I used to have that problem. It was ENB-related. Version 0.104, I think it was. Upgrading to 0.113 fixed it.

Hello fellow modders and players, I just had a crazy idea for a mod. Probably impossible, but hey... I was very disappointed during my first ever playthrough, after I found out I could ride Ohdaviing to Skuldafn. Like many, I expected a 10-minute flying session over the Whiterun plains, the forests, the marshes and the mountains. Instead, I got *TAKE OFF > LOADING SCREEN > TELEPORT > LANDING*. Many "F" words were said out loud at that moment. So now I'm thinking: Can it be done? Could a modder make it so the player can manually mount Ohdaviing, and then have him fly to Skuldafn, land and let the player dismount manually? He'd have to fly pretty slowly to avoid any crashes due to excessive cell loading. Pretty low as well, so the landscape wouldn't be a blurry mess. And the entire journey would have to be scripted, along with the landing. What do you professional modders think? Impossible or possible? Thanks.

This might sound like a weird and stupid idea for a mod. And I don't even know if it can be done, but I'm throwing it out there. It kind of bothers me that the Dragonborn is the only guy in all of Skyrim who can improve his gear. Every single item you find in the wild is always a "base" item. You never find anything that's superior, exquisite or flawless. So I was wondering: Is there any way to add tempered armors and weapons to the leveled lists? I suppose the only proper way of doing it would be like this: Grab a vanilla weapon, make a copy of it, improve its stats, rename it to (superior), change its tempering recipe so it can't be improved as much as the vanilla one, include it in the leveled lists. Or is there a quicker method? Is anybody interested? Sounds like a big boring project, but it would improve immersion.

That rule only applies to random encounter dragons, doesn't it? If I visit a word wall (or Bleak Falls Barrow with this mod) before Dragon Rising, I should find dragons there (no?).
-
Yup I know you're not supposed to face a dragon before Mirmulnir. But I don't see how that's a problem. Mirmulnir is simply the first dragon you slay in public view. Hence why everybody is surprised when you absorb his soul. Doesn't mean that you (the Dragonborn) need to be surprised as well. Post-fight discussion with the guard: "That's what you did, isn't it? You absorbed that dragon's power?" -I think you may be right. -I don't know what happened to me. -Dude, I did the same thing yesterday over that mountain. It was awesome! Plus some dragons don't give out souls. The Bleak Falls Barrow dragon can be one of those.
-
Yeah I know they ended up moving him to the western watchtower. But who's to say there isn't another dragon in that same area? Anyway it's one of the most iconic images of Skyrim, and it ain't even in the actual game. So yes, I'm very interested. Please let me know what you can do. Thank you.

Hello to all modders and players, Do you remember the E3 Demo and the original Skyrim trailer? Both clearly showed a dragon sitting on a pillar at Bleak Falls Barrow. And I was sooooo disappointed when I got there and found no dragon during my first playthrough. http://lagbt.wiwiland.net/wikibiblio/images/b/b1/DragonRoar.jpg http://gamerlimit.com/files/2011/12/skyrim-dragon.jpg Fast-forward to 8'00". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSL-r9AIEEU And those of you who have dug deeply in Skyrim.esm will have noticed several references to a Bleak Falls Barrow dragon. Now I'm pretty sure this dragon is what ended up as Mirmulnir. During the Dragon Rising quest, you can clearly see that he's coming from Bleak Falls Barrow. So it wouldn't entirely be lore-friendly to have a dragon sitting up there. But I reckon it'd still be pretty badass. Any modder up to the task? "All" you'd have to do is post a dragon on that pillar and do something about the bandits (I don't know what... move them to another location perhaps?). Or maybe leave the bandits in place and watch a fun battle ensue when you get there. Please-please-please-pretty-please with a cherry on top. The Creation Kit is confusing to me, otherwise I'd have done it myself. Thanks in advance.

Uninstall the driver, and install the latest Catalyst suite (12.4) from ATI. That should fix most of your issues. Also you might need to erase your skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini files to tell Skyrim your hardware must be re-detected. Quick piece of advice: NEVER ever use the drivers that are on your CD. They're always out of date by several months.

Hello all, This is both a general gameplay question as well as a modding question. There's a loading screen in Skyrim that suggests that dragons can sometimes fight each other. "A battle between two dragons is actually a deadly verbal debate." But I've never seen it. Finished the game 3 times, fought multiple dragons at once and they were always working together. So... 1. Have you guys ever seen a dragon take on another dragon? (Ohdaviing and Paarthurnax don't count). 2. What if I edited the dragons and set their relationship with the dragon faction to 1? Would it make them kill each other? And do you guys think that would break the main quest (I'm thinking of the Elder Scroll "flashback" scene)? Thanks.

Hello all, The modding noob that I am needs some help. I've got the latest version of the Jaysus Swords mod. Works great. I've got Third Era Weapons MasterOfShadows edition 1.4. Works great too. But both mods are using the same leveled lists. Which means I can't use them both at the same time. I tried merging them through Wrye Bash but it didn't work. Created a new bashed patch, selected Rebuild Patch, added both ESPs to the leveled list, clicked on Build Patch. Wrye gave me a 36kb esp file. Which is wrong because the Jaysus ESP alone is 44kb already. Launching the game with the new ESP causes an immediate CTD. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is there another tool I can use to merge the leveled lists? Better yet, can someone merge them for me and post the file here? What? A man can dream, can't he? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Getting through Skuldafn for a sissy - any advice?
Tom2681 replied to ToniPrufrock's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I made it through Skuldafn with a LVL 13 barbarian once, in expert mode. No magic, just good smithing, good enchantments & all perk points put in two-handed and heavy armor. But I understand how a sneaky type might have more trouble. Even at LVL 40+. -
Still no fix for striping outdoor shadows?
Tom2681 replied to Moogiefluff's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I think this bug can be fixed by increasing shadowbiasscale to something like 1.00 or above. I haven't seen any shadow striping for months (bias set at 1.500 for me). -
AMD Drivers still broken.(12.3) Its a shame.
Tom2681 replied to totalwarman's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Errmm... I have the same specs as you (HD6870, Catalyst 12.3RC, Skyrim 1.4) and don't have that issue. Have you tried multisample anti-aliasing instead of supersample? My game runs perfect, so I wonder if your problems are related to CCC or skyrimprefs settings. EDIT: Looking at your video, it could be anisotropy-related as well. -
Wars in Skyrim had wild horses at some point. Don't know if they're still there, though.

Get rid of ENB, grab realistic lighting without postprocessing. Vibrant realistic colors, vanilla performance. Problem solved, no? (to be honest, you'll never achieve an ENB-like level of quality with that mod, but you can get pretty close).

*Spoilers* Dark Brotherhood Intiation Bug
Tom2681 replied to MagisterEpic's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I've had the exact same problem as MagisterEpic when I did my first Skyrim playthrough. I think it has to do with the way you kill Grelod. I killed her like a true psychopath, right in front of the kids, with an axe to the face. Went back to Aventus, got my shitty reward, slept everywhere, courier never showed up. On my second playthrough, I did it the right way. Followed Grelod to her room, closed the door and killed her in her sleep. Courier showed up, got kidnapped, started the questline, no issues. Obviously it's a bit late for you to change that. -
The ENBSeries mod will fix that for you, but at the cost of some performance.

@Vasito: First you need to understand what the difficulty settings do. Every setting changes the amount of damage you cause vs the amount of damage you take. Above adept difficulty, you need to be smarter in your approach. You can't run at people with your giant axe raised like a barbarian. Use a shield, block as much as you can, go in and out like a boxer. When fighting multiple opponents, incapacitate some of them with a FusRoDah, use magical runes, run circles around them. In the wilderness, keep your ethereal shout ready. Use it whenever a bear or a giant cat pounces. Of course it'll kill you in one shot. That's the way it's supposed to be. As far as pre-fight strategy goes: Put the majority of your points in health, heavy armor and blocking. Enchant your armor to fortify health. Use potions or the stoneflesh spell to give you a boost. If you want some good mods: -Enduring dragons: It just gives them more health, which means they'll win in a fight against a giant. -Combat damage multiplier: makes weapons for the player AND the NPCs more powerful. It doesn't make the game any easier or harder, but it makes every move very important because one missed strike can mean life or death. -The blocking part of "Deadly Combat": makes shields more effective. Sorry to hear you're not enjoying your experience. I'm absolutely loving Skyrim on adept difficulty with these few tweaks.
-
Texture overlap. Probably anti-aliasing related, as Project VRD says. Try different settings in CCC for AA (multisample / adaptive / supersample). Might want to change your Catalyst AI setting as well.

Regardless of who wins this little civil war, imperials and stormcloaks will probably unite and fight off the Thalmor together. What happens in Skyrim is insignificant in the grand scale of things.
-
If this were happening outside, I'd tell you to set fShadowBiasScale to 1.5000 in skyrimprefs.ini. But I'm not familiar with the lighting in Proudspire Manor, so I don't know if that'll help.

What is in a gamesave, that grows with time?
Tom2681 replied to Arnkell's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
SSD does make a difference. For bloated savegame files: I'm no expert but I believe most of that is dropped weapons. When NPCs die, there's a chance that their weapon will be separated from their corpse. Bodies are removed, weapons are not. It takes a lot of space to save the location of every single weapon. There's a mod called "possessive corpses" that can help you with that. You're lucky with your 6.6 mb. I'm up to 11 megabytes with a level 13 character already. -
You my friend are using the classic map by IcePenguin, aren't ya? Now there's your problem right there.

Hello, fellow Elderscrollers. So I've nearly finished the game. Pretty satisfied with how it went, except that I don't think I did it like I was "supposed to". For example, I did the Dark Brotherhood questline after winning the civil war with the Stormcloaks. So you've got the Emperor, his cousin and their special forces showing up in what is effectively "hostile territory". That's pretty bad. That quest should have taken place while Solitude was still under imperial control. Also I can't help but feel that I've obtained too much money and too much quality equipment early on, making the game incredibly easy. Is there a correct order? Should the civil war quests be done early or late? Should the main quest be done all in one go, or one bit at a time? How did you guys do it?
