  1. Lol I was playing this afternoon and had the bright idea that there are already hundreds of forts that could be done over to suit your needs. I can see I was beaten to the punch though. Better luck next time Collers.
  2. Ok so we have all been there. The dragon comes down, and you aren't quite in position behind your chosen rock, and he catches you full in the face at mid range with his fiery breath. Oh no! So, what do we do in this devastating situation? Surely the dragon slayers' career is over in a hot pile of ash? No no, I'll quickly pop up my menu, and swig a few health potions while the wee beastie stops mid gout to admire my potion drinking prowess. Then I shall wander through yet more flames to unleash my dual wielding fury into his maw. All well and good, but its just plain ridiculous to be honest. Can someone please write a mod that nerfs potions? On my mage character I felt restoration to be a waste when I can just make healing potions by the dozen instead. I know that I could just choose not to use them, but that just isn't the same. A cast time, cooldown or something would make them so much more... more. Even better they must be equipped like a weapon and then drank. That combined with say a 60 second cooldown would be much better. The cooldowns could be tiered too, so that alchemists aren't too limited. Stamina, Health, Magika, and Utility. I don't know how easy / hard this mod would be to make, but I would be very grateful if someone did. Collers
  3. I like the sound of this set. The only one I'd really take issue with is #3. Off the top of my head I think it would take me... 40 minutes to cross Skyrim east to west on a horse, and an hour and a bit on foot. Maybe on my first play through I would have enjoyed footing it everywhere, but now that I have played most of the vanilla quests I can't say I would appreciate all that added walking. Plus think of the amount of footwork some of the most pointless quests make you do. This mod would just make me cry. All of the other suggestions seem great. #1 particularly. I thoroughly agree with this.
  4. @Mercami You say you enjoy the freedom of being able to join any guild, and I understand that, but you really don't get any real choices in the game, except for Imperial or Stormcloak. This post explains the point I'm trying to make much better than I can; http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/541558-a-mod-that-allows-me-to-play-a-good-character/page__p__4406019__fromsearch__1#entry4406019 Aye and I'm sure you're right. Jarldom is inevitable in mods if not DLC's.
  5. I finished the MQ without ever joining the Thieves' Guild. What part of the MQ are you referring to? When you get sent to talk to the guy in Riften, if you discuss anything except the main quest with him, then it leads you off to rob the other market stall as a "test" to join the theives guild. I must agree with you all here, that this game really does limit choices. You really do get very few. Worse even than that is the fact that if you want to play an honourable character, then you cut your content almost in half. For a game which is supposed to be immersive role play, this is really quite a huge flaw. I imagine there will be some more 'good guy' material added in all the mods to come, and it seems to me that after creating the scenery of the world, Beth likes to leave players to create their own game. Interesting concept... The one faction that I haven't played is the mages guild, as I felt like a complete cheat that no1 questioned my 100 magika and big sword. Do you turn out to be a good guy / bad guy / have a choice in this? And would anyone have even noticed if I had played on and (i guess you become arch-mage in the end) sat on the throne with a sword...? Collers
  6. As this is starting to shape up into a bit of a project (although a popular one), I think I'd suggest that you make your original idea first, then add the additional components later. Just see if you can get the buying and managing estate working, then see if you can get some interaction with the Jarls, then see if you can create some epic things to spend your money on. Keep up the good work!
  7. This is a truly excellent idea. I would definitely put the time in for this. Maybe the documents that the Jarls give you instead have to be bought, and they agree to build a section of the new fort. After you have all of the documents then enter furnisher as per usual properties. "A melon in the lounge? (5000 Gold)" ^^. And it would be great to see the different stages of construction as I get more and more ridiculously rich and powerful. This would be an incredible mod, but an awful lot of work. I'm sure if you asked for some help once the CK comes out there would be lots of willing volunteers. Edit: As a footnote, I am no modder but if there was any help needed in voicing or writing then let me know.
  8. To be honest both factions are dicks. You have the stormcloaks who are racist filthy barbarians, and the imperials who are fascist arrogant posh-boys. Not much choice to be honest. As neither faction seems able to win without the dragonborn on their side I think it would be nice to muck in and take the whole of Skyrim for yourself. Betray them both, let them fight out their huge armies to the death then step in and sweep aside the last few resistors and become high king. Job done.
  9. Yes! I get tired of seeing the people I have slaughtered decorating the various cities. Great idea, would love to see this!
  10. Ok so the Elder Scrolls series has always been plagued by this issue for me. I can become head of the theives guild and the dark brotherhood, while still being an honourable thane and heading up the companions, and sitting pretty at the top of the mages guild wielding a sword. And to top all this I am the dragonborn! I feel that this really limits replay value, as I never have to make and REAL choices about my loyalties other than Stormcloaks / Empire. In terms of immersion this is quite a flaw. I have very little experience of modding games, and none in modding and Bethesda games, so do excuse me if I make an amateur assumptions. I would like to see some form of limiting system in the game. This system would detect that I am stealth / combatty / magey and limit my choices accordingly. For example if I chose to lump all my perks into combat skills, then I would be made welcome in the companions, but would be laughed at if I approached the mages guild. You get 80 perks to place, so say the companions would only allow me to enrol if I had 20 perks in combat skills, while the mages would only accept me if I have 20 perks in magical skills, theives 20 in stealth, and dark brotherhood 10 in combat, 10 in stealth or something to that effect. This would make it possible to join all of the guilds and factions but only if you really belong there. Also the idea of being a thane in every city is quite ridiculous. When I play I choose a city that appeals to me to be my home. I become the thane, buy the house, and choose a spouse from within that city. Of course limiting the awarding of thanes would probably present quite a problem as the main quest line makes you thane of Whiterun, but I am sure you can see what I'm trying to get at. Perhaps you could still become thane of every city, but can progress to become Jarl of just one. I'm not sure how hard it is to write in new quests for the game, but I know I would kill every soul in Sovngarde to become Jarl of Solitude and own the blue palace. Let me know your thoughts. =D
  11. Hmm I think this is a really good idea. Problem is, you are just creating the illusion of needing more money. If you have the money needed to sink into the estate in this mod, then surely you don't actually need any more money, so why buy the estate? Great idea, but I think you might want to consider adding some nice tasty gold sinks into the game other than buying estate for estates sake.
