  1. It's been a while. Let me know which books you'd like recorded, or just say if you have no preference Emmarae.
  2. Nice ideas and notes there. When I think of a bolt cannon, I envision more of a static gun emplacement connected to that automated defense system you mentioned before... Such as, http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=77485
  3. I don't mind at all Basaltface, and I'd be happy to provide voices. I'm looking forward to seeing this all develop, as having a steampunk battlemage running around is appealing.
  4. I've posted up several earlier recordings in this thread, yes.
  5. I sincerely hope you don't mind Basaltface, but after reading this and your response as to the roles of a Centurion, I couldn't help but make these quick sound bytes - http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=77255 and http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=77256
  6. I've set up an Onmvoice page for those who're interested in hearing a few voices - My linkhttp://www.onmvoice.com/Mechanorm
  7. I'm guessing the offence caused was because I intentionally made the first redone rendition sound uneducated, due to the style of the writing. For those interested, I've set up a Onmvoice page here - http://www.onmvoice.com/Mechanorm. It has several samples based on lines from Oblivion, so if anyone would want a book in a specific voice, feel free to ask.
  8. Hello Selty, nice demos there! Glad to have you on board.
  9. None taken at all. I can understand why it could be offensive, so how about this one? Toned it down and tried to make the writer sound a bit more savvy. http://www.mediafire.com/?gg2i63au3r8tjb3
  10. Cheers for all the tips! As always, greatly appreciated. I re-recorded pretty much all of my original submissions for the other thread, and figured I'd put at least one up here, as I found it entertaining to record. Advances in Lock Picking, wav, no effects - http://www.mediafire.com/?qcjzewzblselyg7
  11. I played the recordings back through my usual speakers, so I'm guessing that's what added the bass. I'll check future recordings through headphones then, cheers for the tip. As for input levels, I'm using Audacity, so I'm guessing I just decrease the mic input slider? Or is it something else? I'm guessing the background noise wasn't too bad then on the newer files?
  12. Hello everyone. I'm currently working on recording books for the Skyrim Audiobook project, and as such acquired a better mic - a Samson C10U compressor mic, so my recordings would be of a better quality. Since I now have this I'd like to work on voicing other mods as well, since it seems a shame to have the mic just for a single mod. If anyone would like a voice actor for their mod then please feel free to drop me a PM. Here's a normal recording of me, with the only effect being equalization just to reduce the inherent bass slightly, on mediafire.
  13. If you'd like anyone to help with voices I'd gladly take part.
  14. Right, been trying out and testing the new condenser mic. It certainly sounds different, though I'm not overly sure as to how much clearer. It took a long while to keep tweaking settings to something that sounded acceptable, so here's two wav files of The Black Star, something I've recorded before, for comparison. First is the unaltered file - http://www.mediafire.com/?8sjyy14o7x8mv46 Second is one equalized to remove some of the bass to make it clearer, for me at least - My linkhttp://www.mediafire.com/?1s7568rsiqotxsh Compared to the very first one I recorded with the headset mic, I'd appreciate any thoughts and feedback as to which has the best recording quality.
  15. Cheers for the PM Emmarae. I'm still open for requests as to which books to read, aside from The Real Barenziah. If anyone has something specific, then please feel free to ask. On a slightly unrelated note, since I'm getting a mic, if anyone wants me to voice stuff in general for Skyrim, just ask.
  16. My rather rich fighter brazenly walked up to targets, murdered them in cold blood in front of multiple people, then cheeruflly paid the fine with a wink when the next Guard came up. Got to have some use for all that gold, and I completely enjoyed the Orc fighter version of stealth.
  17. Damn it. Postman left the missed delivery slip instead of actually leaving the parcel, so no recording till Monday. Bah. Wasted money on postage.
  18. Well I bit the bullet and bought this - http://www.musiconmypc.co.uk/samson-c01u-usb-studio-condenser-microphone-software-stand-co1u which should function nicely based on the reviews I've read. Chose ridiculous shipping too, so it should be with me by 1pm tomorrow. Now I just need to sell a few unused things to recoup the cost! With luck I'll be able to record a few short pieces and upload them as WAV files for perusal some time tomorrow evening. Also, cheers for the encouragement everyone, it's certainly spurred me on to try and make the best recordings I can.
  19. Nice tip, thanks. To those hoping for chapters 2 and 3 of The Real Barenziah today, apologies. I'll be holding off recording for a day or two. I'm not sure how I can spare the cash to get a condenser mic, but this one looks alright - here so I'll try to shuffle around funds to afford it. Since everything I've recorded previously (aside from chapter 1...) is rather short, I'll be re-recording it all in WAV format as suggested. Better quality's better after all.
  20. Those carvings would suit a lot better than my suggestion of a wrap, nice find.
  21. I'd vote for a smoother handle, probably with wrapping of some sort (dragon hide?) but as mentioned above, the overall shape is lovely.
  22. Good tips there, thanks. Just a couple of questions - I've had a quick look for a usb condenser mic and to me they're pretty expensive, in the £80-£120 range. When you say cheap, how much do you mean? Do you have any links to a couple of good ones? I'm based in the UK if that helps, cheers. Edit: After doing a bit more searching, I'm assuming you'd recommend a popscreen as well? I've noticed on my recordings thus far I can get pops or clicks on P's and T's, so I'm guessing a screen would help get rid of them?
  23. If there's an Elder Scrolls pronunciation guide I'd be more than happy to peruse it. I went with my first interpretation of the names - sorry if it's a bit jarring.
  24. That's a nice trailer chocolambot, cheers for having my reading in it! I don't mind people using them to promote the mod at all, so feel free. It's good to see the thread is getting some good attention.
  25. Had a look at The Real Barenziah, and suffice to say, 'Challenge Accepted'. It's certainly long, but I doubt it'll take 3 hours, probably closer to 2. I recorded chapter one in a reasonably neutral voice with very slight changes for voices to at least make them slightly distinguishable from the basic narrative. No effects were applied, and there's a few clicks here and there thanks to my mic. Turns out chapter 1 is just under 19 minutes, and uploaded here - http://www.mediafire.com/?ah7jazr0z4gfdd1 I'll try to get chapters 2 and 3 done on Thursday when there's more free time. Hope chapter 1 is enjoyable to listen to, and any feedback is appreciated and welcomed.
