  1. Wow, fae0bfb8, this is great news. Not only will broken mods become usable, collections will save me the tuition that I've saved up to attend the 2 week Bodyslide course; given that Collections will perform all the external stuff for us. Aug 5th will be a glorious day for gaming; thanks to collections, no more CTD, no more worries. Ah yes, we have until Aug 5th to think up ways to celebrate.
  2. Hello, Subject: Collections, Copyrights, and Defective Master Mods Ostensibly, it's all about collections. Given that copyrights have to be impaired in order for collections to functions. It seems that copyrights are the "bill payer" to give everyone magnificent collections. What about highly popular bug ridden, non-functioning master mods? Without naming names, there is one particular master mod that comes to mind with tons of unresolved bug reports; yet there are many developers who make this mod a requirement anyway. No doubt, it will get rolled into collections. So what's gonna happen? Will "esteemed" and popular defective master mods yield diseased collections? Will gamers be allowed to download the current way, or will downloading via collections become mandatory? Will downloading become all or nothing? If collections are so splendid and glorious, why won't Nexus provide a video or collections simulation website, so that everyone can collectively admire and even "cheerfully" acquiesce to a deterioration of copyrights (before Aug 5)? Hey, I'm just a lowly gamer, not yet a mod developer. I respect mod developers' copyrights. I want mod developers to succeed without undue restrictions.
  3. Hello, Why wasn't there a pilot project - as a "test bed" for users, developers, and beta testers to do dry runs on a test web site? Pelosi's most famous quote comes to mind, "We have to pass the bill, to find out what's in it!" Will users be able to download a mod the old/present way? Read description Read Requirements list. Read comments Read bug reports Read file content list and look for .esp files. Download manual or to choice of mod manager all without messing with whatever collections functions are there, or will the use of collections become mandatory? Clueless novice user John Doe shows up, builds a collection list and becomes a collections manager "curator or whatever." Jane Doe logs in, and doesn't want some files in the collection list, or just wants the master. Will Jane Doe have to download and add it all to the game? What if a mod developer is harmed by some clueless novice user who put his mod into an arbitrary collections list? Seems like a pilot project would have been useful to ferret out undesirable outcomes. I dunno. You guys are 1000x smarter than I am on all this, so I defer to your comments. Thanks
  4. Hi Pasquale1223, and thank you for your reply. ScribD might be an example, of a web host as a distributor. ScribD audio books are here today, gone tomorrow, back again later, as authors place their works on ScribD, later remove, later put em back again. I ran into one case where an author ordered his work removed from iphone, but left it available on website. ScribD, as far as I have known, gives the authors the final word. As far as I can tell, ScribD and similar services, serve authors/publishers,. On the other hand, it appears that mod developers will become partially subservient to Nexus. Correct me as needed. It would seem that a new Terms of Service that Nexus will require mod developers to follow, is or will cause mod developers to waive their right to remove their works from this website. I fail to understand any benefit to anyone. Maybe there's some perceived benefit to Nexus, I dunno.
  5. Greetings, Re: Collections. Dear Website moderator, can you provide a sample of how collections will be presented to users, how they will appear on a web page? Maybe a "collections simulator," or just a video of how a web page with collections will function, would be nice to see. Thank you.
  6. Greetings, I'm just a gamer, not yet a mod author/developer. I'm concerned that some desirable mods will be have to be removed (before the deadline) and that mod ownership or control will belong to the Nexus Corporation. As a programmer (not a modder), I've had copyrighted works become public domain, and so I respect mod developers who work hard and desire to retain their copyright be it commercial or copyrighted freeware. What's going to become of expressed or implied copyrights after the change happens? If the Nexus Corporation is going to pay mod developers, as W4 or 1099 employees, then, of course the copyrights absolutely belong to the employer. Okay, if mod developer John Doe publishes a mod and annotates "Copyrighted by John Doe" then another developer shouldn't violate that copyright. However, if and that John Doe cannot remove it from a web host, does that mod become Public Domain from then on? Will mod developers be required to cede any claims to copyright over to the Nexus Corporation? If John Doe paints a painting and (with permission) hangs it on a wall in a museum. Time passes and he takes it down and walks out the door. If the museum curator padlocks it behind glass, and refuses to let the painter have it back, isn't this unethical or worse? Or, painter would be told, before he walks in the door, that his painting is no longer his, even if the museum curator gives him no consideration in return. Then, it's ethical, because the painter will know beforehand that he's giving up all rights to his painting. Thank you.
  7. Greetings, Over time I downloaded mods where the requirements include Bodyslide Outfit Studio. Okay, all good, I have it. It's in the CalienteTools directory. It's there, requirement met. Next I made sure other requirements are installed, yep, all good. Downloaded mods that require BodySlide. Some worked, some didn't Oh well. At least I had downloaded and installed all the requirements. Time passed, and I ran across a mod that requires that I need to "use" bodyslide outfit studio! Huh? What? But, I met all the developer's requirements, it's downloaded and in a directory. Isn't bodyslide strictly for mod developers? Uh oh. As a lowly gamer, am I'm supposed to be USING bodyslide? Yikes!!! But the mod websites don't reveal "how" to use Bodyslide! Off I go to Youtube and find a popular tutorial. At last I'll learn "The Ways of Bodyslide." I didn't have the exact body preset file that's in the youtube video, so I decided to just pick another at random and learn off of it. And so there was Nevernude. So I'll just learn off it, what could possibly go wrong? After completing about 2/3 of the tutorial, I decided to take a break and play some SkyrimSE. Shock! My character appeared with the vanilla underwear and bra and no longer my preset!!! How can this be? I'm just learning to use Bodyslide! The game's not even running. My "reckless learning" infused into the game, and caused big time damage! No worries, I'll just go to racemenu, find my preset, and fix it back. The CBBE Morphs menu was disabled, and my character looks horrible. No matter what I tried, it stayed disabled. Websites give lengthy instructions how to re-enable CBBE Morphs, nothing worked. My only recourse was to restore from backup. So I selectively restored the Skyrim Special Edition directory and the directory that Vortex uses. EaseUS backs up fast enough but selective restore of 200 gigs uncompressed backup filz took almost all night. After that, everything was normal again. EaseUS got the job done, but took hours. I should have come to this discussion forum before even thinking about learning Bodyslide Outfit Studio. Thanks for indulging all this. Obviously, by now, I can certainly use your advice, as to how, as a novice, I can safely learn "The Ways of" Bodyslide Outfit Studio.
  8. Hi TWDTheFurry, In case you've not tried this. After having a ton of occurrences of CTD upon saving, over a lot of gaming hours, and after doing a lot of "try this, try that" attempts, I stumbled across ReSaver.exe by Fairchild. Resaver found over 1800 unattached instances and over 500 undefined elements on my current save file. Both values are supposed to be zero. Upon using Resaver, after about 20-30 gaming hours, I've only experienced 1 CTD upon saving; and that save had a bunch of unattached instances and undefined elements in it. I make it a habit to run resaver either before or after a SSE gaming session, not trusting the save file to be clean. If you've already been doing this, then others on this forum (who are 1000x smarter than I am, at troubleshooting) should hopefully intervene on your behalf. Happy gaming, and best wishes toward getting through the CTDs.
  9. Hello, Update. I seem to have found it; it came from the Cheat Debug spell, I had tried it a while back, didn't use any of its functions, then forgot about it. Sometimes it's menu just pops up upon starting the game, without me using the spell. I think it was from player's club, not Nexus. It appears that the Complete Quest option should be avoided, or maybe its to be experimented with upon doing a drive backup first. Happy Gaming.
  10. Greetings, The dialog box appears shortly after launching the game, and about a minute after character appears. And so, I've not screwed around with it. After Exit, Skyrim SE performs normally. Search engine searches, for search arguments "Skyrim Debug Tool" and "Simple Complete Quest Tool" were unproductive, unless there is a well hidden explanation out there. Any enlightenment as to the cause and remedy of the Simple Complete Quest Tool warning will be most graciously appreciate. Thanks, and Happy Gaming!
  11. Hello, and Thanks Joe. Re: The use of ReSaver. So far, so good. Signs and Symptoms: Random CTD upon saving. Usually, Launch game (via SKSE), Normal Save (never quick, never auto) - Success Fast travel somewhere, Save --- Success Do something or go inside somewhere, then Save --- CTD! I get a few successful saves then CTD upon another save attempt. Resaver, Clean, Unattached instances --- Yikes! it found over 1800 Clean undefined elements --- Yikes, again, it found over 550 I did Save to another file name, upon opening SSE, it didnt find it. Oh well, I just did a re-save over the same latest save file, and Resaver made a backup for me SSE, loaded the newly saved save file, being mindful of the save number, then I replicated the conditions most likely to cause CTD. Subsequent saves held. Next I spent about an hour saving often, doing things and saving at times that were likely to cause CTD, and saves held, no CTD. Later I quit SSE and launched Resaver, and on my most recent save files, Clean Show unattached instances - None Clean Show undefined elements - None Recommendation: Give Mark Fairchild an award, for developing Resaver. Testing the save file, after fixing it with Resaver is like watching Stargate, "Chevron 7 Holding, Chevron 7 Locked" etc. "Save 294 Holding, Save 294 Locked" Yay!!! Many thanks for this message thread. Happy Gaming!
  12. Hi, and Happy New Year. I'm not a mod developer (not yet, anyway) Is there a way to apply and use racemenu on an existing follower or spouse, or even a NPC? I did a search before posting this, and results seem to be oriented toward development. Many thanks Adonsa
  13. Hi, Thanks to this website, I believe I found a fix for the CTD occuring after upgrading SKSE64, the fix being that of upgrading dependency mods. But 2 lingering questions remain 1. Upon identifying SKSE64 dependency mods, when do I update them (within Vortex), before performing the SKSE64 update, or afterwards? 2. Hats off to the developer of the Locate SKSE Mods bat file. Running it against the Vortex folder, the .csv file revealed several SKSE dependencies. But I'm not totally sure it found them all. Is there a master list anywhere of SKSE64 dependent mods, or are those listed on the "Mods requiring this file" on the web page all I need to refer to? I just want to make sure. Many thanks, for all your hard work.
  14. Hi, I'll have to use the top post format and post a formal trouble report. I ended up doing an EaseUS directory restore from backup to get back to normal. with SKSE ver 2.0.17, and what I described below becomes experimental. In short, 2 SKSE64 upgrade attempts failed. Situation seems to be: 1st. Using the outdated youtube video on Silverlock, I copied the files over into the SSE data folder, exactly as the video described. With Steam running, SKSE Launcher went black then CTD. 2nd. Carefully using the Nexus Mods Tool Setup: Script Extenders website and the Vortex Beginner's Guide #7 Script Extenders video, I carefully followed those instructions. SKSE Launcher, went black, the CTD. The "how to fix skse64 script extender for Skyrim Special Edition" * video provides a lengthy process oriented toward downgrading SkyrimSE in order for SKSE64 to work. There's a text file out there that requires the same thing. I didn't do this. According to this video, its a compatibility issue. The implication is: SKSE64 ver 2.0.19 requires an older Skyrim version (according to youtube) SKSE64 ver 2.0.17 is compatible with the newest Skyrim Version. How do I make sense of this? I didn't downgrade SkyrimSE, that goes against all instincts. Are my choices, New SKSE64 with old SkyrimSE? Old SKSE64 with newest SkyrimSE? SkyrimSE Product ver 1.5.97 (steam wont upgrade it any higher) You guys are 1000x smarter on all this than I am, and so I will be most highly grateful for your advice. Thanks much! * The youtube video that suggests downgrading Skyrim is at youtube search argument v=jHCxXkBi17Y
  15. Hi, This is my effort to stay out of trouble, rather than make mistakes, and have to troubleshoot my way out of it. Loot informed me that my SKSE 64 version 0.2.0.17 is not the latest version. Loot is correct, and SKSE 2.0.19 (SE Build) is needed. Yay, Loot. Windows Properties says my Skyrim SE is ver 1.5.97 and file version 1.0.0.0 Steam, under "recent updates" shows my last update to be 1.5.16 Update Nov 7, 2017. I have no idea if this is the most recent version. In Steam, SkyrimSE, Properties, Updates tab, I selected "Always" and let it sit for a while, and nothing happened. Next, I know I have to be extremely careful to properly upgrade SKSE 64. Concerned that I may screw things up and break Skyrim SE, here I am looking for your advice. I did back it up, drink lots of coffee, and watched the Silverlock video. Off I go to the Silverlock website, yay, found version 19, downloaded it. Next I'll extract to get the folder. From the video, it appears that copy and replace will suffice for the files themselves, and the 2 folders will be treated separately. Data Folder questions before attempting upgrade: In the video, the newly downloaded data folder, instead of just copying the data folder over; he presented another option to use winrar, copy data folder add to archive, rename to SKSE scripts.rar leaving everything else same. it gets dragged to desktop for ease of finding it,. Then he does NMM add mod from file and it looks to me that's like just adding a mod from file within NMM, I would have to assume that Vortex will suffice for this, but I defer to your judgement. Do I need to go through the version 17 data folder, and compare each file with contents of version 19's data folder? Given that I'm probably prematurely using mods dependent on the newest SKSE, would I need to move any old unique files (not replacing) to version 19's data folder prior to doing the winrar thing? Many thanks for indulging all this. I just want to be extremely cautious. Above all, I will highly appreciate your comments and advice, as I prepare to do the upgrade.
