Eww fanboyism. How many of these threads are needed?
There are already at least 2 other threads here:

IMO there are enough "specific complaints" in this thread. I agree with you, Abaris. But my impression is that the "Skyrim iz s00 EPIC" crowd is mostly made up of the kind of players that enjoy killing every thing that moves... they don't notice any faults in the roleplaying aspects because they couldn't care less about them.

*ponders thread*
That's what happens when people hype something up to run up the money. Eh, Bethesda?

There is already a thread on this, but thanks for reminding me to vote for Zelda

500+ bugs, a patch that sneaked in DRM and then another patch that broke more than it fixed, I don't think they deserve to win anything.
So true. But thanks for the link OP, i'm going to give my vote to Zelda

People will *censored* about just about anything. There's also this ridiculous sense of entitlement because their hardware can handle things far beyond what consoles have, but the games that are being made are mostly at the console quality. But really, it's people bitching for the sake of bitching so that they can get attention.
So that's what staff thinks about my right to be satisfied or not with paying for a dumbed down version of what used to be my favorite game series. I'll do you a favor and remove myself forthwith from your forums. Feel free to ban me. Regards

I'm glad I run the .exe directly and am not even using steam so I didn't get this horrific patch downloaded automatically. I'm gonna wait for the REAL patch before I update anything.
Don't raise your hopes too much, I bet they're going to force the same crap on us in any subsequent patch they release.
Well, whatever. I don't like the current trend that is leaning toward taking away freedom from users AND dumbing down the game for the more casual majority. You can keep your DLCs and games Bethesda, from now onwards I am not going to buy anything from you. http://plurkfiends.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/a5ae31c4185bc60cd006650dc10f8147.gif

I was going to ask if there are any background processes that could be interfering (i.e. slow down) with the game, but you said that you can max out Crysis, Metro, etc. so I guess the problem has to be Skyrim-specific. The first official patch from Bethesda is due in about a week, maybe it's a known bug and it has been fixed.
-
I imagine in a year or so, somebody new to Skyrim will be enjoying the game immensely with a host of great mods that add to the realism, balance and fun.
I guess you're right. Well... I waited five years, I can wait another year...

I have been playing Skyrim for a few days now and the biggest problem I have (besides the bugs that don't allow you to finish certain quests)is the fact that while Bethesda claims that the world is so full of freedom and choices, you really have very little choices when it comes to questing or just running around trying to change the land of Skyrim on your own.
You make good points CelerasRingor. The RP'ing (freedom & choices) aspect in TES games is what I always loved. But now with Skyrim I'm not that sure anymore...
-
It seems some of you have forgotten that games are meant to be fun, not filled with complexity.
lv000, that's exactly the reason: fun.
I enjoyed Oblivion wholeheartedly and hoped the next TES game would live up to the high expectations, but so far I am not very impressed (except for polished graphics, etc.)
It may be simply a matter of personal taste but as I said before, I find Skyrim boring and lifeless compared to its predecessors.
Personal taste aside, IMO there's a serious lack of depth in the dialogue options, poor magic system, AI, dungeons, interface. Combat has its moments, but it feels unbalanced.
And I wish there was more variety. Oblivion has populated flatlands, rolling hills, mountains, swamps and lakes with islands on them, forested areas with lots of caves and keeps, and finally snowy arctic areas. Sure, Skyrim is meant to be a mountain area, but it's basically a giant snow globe and gets boring after a while.
Again, my 2 cents.
-
Very strange, the hardware should be more than adequate. Did you try the following mods?
-
In my case I have played both and I'm going back to play Oblivion and ignore Skyrim... unless modders can improve its gameplay & interface
-
TES VI will ship as only the construction set and a vague plot outline, at the rate Beth is going
or
TES VI wil take place in an area the size of a city block, have full photorealism, and still have annoying discussions about mudcrabs. Also, you get two skills, stab and zap. Bash was in, but then they decided it would confuse their target demographic. There's one quest. The end.
After playing Skyrim for about a week I have to agree. I was extremely enthusiastic while I was waiting for Skyrim to be shipped, and when I played it for the first time.
Now I find it incredibly boring and lifeless
Just my 2 cents.
/me waits for a total conversion of Oblivion to Skyrim...
-
Whoa, that was long! But very well put and leaves me with little more to say.
I'd still like to have a simpler 2D map of Skyrim with village markers enabled like in Oblivion and other simple ideas taken from Oblivion as I described in an earlier post.
-
Bans Delikatessen for having more kudos than me :(

These are the mods that I'd REALLY like to see as soon as Bethesda remembers to release the Creation Engine.
Basically any mod that brings back the features that I loved in Oblivion:
- a few greener areas with a warmer, moderate climate (I don't care if this is Skyrim, I just don't like to be trapped in a giant snow globe)
- static, plain Skyrim map with markers enabled, like Oblivion's map (not a fancy 3D thing, but one that people could actually use)
- possibility to use all kinds of weapons (even dual handed) and magic at the same time, with different hotkeys for weapons and magic, like in Oblivion
- usable user interface for PC users (I don't care how, just please change the UI to something else, anything else!)
- possibility to create younger characters (not kids, just allow me to make a character that looks under 50) and more default heads to choose from
A few extra villages here and there with a cozy player home would also be very welcome.
What do you think? And what are the mods you feel would make Skyrim better?
