  1. There's a mod that I feel has a better take on the same idea. It changes the Draugr loot to old coins instead of Septims. Then you have to trade the ancient coins in for "modern" money. Forget what it's called, but it's part of an overall dungeon loot overhaul.
  2. I tend to think of TES, and Skyrim in particular as having technology closer to the mid middle ages or even the high to late middle ages, it's just not distributed evenly. In the case of books, yes, there's probably a lot of imports from Cyrodil or High Rock and not many made in Skyrim itself.
  3. Guarding Valerica could just have been one more task they request as part of larger demands. Or they might've known she'd come - they're the ideal masters, so who knows what knowledge they have access to?
  4. Not with those metal pauldrons though. Armour of Intrigue is a closer match to the posted screenshot.
  5. Looks like the Armour of Intrigue (which does indeed use Witcher assets): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36875/?
  6. Could be a lot of things. Static Mesh Improvement Mod, maybe?
  7. Trying to use some ported armours for a mashup (for both genders) and they only extend to just below the knees. Adding any of the existing bodies underneath is just too much of a nightmare in terms of clipping and various efforts in Outfit Studio haven't worked out very well due to some odd geometry from the original port (it has a very un-Skyrim bodyshape) that seems to still apply itself even after you transform everything in OS. I can make it work in Nifskope and in-game... just not in OS. All I need to do is cover from just under the knees to the ankle seam. The easiest thing is to simply add a mesh for the lower legs and not the whole torso but I've looked through the existing greaves mods and they're intended as actual armour and are too bulky. Does anyone know of a an armour or costume which contains a body mesh with just the lower legs (need both male and female)? Or, alternately a mod with very close-fitting greaves/leggings/puttees/gaiters/legwarmers/legwraps etc. which would be functionally the same thing? Also, armours with forearm bodymesh/close wraps would also be good, but that's not as pressing. Any ideas? Thanks!

  9. Since most of us are amateurs, voice is less important than your dictation and the quality of sound editing. As the fella said - post a clip!
  10. Been thinking of making a replacer for the Skyrim Vampire armours, but I'm kind of wondering where to start. My first thought was to get an idea of the clothes or armour of the era when Harkon would have locked Serana up (because Valerica and Serana are wearing similar armour to the other vampires despite being in hiding for hundreds of years, we can assume that the existing Skyrim vampire armours reflect the fashion the Volkihar clan was into back then and hasn't changed over time). So I thought about maybe looking at other outfits from that period. A little background: So as the "When was Serana locked away?" thread confirmed, Lord Harkon would have started his plans sometime fairly late during the Interregnum before Tiber Septim comes to power. The earlier half of the Interregnum is actually the period covered by TES Online, during which Molag Bal tries to take over Nirn (by merging Coldharbour with it). Anyway it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that maybe Molag Bal was receptive to the idea of having vampires more loyal and worshipful to him following his big failure, so maybe Harkon was able to contact Molag Bal and get a better "deal" with him more easily than would usually be the case. So it should be easy, right? Just look at some TESO vampires right? Well... As far as I know, neither Harkon nor any other vampire or Volkihar characters of Dawnguard are ever referenced by TESO. There have been many factions or groups of Vampires over the history of TES, and the Volkihar seem to be a special, unique case. The diseases that cause vampirism in Morrowind or Oblivion (porphyric hemophilia) or TESO (noxiphilic sanguivoria) are different from the sanguinare vampiris transmitted by the Volkihar vampires. In TESO the vampires seem to follow Lamae Bal's far more common teaching among vampires that they're all victims of Molag Bal and thereby hate him and wish to destroy him. Only the Volkihar clan seems to worship or think well of Molag Bal. Point being that there's not much mileage in looking at TESO Vampires for ideas, 'cause they're so different. So with that in mind, what other elements of TESO might be used as an inspiration for an alternate Vampire armour or clothing for a rich and powerful clan of nordic humans? The viking-ish armour of TESO is no guide, because the Volkihars seem more the refined type than the average nord. The Volkihar clan remembers Solitude, and it's been the capital of Skyrim for a fairly long time, but I'm not sure if that means much. One idea is something vaguely Asian because the Second Empire had had an Akaviri influence for a long time. But during the era of TESO there's also a huge Akaviri invasion in the north (the second and final one, which was eventually repelled in southern Skyrim IIRC) and I have no idea how the Volkihar clan would have dealt with that. Was he opposed? Was Castle Volkihar a bastion against the Akaviri or built in response to it? Maybe Harkon turned his back on the living races after being betrayed or abandoned during the invasion of the north? Or was he in collusion with the invaders? Honestly you could probably make up whatever story you liked. I'm probably overthinking this way too much, but it's sort of an interesting question, I guess. It started as a simple idea about an outfit replacer and ended up as the question of what the origins of the Volkihars was. Any thoughts?
  11. Pretty sure that Kirkblade story is a joke or parody.
  12. Surprisingly I haven't seen many scarves like that. This is the only one I remember seeing: http://modtype.doorblog.jp/archives/20128618.html Thanks for the tip. It turned out there was one in the Osari Maid outfit package, of all things. UNP Stylish Pirate also has one, though it doesn't fit with as many outfits, since it's designed to go over the pirate outfit collar.
  13. Anyone know of any neckerchief/bandana/small scarf mods or meshes in a larger mod? It seems like the only scarf mods ever made are for GIANT scarves. I don't need huge scarves which cover the shoulders, I need small ones able to fit in with small collars or bare necks. Anything close will do, but the only one I know that isn't a flat choker (which I am not looking for) is the small scarf in the Fine Imperial dress pack, but that one's been oddly manipulated in such a way that it can't be reused (for some reason the original modder placed it on the ground and then drastically manipulated the scarf position to get it around the character's neck in the outfit, so when you copy the mesh over to another .nif, the new .nif can't properly accept it). Examples of what I'm looking for: Any help would be great, thanks!
  14. I think you could play around with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8720/? to get what you need. The main purpose of that mod is that it provides duplicate custom races based on all the vanilla races for people to use body mods or other character base mods without affecting the vanilla population (and yes, you will be recognized as the corresponding vanilla race by NPCs). So playing around with this will probably get you where you want to be.
  15. I actually did a little more searching and updated it with an environment map and corrected the filepaths as well! I tried as best I could to match the reflective numbers already set up by the corset. So you guys are both correct - thanks! I think #3 was just an artifact of some weird lighting in the area I was testing, so I will probably be uploading this soon. I'm currently working on an alternate dark texture set and then I will create the plugin (which will be my first! Luckily, armour addon plugins are relatively simple).
  16. Thanks to BigAndFlabby's excellent help, my biggest problem is fixed (the mesh issue)! Just need to get the two texture problems sorted out - please see above! Post edited with a new working file as well.
  17. I've been putting together this UNP (regular old boring UNP, not the fancy variants) mashup for the past few days. http://i.imgur.com/mwIBlOz.png It started as a replacer for Oaristys' Ciri outfit (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68950/?), but now that I have all the relevant permissions from the various mesh sources, I'm hoping to delve into creation kit for the first time to make it a standalone armour (and possibly add an alternate, darker colour for thieves/assassins, etc.). However, before I get to that point, I need to polish the outfit itself. Thanks to BigAndFlabby's timely help with the buckle mesh, the only issues I have left to fix are texture-related. 1) If possible, I'd like the semi-reflective leather texture that the corset has to also appear on the pauldron (which currently has a very flat, unreflective surface). I tried adding a specular map to the pauldron (it did not have one previously), but I don't think I did so correctly, and so it's still flat and unreflective. I don't know why my specular layer isn't being applied. Some help troubleshooting what I need to to fix that would be great. 2) the chest leather was covered by a thin chainmail mesh in the original top (zzjay's Ciri DLC). It was unnecessary in this mashup (the chainmail is "underneath" in my version) so I didn't use that mesh bit as it was unnecessary. The lighting in-game seems a bit odd in that it doesn't seem to have shadows? Not sure what's going on there. Here's a link to a copy of my current working file: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-iqaUORvtshTEdGY3BUSk90OXc Any help would be great, thanks!
  18. Haha, a random thread necro actually yields a definitive answer. Interesting!
  19. Anybody know where this shield can be found? http://att.3dmgame.com/att/forum/201304/22/121025tc59lzlz9hdzddh8.jpg Thanks! Camp Argentum? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72685/?
  20. I was about to post this myself, it's been a week that I'm having problems loading nexus mod sites (new vegas, skyrim, etc). Basically I have infinite loading screens most of the time. However downloading and nexus forum are fine. I thought maybe they were working on it but now it's been a week so it must be something else. All the other sites on the internet and streaming sites are fine, so it can't be me. EDIT: I think it's a firefox problem. EDIT2: reinstalling firefox fixed all problems. I was getting it in Chrome as well as FF, but it seems to have cleared up now.
  21. Is anyone else experiencing extremely slow loading speeds for Nexus pages? All of Nexus is affected - mod pages, forum pages, images, etc. Funny enough downloads still seem to be fine - it's just the actual website that's having issues. Everything else is fine for me, Nexus is the only site affected. Wondering if there's some backend maintenance going on or something?
  22. In an effort to keep my aging potato CPU from having to think too hard, I go light on the fancy physics extensions. However, some nice armours have been coming out with more of these as requirements and I'm wondering if it's possible to remove some of those requirements from the mesh? - XPMS Extended Skeleton - HDT Physics Extensions - Realistic Ragdolls and Force (I assume this is needed to go with the HDT aspect of the armour?) HDT physics is nice to have and I can probably run this if I have to since it's not really intensive, but I had real issues with script load in my last long game and am trying to do everything I can to slim down CPU use (HDT doesn't directly interfere with scripting, but uses the CPU and so competes with scripting for processing resources). I know Realistic Ragdolls does nothing except edit a global value, but I'm also trying to make sure requirements are kept simple in case I am able to get full permissions to redistribute any planned mods, so that my own mods would have as few hard requirements as possible. I have both BodySlide & Outfit Studio and Clothing Converter, but haven't gotten much into complex work with these, only some very basic conversions. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  23. Just thinking of applying some logos to potential armours that don't link them to a hold or faction. Of course there are generic Norse symbols, like the Solar Cross, which can be used, but I was wondering if there was a symbol or badge anywhere for all of Skyrim? I know many players will be tempted to say the diamond dragon symbol, but... that's the Imperial badge!
