  1. So i don't claim to be the smartest person in whiterun, all i ask is a fair chance. I was making some source videos earlier for an ADEC (NSFW) video i'm working on, and i was lamenting the lack of fine controls and inability to really tweak down the mouse turn speed to something i could control. I've also noticed videos where the videographer was clearly struggling with the same thing. Then it hit me . . . duh... use the game pad. Recipe: 1) xbox gamepad if you don't have one, but do have a standard windows gamepad, you'll first need to make it compatible by using x360ce. It's an emulator that hooks in to your gamepads output and magically makes the game think it's an xbox 360 controller. takes some setup fiddling, but is a well written app/driver. 2) skyrimprefs.ini: find and change fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=1.9000 down to someth like 0.05. Change to your own taste. I personally used 0.1. it turned a little fast for my tastes, but the entire range scales... so small movements of the stick translated into very gradual turns. 2a) If you use the sensitivity slider in game, this will be wiped out . . . BUT you can fix it without starting over. 1 -- alt-tab out 2 -- re-edit skyrimprefs.ini 3 -- alt-tab back into the game 4 -- console: refini. Refresh INI . . . it will reload ini values. 3) Console commands: tfc = Totally Free Camera sucsm <x> = set the speed of the Totally Free Camera. sgtm <0..1> = set game time multiplier. scales the speed of the entire game. Maths: sucsm 1 is exactly walking speed for sgtm .4 optional: Review Studio mod. Big, empty rooms. Perfect for testing crap. Puppeteer Master mod. Force animations upon the unsuspecting npc. When i'm done with the video i'll link it here. Even tho i still wound up with over a hundred takes for what will wind up being a 2:00 vid, at least i don't have to use jerky clips.
  2. It's been my experience that the topics of censorship and free speech are only brought up by people that have been smacked by the baseball bat of the "benevolent dictatorship" that governs most all websites. This nor any website has a constitution nor "rights" for it's members. bottom line is that we post here at the pleasure of the owners and moderators. TBPH, I applaud a mod/admin staff that will take a stand in a reasonable and consistent way and unceremoniously kick those that deserving it. Not just people that break the rules, but those that skate the edge. They're the ones that holler "injustice!" after they've been asked to pull it back a notch. Heads on pikes are an excellent deterrent. The problem is that this kind of leadership requires the individual to be self-aware and the entire staff be vigilant with each other... because eventually, personal vendettas tend to deteriorate the individual and reason ceases to be the foundation. I was a member of a forum where an individual posted a number of very good video editing and technical procedure tutorials. He was banned for what seemed a triviality to the rest of us. Of course he wasn't ok with that, but in the end all he wanted to do was access his account to retrieve some draft-saved tutorials and be on his way. Reasonable would have been to let the man get the text somehow (get it from the db and mail it, allow him a one time access, etc). . . but staff hid behind the rules "once you're banned, you're banned." . . . so a person that was a great contributor, became not just inactive, but a full-on enemy... because mods couldn't just be reasonable. If there was a constitution for the internet, I think the First Amendment would be "Just don't be a dick" and that would clear up 99.99% of the problems on both user and staff sides.
  3. It's not actually, UK English spelling. yep. . . hence the "hehe"
  4. So the other day i was thinkin "man it'd be nice to have some sort of bookmarking system." i discovered, purely by accident, Tracking Centre when i accidentally hovered past "track file" First of all, Center is misspelled hehe 2ndly, IMO it should be linked much more prominently. the binoculars icon doesn't do it justice, imo it should be a big green button "Bookmark". and then the Bookmarks should be accessible via the "Welcome: <username>" menu. It's a great feature. Being buried, tho, kills it's utility.
  5. Since the nexus here doesn't have bbcode widgetry on the file description page (the page would be 9x longer if every panel had it) i looked around for an online editor and found someth decent. http://www.ecardmax.com/hoteditor/# Works fabulous. type your crap, preview it, copy the bbcode from the bbcode output panel, paste to your description. Works flawless in ffox, has display issues with chrome (iron). (not sure where else i could have put this for better exposure)
  6. The current skin for ADEC is several versions old and was a hand-me-down to begin with. It was tweaked by acdale from a CBBE alt skin. So I've used photoshop for years, but never the 3d extensions and it took me the last couple days of learning ps-ex and nifskope enough to decipher what's wrong with the skin. And the bottom line is that the mesh needs a proper set of textures. xs2reality was kind enough to tweak up the normal map so that works fine and looks great. But the diffuse, color and spec maps are all kludges. To that end, here lies a request for a 3d painter/artist to spring to the rescue. The standard payment applies: fame and fortune. Oh and gratitude... don't forget the gratitude. To formalize: Is there a 3d painter on these forums that would be willing to do a skin specifically for ADEC alt-body mesh? He (and I) would be grateful. Some pics are NSFW: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5390
  7. the solution, as given by another site.
  8. When playing in windowed mode but at full screen res (using a borderless addon makes it effectively fullscreen) color with enb is fine. after my own tweaks it's kinda nice actually. the problem is that it's just a tad slow. playing fullscreen allows me to cut the res from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 (windowed drops down to 1400 someth and won't fit the screen anyway). dropping res is a tremendous framerate boost (like +40%) BUT the enb color is washed out. blacks and whites are relative shades of gray. I've messed around with the config, but can't seem to find what to change to fix it. ssao= off, ambient light had no effect. any suggestions?
  9. Excellent thanks. and the follow up: textures are loading but the normal map isn't shadowning. does nifskope not have the capability to display it in context? and the million dollar question: is there documentation (community or official) somewhere that i could have found out either of these questions? I'd rather RTFM (Refer To the Friendly Manual) than post questions to a forum.
  10. working on a texture in photoshop. PITA having to load the game to check the normal/bump/height/modelspace map. In nifskope, the colormap (texture) loads automagically, but the bumpmap does not. I saw a similar answer that said "Right click on "NiTexturingProperty" for any Block, it will present a list with "Textures" at the top, select that and you'll be able to add any kind of "map" you want." . . . but there is no NiTexturingProperty item anywhere in the block list. The question: how do i load the bumpmap for a texture into nifskope? [edit] question 2: is there a better way to check or deal with a heightmap?
  11. I've looked off and on for the last couple weeks, but I've not seen anything (function or otherwise) that will return the angle of the camera relative to the player in 3rd person. Any suggestions?
  12. thanks, that's a start I guess... npc editor, that is.
  13. Anyone know of a console command or the like where i can force a follower type into my employ without having to go thru the game machinations? I've been helping AcDale with his alt body mod and wanted to get a group shot of all the armors. I figure that with the multiple follower mod and some patience i can do that . . . but since it's utilitarian in nature, i don't want to have to play thru a bunch of follower quests before I can add them.
  14. animcam: orbit cam for body shots tfc [1]: toggle free cam, + 1 to freeze for screens sucsm: multiplier for camera speed. .4 is good for placing tfc cam (set ufo cam speed multiplier) sgtm: game speed. do not use zero. (set game timescale multiplier) tm: toggle menus. animcam and tfc cannot be used together as far as i can tell. sgtm is good for getting exact placement. tm hides EVERYTHING even console. tm <enter> hides the console without putting it away. as far as posing goes, i'd like to know myself.
  15. Does anyone know of a way to use console commands or creation kit to analyze an existing function/command? Specifically, I'd like to dig in to showracemenu() and see how they did the character facing bit . . . more specifically, the part where when you drag the mouse, the char's head moves. the goal is that I'm interested in manipulating where the player/npc is looking and there either isn't a core function for it, or it's named something without the words face, view or look (or permutations) in the name or description.
  16. great. thanks for your help and info.
  17. in the "skyrim data files" dialog that you get from the launcher, they're shown as items 2 and 3 on that list. nmm shows it a little differently, as being items 4 & 5 after Update, Skyrim , Skyrim Monster Mod. in both windows they are unchecked... and it's working. wait lemme see if i got this straight. . . if checked in those dialogs, they can't be overridden, but in the ini they load properly and ARE overridden... is that correct?
  18. after a little more digging, i disabled the "High Res Texture Pack" and the problem went away. i found the info to add the files to the archive section in the ini before your post, same problem. any ideas how to clear this up? I've already verified cache.
  19. http://imgur.com/a/LNGHA I'm not sure exactly where the problem is, but i can't seem to make this go away. i've made this go away 2 times in the past by 1) deleteing /Data/shadersfx dir 2) un/reinstalling ADEC [edit] i had typed up a bunch of mod-based t-shooting steps i have taken, but it's for naught really. I uninstalled all mods, removed the existing mesh and textures dir, and installed adec and it's still there. I'm as certain as i can be that it's not the mod because it was working perfectly earlier today. "what did you do before it broke?" If i could figure that out i wouldn't be asking these questions. Oh and while i'm at it here. . . is there a console command to reload shaders/textures? so when working on texture data, i can use the game to check progress.
  20. Is there a resource somewhere where i can read up on the basics for performing texture/skin editing? Yeah i can use photoshop, but there's got to be a more efficient way of 'doing it' than what i'm doing.
  21. aha i was looking for the wrong thing. i was lookin for 'speed' etc, but Kerkains post got me in a better direction. sgtm <x> (set global time multiplier) where x is a float and 1 is normal. 0.5 is half speed slomo and anything > 1 is ffwd. affects animations and time of day. appears to NOT affect blink speed. doesn't affect camera movement either. not listed on the common wiki's.
  22. is that game-wide scaling? "Set the rate at which time passes (20 is the default, 1 is realtime)" sounds like it just changes the length of the day. If i set that to 15, will everything appear to be moving in slow motion? (75% speed of everything) i'm unable to just jump in and see . . .
  23. in a number of games, there's a console/developer command to change the speed of the overall game. basically a multiplier for the game "main loop". like a game-wide fast-forward/slo-mo. is there any such animal for Skyrim/TES games? preemptive: and no i don't mean player movement speed... game speed.
