  1. Sounds like he's got two quests going, but one of them is only used to trigger dialogue, etc. while the other handles all of the objectives and log entries. Then for events he is setting stage on the other quest along with the current one. Makes sense since the dialogue and complex scenes are the things that you don't want to have to rebuild when the quest goes bad due to this bug. Sounds super annoying and confusing, but good way around it.
  2. @thirteenoranges Did you have the problem with the quest even with no dialogue?
  3. Debugging info... Was working on a scene in a quest tonight and all of the sudden it went corrupt, no quest markers or log entries. I backtracked step by step every single thing I did from before it broke and tested every step in game and nothing fixed it. I was hoping I could isolate what I did to corrupt the quest but no luck, seems once it's gone it's gone. This is a terrible bug for quest building, you've got to start over every time it happens. I also tried duplicating and renaming the quest to see if I could kickstart it but no luck. Even if you strip the corrupt quest down to nothing and delete every single thing except a single stage it still won't fix it.
  4. Same thing happened to me, I literally just recreated the quest word for word and it works now. I'll let you know if I discover any possible causes for the bug.
  5. @Gorigon - Currently we're not looking at any gunpowder weapons, though talks of a crossbow-style ranged weapon have been in the works for the next chapter. @Draiden - As much as we'd like to have them be a playable race, In the short term it's simply an unrealistic goal. We made the decision to concentrate our efforts on an immersing story with high-quality assets and put the playable race idea on the back burner. In the future if there is enough interest that will validate the amount of work it would take, we'll reconsider.
  6. Hey all! We've been busy the last couple of weeks with casting voice actors, modeling, texturing, drawing, writing, etc. We've got loads of new concept art and some in-game assets created that we'll be rolling out this week on the site. Here is one of my favs so far, the mask of the Dragon Priest, Irendil. Got a few more NPC concepts that we'll be getting up as well, fun stuff. http://images.mwhgames.com/concept-art/skyrim-dokd-concept-npc-irendil-mask-blog.jpg It's great to see the kit out finally, now the fun can finally begin. :D
  7. Yeah they will definitely have dialogue! The script is finished (hah) and I'm currently in the process of auditioning voice actors. We had over 200 people submit for it so it's been a tiresome process but...got some great talent. Really looking forward to it. :)
  8. Early character concept for Thorsen - leader of the Balmer. http://www.mwhgames.com/early-character-concept-thorsen-ironheart/ http://images.mwhgames.com/concept-art/skyrim-dokd-thorsen_ironheart_v01-blog.jpg @Bobzz - Not too worried about DLC as our story is more or less standalone. And as far as team size, quality over quantity. ;)
  9. I hate being overly mysterious but part of the mod has the player taking the role of the inquisitor and asking these same questions, so it is explained through game-play and thus I don't want to give it away. As you can imagine, any inhabitant of Tamriel, upon seeing living Dwarves (whether it was Dwemer or any other "new" race), would be quite confused and curious as to what they are and where they came from. It is in this sense that we're keeping with the tone of the Elder Scrolls world. The appearance of the Balmer is a strange situation in Skyrim, so the people would naturally be curious. The attitude of the player and the story reflect this. Also, thanks for the support! :D
  10. Character Artist spot has been filled, thanks to all who contacted us! More info and pics on the site: http://www.mwhgames.com/
  11. Just wanted to suggest that just because there isn't a lot of interest in this thread is no reason to give up and kill the mod! If your idea is solid and you know it, you can look elsewhere for a team. Spec out the skill set you need and look on other sites to find people who work in 3D or games. If the story is good, you have a solid artistic idea, and the scope of the project is actually feasible, you can find people.
  12. Just to throw it out there...I know from experience there are literally hundreds of professional actors out there that are able and willing to record audio for a serious project. If you're needing them to record on their own that number will come down a bit, but there is still a large pool of talent. We put out a casting call on a couple of casting websites, looking for pro voice actors for a non-union project, were very clear it's an unpaid project, etc. and we've received over two hundred responses. Skyrim is a big deal so even the pros are willing to get involved if the project is legit and shows merit.
  13. Sounds great, good luck to you and the team! Very much looking forward to it.
  14. We've got an open position on the team for DoKD if anyone would like to check it out. http://www.mwhgames.com/team/team-openings/3d-character-artist/ 3D Character ArtistMWH Games is currently looking to add a 3D Character Artist to the team! This position is for the Dwarves of Karak Dok mod for Skyrim. You will be responsible for working with the art team to create characters, weapons, armor and other items. This includes modeling, sculpting and texturing game assets from start to finish. We’re a small but growing team of game industry vets and game enthusiasts, and you will be collaborating primarily with the lead artist and the concept artist to execute the vision for DoKD. You should be comfortable managing your own time, and of course must be willing to commit to hitting deadlines set by the project manager. Requirements: A portfolio that demonstrates a solid artistic foundation that includes a deep understanding of anatomy, material and color The ability to model, unwrap, sculpt and texture 3D characters and other assets from start to finish in a game environment A solid grasp of 3DS Max, Maya, Softimage, or Blender Ability to create high fidelity and high quality sculpts in either Mudbox or Zbrush Proficient in texturing with Photoshop Must be able to manage personal time effectively and deliver assets on time based on a schedule Pluses: Game development and/or modding experience A good understanding of real-time shaders and per pixel shader texturing techniques Experience with NifSkope, G.E.C.K., or other Creation related tools Familiarity with gaming pipelines and game-related art creation techniques As with most MOD positions, this is an **unpaid** position. We do it for the love of the games! To apply, please send an email to [email protected] with the following subject line: “3D Character Artist Application – <YOUR NAME>”. *** Applications submitted without an accompanying portfolio will NOT be considered. ***
