Guys, Gals ... anyone who can help, I've played Skyrim Special Edition for years, now (indeed, ever since it first came out). I've always been able to successfully install SKSE and SkyUI (the latter via Vortex). However, I've been struggling for over two weeks to install SKSE. I follow the instructions that come with the file (I use the Anniversary Edition, and so I'm trying to install SKSE version 642.1.5 rel 6). But nothing works. To say that I'm extremely frustrated would be the understatement of the year. Is there something special that I'm missing? I humbly beg for your help on this. There has to be someone on the Nexus who tell me what I'm doing wrong, or give me a hint that something has changed that I haven't heard about. I'm almost 73 years old and this frustration is something that certainly isn't good for a man of my age! Thanks very much, Bovi (also called Trag, the Mercenary)

Friends and Foes alike, I hope that I can ask a question about Skyrim Special Edition, here ... I've started loading mods for SSE, just today. I have traditionally used the mod "ACE Alternate Start" mod, but I can't seem to locate it on the Nexus. Was this mod dropped? Any help would be appreciated. Tragthemercenary

Hello, everyone. Does anyone remember the name of the mod where you could instruct an NPC to change their outfit, and modify their hair, using Apachii Hair? I wracked my brain trying to remember it. Also, you used to be able to use the Racemenu to modify your Player. Is this ability no longer available? Thanks, Trag

I generally love the VORTEX mod manager, but I'm having a problem which could be related to its use. I simply don't know ... I've been trying to use the Yggdrasil Music Mod for some time, including the replacer version. However, no matter what I do, all that plays is the vanilla music (which is rather tiresome since I've been playing Skyrim since it came out, and now play Skyrim SE). I've also tried some other music mods, and still, the vanilla music is all that I hear. If anyone can help with this, I would be extremely happy. If you need my mod list, I will post it ... it's very large at some 252 mods. I honestly don't believe that the problem is related to mods, however. Gentlemen, and/or ladies: I know that there are many topics on the internet concerning adding music mods to Skyrim SE. I don't think I've found one that addresses my problems. Simply stated, I want to add the Yggdrasil mod to my game. I use the replacer version. However,all I get is the vanilla music, which after about a 1000 hours is getting a little old, to say the least. I use a 64-bit Windows 10 Acer Aspire gaming computer. I mention this because some "solutions" on the internet name Windows 10 as a problem. I use the Vortex Mod Manager. Whatever i do, nothing seems to work. Is there something that I'm missing? I thought that I was something of an expert on adding mods to Skyrim and Skyrim SE. Thanks for any help that you can give me, on this. Thanks!

Thanks, very much. Your method worked perfectly, and LOOT is verifying it. What happened with me is that when I deleted a mod, the program (Vortex) failed to remove all of its plugins. This wasn't on all of the mods ... just a few of them. To take care of any garbage, I went into the DATA section of my game directory and looked for the ones that didn't delete entirely. There was only one, and though it didn't show in the plugin section of VORTEX, there was partial data left over. I hit delete, the plugin re-appeared in Vortex, I redeployed without saving or reverting, and it was completely gone. It now reads correctly as 196 plugins. Once again, thanks. Your mention of "garbage" really helped.

Perhaps I should have put this question on Vortex forums, but I though I would start here. There are a number of plugins that I don't use, anymore, but I can't remove them (for some reason). I'm up to about 225 plugins, and there's about 20 that I could get rid of. They aren't being used. Note that sometimes I get rid of a mod, and so the master files are gone. But the plugins still show up in that section of Vortex. They're not active (because they mostly don't have their master files). But they still show up, and occupy a position on the plugin list. For example, I still have the plugin for DBM_RelicHunter, and it's plugin number is 213. But I can't get it out of the list of plugins (and make Plugin #213) available for something else. Any help would be appreciated.

I bought SYRIM se soon after it became available. I've had many problems with it (basically with the old computer that I had). But I thought I knew everything there was with the "Black Face Bug". I guess I was wrong. Howdy! (I'm not a cowboy, though) I installed the latest SKSE64, and upon loading, I get this message: Game version expected 1.5.80.0 Game version found 1.5.97 Note that the game loads, but only about a third of the SkyUI mods get loaded. The download was version SKSE64 2_00_17. Was this not the correct download? How can I avoid the game being updated, by the way? While I'm waiting for Silverlock.org to update SKSE64 for Skyrim SE, I thought I would go back into what, for me, was the original Bethesda game. Creating a character, I found that he had multiple eyeballs in each eye socket. I still started playing, thinking that it would only be on my player character, but all of the characters seem to have this problem, except orcs. Silverlock.org creates the SKSE64 files. It usually take them about two weeks to get a new file out, after an update on Skyrim SE. When they do, download and install it, and your SkyUI mods will work properly, once again. Those mods require an updated SKSE64. Whenever this happens, I usually just do something else for a couple of weeks.

Out of curiosity, is there any way to rollback Skyrim SE to its previous version, until Silverlock.org releases the new SKSE64? Mine was absolutely perfect ... yesterday. Then came the update ...

As a former sniper in Vietnam, 1968-69, the above picture bothers me, too. I don't play the game that you're using ... real-life was enough sniping for me (although I'm at the rifle range at least once per week, to keep up my skills). I hope someone mods your game so that it's more realistic. The sniper in the picture also needs to take off the tactical glasses in order to get a clear sight picture. Timezy, I used to have most of the problems you listed. Two things solved all ... ALL ... of my difficulties. 1) VORTEX - The current version of this program, when combined with LOOT and SSEDIT, is probably the best download and organization program I've ever seen. I've used Mod Manager and the old NMM program, and Vortex is easily the best and ... once you get past the mechanics of it ... the easiest to use. 2) A Modern Gaming Computer. Although this seems ridiculously simple, I couldn't get past certain locations (for example, the front entrance to Bleak Falls Barrow), without a crash. My previous computer just didn't have the power to handle all that was going on. I bought a brand-new gaming system from ACER, and all of these problems disappeared. I know that other people will come by and give you more detailed help than this, and you should listen to them. Also have you modlist ready to post, because a great many mods conflict with each other, or cause bugs like the black face bug, which is highly irritating, to say the least. If you don't have it, yet, download LOOT so that you can copy the modlist. Also, keep your mods down to a bare minimum, for now, till you get other problems straightened out. I am getting an infinite loading screen on attempting to load my Skyrim Special Edition. I should only have around 60 mods, right now, and I don't see these "254" mods located anywhere on the mod list, in Vortex. But then, I'm not an expert, by any stretch of the imagination. I thought that my load order was incredibly small to be having these problems. After all these years with Skyrim, and then with Special Edition, and I forget to add XP32. Also, I will try that Flashing Savegames Fix, but I usually have five savegames, and one quicksave.

I've seen the sort function, but didn't ever think that it did LOOT's work. I appreciate that information. Does Vortex indicate dirty edits? If if doesn't, how often should I check it, using SSEdit? These attempts were all on a new game.

Greetings! When Vortex came out, I was hesitant to use it. But I downloaded it, eventually, and it worked like a charm. With over 500 hours of gameplay without a single hitch, including CTD's, on a high-end machine, and a constant frame rate of 60fps, this was Skyrim SE the way I imagined it would be. Then, I had a crash. After that, I couldn't even get the game to load. I uninstalled my 245 mods, unistalled and re-installed the game, and it was working fine, until I started loading mods. Then, I started getting CTD's, on a regular basis ... every 15-20 seconds. I've done the usual, including unistalling mods and re-installing them, to see which might be causing a problem. Nothing works.
