  1. you mentioned SKSE , Question did you try to install that with the mod manager? this is not really a mod but a Utility and must be handle differently than normal mod Gopher recently did a video of the new version SKSE and how to install it. in the past all you need to do was download it and uncompress it and then copy it into your skyrim directory now with added scripts the package has to be unarchive and the part that goes into the data directory re archive then applied with the mod manager and the rest just drag and dropped for it to work correctly. a link to Gopher's Vid here> I hope this helps
  2. if you installed obse you can't use it's launcher just run oblivion as normal you should see the little black box that indicates obse is installed and your mods that need it should run fine i'm not sure about OBGE though other than it's suppose to be an extension of OBSE so i would suggest just installing it as per instruction on it's page and just run oblvion as normal it should just work ( i've had problems usinng OBSE with my game of the year from steam ) if your not getting either to run you may have to turn on in steam under Settings > In Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam community in game. (quote directly from OBSE via NMM when trying launch via the obse_launcher) for what it's worth i've not had too many problems.
  3. @ Chuckshuck, i noticed you said you wanted to add characters, small cavat on that depending on weather or not you're using vanilla characters, if you are fine if not well 128 video memory is going to have a problem , here's why - most third party add on characters rely on prerequisites like body mod, face mods hair mods and well anything else that will fix the way the default charcaters normally look and that eats into the video memory that game requires. same with building mods (depending what was done to the building durning it's creation) in the end you can try to avoid high poly count mods Ie anything with words 1024k or higher in the name of the mod or in the discription but the short of the long your modding choices are going to be short but sweet. A decent gaming rig needs at least 1gig video card (2 or more if you can afford it) 2-3 Gigs main memory(again more if you have the cash though by 8 gigs going any further won't improve in game performance) processor high 2 low 3 gig multicore and a decent harddrive (the larger the better if you run more than one game (and mod them) (read desktop computer) and there is no getting around the fact that laptops will never ever run 3d games correctly because mobile video cards just aren't good enough to handle a gaming setup. note to others who read this this is my personal experience and not a overall representation of laptops but i think that laptop video graphics chips will never catch up to what the gaming industry is doing graphics wise.
  4. I've notice after i delete mods particularly ones that were from Steam Workshop that NMM somehow retains the info and shows it as still being there even though steam shows it unsubscribed to and the local drives shows no files pertaining to the mod. question would erasing the .xml files for Nexus Mod Manager clear the problem? Thanks in Advance
  5. I wouldn't mind seeing a Playable Fairy Race not sure about racial powers etc but there are two problems to overcome if you did do a playable fae Race one is the fact they're only 2-3 inches tall (would have to create a world space that they could live in and not feel swamped ) the other is flight (specifically hovering ) there is a Fairy mod that was done fairly well for Oblivion (i'm not asking for a coversion of that ) but (i hope ) it could be use as a resource (not sure if one can just download a mod then look how it was built ) The Mod i'm referring to is " Tiny Fairy Race with Smoother Flight " Oblivion Nexus Link: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/34953 Thanks in Advance.
  6. hate to put a kybash in what would have been a solution but i clicked the link and the mod has been marked hidden so unless you know of a mirror site or some other mod that does the same(and is available) looks like someone is going to have to figure out how to create external wordwalls and make the scripts that trigger them. NB the author has noted on page that it is no longer supported however there is still the spanish version but i don't speak the language so if some kind soul want's to retranslate it back to english it would be nice. BTW there is only 5 word walls that would need to be altered, 2 in winterhold 1 whiterun, 1 morthal, and 1 in Faltkreath to get any more explicited would mean spolier alerts As far as i can see the mod would required the following meshes and textures of the word wall , finding and adding the appropaiate word (s) of power to the new wall(s), then disabling the old wall in it's current location then creating the script that triggers the new wall when player run across it. and of course repeating this 5 times =) note: funny thing that the word of power on the wall isn't fixed it depends which location is visted (the game script for wordwalls must have a subroutine that checks for first if the word has been encountered before if so which of the three words encountered if not give the first word and then disable after the word is learned and not only would the script have that there must be a way of knowing which location (s) are suppose to have which Word of Power on the wall and what the sub words are to the word of power. If I knew what i was doing in the CK i would take a stab at it but as ii is there is a learning curve involved.
  7. there are mods that will turn off the main quest have you tried one of those? ie Live another life, You're Not the Dragonborn, Skyrim Alternate Reality and of course along with one of these you will also need The Choice is Yours (to eliminate those pesky side quest you rather not do.) BTW it's not possible to arbitrarly delete things out of skyrim since you're talking about having to go into the main esm file and then do a search for everything related to main quest . Even if you were sucessful more likely than not the game wouldn't be right, some of the code in question leads to certain side quests and may effect how it works too and then you remove that, then that effects something else and by the time you eliminated everything that would affect anything else you'd wouldn't even have a game you could play. what would be left is the kernal and few scripts which would have nothing to excute on . It sounds like something i would like to see basically Betheseda puts out a copy of skyrim that is nothing more than a shell and allow the modders to create skyrim or whatever into the game engine. something along the lines of the old Gamers Construction set on the Commodore 64
  8. your best bet would be either Wrye Bash or else you can use this small utility that works with TES5Edit Merge Plugins TES5Edit Script - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37981/?
  9. Look at this Faites des bebes http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12419
  10. And if you think that bothers you how about trying to gain access to wordwalls in dungeons that are locked due to being linked to a certain factions when you don't really want to join said factions (insert appropriate faction name here) ie mark for death one of the words is in the Dark Brotherhood Sancutuary in Falkreath to give you an idea by what i mean by locked (door isn't simply set to a very high pick requirement, though there are one or two like that) the others are setup if you unlock the door the other side is nothing but black, in other cases there is rock fall and only joining the faction and doing the required quest or gaining the approprate item will allow access. I could mention all the affected dungeons but someone would complain that i'm posting a spoiler (and at this point 99.999 percent of the readers here have probably played once if not a few times through the main quest and the side quests. and before you say why not use the console commands (try it doesn't work )besides it causes problems with quests if you're not careful basically what i would like seen done for this is transferance of those workwalls moved elsewhere (ie wordwall created outside or else placed in another dungeon and before you ask why don't I do it... welll i'm not all that great with CK or meshes or textures and any half of a dozen things required to do such a mod. (I can install em but i can't make them.)
  11. There is a Pregnacy mod , (damn mod name is in french but it comes out in english as baby maker) the mod is called Faites des bebes. it's under the Catagory Gameplay effects and changes it uses spells to aquire certain body fluids and another to deposit it , the mod also includes a way to keep track of which npc's you've enpregnated as well.
  12. unfortnatly there isn't a playable race however there are two fairy npc mods one has a flying capablity albiet it's via butterfly (mod is moth/butterfly fairly morph) the other is just a follower but the mod author is having a problem getting a hover animation (seems SKSE doesn't have script routines for this.) and the closest mod that there is, is a flying mod that using a spell. (and that has a few quirks in it.) thing is that you could create a playable race that is short statured and you can add wings and possibly have them flutter but unfortantly there is no way in skyrim's CK or papyrus scripting language to get it to hover ps. here are the mods i mentioned Lunariana -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35828 (this is the one the author is still trying to figure out how to create a hover ) Butterfly Fairy -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22542 (mod uses a alternate method of flying) here is a mod that's on oblivion nexus site that does exactly what you want . -> Tiny Fairy Race with Smoother Flight - http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/34953 p.s. one other thing to consider is the fact the character if it ever came to pass would need an entire world space made to fit the character's stature (i've notice with most fairly mods that sitting and or sleeping in ordiinary chairs and beds is impossible as the character doesn't exactly line up with default settings. ie house and chairs and beds and what have you not..
  13. Try this - Faites de Bebe -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12419 it's very basic but it does allow for pregnacy in Skyrim.
  14. There are mods out there that does this, one is called "another life" and the other is "your not the dragonborn" (i'd have to check to see i got the mod name right ) but either one should do what you want. Alternate Start - Live another life -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557/? You're not the Dragonborn -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9048/? Skyrim - An Alternate Reality -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10929/? oops my bad there actually three mods that do what you want. also you might also want to look into this mod as well (the choice is yours) it allows you to say no to random quests -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26359//?
  15. There is a way to allow Oblivion to run with two monitors full screen, but it requires that you edit the INI files the line to look for in the ini file is iAdapter and change it from 0 to 2 it took me a few minutes of tweaking but it works. PS Oblivion still only runs on the main monitor but at least you still have both of them active.
  16. The problem here is that the newer version of the steam Launcher aka the main steam program do not add the subfolder Valve to the list mine is C:\Program Files x86\Steam\SteamApps\common\Oblivion (yes i'm using a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and yes i can get Oblivion to run unfortantly i have to tell Windows to run it as Admin however the obse files don't play nicely with Steam. and i'm beginning to wonder if it might have to do with the fact my Windows is 64bit. may have to tweak the obse so it will work under 64bit OS one small thing wasn't there a command you could run under the console that would return the version of OBSE if it was running correctly, I know there is for SKSE
  17. One Small Cavet about Wyrebash it's not for NOOBs believe me it's a headache as such (unless you think like it's author )the learning curve is huge, you'd be better off with Nexus Mod Manager, and BOSS and TES5EDit and SKSE first off get and download NMM from the link on this Site (www.skyrim.nexusmods.com) link on top of page after login install it into the default directory(what ever the installer suggests) Next get utilities at the following: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6/? -> BOSS, http://skse.silverlock.org/ -> SKSE (SKyrim Script Extender), http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25859/? -> TES5Edit (not really for beginners but i've added it because it's used to help with cleaning mods, i would highly suggest you check out the links on the page (important usage tutorials etc.) (You'll need to install these as well (SKSE needs a special install method i would suggest watching Gopher's video on SKSE for the correct method) Finally i would suggest checking out Gophers Modding Tutorials on You Tube : http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DdhDG41roBVJfNCqvO5MmKP ( His Videos are excellent place to start expecially if your very confused as to how to Mod your game. one note on UAC windows 7 security feature , if you ever have a program that needs raise user access (ie admin level) you can do this by simply right clicking the desktop icon for the program choosing properties next select the Compatiblity Tab and then check the box next to the words Run This Program as an Administrator. btw when seeking help with a mod it helps if you have either the name the mod or else give a url to the mod it helps us see what your attempthing to use.
  18. Helgen Reborn might be causing this, I had read or heard that the mod author suggest that you do helgen with his mod not installed then after you've done helgen to install or turn it on in the mod manager. other than that the onlly suggestion i can make is to kill all your mods try running the game au natrual and if seems ok (no glitches etc.) slowly start adding mods and testing them until you start having problems again. another thing and you didn't mention weather you use BOSS to help with load order (which is important) this is more often than not the reason that game screws up in the first place. the following utiilities may be benificial to correcting this problem BOSS http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6/? for helping to sort out load order TES5Edit http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25859/? one small cavet with this util it's not really a beginners util and should only be used if BOSS finds a diry mod and your familar with how to do the cleaning required here is also some videos to watch (these are done by Gopher who does excellent tutorials on modding. I hope this helps.
  19. two small things you didn't mention but i've found first OBSE vers 0020 will not work with the steam version of Oblivion ie Steam gets picky and tells you that you can't use OBSE with it found out that if i run the steam version with out it and use the Waterdrop house mod (Crysister version) i get those glaring exclamation points in game. second those with a dual (triple) monitor setup Oblivion doesn't like them that is it will CTD on you if you leave them activated. ( of course i've never delved into the ini files for oblivion to see if there is a way to get oblivion to play nicely with such a setup. other than this good thread.
  20. actually there is a mod that does this (not as you describe) but an pregnacy mod look here -> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12419//?
  21. Actually there is a mod that does this however it's more a resource than a full out mod . look here ->http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12419//?
  22. Actually there is two Mods that will "Fix" this problem 1. Hjerim Mess Fix http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9893 2. Hjerim Bloody Cleanup http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3963 both can be found under the section to do with Bug Fixes. actually i've never had this problem and only actually ran the quest a couple of times and gotten once to the part where you have the problem. it depends entirely how you've modded your copy of skyrim and your machines configuration . remember that the problem is due to script being altered so if you have another mod that changes the Stewards script it will affect how some of the quests play out.
  23. update, I took some time to install and try the mod you were talking about. If what i've learned about the mod is true you won't need a second copy of NMM the program uses 1 copy of Skyrim (Steam) and one Copy of NMM, the reason being that the mod basically holds the (depending on how many skyrims you are working on) files and mods for skyrim 1 so that the second or third or fourth (again depending on which copy ) can be made active. Each copy has it own mod list and it's own save character folders, this provides means which you can have different senarios for skyrim. The Mod Creator suggests you backup your skyrim/NMM and Character Saves first before installing this. further proviso please , PLEASE download and read the documentation and do watch the video as it helps in the installation.
  24. the only problem i see with trying to installing NMM a second time is the registry you'd have to basically install it physically separate from your first install (ie if first install is on c: and your second install of skyrim is on d: then get it to install into d: along with a (i'll assume a duplicate of the sub folders NMM needs to store the mods you'll be installing )). other than that you may have to find another mod manager off the top of my head i can only think of one and it doesn't play nice with SKSE , it's Mod Organizer the creator of this Manager uses totally different way of handling mods as well as allowing for multiple characters multiple mod settings for each characters. I've never been able to figure out how it works. the only other thing i could suggest is disabling the mods that you'd use primarly in the first (mods that are specifically need for your first build) and enabling the ones need for the second this way you only really need one copy but your still under the 256 plugin restrain so you'd only have half for each install. (this is where savvy choice making comes into play.) I hope this helps i've never even knew that a mod existed to allow multiple installs of Skyrim (i've had problems when going multiple myself ). in post script> if you decide to try a second install of NMM to a second drive you won't be able to use the manager option in the downloads on nexus you'll have to download manually then just open your second copy of NMM then add the mods .
  25. The second thing you may want to do is run Skyrim as Administator as of windows xp i think you need to make certain programs run as admin for them to run correctly with OS. this is even more so with the newer OS specifically if your running a x.64 bit version of windows as Skyrim is only 32 bit game. to see your OS spec click on start then right click computer (use to be my computer) and choose Properties to make your game run as admin you need to right click on the game and choose properties then the Compatiblity tab and then click the option to run as Admin.
