  1. Well,I told you that I know next to nothing about consoles! Sorry I couldn't be more help. The only thing that I can say is to go through each and every mod that you have and check for possible conflicts. Also, where was your FPS counter at the time you try to enter Dragonsreach? Anything under 30fps could cause a CTD because of the amount of info that is downloading. For example, with my last computer (which was decidedly low-end), on the path to Bleak Falls Barrow, I would have a crash every time. I learned to access the Bandit Tower by taking a path below the Tower. No problems. Then, I would go up the path the Bleak Falls Barrow, kill the bandits. Then, it would crash every time I tried to go through the front Entrance to the Barrow. It would also crash every time I tried the Kynesgrove quest, just at the moment the dragon broke through the top of the mound. By the way, I am using an Acer Aspire computer which I purchased at a Wal-Mart, for slightly over $900. The only thing I've done to it is to upgrade system RAM from 16gb to 64gb.
  2. The first thing I want to say is - Do you use a mod manager, and if so, what one do you use? I use the Vortex MM, which is coming along nicely in its development. Last night, I added a mod to my game, and it had 121 conflicts, even though it wasn't supposed to conflict with anything. I was able to resolve all of those conflicts within about 5 minutes. Some of the mods that you have I've never heard of, and I've never had a problem with entering Dragonsreach. Note that I used to have problems with entering Whiterun. Also, I couldn't enter or play through certain vital quests, like Bleak Falls Barrow, and others. I know for nothing about consoles, but my problem ... back then ... were the mod conflicts and the computer I was running. I bought a new gaming computer, and then installed Vortex. I haven't had a CTD in months, and I play the game often, using 4k textures, and am getting 60 fps consistently. I've heard that many players have the problems you described on consoles. Like I said, I don't know that much about them, but I think that they are essentially just a computer. If you can change out your chipset, and add system RAM, I would do it. Note that my computer has the latest intel chipset, and I'm running 64gigs of system RAM. If you can't change your chipset and RAM, I would consider buying a new gaming computer. I know they're expensive, but mine revolutionized my gameplay. I wish I could be more help, on this.
  3. I highlight, copy my .exes and paste the copies to another folder, then I wait til SKSE and related mods are updated, before I go online with steam and get the update. The backup is just in case I slip and get updated before I planned to. I can't imagine why I'd want to add yet another mod, only to do my copy/pasting for me. That's my solution. I allowed my other games to update, yesterday, but I play Skyrim SE offline, and I don't allow updates for the game, until SKSE fixes are ready.
  4. It is my experience ... with a high-end gaming rig ... that CTDs are often caused by mods, load orders, conflicts, and so on. But mostly, they are caused by the computer running out of VRAM. Just the other day, I was almost ready to give up on the game, for a while, despite my desire to play it. Then, I found something: It's called Optimize Skyrimcustom.ini, it's brand-new, and available on the Nexus. There is an automatic installer, and you really won't know that it works until you load up the game. I've played 10.5 hours, over the last three days, with high-texture and resolutions, and lots ... I MEAN LOTS ... of mods. No lag, no flickering mountains or buildings, and most important, NO CTDS. I cannot emphasize the value of this mod to my gameplay, because I'm actually playing the game with no problems. If you download it, and you still experience CTDs, look into load order with LOOT, and possible conflicts between mods ... the stuff we've all been doing for years with Skyrim SE and Oldrim. I also use the Vortex Mod Manager, because it makes resolving file conflicts much easier, and you have a fairly heavy mod load. And once again, I cannot emphasize how much that mod which is currently trending #2 might help to resolve your crash problems. Good luck!
  5. That's exactly what I did. I completely deleted Skyrim SE (going into my SATA drive to make sure everything was gone), and re-downloaded from Steam. Then, I downloaded Vortex, and started the process of downloading my favorite mods, along with some new ones that I've never used. It worked perfectly, until I got close to Kynesgrove. Even when I was using the NMM, I always had trouble with some of the locations you HAVE TO GO TO, in order to continue with the main quest line. On my old computer, I could not enter Bleak Falls Barrow, without a CTD within 5 seconds of entering. Also, I had to find the alternate route to the Barrow, because there was a CTD on the path leading to the Bandit Tower. My new computer has a i7-7700 microprocessor, with 64 gb of system RAM. Although it's not impossible for these problem to be caused by the computer, it's unlikely. Please note that I play Witcher 3 with absolutely no problems at all, on Vortex. It also work perfectly on Oldrim, and I'm running 255 plugins. I'm only having CTD problems with Skyrim SE.
  6. I've been using the Vortex for a couple of months. I made an attempt with the Mod Organizer, but ... quite frankly ... it was too technical for me. Everything worked perfectly, until today, and I wondered if anyone else has had this problem. My player character met with Delphine at the Sleeping Giant Inn, and the next morning, I set out for Kynesgrove. This has always been one of my favorite quests. I turned the corner from Winhelm towards the road that leads to Kynsegrove and, CTD. I tried everything I knew, and nothing worked. Frustrated as you know what, I finally completed the quest right where I was, using the console. I got on my horse, and turned back towrds Windhlem (thinking to spend the night, there), and ... CTD. I tried a couple of workarounds, and there was always a CTD. So, I did a "moveto" to Ivarstead. Since then, I've had no problems. I'm not a modder, so I don't know how big Kynesgrove's cell is. It's almost as if there's a hole in the world, where Kynesgrove is located. Has anyone else had this problem? Note that I have a high-end computer, and I run the program on high priority, so computer resources are not a problem. I didn't put this post in the technical problems forum, but thought the problem is at least interesting, besides being frustrating. As I continue this playthrough, I hope that it doesn't pop up in other locations.
  7. AN UPDATE: I removed the mods labelled "254 FE", and was able to get out of the prison. My problem is solved, unless anyone wishes to talk about it.
  8. Gentle Warriors and Amazons, Well, I don't get back to this forum, very often. But I'm using the VORTEX mod manager, and I don't think it's a problem there ... I use the mod An Alternate Start: Live Another Life, and have done this, for some time, now. I've always use the option ... granted by Mara, of course! ... of escaping my cell, because there's quite a bit of loot, armor, and weapons in the Abandoned Fortress. There's two exits from the Fortress: An upper door, and a ladder that can be reached from one of the cells, which allows the player to exit the Fortress, at that point. The problem is that the game always crashes, when trying to exit. I've tried lowering the FPS by cutting high-resolution, and note that I have a high-end rig, and currently have a frame-rate of 60 FPS. 9. I uninstalled a mod that I didn't like ... the SexLab Framework ... and had frozen animals. I used De-Install creatures on FNIS, and it seemed to fix this issue. This was my first experiment with using "adult" mods. I think that I can do without them ...
  10. Watching the videos, especially with complicated mods like FNIS, and others, is vital to understanding how the mods should be installed, their load order, and how they are uninstalled, when needed. I've just started using VORTEX, in the last couple of weeks, and it is well-equipped with instructional videos. One of the best ... and massive ... mods out there is The People of Skyrim, or TPOS. Almost everything is changed, and locations where my game would perviously CTD, are completely smooth. I've got a top-of-the-line computer (of course, that helps), but it doesn't matter where I am ... since I started playing TPOS on Skrim SE, I have not had a single crash. I had a similar experience when using TPOS on the 32-bit version, Oldrim. In addition, I'm running almost a hundred mods, including a customized version of SMIM, which is computer-intensive, and the framerate never goes under 60fps. I COULD go 4k, if I wanted to (and I do, in some areas), but mostly, I stay at 2k. Note that I'm not saying the above to brag, or anything like that. It has taken me several years to get this game to work ... period. In the interim, I learned about how the mods interact with each other, and got my current computer. Note that I've upgraded the new computer from a system RAM of 8gb to 64gb. The NVidea card I use is a 3gb 1060 card (I do have a 4gb older card, taken out of my earlier computer, as a backup). I use LOOT for load order, and have only had to use WryeBash once, since I started playing SSE with TPOS. The only problem I've had is when Lydia was assigned to me as a personal Housecarl. We walked out of Dragonsreach, and she had taken it all off. Not that this is a problem, but I prefer my followers to be clothed! I AM a married man, after all!. Anyway, good luck, and I hope you get all your problems sorted out, soon. The graphics alone on the 64-bit version of this game are worth it.
  11. Is there a problem with Vortex 16.x as far as downloading speed? Could it be with the Nexus? I'm a premium member, and right now, I'm downloading SMIM between 122 - 192 kb/s, for Skyrim SE. I like the new version, by the way. I've checked all of my hardware and WIFI/internet settings, and there's no problem, on that end. Right now, it's showing 1 hour 26 minutes until the download is finished. I haven't had downloads that slow since the 1980's! Thanks EDIT: I decided to pause it, for the night. Out of curiosity, I resumed it, and suddenly ... well, it's done!
  12. I've been using VORTEX for several days, now, and thought I would give a quick first impression. At first, compared to NMM, it seemed quite complex. But the videos that come with the program have helped quite a bit. Also, for the first time since I downloaded Skyrim SE, I've been able to use SKSE64 and FNIS. Note that I was NEVER able to get either program to work with NMM. Also, I like the "Sort" function under plug-ins. Also, I appreciate the mod installation process, along with warnings and solutions about mod conflicts, especially conflicts having to do with load order with masters and sub-mods. Overall, when this program gets to its final phases of development, I actually don't think the NEXUS will have any competitors.
  13. I appreciate your answer. I realized, a little while ago, that I had used the wrong terminology, and it is "Deploy", rather than "Display". Thanks.
  14. I downloaded Vortex, yesterday, and it has already helped me to solve several problems. Today, I downloaded CBBE and the Normal Map mods. At the MOD folder, it showed a conflict between them. Following the instructions, I was able to resolve the conflict between the two plugins. The final step is to "DISPLAY" the plugins. Unfortunately, that button on the toolbar is grayed out, and non-functional. No other conflicts or problems seem evident to me. How do I get these plugins from the Mods section to the Plugins section, so that they will function in the game? Thanks. I think that once Vortex gets to BETA phase, it will be the best mod organizer on the internet.
  15. I finally gave in and downloaded Vortex. It helped me to find the file that was causing the blackface bug ... DivinePeopleofSkyrim.esp . On my list, it was plugin #21.
  16. I use CBBE for Skyrim SE, and that helps ... immensely. But there is still a problem. The women are still ugly as sin. I've tried to female face mods to take care of this terrible problem ... my Dragonborn will NEVER marry an ugly woman ... but each time, the result is the gray-black face bug. Using CBBE, what Face Mod will give me what I need? 18. I've never been able to use SKSE-64 with Skyrim SE. Following your simple instructions, this was the result: You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64 supports. If this version just came out, please be patient while we update our code. In the meantime, please check http://skse.silverlock.org for updates. Runtime: 1.5.39 SKSE64: 2.0.6 Note that I'm a user of these games, and not a modder or a computer expert. I'm not really sure what "Runtime" refers to. Any suggestions? That's because you are trying to install the wrong version. Go to silverlock.org and download SKSE64 2.0.7 Thanks. Will do.

  20. One last thing ... No Friendly Fire has been re-leased in an upgraded mod called No Friendly Fire Reborn. There are two versions ... the one I use doesn't use the shielded visuals. This mod was definitely the one causing my problem. This thread can be marked as Solved.
  21. Thanks very much. It turned out to be something I liked a lot - No Friendly Fire. I appreciate your tip.
  22. I've been on my current play through for about 50 hours, and the game is very stable. One CTD, in all of that time. I'm running 125 installed mods, which is about half of the maximum, as I understand it. My problem is that my player character, horse, friendly NPCs, and enemies all appear shielded, i.e., they have the transparent effect around their bodies, whenever I draw my weapon. In the case of enemies, at times, my weapons have absolutely no effect - the enemies take no damage. I don't like cheating, in any fashion, but to get rid of some enemies, I have to type the tilde, open the console, and type "kill", in order to get of them. Talk about ruining immersion! 23. I know that this is an old thread, but I solved the problem, using two methods: 1st- I bought a new computer! 2cd- I set the executable on "High" priority. The new computer didn't completely solve it, but setting the executable to "High" did the job. It also solved some CTD problems in outside areas, like on the road from Riverwood to the Standing Stones, just out from Riverwood. Previously, I always crashed at the same spot. And if I DID make it past there, the two wolves just up the road always crashed it.
  24. @Azurabane, @ Darkonch, @Naterno, @UndeadHooker You might look into the question of computer resources devoted to the Skyrim SE executable, also. I went straight from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and so I don't know if you can do this for the Windows version in between (I couldn't in Win7). This is how you do it, in Windows 10: 1. Load up the game to where you would normally press "Continue". Instead, 2. Press Alt-Ctrl-Del 3. Go to the Task Manager, then Details, and scroll down to find the Executable 4. Right click on the Executable 5. Go to Priority, and click on "High" 6. Press "x" in upper Right-hand corner, to close the Task Manager. 7. Get out of the game down on the taskbar, and then restart it 8. You will have most of the resources of the computer devoted to the game, when it is running, for the rest of the day. 9. After your turn off your computer, you will have to go through this process, again. Don't worry, it takes me about 30 seconds to do it. I hope that this helps. Your problem might be that you are simply running out of computer system resources.
  25. The first thing you should do is to validate your local files: Steam, then right click on Skyrim SE, Properties, then Verify Integrity of Local Files. When I've had this problem, in the past ... no matter where in the game or the map ... usually about 5-6 files are corrupt, and have to be downloaded, again. If this happens, I'm going to assume that you have LOOT. Check it when you're done validating your local files, and if it tells you that Update, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn files need to be cleaned, use TESSEDIT to do so. Also, you have quite a mod list, there. How often do you add or delete mods from your game? Adding or deleting mods while in a play-through can thoroughly mess up the game. One last thing: I love SSE because of the graphics. But I've found the game to be thoroughly crash-worthy, depending on the computer that I use. When playing SSE (or Oldrim, for that matter), I always set the executable file at high priority. Before I learned how to do this, my SSE would CTD within five seconds of entering the first chamber in Bleak Falls Barrow. On high priority, I NEVER have a CTD that is due to a lack of system resources. It is always due to mods. Someone else should look at your modlist and determine if there are any mods which naturally conflict with each other. I don't have the expertise on the mods to tell you which ones conflict. Good luck!
