  1. 1. The game is glitchy itself, and every mod increases its glitchiness. Don't believe '100% bug free' or 'known bugs: none' strings in the mod description. EVERY mod increases the CTD chance. Not pleasant, but it's true. 2. I would recommend You to make a clean save, then install ONE mod, then test Skyrim. If the game doesn't CTD very often, try to install ONE more mod, then test the game again. And so on. 3. Read the mod descriptions carefully. Try to avoid installing two or more mods that change the same thing (location, NPC or anything else). 4. General advice. NEVER install SKSE!!! Believe me, You don't want it! It's also pointless to install any mod that requires SKSE, for it won't work without it (most likely), and You must NEVER install SKSE!!!
  2. Just in case someone doesn't know it yet... There's a small site called Kjenstag Ruins. It's to the east from Morthal and to the southwest from Hjaalmarch Stormcloak Camp. I've visited it many times, but only by day. Today I came there at night and stumbled over a spectral guy in Ancient Nord armor. He started to run, I followed. In the end... well, if you don't know - try it yourself. It's nothing big, but it seemed nice to me. Reminded me good old Forlorn Watchman from Oblivion.
  3. I think the most unusual character I've ever played was a Dwemer guy. He was involved in the Elder Scroll research project (one of the lead researchers, actually), his team was trying to recreate the circumstances of Alduin's banishment, and he became a willing test subject. Imagine his feelings when he appeared in the Mzark tower, but it looked... well, old... ancient, actually. And there was noone around. When he left the tower, he found the surrounding area crawling with some creatures (wait a moment, they are... Falmer!?!). He made his way up through Alftand (every Dwemer knows that animunculi control system is extremely buggy because of that Small-not-hard Team programs), and finally found some books about... the Dwemer (and all that nonesense was printed?!). That guy was an exellent crafter and average fighter, but he never joined the Companions (are you kidding, Ysgramor's Companions killed my young brother in a skirmish). He avoided any dragor word walls (that glowing runes blur my sight, I'd better stay away). When asked "Do you hate Dunmer?" he answered "Who?" (Who are that dunmer, really? That surface guys from Resdayn are called Chimer, and they looked a little different.) And so on.
  4. Maybe it's because of some mod, but I can buy a Ring of Invisibility from any Khajiit trader. Along with a number of other items with unique enchantments (like rings of fire/frost/lightning cloaks, ring of ghostveil and so on). But Invisibility enchantment effect of that ring doesn't work though.
  5. Let him live. Just for fun. Besides, there are only two members of the DB that remain after the end of its questline (except the Listener, of course). So why not to increase the numbers of experienced assassins?
  6. Considering no other Dragon is known to possess that Thu'um, despite them having been alive for ages, it is safe to say the "bring a dragon back to life" Thu'um is something only Alduin had, or could have. If any Dragon could possess it the Dragon War wouldn't make sense. Dovahkiin managed to relearn one long forgotten Thu'um unknown even to Paarthurnax. What was created once can be recovered or recreated. The Blades are expert Dragon killers who know ancient magics that allow people to hunt Dragons with ease. Alduin brought back countless Dragons during the time he was alive, having people go off and kill them independently is a lot less effective then having an order of warrior whose sole job is to hunt dragons, and who have detailed knowledge of dragons, and their weaknesses. That's what I was trying to say. Let the Blades hunt the dragons. That's their way. There's at least one other way - the Way of the Voice. I think it's more effective than the Blades' way. I may be wrong. But I like an idea of peaceful coexistence more than the idea of genocide. So what I was trying to say: let the Blades expel me and kill the dragons. It's their choice. My choice is to leave them to their hatred and to go chat with Paarthurnax. And maybe help him to find some other dragons willing to accept his way (in future).
  7. In Boethiah's quest you can refuse to kill your follower and purge the entire Sacellum. (They're Daedra worshippers after all, so killing them may be considered "good".) As for the Dagon's quest... That guy (Silus Vesuius) opened a museum of the Mythic Dawn. I mean, he opened a museum of the Mythic Dawn! An organisation responsible for the Oblivion Crisis! And you hesitate to kill him? Imagine a guy trying to open a museum of al-Qaeda! When I played a "good" girl, I reforged the Razor, killed Silus, and dropped the Razor from the bone bridge in Sovngarde. And burned Silus's museum.
  8. Alduin brought back the other dragons by a Thu'um. This Thu'um can be learned (like Dragonrend) or reinvented. Why? Dovahkiin is a person, and like any other person he is able to choose his own goals. Even after killing Alduin. Vice versa. That's why I don't know how to answer the initial question. I mean, what's the point of rebuilding the Blades anyway? BTW, in the Third Era they were more an intelligence than anything else. So since I side with the Stormcloaks (almost every time), I see no need to rebuild the Blades anyway, for my characters, at least.
  9. I've met a pair of farmers when I was travelling somewhere west of Solitude. They told me that their farm was burned down by a dragon. I gave them 5 gold thinking: why can't I give them 5000? Why can't I build them a new farm?! That was one of the few ingame situations that gave me some feelings. My character is Dragonborn, after all, and I always thought that defending humans (or elves, or anyone else) from the dragons is my responsibility. I had to be there when that dragon was burning their farm!.. But I wasn't. :( I'll definitely change that miserable 5 gold to a decent sum in my private mod.
  10. I always thought that PC was entering Skyrim, not leaving. So I agree with sajuukkhar9000. Besides, the charatcer entering the province in the beginning of the game is an old Bethesda tradition.
  11. Never had problems in Riften, but I've noticed that some mods that add some new locations tend to cause crashes. I've installed a pair of mods with custom player homes, and the game began to CTD, when my character was in Solitude. So my advice is: try to disable all location adding mods. If it doesn't help, try to disable other mods one by one.
  12. Yeah, that would be good! With the Emperor's head as a pinnacle of collection. So I just put his clothes on a mannequin in Hjerim.
  13. One Word is in the High Gate Ruins. The entrance can be seen from the Icerunner wreck (where that lonely Argonian lives). Just climb up the hill and look east. One is located in Forelhost. Remember that dragon roost south of Riften? If you are there, look northeast. You can see Forelhost ruins and even the Word Wall (in case the weather is good). Oh, and you have to pass all the dungeon to get to the Wall, of course. That's unless you can fly. And one Word is in Skuldafn. Anyway, that's great! Only one to go.
  14. None, I think. None at all. On my playthroughs I've met a number of Thalmor speaking as straight as possible that the AD is preparing for a new war, and doesn't intend to lose it. Ulfric does not spell it, but Galmar is rather straight and tells something about crushing that Thalmor b******s right after establishing peace and order in Skyrim (don't remember his exact phrase, sorry). I've finished the Imperial side of the Civil War line only once, but I don't remember general Tullius telling something about the Empire's intentions to "crush that Thalmor". Though I remember well the dialogue that followed Ulfric's death. Rikke: "Talos bless your soul." Tullius: "What did you just say?" Rikke: "Nothing, sir!" Maybe I'm wrong in some words, I'm very sorry about it (I hate to quote incorrectly), but that "Talos-What-Nothing" I remember well. As well as my strong wish to kick that general hard saying something like: "By the Nine Divines, are you a Legion General or what? What are you afraid of? That I'll run to Thalmor right now to tell them about this little conversation? There's noone here except the three of us, and I don't think Rikke will do it either!" As for the Empire... Our world's history tells us that every empire eventually crumbles and dissolves. (Well, almost every empire, but that's a statement for another topic.) And I'd like to remind that the events of Skyrim take place in the Fourth Era. There was a strong and mighty Empire in the past (and I liked it!), but now... Roman Empire once was strong and mighty too. And what happened later? It seems to me that the Fourth Era will be a time of fall of the old Empires and rise of new Kingdoms. Sad  (for me, at least), but that's what happening. Of course, I may be wrong. PS: And about Ulfric being a Thalmor agent... I don't really want to argue. Again.
  15. I think we belong to different "debating schools". If someone writes "The Emperor is a puppet.", I read "The person who posted it thinks the Emperor is a puppet (and seems to be quite sure about it)." BTW, wasn't all written above a statement? Except a phrase "I think most people will see..." The same. BTW, in my post I wrote "Don't know about you..." So your phrase about my "pot-shot" was again your statement. And, IMHO, "not entirely right one". Brucealso, sorry for all that... in Your topic!
