While I do enjoy having Skyrim looking very good, I don't want to sacrifice the ability to create large scale battles. I also don't like most graphics mods and don't need them. Skyrim looks awesome as it is (I have a few though like WATER) This is my current mod list (most mods are subbed on Steam. And no, I don't feel like discussing why I use and like the Workshop, so don't start) http://puu.sh/6TAQZ.png SKSE 1.7.0 alpha Specs: CPU: Intel core i5 3570K 3.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600 MHzMobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H 1155 ATXGPU: MSI Geforce GTX 660 TwinFrozr 2GB I've been looking around for a lot of ENB's but haven't found one I liked. I don't want it to do too much of an impact as I wanna summon a lot of stuff. I play Skyrim on 1080p Ultra with shadows @ high and 4xAA

How to play as a pure mage with SkyRe?
Deleted2993601User replied to jeffreyshe's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Of course the game gets easier if you add mods which adds spells which are probably OP anyway. -
I tend not to bother myself with such trifles. I focus on what I like about this game and just play it. I don't even roleplay..

I think I saw IBM in there :P

How to play as a pure mage with SkyRe?

Guess what, in vanilla skyrim you can further boost melee and archery damage with alchemy as well just as easily as you can magic. The three act the same when you get enchanting to 100, with destruction being so far behind it's stupid. So what if you got 0 spell cost, all your doing is staying at a distance, and keeping the badguy locked with a knock stun while slowly witling his health away. I end up using archery every time in vanilla because once you hit 60, you can move as fast as a warrior....hit as hard AND strike at a distance AND far out damage magic. Enchanting makes melee and archery far more damaging to. You cannot argue with 260%+ extra damage from enchantments when you also have 200+ fortify smithing from enchanting to get 800+ damage melee and ranged weapons. Skyrim redone removes that triangle, but it does nerf further, thankfully it's only smithing/enchanting that falls behind somewhat. Purposely breaking the game is on you. You complain that magic is so far behind other means of combat when you admit to breaking the game. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's good to do it. Of course, reducing casting cost to 0 and chain-stunlocking is just as bad. Making an 800 damage sword is all fair game, according to you? By constantly choosing the strongest class (WITH game-breaking use of crafting skills) tells me one thing. You want to get by without much challenge. Being a mage is of course the hardest class because a mage per definition has zero armor. Only robes, spells and whatever staff you have if any. While it is substantially harder on Legendary, it is still doable. It is not for me, though, as I want a little less challenge but a mage is by far the best class for me. Magic shapes the world. Do you think mundus could have been shaped without magic? With the use of "800 damage swords"? No. Warriors/archers boost their damage output with smithing, mages boost their output with alchemy should they feel they need it. Actually, I just enjoy the damage . I can see by lowering youself a bit by insulting even when I stated I played all three(my first 50+ character was a mage) your just trolling, good day. I'm not trolling. I'm merely trying to understand what the fun is by taking down an enemy with very little effort. WIth a 800+ damage weapon, most things go down in just a few swipes. Where's the fun in that if you play a serious save? I admit it's fun for a "joke save" as I call them (I have one where I cheat to death but I have one serious save going as a mage and one as a warrior). The warrior one is on a standstill, though. I find it funny you think I felt it wasn't fun, I meant to say I actually enjoy making a character stupidly overpowered. I was merely stating the real nature of the balance of vanilla skyrim. Archery is best, sword/shield comes in second, two handed third and destruction comes last in terms of whats "best". I play skyrim redone because it's different. A quick edit: replying like this says a lot about you. In terms of damage-dealing, Archery isn't best. A legendary, resto-looped, enchanted Dragonbone dagger in the back deals the most damage of everything. -
Could we instead try to pinpoint why these bat files won't open for you? 1. They NEED to be in the install directory, where the .exe file is 2. When launching the bat file, you do NOT include the .txt file ending. If the file is called "shouts.txt", you simply type: bat shouts 3. The commands have to be in the correct format. For shouts, it is: teachword WOOP (where WOOP is the ID for the word of power) 4. How to play as a pure mage with SkyRe?
Deleted2993601User replied to jeffreyshe's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
My point still stands. Mods that alter the gameplay may seem good in some regards, while even they mess up in other regards. When I played Oblivion, I tried a crap ton of overhauls and all they did was making the game more tedious. Same with Skyrim. I have tried SkyRe and other overhaul mods but in the end I always revert to vanilla. So what if I have to lower the difficulty slightly when playing a mage? If you're making magic more powerful, you have to up the difficulty anyway to have some form of challenge, so what does that then change? Smithing is the issue here, not weapons or bows as such. For instance, have you tried playing without using smithing to improve your weapons? Tell me, how much damage does an unimproved daedric or dragonbone weapon do at 100 skill without improving it or enchanting it? Exactly. Magic can be improved with alchemy, by mixing glowing mushrooms with nightshade to create potions which boosts destruction damage. Playing a mage without using alchemy is like playing a warrior/archer without using smithinhg. Period. A mage is a skill class, a warrior is not. A warrior is about rushing in, bashing, blocking and slashing while taking loads of damage. Obviously, when playing a mage the goal is to avoid getting hit. Destruction magic isn't something to just rely on when being a mage. You have four other schools of magic to utilize, and then you also have enchanting and alchemy (though alchemy is a stealth skill in Skyrim). -
I think I'm gonna have to agree with Mr. Howard. Well, maybe I don't "detest" online games as such, but I certainly don't like them very well. Skyrim is hands down the best single player game I've played (or at least it shares first place with GTA SA) but I've spent just over 1000 hours on this game and could easily spend a few hundreds more.
-
Why of course. Bethesda aren't the ones making the online version!

How to play as a pure mage with SkyRe?

Uninstall SkyRe. Those so called "overhauls" tend to cause more issues than they fix. I've come to learn that magic is pretty balanced as it is, actually. If anything, melee is overpowered. -
Installing BOSS - whats the API folder for?
Deleted2993601User replied to cameron9428's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
AFAIK, the API folder is exactly what it sounds like. It contains BOSS' API files for developers to play around with. Oh and please mind the attitude. -
That seems to be this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44922/?

Occasionally. If you're on the PC, this can usually be helped with a few console commands. If, however, you're playing on a console, you cannot use console commands (ironic, much? :p) and thus, you're SOL.

A barbarian pretty much has to have light armor to remain swift while swinging their big weapons (preferably battleaxes or warhammers). There can be nord warriors, yes, but the default average Joe nord is a 2h wielding lightly armored barbarian. Just look at the stormcloaks. How often do you see a 1h + shield soldier? Very rarely. Also as for the death thing I was kinda trying to ask since your the dragonborn a supposed Nordic legend if your going for lore wouldn't that mean that you would go to sovngarde no matter who you became affiliated with such as Nocturnal or molag bal or sithis? I couldn't ever imagine anything but a Nord for a dragonborn. Call me weird but that's what I think. also any answers to questions I put 1-6 would also help =) I'm a huge lore fan like deep down elder scrolls fan but I've never found a answer to this question about nords been thieves or assassins etc I know there is nords in them like Brynjolf and Astrid and obviously mages collage has nords in it I'm more asking if there is anyway it can be made visible for a Barbarian vikingish race to be these things agin any answer to it would help. Have you talked to the Nord mage at the College of Winterhold? Onmund. He gives a fair explanation as to why Nords in general despise magic. It's what elves do and weaklings, basically (not my opinion!), and that if it can't be swung over your head and used to crack skulls, Nords don't want anything to do with it. 1): Can a Nord be a Thief/Assassin lore wise as they are basically berserker brutish people.2): Does it make sense to have the Dragonborn a thief/assassin as he/she is suppose to be a great warrior ofc there is Mirak who is a mage but I think he was the only non warrior Dragonborn.3): Nords tend to fight in honor and be strong people who like face to face combat so agin can a Nord be a thief/assassin sinse they see this best fight.4): Nords in these factions Oki so there is Brynjolf Sapphire In thieves and Astrid and her Husband in Dark brotherhood does this make sense?5): Nords despise magic and alchemy/posions more or less so would any nord be a spellsword or mage etc.6):Last thing Nords usally go to sovngarde when they die so if I made a deal with sithis Nocturnal hercine Hermas'mora and other deadra where would I go? I was on my phone before but now am at my PC, so I'll try to answer better. 1. Lore-wise, they can be whatever they feel like, honestly. As I said before, there's a guy called Onmund at the College of Winterhold, a Nord mage. If you want to be a Nord assassin, go ahead. It is not lore-unfriendly.2. Well, Miraak was a mage and the very first dragonborn, but it seems to be a "trend" for dragonborns to be warriors. I don't particularly like assassins. I have played a few but never really got a liking for it. Lurking in the shadows? It's not for me. I tend to be warrior-ish in my playthroughs and that has been my downfall for so many mage builds... I never learn.3. Nords are proud people and honor and traditions are two extremely important things to a Nord. Ulfric Stormcloak might be a megalomaniac xenophobic bigot, but honor and traditions mean much to him as well.4. Well, it does. They didn't want to be warriors so they chose a different path in life. IIRC, Arnbjorn (Astrid's husband) used to roll with the companions, but he was a little too... violent for them.5. Yes, Nords strongly despise magic. If it can't be swung over your head and used to crack skulls, the general Nord doesn't want to touch it. There have been many exceptions, though. Tolfdir, court mages, Shalidor, etc. Wasn't Jyrik Gauldursson sort of a spellsword?6. A Nord goes to Sovngarde, yes, but only if he has proven his mettle in battle. A Nord isn't judged by how he has lived, but by the way he died. Also, to actually get into the Hall of Valor, you need to prove you're worth entering, by a warrior's test with Tsun, the large human guarding the crudely built bone bridge.Have you talked to Kodlak? A Nord who has aligned themselves with Hircine does not go to Sovngarde upon death, they go to Hircine's hunting grounds. A Nord vampire, I bet, would go to Coldharbour, which is Molag Bal's realm of Oblivion.
-
Most nords are big brutish barbarians (2h + light armor) and not the typical 1h, shield and heavy armor guy. They also have starting bonuses to both two-handed and light armor because they're supposed to be swift and hit hard (kill before you're killed) but there are always exceptions. Arch-mage Shalidor was, as his title insinuates, a mage. Regarding where nords go. The nords who believe in sovngarde go there upon death. Those who have the beast blood (werewolf), go to hircine's hunting grounds and those affiliated with molag bal (the prince who created vampirism), I'd bet would go to his plane of oblivion (coldharbor, IIRC)

Aim at your follower and press the e button on your keyboard to make them do stuff. It's a hotkey for the menu where you speak to them normally and selecting that option. If they're in the way, just fus ro dah them away if you know that shout.

The difficulty in Skyrim is pathetic to say the least. Higher difficulties should mean a more responsive AI etc but the only thing that happens when you up the slider is that you deal less damage and they deal more. Not necessarily a lot harder, just more tedious. Also, with beth's cappy coding, you can take down karstaag on legendary with but a few hits, all without technically cheating.

Which PC version of Skyrim to buy?
Deleted2993601User replied to RBKandy's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
edit. Check DragonDude1029's post. Bye bye. -
That is definitely from a mod because there's no such thing as copper ingots or even copper ore in Skyrim. Corundum also has nothing to do with copper whatsoever so that is mildly confusing. Consulting the UESP, we find that to smith a lock, you'd need one (1) iron ingot and one (1) corundum ingot.
