  1. I know creators hate this question but I gotta ask because I'm going crazy waiting; any rough idea of when the basic alpha of this mod will be released? The eating / drinking / sleeping / survivability part I mean?:) Also while I am thinking about it, the game basically rains food upon you. On bodies, on farms, in barrels and sacks in the streets, dungeons filled with barrels and sacks all full of FREE, bountiful, no challenge, easy grab gigantic stockpiles of food. To make the challenge of hunger more of a challenge are you intending to reduce the tonnes of free food laying around the world and increasing the cost to buy it? With a civil war raging, hordes of bandits pillaging caravans and of course dragons laying fire to farms and villages I would hope that food would become extremely hard to come by and more expensive to buy from the NPCs
  2. I imagine you'd need a huge pile of spices to make THAT tasty...
  3. How does Person A releasing a mod prevent others starting theirs? ~baffled~ Unless the other person is very insecure who falsely views the modding scene as a competition.
  4. Is there a command to turn it back on again? Or does it work as a toggle, i.e. typing it again turns it back on?
  5. They are not better at all but cover so far more textures than other mods like "Skyrim HD - 2K Textures" for instance. But when this mod will be finished, it will be way better than the official textures. 2K Texture pack is seriously overrated. It changes the look of the art direction way too much and looks very amateurish. The official pack from Beth does not change the art direction but still enhances the original textures, something 2K fails utterly to do imo.
  6. Skyrim is without doubt one of the most easiest, hand-held RPGs ever made. How could it POSSIBLY be hard? :D
  7. I kind of agree. What I would like to see is a Hybrid fast travel system. You can ONLY fast travel to the stables in the major cities, then you can pay them to take you to any discovered landmark in the game that is along or slightly near the roads of Skyrim. They should charge double for a customised dangerous trip and they are gone when they drop you off. [Maybe the sound of a carriage and horse galloping off after the loading screen] Maybe even distance based? i.e. a trip from the whiterun stables to secundas kiss costs 25 gold, but from Markath stables to High Hrothgar might be 500. All other fast travel is disabled. I'd make this myself if I knew how. How possible would something like that be shooter?:)
  8. Not that I'd ever compare a bank robbery to illegally downloading a copy of software, but I agree with your point. I can't believe the guy is actually trying to justify piracy by being out of work. Be amusing to watch in court as a defense.
  9. Not everybody is immersed by the same things that immerse you. Those things are nice but not necessary for immersion [in my opinion] and hardly even in the top 20 for "main theme of immersion"
  10. Here you go: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=746 You basically have three options. 1) Completely shut them up forever , 2) Reduce the distance they talk to you so you have to bump into them to make them comment 3) A slight reduction in the distance you have to be before they talk to you. I have found option 3 suits my needs. I find it much more quieter, peaceful and I have to kind of zoom past the NPC delieberately to get them to comment now.
  11. How's the mod coming along? I assume nothing can go forward without the CK?
  12. If Vanilla Skyrim is "fine" what are you doing at a modding site? I agree with the others, Vanilla Skyrim is hand-held nonsense unplayable without mods.
  13. I'll believe it when it's released. Whenever Bethsoft or Todd Howard make a statement, I believe the total opposite based on their past record of smoke and mirrors PR.
  14. Manshooter considers health regen to be a bug, it'll be totally gone in his mod. The only thing sleep will do is remove sleep deprivation, with no sort of healing... thank goodness.
  15. It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who would not play these games without modding. Vanilla TeS games are like watching A Dungeon Siege Tale: IN the name of the king, and having a controller attached to the monitor -pretending- you're being challenged and in control of the story ;-)
  16. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Creation_Kit http://www.vg247.com/2011/07/07/creation-kit-release-to-come-at-least-very-close-to-skyrim-launch-says-howard/ http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/35678/Interview_Todd_Howard_On_Scope_Vision_Of_Skyrim.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+GamasutraNews+%28Gamasutra+News%29&utm_content=Google+Reader Owned ;)
  17. No I think overhaul is perfect. Most of the changes [fixes actually] in this mod are VERY necessary for many of us, so much in fact we aren't playing the game until mods like this are out. For those who hate hand holding then this game is seriously broken for them and definitely needs fixing.
  18. I disagree with EVERYTHING you said. Planescape Torment is one of many examples of games that have stories as deep as a good book. As for Howard's comment regarding not being able to have a sandbox game with a good enough story to match, that's just him admitting "We aren't that good at writing storyline quests..." Plenty of others can.
  19. But what about if you are using something like the 999 day respawn mod? Won't that mean the corpses will lay around for 999 days too? I thought a respawn cleans up it's last corpse.
  20. Remember the dispose of corpse option in Morrowind? I am wondering if when you use MarkForDelete on an NPC corpse, will it decrease the size of gamesave files? [in past Tes games the body would disappear on a reload] I am hearing that corpses increase save file size, which could be a problem with a current mod that sets respawns to 999 days, yes? So am thinking of making a mod where you "Cast" a destroy corpse spell [Really is just a sound effect and MarkForDelete on the corpse] I imagine this could be dangerous if you cast it on quests npcs or other plot critical world items. Lastly, would MarkForDelete on a corpse destroy it's respawn timer/override a 999 day respawn mod to default? Thanks!
  21. You hit the nail on the head %100. After being burned by the massive pile of hand holding and zero challenge Oblivion and Fallout 3 provided, I swore I wouldn't start playing Skyrim until the community had developed a list of mods I knew from experience would make the game playable for me. Vanilla Skyrim seems even more dumbed down than Oblivion and Fallout 3, so once I start playing it with the list of mods I need [28 mods already done, just 2 more I'm waiting on and I'm good to go]-, it'll be a blast and a challenge for me then. I'd recommend shelving it and doing the same. I find the modding community to be far more talented than Bethsoft when it comes to adding challenge and roleplay to Beth's games.
  22. You can die from Hypothermia in 13 minutes in any water temperature lower than 32 degrees F
  23. IN THE WORLD OF SKYRIM [Note: NOT Earth] magic, stealth is quite realistic. Please desist with old, tired, irrelevant arguments. If you don't like realism mods, don't use them and don't berate those who are making them.
