What about this one? Yes I know it's out of stock, but I found a used on ebay for cheap. Guy has good feedback. Sorry it took so long, but the specific reason I want two psu's is because it is cheaper. Yeah the wires are a hassle, but I'll deal with it if it means I save 30-40 bucks!
-
Thank-for your responses guys. Remember I have a 350w psu powering my mobo and hard drives and a 250w psu powering an Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT and two fans. The plan was to upgrade to a GTX 460 as well as the secondary power supply, but have the option to SLI two. The Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 is only a 160 Watt card, with that in mind, I should only need a 400 Watt power supply to power two and some fans. So 50 bucks is the MAX I'm willing to spend. Thanks guys.

Hello folks! Ok simply put, I'm lookin for a power supply that will run two Nvidia GRX 460's (though 1 starting), and four 80mm Fans. I have a simple 350 Watt DiabloTek running my main board. It turns out, the video card tells the other power supply to turn on. My budget is $50. I also ask that the supply has decent ratings, too. Thanks and have a nice day.

Thanks, I was hoping that was not going to be the answer, but oh well. Ok, can I load a Dell reinstallation CD on my new mobo (their license is legal for 30 days before one has to "activate" it), then buy a windows 7 upgrade (from XP or Vista) and load that on it legally?
-
Is it possible to legally upgrade from an OEM license of windows XP (32-bit) to Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) on a different motherboard than the original OEM license is on? (example in case question was worded improperly) I have mobo "X" with a legal copy of XP OEM. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 on mobo "Y" using the hard drive from mobo X Is this legal or even possible as mobo X is an Intel and mobo y is an AMD. I really don't want to spend a rediculous amount of money for a full disk version of professional (I'll buy an OEM Builder Kit before I do that!) Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

There is a difference between forcing a child to work and letting him have the choice to work provided there is a minimum GPA level and that child meets it. I believe that there should be a limit to when children can work (let's say thirteen). I also believe that there should not be a difference in wages for both adults and children except for company benefits because a child will not have the same issues as an adult will. Moreover, I think this should be a state by state issue, not a federal ruling. The Federal Government does not have any business determining whether or not a child can work because that was not among the Federal Government's original responsibilities as the central government. I disagree, not with helping young people, but with who is doing it. #1 for the reason supplied above ("Moreover, I think this...", schooling is not the government's job). #2 that is not what tax dollars are meant for. State and local taxes are for conveniences like roads, street lights, hospitals, police, fire departments, and other important civil services. "Free" education is not one of them, because it forces others to pay for an education that most parents do not want or in some cases even like. I think education should be up to parents, not the state.

In my opinion Deep Space Nine was the best series. It was the only series that seemed realistic, well as realistic as Star Trek gets! My point being, not much really went wrong in the other series (it is possible I am wrong on the two that I have not watched: the Original or TNG) On DS9, half the station was falling apart at least 90% of the show! Other reasons include what Vagrant0 said. I also think that DS9 showed the humanity of the characters better than the other series'. The other characters from other shows did not seem quite as real as the ones in DS9 were, at least to me.

There are a few ways... If you have a brand PC, you can just simply look you model number. (For example, let's say I want to look the motherboard specifications for a Dell Optiplex 745. I would go to a search engine and type in "Dell Optiplex 745 motherboard specs" and search it. I am not sure about other brands, but Dell and HP [Hewlett Packard] make it very easy to tell what the motherboard specs are.) You can open up your case and look around for a model number on the board itself. Or if you do not have a brand PC, you could download a program such as PC Wizard 2010 (from softpedia; takes you to the download page and not directly download it). That particular program is made by the guys who did HW Monitor, which in my opinion, is one of the best temperature monitoring utilities. Again, make sure your board can physically fit the card onto your board and into your case without doing anything. (For example, I have a buddy who couldn't put my video card in his comp because it blocked the SATA ports!). I hope that is helpful. Note: all the video cards I mentioned are at least a few years old; the oldest is from '06, the newest, an '09.

I have a brief question regarding image sharing... Are screenshots with TCL off allowed? Thank you for your time. -
Depends on what you are trying to do, whether or not you care if the card is used or new, and how fast you need it. New ones are more expensive, usually come faster, and usually have warranties Used ones are cheaper, usually do not come with warranties, are available virtually any time (especially if the card is not longer being made), and possibly come at a slower rate than new ones. If you are playing Fallout or Skryim, you probably will not like a low-end card. General specifications to look for: make sure the card is a 256 bit interface (though that will tend to drive the price to your max), 128 bit is a little slower, and 64-bit is a don't-even-buy lol. also make sure the memory type is GDDR3 or greater (such as GDDR4 or GDDR5) make sure the memory (RAM) is at least 512MB, preferably 1 GB If you are looking into a new card, you're probably talking somewhere between $50-$200 (US dollars) Specific cards: New: Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 1st link 2nd link <$100 Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 $100-130 ATI Radeon HD 4870 1st link (currently out of stock) 2nd link (X2 version, means there are supposedly two GPU's) $130-$150 ATI Radeon HD 4850 $50 (after rebate) Used(rather no longer in production): Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT, GTX, or GTX+ Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT Nvidia Geforce 8800 Ultra, GT, or GTX ATI Radeon HD 3870 ATI Radeon HD 4870 (only used), 4890 The 3870 and 9600 GT are the least capable cards in this group You asked for a list, but there are other factors to consider as well: 1. Power Supply, 2. and Motherboard space 3. why your current GPU fried. (it is possible it was just simply old, or there could be other factors) #1 if your computer does not have enough power, it could damage not only the card, but the rest of your computer as well. #2 make sure the card you do buy is small enough to fit in your case. If you motherboard or case is a MicroATX, you might have problems, they might cover the SATA ports for example. #3 dependent on more information about your computer I hope that helps. If you need more information, just ask.

I see your point hoofhearted4, for now I will leave the board mounting for later; since I am building the case, I can always make that section later and modify or retrofit it to my case. Ok materials section The inexpensive, but possibly cheap way to build it, would be to construct it out of mostly plywood, which is what I have plenty of. The more expensive route would be mostly aluminum and possibly steel plating, but I have significantly less of it (didn't have as much scrap metal as I thought, but oh well). What are some pros and cons of each? Note: for whichever one I decide, the front and back of the case will be metal with holes for airflow as well as a mounting setup for 120mm or 250mm fans. EDIT: I decided to go with Metric measurements from now on, my case will measured in Millimeters (mm).
-
Thank you for your time gentleman (All measurements in this post are in English inches) I like the ideas and I probably will make a basic piece of whatever as my mounting object to mount my board in it. @hoofhearted4 I will definitely make it a full tower case @Illuna, I like that idea, too @Vagrant0, thanks for you buddy's personal experience, it will help me in my endeavor. Parts will not be an issue, I have many computer cases and miscellaneous accessories just lying around doing absolutely nothing lol I'm not really worried about size, I have enough stuff to make the case as big as I want, my concern is about Motherboard dimensions, or exact form factors Now my current motherboard is a ASUS M4N82 Deluxe. Its a DDR2 standard, 3 PCI-E slots, NVidia nForce 980a SLI, Socket AM2+ (I didn't think they made AMD boards with NVidia Chipsets on them, huh). That particular board is 12.0 X 9.6. On to my exact question: What are the top ten most popular form factors from MicroATX to HPTX? I already know the top three: 9.6 X 9.6, 12.0 By 9.0, and 12.0 X 9.6. Building a board that will only fit a 12.0 X 9.6 board is not very helpful to me in case I upgrade, or I decide to sell it. That is the reason I want the case to be able to hold a much bigger motherboard, such as a high-end server.
-
I want to build my own case from scratch! I have tons of scrap metal, wood, screws, and the tools to utilize the latter. My primary question: Since this is custom built, what should my max form factor for motherboards be?

Is there a way to make the environment destructible? i.e. when you fire a missile into the ground, it makes a small crater. When you fire a Fat Man at a house, it blows into pieces; when you....I think you get the idea. Just wondered if anyone did that or if it was possible.

Fallout freezing with mods (what's new?)
ChuckFinly replied to ChuckFinly's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
UPDATE: Didn't help much; I did more testing and it still freezes/crashes sometimes when loading a save and leveling up. When I take the mods off, it works fine. I think it's a bug in the mod; a buddy of mine is running an AGP video card, with an old AMD processor and a gig of ram on this with no mods and its more stable than mine! I will say that it is less buggy than it was. On another issue with Fallout; why does the game "jitter" (freeze for a moment) and then go about normal? I also have a video card benchmarking program called MSI Kombuster. When I run the program using D3D9, it does the same graphics "jitter" as it does in Fallout; when in run MSI Kombuster in GL3 mode, it doesn't do that at all. Is there a way to correct the "jitter" in "D3D9? Thanks -
Lol I can't think that high! If money was no object, I would build a Mac gaming rig. I suppose I could go into somewhat more detail The highest end I7 in existence 3 or 4 Nvidia GTX 590's 1, maybe 2 generic 1500w power supplies liquid cooling system whatever the max RAM of the motherboard is (I'm thinking 64GB) a 120 SSD a few 2 terabyte drives a case that is probably a quarter the size of my desk! nicest gaming keyboard and mouse a...I donno 120" HD 3D TV (if they make them that big). Surround Sound system Realistically speaking, what program is anyone going to be running that needs half the specs people are giving here?! Personally, the whole idea about spending 10-20 grand on a computer sounds like a complete waste of money, especially when in the next year or so, the "latest and greatest" thing will come out, immediately reducing the price of your rig by half, if not more; what's the point?

Fallout freezing with mods (what's new?)
ChuckFinly replied to ChuckFinly's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
It is running better now that I adjusted those files and order. It still freezes for a split-second quite often, but it doesn't lock up (at least not yet). It isn't as smooth as Call of Duty 4. (I haven't even seen the framerate below 20 on that game!). Also, are you sure the name of the file is fallout3.ini? On mine it is fallout_default.ini... OH DANG IT! I went for fallout_default.ini in Program Files/Besthesda Softworks/Fallout 3/Data! Oh good, the copy I made still has the original settings on it. Anyway, thanks for your help guys. -
My idea is about new animations (both 1st and 3rd person view) for various guns in mods. Guns like the M4, M14, M40, P-90, RPG-7, The Javelin (coding that one is going to be fun...), Bushmaster-ACR, AUG, MP5, G3, G36, MP7, RPK, Scar-the list goes on. Anyway just an idea.

Fallout freezing with mods (what's new?)
ChuckFinly replied to ChuckFinly's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Thanks you are right, "saves" is a better term and I should have used that. Those files you talked about came with the main download, actually the one I downloaded was V0.9A...donno how that happened. Lol, I actually have (by today's standards) an ancient system! Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4GHZ single-core with Hyper-Threading enabled. Dell Optiplex GX280 mobo (SMT) 3GB 533MHZ RAM MSI Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB version. Believe it or not, Fallout runs fairly well on these specs. Though I must ask, why would have 3 or more cores run the game cause any issues? The next system I'll build myself (tired of brand PC's), and it will likely have a quad or hex core. This is the Game of the Year Edition on the disk. I don't like Steam. -
Fallout freezing with mods (what's new?)
ChuckFinly replied to ChuckFinly's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Thanks for your reply. That is the actual load order in FOMM; I apologize for not mentioning that. My EXACT load order in FOMM is the following: Fallout3.esm Anchorage.esm BrokenSteel.esm ThePitt.esm PointLookout.esm Zeta.esm RH_IRONSIGHTS.esm RH_IronSights_Basic_VanillaPlugin.esp RH_IronSights_RemoveRecticule.esp RH_IronSights_Basic_AnchoragePlugin.esp RH_IronSights_BasicBrokenSteelPlugin.esp RH_IronSights_Basic_PittPlugin.esp RH_IronSights_Pitt_NewRifleSights.esp RH_IronSights_Basic_PointLookoutPlugin.esp RH_IronSights_PL_NewItems.esp RH_IronSights_Basic_ZetaPlugin.esp fallout3_reborn_v9.esp Fellout-Full.esp Fellout-Anchorage.esp Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp Fellout-pipboylight.esp Fellout-PointLookout.esp Fellout-Zeta.esp XRealistic Weaponry V5.espX (currently not selected). I hope that answered some questions. What is a "proper load order" and what is "NMM?" Thank you for your time in dealing with my ignorance! -
Fallout freezing with mods (what's new?)
ChuckFinly replied to ChuckFinly's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Thank you for your time. I actually didn't know that the load order mattered! As best as I can remember, I think the order was as follows: The DLC's Iron Sights (unknown version at this time) Reborn including the DLC addons * Fellout All of Fellout's DLC addons *Texture addon packs, most of which were done by a guy known as Niel_MC I think. They include his Megaton, Rivet City, Rock, and General HD textures Other textures include Night Sky by CptJoker Note: I forgot to download the other mods that Fellout was designed to work with (that may be the problem, now that I think about it). I have to load FOSE to get some of the features from the mod to run properly, such as sprinting, and Iron Sights blur. Otherwise they will neither one of these will not work at all. -
I'm having some trouble with game freezing. I'm running Fallout 3 Reborn. Iron Sights All the DLCs, and Fellout, as well as various texture packs. I would be running the game and it would freeze when exiting the program, leveling up, or loading another profile. It's a serious pain in the neck! I'm running the latest patch as well. If you need me to be more specific on my information just ask. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
