  1. If I already changed parts of several mods (.esp files), then merge them, will the changes that I made transfer to the new "combined" mod, or will it resort back to the default .ESP values? For example, I used the TERA Armors mod because it adds 40 armors to the game. All I did was change some of the meshes and texture files with other modded Armors...Huntress armor, Triss Armor, Field Mage Armor...so I can assign several female NPCs with the new armors. So instead of having 40 separate .ESP in my game, now I just have 1. So if I make Ysolda wear the Huntress outfit before I merge the files, will she still wear it after the merge, or do I have to go back and reassign every NPC again? If I have to reassign them, I'll wait on doing this. I already spent over 100 hours modding several armor, and race mods so every predominant male and female NPC wears a unique outfit. Plus all female enemies...forsworn, vampires, bandits, witches, hags, mages...have unique body meshes and different body tattoos. Just wish I knew about his earlier.
  2. The animations that I want to replace aren't technically "idles". They are in the same group as "drunk walk" and "drunk dance" where everyone starts waving their arms up and down when a bard sings. The males and females share the same animation. I want to make the women use one of the modded "dancing" animations but not the men.
  3. There are several animations that apply to either male or female...walk, run, sit, swing weapon,... but there are some that apply to both. I want to know if there is a way to apply these "gender neutral" animations to just one sex...without affecting the other. Here's what I'm talking about. I travel with a couple of female followers and noticed that they kept switching from the standard female "idle" to one called "study" which is where they put their hand up to their chin, and another one where they nod their head and hold their arms up like saying "what's up" or something. It finally got on my nerves enough so I decided to fiddle around with the animations to make it look more natural. I replaced the two other "gender neutral" animations with two different female idle animations, so now it looks like they alternate between three female idles while standing still. It looks pretty cool, because they rarely stand the same way at the same time...increasing immersion. The only problem is that the male NPCs do the same. So now when I visit a market place and a male NPC is standing there it looks like he is standing like a girl. I also hate the way the female jarls sit slouched down, so I replaced the "jarl sit" animation with the standard female sit animation, but it looks kinda sissy for the male jarls to sit this way. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. If I can get it to work, I'll upload it as a mod to share.
  4. I have this issue as well. To date, I have over 1200 hours and I think I've only actually played through the whole game once. I've never finished Dawnguard and just uploaded Dragonborn. I have started over at least 30 times (conservatively). My main issue is that I'll discover some really cool mods about halfway through the game and wish I had them from the start. Either that, or my game starts crashing at weird parts and I have to play through old saves just to get back to where I was. I try to keep to as close to realism as possible ,not fast traveling, keeping carry weight to under 200, try to sleep every night..., so anytime the game starts freaking out on me, it kills the immersion. I tell myself every time I start a new game that "this will be the last time"...it seems to never be. I also spend a lot of time customizing my game by making custom followers with special equipment, dressing up prominent NPCs with their own outfits (to reduce the redundancy of everyone wearing the same thing), so anytime I encounter something "not quite right" I spend hours tweaking the game and feel like I should just start over. I like to feel "lost" in the game, but am also a perfectionist and take just as much enjoyment seeing my hours of work paying off when I encounter someone that I changed in the CK, and it actually working in game. Of course, this has the exact opposite effect when it doen't work. I am also new to modding...having never modded before playing this game. Every time I discover something that I can do with the CK or Nifskope, I go crazy and revamp my whole game...thus leading to just starting over again. Oh well, I can't really complain. It's a labor of love so I enjoy the work as much as the play. I'm also kind of afraid to actually finish the game...like not wanting a vacation to end, or not wanting your favorite movie to end. Because when it does...what do I do now.
  5. Cool...thanks. I've never used it, but want to learn to merge mods and apparently you can with it.
  6. Did this mod get deleted or moved? I searched for it, but can't seem to find it. The closest one is a tutorial on how to merge mods with TESVSnip.
  7. Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone wil make one.
  8. Is there a mod or someway to make dead dragons seem like a tree or rock where you can't walk thru them? It really kills immersion when my character get close enough to loot them, but keeps walking like I'm standing inside them
  9. Argent Iron Armor for CBBE. I use them in my game too. You'll have to retexture them yourself though. .
  10. I tried that one. It works great on dungeons, but I need a torch to see inside my own house.
  11. Every dark dungeon mod that I've tried also makes the inside of buildings too dark. I'm using Enhsnced Lights and FX and love it, but the dungeons are too bright. I want to have to use a torch or light spell to see...for realism. Does anyone know a dark dungeon mod that works well and ONLY makes dungeons dark?
  12. I've already tried the "Verify Integrity of Game" and it didn't work.
  13. The graphics were the same as they always have been. I was playing for a while, then closed the game to work on a mod in the CK. I tried starting the game again and it wouldn't load. All the mod did was changed the clothing on a NPC...nothing I haven't done 100 times before. I even tried to load it with the mod disabled, but that didn't help either. It's like the game starts up then freezes as soon as the Syrim logo comes up. After I close it out (with Cntl, Alt, Del) the computer won't let me start it again. Somehow it's running in the background and the only way to get out of it is to reboot.
  14. I already uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim from Steam, so please don't reply with that as a solution. I can't get Skyrim to start playing. I open the Steam menu...press the play button. The screen goes black with the Skyrim logo on it, but nothing happens. It just gets stuck there. The options to play, load, start new...don't even show up. I can't exit, load,...nothing. I have to use Cntl Alt Del to get to the Task Manager just to get back to Desktop. I try to start it again, but it tells me it's already running. I try to exit Steam, but it tells me to stop playing Skyrim before I can exit. I'm not playing, as far as I can tell. Somehow the computer thinks it's running in the background. I have to shut down my computer to get it to let me load it again. The process repeats. I've played over 1500 hours and never had this problem before. Any suggestions?
  15. I use the 360 controller and when I push the left stick all the way up, I run. I have to push it halfway to walk. I want to disable the "run" effect and just either walk or sprint.
  16. Is there a mod or console command that makes your character walk the speed when you're over encumbered, but still let's you sprint when you want to? I want my character to walk...actually walk, not run, when I just move forward, but also let's me sprint.
  17. I originally saved it as a new .ESP, but neither of the cloaks or bandoliers would show in game. Only by accidentally saving it under the cloaks.esp that the cloaks would show in game. I even added the bandoliers and saved it in the bandolier.esp file, but that didn't work either. The only thing that I can think of is that the cloaks mod has a master file, and the bandolier doesn't, so for some reason when the cloaks.esp is active, it overrides the bandolier.esp and removes them from the outfits. Makes no sense, but there's a lot of things that make no sense with the CK. I was hoping someone encountered this problem and found a way around it.
  18. I want to add cloaks and bandoliers to various existing NPCs in the game...bandits. Here's what I do... Open CK. Click Data. Select Cloaks.esp, select bandolier.esp. Make Cloaks.esp the active file. Go to bandit outfits. Add cloaks and bandolier to all bandit outfits. Save new Cloaks.esp. Here's the problem...Only the cloaks are showing in game. When I open the CK again with the Cloaks.esp set as active, the bandoliers don't even show up as part of the new outfit. Is there a way to get both of them to show up in game as part of the new bandit "outfit"?
  19. Does anyone know how to combine 2 mesh files into 1 nif file? Here's what I'm trying to do... I want to take the boots_0.nif file and the legging part of another cuirass_0.nif into a single boot file...giving my character a thigh high boot look without having to use the body armor mod. I pull up the boot_0.nif into Nifskope. I pull up the cuirass_0.nif in another Nifskope box. They are of the same parent node so I can copy one to the other. I select the legging part of the cuirass file...right click...copy branch. Then I select the parent node in the other Nifskope box, with the boot.nif file...right click...paste branch. The obj. shows up in the Nifskope screen, but when I play the game it doesn't show. I know there must be someway to make it tell Nifskope that the new object is the "new" boot.nif file, but I'm missing a step somewhere.
  20. Thanks for the tip. That works perfectly.
  21. I'll try the numbers that you mentioned, but ideally I want to zoom our just far enough to see my character's entire body on screen...not just the waist up. I don't play with a keyboard and mouse, I use the Xbox 360 controller, so I don't have the luxury of the mouse wheel zooming. I just want to have 2 views...one for 3rd person, and the standard first person one.
  22. All I know is that when I look at the landscape areas of Skyrim, the game shows 60 FPS and it runs smoothly...I can turn without lag. When I turn around and look at my 3 followers, the frame rate drops to 30 and it looks like I'm watching a movie on a security camera or cheap web cam. I'm sure it's not really 30 FPS, but it's what my computer is telling me. It's probably closer to 5 or so. It's like one of those time lapse cameras that take video of parking lots or outside of a Walmart.
  23. What is the best balance for the Syrim.ini settings for performance and quality. I know there are some online where you can copy and paste, but was wondering if anyone knew one to recommend. I HATE CTDs more than anything, the next most annoying thing is FPS lagging. I'm willing to sacrifice some quality to avoid these issues, but don't want to cut out areas that don't affect performance. Also, my PC seems to max out at 60 FPS, but drops down to 30 in heavy NPC areas...Making it lag very bad. The 60 FPS looks great, and I would love if it never dropped below that, but if its possible to get it higher, I'd like to find out.
  24. I want to view my character in 3rd person when in non-combat mode, but the camera is too close to my character's body. I want to view it farther from behind and a little higher. I know that you can adjust the Skyrim.ini settings under (camera), but I can't figure out the numbers to get it to zoom far back enough. I know about the TFC console command, but that's not what I'm talking about.
  25. Does anyone know how to create a new NPC with a standalone animation file...like standalone body files. I want to create new female NPCs with different idle animations than every other female in the game.
