  1. We are not going to give this to you on a platter. Coding is work, and you will have to learn how yourself. No matter how many people try to help, YOU will ultimately have to do the work. It can be extremely frustrating, and also extremely rewarding - both at the same time. :whistling: There is no magic way of learning that makes it easy - dive in and start doing it. There are already many tutorials available. pick one that looks like it fits your style of learning and go to it. when you get stuck - and you will. Then ask specific questions and someone will help. Question like "I can't make this work' Aren't going to get you much help. You have to let us know exactly what you can't get to work and what you have tried already. IMHO: Going to college to get a degree in computer gaming is a waste of your parents money. Having a degree in something is no guarantee that you will get a job in that field. There are only so many slots available for game designers, and currently most of those go to either general purpose programers who can do that kind of work or self taught programmers who don't have a degree at all. - Instead study Computer Science, and take some classes in game design. That way, if there are no open jobs in game design, maybe you can get one in some other programming field. Programming of any kind is math heavy so be prepared to take as many math courses as you can.
  2. A lot of the spambots we have been getting lately seem to be sleeper type - a real person signs up at a bunch of sites and is paid a few cents per site. The spam company takes those accounts and uses their spambot to place the spam. An alert member sees the spam and reports it within minutes and a staff member bans it - so, a net loss to the spammer of a few cents but in return they get a few eyeballs on their trash - hopefully very few. Never - NEVER click on a spam advertisement the best result is the spammer sees that someone is looking at their trash, thus encourageing them to keep doing it. The worst is a drive by virus install just from clicking. :wallbash:
  3. You can get around this by making another post that adds new or clarified information. This will put your topic back at the top of the list, give people more information to go on, and protect you from being accused of bumping. Unless I, or another moderator decides your new post is just a disguised bump. Then it gets deleted dropping your thread back down and you get a strike for violating the rules. So be sure there actually is some new info in the new post. :whistling: Definition of a bump - a post with no other purpose than to move a topic back to the top of the page. Bben46, Moderator
  4. The new Skyrim patch does indeed make the 4GB patch unneeded. However it also breaks SKSE, Dragon Script and many other things. SKSE will be up with a new version in a short while, I'm not sure about the update time of Dragon Script. The update also reset both of your ini files back to default. I hope you have a backup. And some mods will probably just no longer work. It will take a day or so to sort it all out.
  5. 1. After a patch it can take a day or so for SKSE to be updated for the new version 2. I hope you backed up your ini files as both of them have been reset to default 3. Dragon Script will also need to be updated for the new version. 4. Some mods will either have to be reinstalled or possibly will no longer work, depending on what was changed.

  10. Does your big screen support the resolution you want to use? Is that the native resolution? The game plays best on the native resolution of the monitor (or TV) you use. Any other resolution - either higher or lower can cause some kind of problem as the resolution must go through a conversion - and any conversion can cause strange things to happen. And any non native resolution will show some degradation of picture quality due to the conversions. Note: Native resolution is usually the resolution listed in the documentation of the monitor. See this WIKI for a better explanation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_resolution
  11. There are several variants of a 4GB utility. The one I am currently recommending is 4GB Skyrim by MonochromeWrench. This one does not rely on a modified Skyrim.exe, works with steam, NMM, SKSE and should be useable even after a Skyrim update - most of the others will no longer work when Skyrim or Steam is updated as they rely on directly making a change in the Skyrim.exe which WILL be reset on an update. There is a rumor that Beth will include an LAA patch (large address aware) similar to the 4GB utility in the next update. But I'm not holding my breath. :whistling: As for DragonScript, I'm not sure what it is compatible with. As it seems to do some of the same things as SKSE, it may not be compatible with that at all - But check the documentation to be sure.
  12. Games seem to attract a lot of people who have no other life. To have a job, you really need to devote as much time to finding one as you would if working. To have a BF/GF, you need to spend a portion of your time talking to real live human beings. eventually you will find one who is compatible. Then you need to spend a portion of your time with them. - And not staring at a screen while they sit idly by. To have a family is to give up some most of the time you would spend playing games. Gaming should not be your life, it should be something to do when you don't have something else that needs doing. Get out and have fun while you still can. One day you will be old and not able to get out any more and will regret spending your youth doing nothing but playing games. My own circumstances: Retired, divorced for 35 years. Have a regular GF, who does not live with me. All of my children are grown and all have children of their own (9 grandkids). Don't play golf :yucky: . Can't stand dealing with most others my age as all they want to talk about is their latest operation or grandkids. There are exceptions though. It only takes a couple of hours a day to keep up house & yard so I have plenty of time on my hands for this hobby. For those who are amazed that a 65 year old man plays computer games, who did you think invented them?
  13. The members who have been around a while already know this, but for those who are new to modding Bethesda Softworks games I will repeat it. Beth does not own the copyrights to all of the assets in their games. Like nearly every game company some assets are licensed from other third party sources. The license normally does not allow use in anything except the particular game it is licensed for. That means using a vanilla game asset (mesh, texture etc) from one game in a mod for another game is not allowed. Even if it is another game from the same series as the third party copyright owner could sue Bethsoft for allowing it. When a modder creates a new asset, that asset is automatically copyrighted to them alone by law. Many Modders allow free use of their assets without anything more than a line in the description attributing that asset to them. Others are more restrictive, asking that you get their permission before using their material in your mod. And as always, anything you do on your own computer is your business. It does not concern us unless you either upload a mod with copyrighted material that you do not have permission to use - or you start posting pictures showing off material that is not allowed on The Nexus. The reason for the restriction on the pics is posting those ALWAYS (I have yet to see an exception) results in a barrage of "why can't I get that from The Nexus", complaints about censorship (this is not not censorship, but copyright violation, completely different law) and demands that the poster tell where they got it from (usually a proscribed site not allowed to be discussed here.) :pinch: Bben46, Moderator
  14. If a mod has any nudity, it is considered adult only. And the adult flag must be set. If not, you could be banned for violating site rules. A strike only this time - next one gets a ban.
  15. Several million people use these sites. If you can't, then the problem is on your end. Here are some suggestions on what you can do.
  16. I think possibly their main problem is the adult section being off limits to kiddies. I don't think Deviant Art has any restrictions like that. But their rules are not our rules and vice versa. I assume they also want to hot link to these pics. Direct links to adult themed pics can be a problem for us. However, it can already be done - Possibly a warning about hot linking adult pics?
  17. How about reading the rules BEFORE posting. It could save your account.

  22. 1.5GB RAM. The operating system takes up about .3GB of that. What other background processes are you running? The more 'stuff' you have running when you play, the quicker the game will run out of memory and crash. Typically you see these crashes when the game is loading new areas, such as when going through a door. First get rid of any background processes you really don't need. Here is a free program that might help do that. Game Booster: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5952 Then, if it's possible get more RAM. A 32 bit system can use up to about 3.5GB. Any more than that will be wasted as the 32 bit system cannot see it. That will free up the entire 2GB that the vanilla game will use. The rest can be used for operating system and any background processes that you can't kill. - such as your antivirus.
