The science department can also increase the effectiveness of units as well. Resources Concrete- as is Metal- All things metallic screws, gears, aluminum, etc. Oil = oil and oil related products Power = power and everything dealing with it ..circuitry etc. Supplies= Everything else. Bullets, caps, crafting items, tools. armor, etc. Well that's what I have so far. What are your thoughts?

Settlement Raiding Mod - Hidden
Skyviper086 replied to IberianVaelico's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
The DLC Nuka World is all about raiding settlements ... but usually you can check the authors profile to see if they've been banned. Or other news feeds to see if something went down (i.e copyright claim/issues). Or the author decided to hide the file to work on it or because of mod theft. Which is more rampant now more than ever since everyone on the console are wanting mods that are designed for the PC.- 5 replies

Perfect! Exactly this. Thank you! Kudos to you.

Hey why is it that NPC can take cover and perform no look firing actions and all we can do is just go into "sneak mode" and duck behind something. Why can't we press our backs up against a wall and look around a corner? Or use our incredible luck and spray and pray and hope we take out a bad guy. For all that is great why is 3rd person still just ... horrible? Camera doesn't switch over like other 3rd person games (the reason I stick to 1st person)

Seriously no Assault Rifle Replacer?
Skyviper086 replied to Cruor34's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
That's what I find maddening about it. I remember Fallout 1 and 2 (Tactics I used the M249 a lot) but the Avenger Mini Gun .. oh my. Life saver. That's the down side of mod development too. If a developer knows a game can be modified well why spend the money on the effort? You have free labor. You're right about that. I can see why a lot of people wont' jump into modding this go around because they're basically doing work from someone else. :roll eyes: But hey they have a Skyrim movie coming out ... messed up game = messed up movie in my book. If you can't do your main money making thing right... -
Seriously no Assault Rifle Replacer?

Interesting ... Would that also explain why the mini gun is freaking useless? -
Like Titanfallout? Give it some time. It may happen. My lips are sealed so don't ask.

Failsafe Brainstorming Thread (Contains spoilers!)
Skyviper086 replied to Skyviper086's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Can this be done without the Shi? I'm only asking because I have some plans for them for another story all together. Speaking of the Enclave. People that want to dismiss them need to open their up a little bit. Yeah they're a common bad guy since Fallout 2. But they're bigger than what the games show them to be. Think about this for a second. They were the only ones to have vertibirds. The ones the BoS have came from stolen plans, the ones the NCR have are just straight up stolen. On the East Coast the ones the BoS have are Stolen from the Enclave. Fallout 4 takes place after the destruction of Raven Rock so yeah the Enclave shouldn't be there on the East, Oil Rig blew up on the West Coast. So I'm assuming they're in the South. They are possibly the only faction that can have spanned the entire wasteland because they control the skies. One would have to also assume they use continuity of power. I also say the south because the BoS from Tactics is the in the Midwest and North of the Mason Dixon line. So they Enclave would probably bypass them. And don't roll your eyes out the South either. During the Height of the cold war a lot of things went on here. I myself am 10 minutes, in either direction, away from two silos that housed the Titan ll E Nuclear Missile. There are many more around me. But I mean they serve as stark reminders of how bad things were (and still are). And vertibirds are short range aircraft. So for them to be on the East and West means they had to have been in the middle somewhere. BUT I have a story with the Shi in mind and most events of the FO4 will be just background things. There will most certainly be a lot of infighting with them, kind of like there was back in San Fransisco. I'm calling that story Dragon Rising. That gave me an idea about some things. It's going to be an all out war with an enemy many people won't see coming. (Hopefully). They're only mentioned once. So ... Dragon Rising ... a reclusive faction vs a relentless enemy. About Super Mutants don't forget they were working on a fertility program so they can mate. ... I know that's very disturbing but the results of that project can help a lot of people counteract the effects of background radiation. -
I hear you but I think a lot of tools out there just aren't here yet for Fallout 4 because a particular company got more concerned with making a live action movie. BUT the good thing about mod developers is that they can make their own tools and then use those tools to make really awesome things.

Failsafe Brainstorming Thread (Contains spoilers!)
Skyviper086 replied to Skyviper086's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Interesting. An idea for a "Hulk" perk comes to mind. Just throwing this in at random. After reading about Father and Virgil arguing over FEV testing for some reason sparked this thought. I've read that children who lack their parents affection really don't do so well (so they say). I was thinking what if Father's longing to be with his parents was some imprinted into future generations of synths ... that longing is amplified within in the synths thus making them want to leave institute. I know it may be silly in all actuality. I can really see some in-fighting going on in the institute as well. People saying and doing what they do merely to fit in because of fear of being treated differently. I'm saying that because I remember playing a mod where you were in the Enclave. You didn't join, you didn't work with or for. You were in the Enclave. And you had options to do things for sake of appearance (like faking that you killed an innocent person) or you could just flat out do it. And that's just plain human nature. We all work on a pack mentally. Sometimes we're afraid to act alone, but are more willing if someone were with us. So I can see that happening within the institute a side that really wants to help and they can vs a side that wants to be like the Enclave. Light bulb ... Do you remember how Father said they tried to implement a government years ago but it failed? Would it be interesting if that government spawned the creation of the Enclave. It could work to have the Institute being behind it. Because they're one of the most technologically advanced factions I've ever seen. -
This will contain spoilers. If you don't want to know what they are do not proceed past this point. So after the battle of Bunker Hill (if you're taking the route of the Institute) Father explains that you were kept alive as a Fail safe, should something go wrong with him during the institute's earlier phase of development those many years ago. That conversation gave me inspiration to write a story about the hero character being activated as a fail safe for the institute. In short instead of waking up in a vault you'll be waking up in a lab. The part that I'm getting hung up on is finding some logical reasons the character would want to move on. The lore of the game is the hero finding the son. Big shock the son is the leader of the big bad Institute. So either the son can be alive and used as a means to coerce the player into executing their will. Or the son can be dead and the player can explore parts of the facility that have been hidden (like the FEV labs) to find out what really happens. But after all of that crap, what then? Explore the harsh wastelands? Find a way to destroy the institute? Or go along with their plans? What are you thoughts ... is this whole just completely stupid or is something interesting here?

Quest Idea - Peace with the Institute and Commonwealth
Skyviper086 replied to HazaRd777's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
I love your Romulan analogy; that is very true about them. But this just hit me ... Season 4 Episode One and the Last Episode of Season 3: Star Trek Voyager "Scorpion's Tale Part 1 and 2". A temporary alliance with the Borg. The faction that's all about perfection (even though they look like walking corpses) teams up with Voyager's crew to fight species 8472. If anything is lacking from this idea I'd like to toss in: How the institute tried to create a government for the wasteland, how they tried to help. That's a big grey area that can be played with a little bit. Were people willing for such a chance and they just tried to force it on them? We're they themselves the victims? We don't know we just know that their attempts didn't work for whatever reason. So a lot can be done with that I think. Because of that event then you can have some that still remember those days fight it out, or try to do something to disrupt the peace process. And even though there is a peace they could very well be on their way to an even greater disaster -
Hey I've seen pilotable vertibirds in New Vegas and Driveable cars. XRE was even working on a guided rocket. It's been talked about before but never done. First and foremost some reanimation will have to be done for the pool cue so it can be used properly. Second I think the billiards will have to be smoothed out. You can pick one and fling into another one and they'll react a little bit but they wont roll too far. Someone suggested micro explosions that could provide enough force to push the billiards around. I'm thinking new collisions will have to be made to keep things rolling correctly and falling into the pockets. But I don't know anything about these things. I've just been watching a lot of mod developers do their thing and you'd be amazed at some of the stuff they can do. I think Fallout 4 will kill a lot of the innovations with the rampant mod theft, poor modding tools, etc. Of course I really think that when push comes to shove a lot of the guilds of mod development will get together and make some kind of program for themselves... but that's just a wild fantasy I suppose.

Quest Idea - Peace with the Institute and Commonwealth
Skyviper086 replied to HazaRd777's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
The Brotherhood seemed a little dark to me (and I'm a huge BoS fan). Those on the East are supposed to be a bit more docile than the those on the West hell that's why they split in the first place. One would have to assume that the BoS from tactics actually moved off to the East since all the Airships crashed at the divide. But I might be wrong about that. I found that the institute was lacked a lot. Its story line is very hollow. I agree that a lot more can be done with, including a peace. I would love to the institute work with other factions like the minutemen to restore the wasteland into a prewar America. I know this sounds like the Enclave vision; however think about this for a second. You can have these secured and shiny settlements with food and tech. The BoS (like King said) would probably not stand for it. So they would probably try to stop any development or force people to join them. I remember reading something about writing fiction stories where there is no good and there is no evil. Meaning everyone views their own goals as the right thing however the goals that counter them are viewed differently. So I agree with Haza there is some good there that can be used. On a side note I've been wanting to write a story, not necessarily about the institute but another faction that is just as advanced that people have forgotten about. I'm sure by now they're on a higher level than the institute. Or at least on the same level. -
Yeah there are lot of hidden gems in each Fallout that never make it to the wikis. For instance Fallout 2 clues you into what happened to start the war. Fallout Tactics has some amazing medical advances for Super Mutants, and technology such as an experimental aircraft. However you would have to go out your way to see these things. Except for the Super Mutants. But the wikis seem to focus on the main quests (to me anyway) and a lot of things went missing that could have been used in later fallouts .. especially Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 The most badass companion (other than dogmeat) was a deathclaw companion. A talking death claw companion. Turns out they're pretty smart.
-
Good point ... and I'm glad I could help with a little inspiration. That sounds like a very interesting mod. I'm wondering though, are you taking any of the old Fallouts into consideration? For instance the Midwest BoS? I mean I know Arizona may be out of the way but they very well may be near the BoS area.

I'm wondering if someone can make a really simple mod around the premise of blowing stuff up getting gold. Take on a well fortified position head on in an all out assault, enter the fort and blast your way to a mountain of gold. Another idea totally random: I'm not sure if this is possible but it would nice to take on legion troop columns and supply lines as they move from place to place

Hey thank you for taking the time to look into it! I'll try looking at the MCM. That could be the problem too because the MCM that came with this mod ... screws up the MCM for the rest of the mods I have. I haven't thought to look there until you mentioned it and now that think about it. It could make sense. Again thank you so much for your time!

Dirty pre war suit retexture

Yeah FO4 was a major let down for this long time Fallout fan. I mean to me it's only worth it to stick with the one faction. But honestly they could've developed some of the other factions much better, added more, etc. Basically FO4 was a featured a lot of things that were mods for earlier Fallout games. What's killing FO4 is that the mod tools aren't fully complete and buggy AND rampant mod theft for console users. They could've did more with that title. So yeah coming back to new Vegas is worth it. There are a lot of awesome mods still in the works. Is just that now most of those mod developers have moved off to their own websites. I just hope the mod development community can save Fallout 4. Like it did Vegas.
