  1. Okay... that sounds very, very wrong. Next time you try, see if you can get a refid (try doing a 'tfc' console command, fly around, and see if you can select the guy and get his id). Then we can pinpoint what encounters/quest that NPC is used for, and hopefully track down what it is that is causing the problem. If that doesn't work, if you're willing to use the console, I think there are a few makeshift ways we can solve this.
  2. And you're saying that the NPC that attacks you might be a Silverhand? The key to finding out what the issue is, is finding out who the heck that NPC is. Can you get a refid for him?
  3. What part are you at in the Companions questline?
  4. I hate to ask you to do this, but you should try re-installing. The issue you're having is related to the skin-tints of a certain race not being properly set in the masterfile. Reinstalling the game may repair your masterfile and fix the issue. Can't make any promises, though. I completely understand the frustration, though. How annoying!
  5. And just one last check... you're absolutely positive that you have the newest patch applied? The database says that this issue was fixed (for 360 at least) in the last patch.
  6. I think I've seen this issue before -- a few questions first: - Does your character's face seem to render properly? - Is your character the only one with the black texture? Are other khajit having the same issue? - Have you tried putting the graphics on different settings (low, medium) and does that make a difference? - Did this problem occur when you were creating your character as well? When did the problem start? There's a small chance I may be able to help.
  7. I was having that issue on my brand-new PC when I first got the game -- I think it has to do with your drivers. If you haven't already, try updating to the latest version, and see if that does anything for you.
  8. As far as I know, the launcher will always do that. Even all the people at Bethesda don't run the game from the launcher most of the time because it does that. Run from the .exe after you have selected the data files you want from the launcher and then made the changes to the .ini. If anyone has found a workaround, I would love to know about it.
  9. It says a key is necessary even when you attempt to change the position of the rings on the door? Just want to clarify.
  10. I'm going to look into this further, but I can't find anything in the bug database about it, nor can I find any reasons why that would be happening (that kind of thing usually only happens on PS3). Unfortunately, I can't make a big deal out of it because you have mods installed, and that basically makes problems extremely difficult to pinpoint. I would usually suggest that you untick the mod datafiles when you load up the game next time and see if that gets rid of the issue, but you have so many mods installed, that I'm not sure the game would load correctly at all. I'll update you if I find anything else, but in the meantime, I am (not happily) going to tell you that temporarily removing the mods one by one and seeing if that helps might be the best solution right now. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but the number of mods you're using could cause all sorts of problems that wouldn't show up immediately (like you said -- you hadn't made changes in a while). I'll update you if I find anything.
  11. Hmmm... I'm sorry that's happening. Seems odd. I'll see if I can find anything else on it, but in the meantime, do what you did on the disc to get it to run. Hope you don't have any more issues! (Wishful thinking...)
  12. Ah, you're not the only one having that issue. I'll look into it some more. Still not exactly sure what is causing that issue, but I'll see if I can come up with anything else. Sorry I wasn't able to help you more!
  13. Try running the game through Steam (i.e. clicking on the game in the steam library) instead of using a shortcut. Tell me if that solves the problem!
  14. Did you have it before installing a patch and then not have it after updating, perchance?
  15. Can you elaborate a little bit? What kinds of "changes" have you made in the past? Any mods installed? Are you updated to the latest patch? Also, a screenshot would really help.
  16. Not a bug. Elisif is never "crowned". If you want to see the quests that involve her at all, see her UESP page.
  17. Well, every NPC is different, and where one might be negatively affected by a mod, another might not. If the NPCs (Brynjolf and Vex) weren't negatively affected by this mod somehow, then the Ragged Flagon would be fine too. The only reason those other locations were crashing was because of some issue that the game was having with the modded npcs that were located there. I'm glad you were able to figure out the issue. Cheers!
  18. Yes. The thing you have to remember is that the issues you were having will still occur unless you load a save from before you activated the mod and continue on from there. If you load a save you made while the mod was activated, then you'll have the same problems (and maybe even more, now that the mod is gone completely). Tell me if that works.
  19. So, if you can clarify -- -You attempt to enter Whiterun (the city) and crash? -You attempt to enter the Riverwood Traders, and you crash? If the two above statements are true, I'm sorry to say that it sounds like whatever you did to your npcs is causing the problem. Even if you removed the "mod" from the data folder. Can you tell if the effects of the mod still persist even after you took them out of the folder? In what way did you edit them? Did the NPC editor created a .esp file that you then put in your data folder? If you took that out, are you loading a save before you tried using the mod? Because if you attempt to load a save that you made while using the mod, the effects will probably still be there.
  20. Ah, now that's useful to know. You "modified" these NPCs? How did you modify them? If you modified them yourself, I may be able to help, but if you have 3rd party mods installed, I won't be.
  21. Can you give some more detail? What did you attempt to set the stage to? Have you tried finding out what stage that quest is currently at? Does Astrid have any quest dialogue? Does anything happen if you wait for a few hours (in-game)? Did Festus tell you to go talk to Astrid at the end of his dialogue? Did you skip through Festus's dialogue when you turned the quest in?
  22. Is there any chance your follower got hit by the Marked for Death shout by accident? A good way to find out is to select your follower in the console, and then type "getav damagresist". If the value returned is some absurd negative value, the follower was probably a victim of Marked for Death. If so, you should do the following: - Select your follower in the console - Type "forceav damagresist #", where # is what you think the armor rating of your companion should be. They should be back to normal in no time. But be careful where you aim that shout next time!
  23. Can you give some more detail? Does it crash whenever you enter any store at all? (ex. Acacia's Cauldron) Any interior at all? What kind of crash? How far are you in the game?
  24. It targets the collision wall and disables it. You should probably use it after you used the console the first time, because I'm not sure what affect it would have on the quest progression if you did it beforehand.
  25. Try typing the following and see if it works: prid 000F0EA9 disable If it doesn't, let us know!
