  1. I've found a "work around" for this problem...for those who might also be experiencing it. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but basically I just used the console command to proceed to the next quest after entering the castle. I looked online for the quest order and console command number. It's important that you chose the right one, because apparently the next quest is whether or not you chose to play as a vampire. So you'll need to enter the correct one. After I did the console command, I appeared in the castle...halfway though a conversation with the head vampire. I turned down his offer and he banished me. It removed the quest marker to TAKE SERANA HOME, and gave me a new one. I haven't played through the entire questline yet, so I don't know if it will have any issues long term. So far it seems to be working correctly. After this point, I can't use her as a follower unless I dismiss all other followers. Before then, I couldn't get rid of her if I wanted to. I don't know if this is a bug in my game or not...I use UFO.
  2. I can't seem to get into the castle upon bringing Serana home for the first time...here's what is happening. I land on the island with Serana. She gives me her "speech" about shutting my trap and let her do the talking. We walk up the hill to the castle door. The old dude opens the gate, but never acknowledges that Serana is standing there. He doesn't give his speech either..."Blah Blah Blah...Serana has returned". She looks at me, he looks at me, but they never interact with each other. Another vampire is stuck on the outside of the castle door...trying to enter, but can't. He does the door opening animation, but stays on the outside of the castle. I can talk to him but he just says..."Don't talk to me meat"...or something like that. I can click on the door but it never opens. I've never experienced a bug like this one. I try selecting the door and typing enable, but that doesn't work either.

  5. Has anyone else had trouble opening the castle door to Serena's home? The old dude says "Serana is back" but I can't open the door to enter the castle. She won't go in either. I thought is was related to my followers (I had 3 followers), but I dismissed them and still nothing. I even went back to before the castle was "discovered" and dismissed all my followers, and it still didn't help. I saw a few posts online about this problem, but I never could find a solution. I can't be the only one experiencing this.
  6. No_Aardvarks_Allowed The mod you are referring to only works for the standard arrows (not bolts). Phoenixn I would make one, but not sure how. I looked for the bolt.nif in the meshes file, but it doesn't say anything about the bolt quiver (as it's shown on the body). It only has the "bolt" and "bolt projectile".
  7. Does anyone know if there's a mod to remove the crossbow bolt quiver? I don't want to disable how the crossbow is used, just make the quiver disappear on the character's body. No matter what armor I wear (or my followers) it either looks like it floats away from my body or clips into my female follower's asses. It really looks kinda goofy IMHO, compared to the standard bow quiver. And YES, I am aware of the mods to make it closer to the body...that doesn't do the trick either.
  8. I have a few mods on here, but not sure if it's the one you want. Do a search...type in "sexy" "skimpy"...see if that works. Sometimes mods get taken down, so it may not exist anymore.
  9. I've had the same problem. I wanted to make all of the guards a unique race and give them full body tattoos, but it wouldn't let me. Couldn't ever figure out how to do it.
  10. Thanks for the tips. I never thought about disabling the mods until the beginning sequence ends. You would think that a clean start would be the most common sense way to have a bug free (as free as possible) game. I'll give it a try and let you know.
  11. I've started over about 10 times in the past 2 days and can't get past the first day (game time). My game started to crash half way through the carriage ride to Helgen. Then it crashed at the character creation menu part. After that, it crashed when the dragon came to Helgen. I finally made it to Riverwood and thought my problems were over, but it crashed again before night time...just standing in the middle of the street. Now I'm back to crashing at the character creation part. I've had the occasional crashing problem before, but not like this. Most of the time it occurred on fast travel or changing cells, but now it's just a random times for now apparent reason.
  12. I have the same thing. I have over 700 hours of playtime and just recently saw the same message. I can't even start a new game past the character selection part. The game just crashes. I've deleted and reinstalled Skyrim.esm 5 times in the past 2 days. I don't know if this is relating to my problem, but I didn't get this message before today.
  13. I had the same problem. Make sure the Dawnguard.esm is checked in your mod manager list. You would think it would automatically check when you download, but mine didnt. You don't even have to be level 10. I just started a new game and the first guard I talked to told me about the Dawnguard quest.
  14. I deleted the defaultmale.hkx and defaultfemale.hkx and it seemed to have worked. I'll keep playing around and let you know if I have any issues. Thanks for the info.
  15. I removed the magicbehavior file and it didn't fix the problem. I do have modded animations thought (pretty female idles, better running with bow animations), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Those are in the animation folder not the behavior folder.
  16. I just did and it didn't work. I also noticed that if I equip the crossbow in 3rd person, then switch to 1st person, the crossbow is invisible in my hand. All I can see is the arrow (bolt). The only time I can see the crossbow is when I'm walking in 3rd person (weapon unequipped) and in 1st person before I equip it. I really want to use the crossbow...I always play as an archer and it is cool for what little I can use it, but the annoying animations make it really hard to enjoy the game.
  17. I don't use FNIS or AP and I'm having the problem. I disabled the 0_master.hkx and it didn't make a difference. The only other file I have in that folder is magicbehavior.hkx. It's really annoying...hopefully someone can figure out a solution.
  18. Has anyone else had problems with the crossbow animations? When I equip the crossbow and try to run in 3rd person, it looks like I'm a statue rolling along on skates with the crossbow in my hand. If I switch to 1st person, it looks normal. Also, when the slow mo "kill cam" does its cinematic animation, I just stand or sit still and nothing happens. I noticed that there's several DLC folders in the Dawnguard BSA folder that are not in my DATA folder. Could that be the issue? I can't imagine that I have to manually drag and drop them into my mesh/animation folders.
  19. I got it to work...it had nothing to do with the female guard mod. I reinstalled it, but noticed that the Dawnguard.esm box wasn't checked in my mod manager. As soon as I checked it and started the game, the first guard I talked to gave me the vampire speech...starting the quest.
  20. One of my mods converts all the guards to female , so I originally thought that might be the problem, but I disabled it...fast traveled 10 times to make the vanilla male guards take effect, but they still won't say anything but the normal stuff.
  21. Thanks for the info. I guess Steam thinks everyone should just "know" how to do everything. Their site is definitely not user friendly. I guess it's too much trouble to put a "install now" or "active DLC after downloading" button...as long as they get their $20, that's all they really care about. Its funny...they seem to make it very easy to find the "pay now" button.
  22. My guards won't say anything except the same old stupid crap they always say. Nothing about vampires or anything new. I found the Dawnguard.esm in my data folder but no .esp file. Should there be one too?
  23. I've clocked in over 600 hours in this game and still have trouble with Steam (finding stuff). How do you start the Dawnguard questline? I just want the crossbows. I've traveled to Dawnstar...thinking that was a logical place to start and...nothing.
  24. I'm having a problem making certain NPCs wear specific outfits in the game. For example, I want all the Companions to wear the Wolf armor. I open the CK, make the changes, save before exiting and start game. The all keep their Skyrim default outfits on. Aela still wears Ancient Draugr armor, not the Wolf armor. I go up to her...hit resurrect and still she appears in the Ancient Draugr armor. This only seems to happen with trainers and followers for some reason. If I change a random farmer or shopkeeper, the outfits change to match the CK outfits. Also, when I change the NPCs weight in the CK, it doesn't change in game either. I have to go up to them manually and change their weight with console commands. I even have the mod making these changes load last...still nothing. I don't seem to remember this happening a few months ago...maybe it has something to do with the latest update? I know it's some kind of bug...just wondering if there's a fix or workaround for it.
