  1. I've got this figured out after much troubleshooting. Turned out to be bad meshes in this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\meshes\sky. These files come from a mod called "Sky fix lines or ripples bug" at http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17130. Turns out the files aren't even made for Skyrim so just delete the folder and your problem will be gone.
  2. I've also noticed this issue recently but haven't really had the time to troubleshoot it. I'll have to go back and see what mods I've added since I've first noticed it. Could also be caused by graphics driver issue, that is one thing I'm certain has changed since I've notice the white rectangle thingy. Using the GeForce 320.18 WHQL drivers currently but have not yet tried rolling back to test. I know this post is a little old at this point, but have you had any luck fixing the issue?
  3. There are a few things to note here. I've got plenty of mods installed including lots of high-res texture replacers but have never seen TESV.exe using more than 2.5 GB of RAM, but mostly these kinds of mods require higher amounts of VRAM and not system memory. If you are using a 32bit operating system adding more system RAM will not benefit you as it will not be able to utilize more than 4GB (a limitation of 32bit architecture). As far as the CTDs go, I had a huge issue with this when I first started in Solsteim but it turned out to be Skyrim.ini tweaks (see my post here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/932640-random-ctd-in-solstheim/). Not to say the Skyrim.ini tweaks are causing your issue, but it might be a good place to look first. I've not personally tried the Tropical Skyrim mod yet but I read changes some of the Skkyrim.ini settings was a workaround for some of the texture pop-in issues with the mod. -MJ
  4. Could be .ini tweaks causing the problem, I had CTDs and freezing BAD (specifically in Solsteim) until I reset a few of the settings back to default. Check my post here for details: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/932640-random-ctd-in-solstheim/ -MJ
  5. If you are still having this problem check my reply to this post. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/932640-random-ctd-in-solstheim/ -MJ
  6. The same issue occurred for me with the Dragonborn DLC on the island of Solsteim. Except it was worse, crashes every few minutes; the game was unplayable to say the least. Having over 150 mods installed, and of course started troubleshooting by removing all of them. I also removed all the added textures from mods as well. None of this fixed the issue. After some more googling I found some people having successfully fixed their own problems by changing some Skyrim.ini settings back to default levels, specifically the uGridsToLoad setting. When the game first came out I tweaked this file for better LOD and less texture pop-ins. By default some of the following settings aren't in the file meaning you created them manually, if they aren't there the game uses defaults. Here are the settings that made my game unplayable when in Solsteim: [General] sLanguage=ENGLISH uGridsToLoad=7 uExterior Cell Buffer=102 iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000 After some testing with this, these settings allowed uninterrupted gameplay for me: [General] sLanguage=ENGLISH uGridsToLoad=5 uExterior Cell Buffer=36 Sure, the distant textures don't look as good anymore and there are a few texture pop-ins but I can actually play without crashes now. What good is a better looking game if you can't even play the damn thing anyway? Hopefully this helps. Check out this old post here on changing and how to properly revert Skyrim.ini settings. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/739961-ugridstoload-dont-work/ -MJ
