  1. Hey, guys, sorry but the link to the basic guide is broken. I know I've read that article before (probably 6 or so months ago), but it isn't there anymore... Anyone has the updated link? Thanks.
  2. This is great! And I agree with you, Steam might have opened the door to modding, but the way they are doing it isn't the best for the community. :)
  3. Hey, keep it up, you are doing a great thing for all of us, and if more ads (not pop-ups) is what you need to make the cluster a reality, then by all means, do it. The real gamers here will understand. :)
  4. Seriously? I'll wait for the sale, don't need a halfassed DLC with ewoks right away, Vainilla and Dawnguard still have plenty of juice in them as they are. :) Beth doesn't care about porting up, instead of down (the way they should, if they were proud of their work), since they already realised there are plenty modders that can fix/make the game feel/see like it should (instead of what they give), leaving the unmodded crap for consoles. :)
  5. first person. Allways (a lot more immersive). It's annoying to play third person, and if you play without crosshair, like me, it's impossible to shoot anything, specially if it's far away.
  6. Actually, there is at least one quest in Markath where you can side with them. They ask you to find proof that some guy has a shrine and that would be enough for them to take him out "legally". As far as myself is concerned, whenever I play, I tend to see the Thalmor (except if I'm playing an Altmer) as religious fanatics that should be elliminated (as any other kind of religious fanatic), the Stormcloaks (except when I play a Nord) as racist fanatics that should be elliminated (as any other racist fanatic), and the Empire as cowardly usurpers (except when I play Empire) that should be elliminated (this ones just for the fun of it, but with a bit of sense of equilibrium...). :)
  7. It's more on the way you want to play. VL is a "mage" type of char, while WW is pure "Fighter". If the char you make goes for either one, choose it. :) With Better Vampires and with Werewolf Mastery, both are really fun to play. :)
  8. hahahaha, I was about to delete the post, since I missread the forum, and already posted it again in the propper forum (Mod Request). Thanks for the explanation, though. :)
  9. The Silver Weapons most Silverhand fellas carry (without mods), are only long swords and great swords, that have the magical ability to seriously damage undead and werewolves, and stop their regeneration. but the weapons themeselves are pretty weak, and pretty much useless against high level undead (like liches or blooded vampires, not to mention VL). So, even if you NEED Arcane Blacksmithing to upgrade (with silver ingots, of course) AND build them (or a special forge, like the Moonforge or the Skyforge, someone could create in a far away part of the map: The Silverforge), how come there are no mods that do that? Here's the idea, if any modders have a clue about how to make something like that. PD: There IS at least 1 mod that has "silver weapons", but they aren't magical, they only state that "do more damage to undead", and use malachite ingots to upgrade, but it isn't the same as the ones the Silverhand uses...

  11. Interesting debate. If I have to say Tamriel, I'd go with Argonian (my favs in all TES) since they can control water sources, and make everyone else their b17ches, but only for all the south side of the continent, since, like it or not, frigid water doesn't go well with lizards. No, in Skyrim, the choice is pretty bad. I'd go with Nords (homeland after all, and resistance to cold), or with Orcs (the most "hardy" fellas out there next to the Nords). :)
  12. Yes, the followers would carry and use potions on themselves, or on the player (via dialog option, as far as I remember, not automatically). But lets be honest. You get a sword shoved up your guts, all the way to your chin, and no ammount of healing magic or potions would rise you. And sincerely, I'm happy they made it that way. The game is already easy enough. Levitation stoped existing on Oblivion, since the cities were open and not closed like in Morrowind. Since you could levitate over a wall and enter the city, but the instance wouldn't load, that was a big problem, so, the only way to stop the players from breaking the game was to eliminate the hability.
  13. Nope. I'm pretty clean. I'm playing the "nice guy" role. In fact, the only Stendarr priest I found so far, was a corpse on a mountain (apparently, he fell). :( And yes, that's the INGAME method to cure lycantropy, but I don't want to do all that just to cure myself, when I really don't want to cure. In fact, in my other gameplays I always turn into a VL and play the side of darkness, and for once, I wanted to be the Hunter. :D Anyway, thanks for answering. I'll recheck my status with them, by looking for a LIVE priest and see if he attacks me too. :)
  14. Just found this mod. Perhaps, it will help you get what you want. :) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8986 Cheers. :)
  15. There's really not much to discuss. We either agree or disagree. Many people can find arguments to agree with what you stated, and many could find other arguments to disagree. Since INGAME that's just a cosmetic matter (with no real value other than that), the discussion becomes void. Someone posted resently a mod to make the char "grow" as they train, but it's still cosmetic. :)
  16. What is it you don't understand? If you FLEE, you don't FIGHT. Not everything in Skyrim is there to be killed (not at the time you encounter it, at least). I've scaped from a couple Liches while searching for Words (bravely running away, while promissing I'll be back to kill them later... after I took the Word, of course). ;) About gold: Clean any dungeon full of bandits, carry everything of (some) value up till the point you can't carry anything else (seriously, even to the point that you need to eat a flower to move normally), and fast travel to the closest town. Sell everything to the blacksmith, and anything you can't sell to him, you sell at the Trade Stock. Fast travel back to the dungeon, and repeat until you sold everything. Dungeons stay "clean" for up to a month, so you can go back as many times as you want. Do that for a couple of dungeons, and you are set for the game (specially, since after certain level you start finding lots of magical items). :D Smithing: You don't need the perks to build the equipment, you can find most of it ingame. You just need Steel Smithing to be able to upgrade any unmagical equipment. But seriously, trying to get Arcane Blacksmith without making your own stuff, would require you to really spend gold in training (wich I find useless). But since no NPC in the game has "upgraded" equipment, you could play with the same stuff as they, and be on equal ground (then you'll see if you really are doing things fine). Armors: In real life you don't go around with both heavy and light armor. When you learn to use heavy armor, you get your body in a shape and stance that allows you to move in that, and when you leart to use light armor, the stance and body build changes. In game, that gets represented (and poorly balanced... I'll comment on this in a minute) by the bonuses you get by going full set. You don't want to use the full set, do what you want, but don't cry about enemies killing you easily, when they DO use full sets. The problem in balance is that Heavy Armor is a broken tree. You need a mod to make it usefull, or you'll end up loosing in the long run. If you want an analogy about this subject, think about swimming and diving. They are very different skill sets, and knowing how to do one doesn't give any help on the other. BTW: Forsworn equipment just sucks. Go for elven (kill a couple Thalmor), or try searching dungeons for glass, when you are high level. :) Dawnguard: DON'T become a werewolf before starting the quest. You won't be able to do so after (I opened a thread about that earlier). Also, you can play DG by becoming a real Vampire Hunter, and reject the offer to become a VL. It's up to you. Have in mind that since DG, werewolves become something worth playing (in Vanilla they were just... bleh), specially with mods like Werewolf Mastery. :) Right now, I'm using a dual wielder light armored argonian werewolf, with Faendal as follower. I also use bow to start the fight (unless I'm in WW mode and just charge at front, with Faendal's arrows flying over my shoulder) up to the point we get discovered, then I just charge with my axe and sword to kill whatever remains. :) Also have a pure mage char who is a VL. Doesn't have the least clue about smithing, blocking or weapons (any). With Better Magic is possible to play with magic in a fun and balanced way. :) Just choose the kind of char you want to be, and go for it, don't worry too much about the skills you won't use (roleplay your char). If you are an assassin, then search for the Dark Brotherhood. If you are a Mage, then go for the Mages Guild. Don't go to the Companions, if you plan on playing a criminal (they are Honor bound warriors, after all). And don't go for the Thieves Guild, if you plan on playing the "Nice Guy". :)
  17. Reading this post let me find this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2700 Try it out, might be what you want, along with ABT (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11941). :) But yes, seeing high level enemies turning around with an arrow on their left eye saying: "I think I heard something" is really immersive breaking. :/
  18. Never played Skyrim bellow Master level. Use Wet&Cold, Frostfall, AFT, Deadly Dragons, Better Magic, ABT, Character Creation Overhaul (to make the game feel more RPG and less console port), and Minty's Lightning (I got killed by lighting a couple of times, using her mod and it was awesome), among many others for werewolves, vampirelords, textures and extra weapons/armor. Just found out Duel - Combat Realism, so I'll download it when at home and see how it works. :) Here is the RULE you must follow to play on Master, even at high levels (at least, if you use the kind of mods I do): If you see something that you can't fight, drink an invisibility potion and SPRINT AWAY. Other than that, go sneaking around everywhere, look everyway all the time (yes, play the paranoic character and you'll live a bit longer). If you get the "detected" message, stop there, and look around until you see "what" detected you and act accordingly (sometimes, it's a bear or a sabrecat, that's far enough to let you know that if you get closer to his territory, you'll die). As always (I shouldn't even have to say this but...) SAVE OFTEN and in different slots (don't depend only on quicksaves), use those little red bottles you have in your inventory (they can really save your life on a tough spot) and decide what kind of character you want to be FROM THE START. Oblivion made a lot of people have the wrong idea about how to play this games. You DON'T have to train EVERYTHING to level 100, that's NOT what RPGs are about. Want to be a mage? Then train magic and never pick up a sword. Want to use heavy armor? Then sell every little piece of NOT heavy armor you find, and also all the pieces of heavy armor you won't use (seriously, making money in this game is too easy, there must be an economic overhaul somewhere, I just didn't find it yet). If you use both light and heavy armor, you are doing things horrendously wrong (check the perks, you need to use a whole SET to get them to work, so if you use mixed parts, you get less AR overall, and anything will kill you, even on Vanilla, as easy as it is). Also, many people doesn't know this but you don't NEED to level up as soon as you get the level. Wait for it, play low level for a while, most humanoid enemies level up with you (monsters and beast don't follow this rule, though...), some enemies are a bit easier to fight, and you can always use the level up to heal yourself. I started a game, found about 20 locations on the map, and started the fight with the first dragon who almost killed me with his flames. Then I leveld up from level 1 to 11 in one go (in order to save myself from his breath...), thanks to all the training I've been doing. The bad part was that suddenly, I was really underequiped for the new leveled enemies, so I got into a couple of tough fights and got back up really fast. :)
  19. Never started the Thieves Guild arc (most of my characters don't even go INTO Riften unless I decided to start the Dark Brotherhood quest), so this Blackbriar fella can't be calling the shots on me. Also, I usually don't piss off the Thalmor (I hate them and all, except for that one Altmer char I made once), unless I'm 100% sure I can take them down (and since I play low level, I usually can't). I never start the Dragonborn quest, until I visited all the cities and villages in the map, so no "shouts on the street" for me, the Companions only appeal to a couple of my characters, so the Silverhand could be doing it, but not at all my chars, and finally, I think both sides of the stupid civil war should be dead (in fact, when I finally become really high level, I'll see the way to finish them all off), and never join either... and the assassins keep appearing. My guess is this: The guy (changes from time to time) that hires the three thugs, after seing they got murdered or simply failed (you can outrun them if you see them comming at you, fast travel is a nice option if they didn't talk to you), decides you are to much of a problem for the good people of Skyrim and decides to send "profesionals", or the "out for a walk" bandit. :)
  20. I hope this isn't considered a spoiler, since it's a problem (at least, for me). I'll do my best to not point to anything that could be considered a spoiler. I started a new game, rushed to do the proper quest to become a furry green beast (I play an Argonian...), let myself reach level 10 to activate Dawnguard (yes, I know I could just go to the fort and the quest starts anyway), went down there, enter the fort and... got smashed to smitherins as soon as I crossed the door. I can understand that those Stendarr fanatics are enemies of anything not... "normal" (was about to say "human", but they don't go attacking Khajeet, Orcs or Argonians, so...), but the fact that this (really high level) priest attacks you just because you enter the room (and no, I wasn't transformed, he has a "detect unnatural" power or just likes metagame....), is a quest breaker. :( No, really, it's a quest breaker, since you can't go on with the quest. Does anyone know a console command to "cure" myself and "turn" myself back AFTER I started the quest? Because I really don't want to go find the propper ingredients to "cure" myself (since I'm not a Nord, I don't care for Sovngarde, I follow Hyrcine all the way). ;) English isn't my native language, so I'm sorry if I made any mistakes (please, point at them so I can learn a bit more). And thanks for the help. :)
