How do I make elves NOT look butt-ugly?
rc2the2nd replied to ElricOfGrans's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's incompatible with things like follower mods, faction overhauls, warzones like mods, patrols mods, city mods, some body mods, most character texture mods, and on and on. Depending on the mods you're using and what features you want from each, it may not be a problem if your load order is sorted properly. You should take a look at the comments on the eeo and eeo patches mod pages to get an idea. But to make sure your game will be stable and desirable for an entire play through you're going to want to check things out in tes5edit and ideally mod organizer and/or wryebash so you can get an idea of what loose files are being overridden in what order. Just making bashed patches and merged patches may not be enough depending on your load order. If you're familiar with this kind of thing you'll know where to start looking for incompatibilities. If not I recommend gophersvids, gamerpoets, and the STEP community. Before you start a modded play through that you intend to finish, its generally recommended to be intimately familiar with how your installation works to avoid having to troubleshoot blindly and potentially scrap a half finished play through. -
How do I make elves NOT look butt-ugly?

I ran into the same issues with EEO a long while ago and scoured the nexus for a similar and supported mod. I ended up using Windsong Skyrim Character Overhaul and haven't looked back. WSCO doesn't make the same drastic changes but I find that it takes each race and manages to bring them in line with some semblance of reality. It attempts to create something realistic and true to ES lore, without erasing the art style and creating a dissonance between the characters and the rest of the game. If you're willing to mess around in racemenu for a bit when creating your character, it's not difficult to soften the facial structure of a male or female dark elf. That coupled with the WSCO has allowed me to totally forget about the gripes I had with elven races. There's a rugged and softened version for males and females of all races and the mod is still being supported to this day. There are also very few compatibility issues because it doesn't touch face morphs, skeletons and such. I'd give it a look if you haven't found an alternative yet. Edit: I looked around on the nexus for a simpler mod and came up with Less Harsh Elves _ No Bags or Indentations by Javett. While I haven't used it myself, it looks like it might grant your wish for less ugly elves if you're not interested in an entire overhaul. -
Nexus is so badass

I love Newegg. It seems no matter what you buy, it will be out classed in six months. That's how electronics are marketed. I haven't owned a desktop in years. Black Friday in the states does offer great prices, also after Christmas sales. I picked up my rig plus a cooling pad (I always run one when gaming on a laptop) for $700 a year ago, now it's no longer manufactured. Bethesda over states the requirements needed to run their games in ultra settings in my opinion. I honestly think bethesda tested and tailored their recommended pc specs for modders and tweakers to some extent. The're really pushing for modding this game in particular. I think a lot of people misinterpret "recommended" as "I'm going to blow this game out of the water with my new rig" and to a lesser degree "I expect ultra at 60 fps with some wiggle room if I properly optimize my rig." With that in mind I think it was kind of a smart decision on bethesda's part to over spec. If they want people modding and playing their games for years they don't want people to be frustrated with their very expensive pc parts that bethesda themselves recommended when they try adding a few texture mods or a scripted weather mod a few months after release.

First of all this looks like a great project already, and judging by my many hundreds of hours playing with your obis mod for skyrim, this will end up being a top tier, must have mod for me in f4. There's one thing I don't see listed in your outline for this project that I adored about obis; this being the bandit patrols feature. I could be imagining this but it seems to me that factions are for the most part rather static once again in this entry from Bethesda. If at all possible I'd love to see a patrols feature re-implemented in your f4 version of the organised bandits mod. Other than that I'm also interested in seeing what your take on Raider strongholds/bases would be for different types. Bethesda's take on this seems to have amounted to random clutter somewhat related to the pre-war purpose of the location with a few terminal entries or notes recognizing the raiders awareness of their surroundings. I wonder if this could be further developed to include such things as specialized trap placement more interesting than a few turrets scattered throughout. My ideas are robot use, radiation traps, loot baiting (signs to attract wastelanders, treasure to attract adventurers to specific traps within the area), and specialized creature taming/use (as mentioned by Boombro). I'm sure there a few examples of this type of thing in the vanilla game that I'm missing, but integration with your raider types would be just fantastic. Edit: I'd also like to see a raider type that specializes in the use of explosives. I didn't see that in your types list either. Explosives are so much fun. :P

Kinda necroing here, but I thought I'd offer a little encouragement to keep your hopes up. I purchased a 970 supersuperclocked edition for $250 days before f4 released. It was a newegg pre black friday sale so I'd expect some similar sales throughout the holiday season. If your family is savvy and determined enough to find something you'd be thrilled with I think it's a good bet you could convince them to grab a 970 for you if you do a little scouring and persuading yourself  It's definitely a great card btw, I got it to run vogue enb (the max version of the preset running at 1080p) with only my shadow distance settings turned down with a consist 45-55 fps. Hope you get what you wish for this Christmas! (edit: $250 after finagling in a $30 rebate I think was meant for non sale prices. Gotta be thrifty :P )

Need idea for hardcore mod and balancing mod
rc2the2nd replied to dhrgusdlrns1's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'd look into enemy spawns and leveled lists to start making something that really changes the atmosphere and adds tension to the game. Fighting enemies with better equipment and/or stats coupled with some better world placement can contribute to making the game world feel like a more daunting place to explore. Then making equipment upgrades more difficult and time consuming to acquire adds a lot of desperation and motivation to the task of exploring that daunting world. An additional consideration of mine would be looking at limiting experience gain and build choices in a way that encourages having and playing a character that is proficient in one or two skill/ability sets that allow you to survive (not dominate) the games systems. I recommend looking at fwe for fallout 3 for an example of this done superbly. There are other mods for 3 and new vegas that did great things for building a hardcore world and experience but none captured it like early-mid game fwe for me. It's a very complex and difficult thing to get right with the nature of these games but certainly possible depending on how far youre willing to go and what your eventual goal is. I'm sure much of what you want to do will necessitate the creation kit but its something to build toward for now. -
Shield Bash isn't working. Almost certain it's a mod issue

I'm having the same issue any insight would be greatly appreciated. Active Mod Files: Edit: Issue was caused by the latest skse version of dual wield parrying.
