  1. Actually NMM-Oblivion does work for most normal mods. However stuff like OBSE plugins or complex installs like OCO2 might require some manual install. And if you accidentally hit scan games and then cancel and go back then you will have to finish the setup. Oblivion should be their along with all other supported games, however, you may have manually direct it if the program can't find it. And then you have to manually check/accept or cancel each game.
  2. Sure, I slowly started packing on the mods myself over time and only mean “greed” loosely. It might not be the best word to use but I want to draw a distinction between what I think is actually needed and what might be considered an “extra” to enhance your game even further. For me FO3 and NV “need” a lot less than a game that has traditionally for me been one big generic sandbox world that does need many mods, and that's Oblivion. As for the world-building I've never really taken much stock in these things when it comes to video games. And I usually don't do quest mods for any game aside from the local DLC. The only thing I can say is that I do think this series is intended to be somewhat campy and relies heavily on 50s commercial and political nostalgia to give it that extra dimension of personality that it probably needs. I wouldn't go so far as to call it goofy AF, but a bit goofy in general, sure why not. Aliens in those 50's era suits with 50s era looking space guns – I personally think that lent itself to the game's unique character quite well. In fact, off the top of my head, I don't think there is one FO3 DLC that I did not like and all played intriguingly for me. I even liked the main and side quests for the most part. Sure, I had some grievances here and there, with either the main game or part of a DLC, but overall it's still a fairly solid game for me with some great extra content.
  3. No More Room In Hell. It is free to play but feels extremely niche. After more than 2 very separate hours trying to figure it out I just gave up and decided that it is even worse than old school E.T. At least with instructions, that game had a lot more imagination going for it.
  4. When I first played Fo3 many years after first modding Oblivion I thought, "This game is much better than Oblivion out of the box w/o mods." I mean there was so much less than with Oblivion that I felt needed to modded in the first place. And now you're asking about NV? Even better. In the FO universe you need even less mods, unless you're just plain greedy for extra content. Graphical overhauls non-withstanding. It is one of the best out of the box games you can get. Anything else is just pure fluff. Edit: Not including FO4 which has a great many ups and downs.
  5. I'm shocked no one ever did this! Lol too much stuff to cover I guess. Edit: Those FO3 versions are so classic.
  6. Have not tried it (I use an xbox usb controller), but please feel free to come back and share with us how its been working for you on all those traditionally keyboard games.
  7. See I hadn't even thought of that. Nice that someone pointed that out for you. But how are the enchantments useless mid to late game? You'll have to forgive me, I tend to mod more than play the durned game lol. Also, how do you make a non-enchanted version with those adjustments?
  8. And I hear that phrenology is making a come back.
  9. Just do it the way you want to do it. Worst thing that will happen is you won't get a lot of downloads. And just think of mine as the over-complicated answer. Just cut what you will and use the rest.
  10. Xpadder can be used to customize any keyboard only games for a controller. I think there is trial free version somewhere but I don't have the link. There are also some ini tweaks for optimizing this for Oblivion that you will be wanting to implement. Check out the modder LegoManIAm - I think he had something regarding this but I can't seem to find it right now myself, sorry. And personally I can't stomach keyboard only games and will use xpadder exclusively if I need to simulate keyboard for an older game.
  11. Metallica should cover this song. It would be a nice to see it as part of their Garage Days Revisited II. Seriously that's adding major game revenue right there.
  12. I simply cannot stomach the horrible UI in vanilla skyrim, so, unless/until SKSE, and SkyUI become available, I am going to skip SE. Yes, it is very terrible. But the good news is that in another month or two you won't be able to make that excuse anymore.
  13. Seems like you're on the right path with deciding what the limit should be 30%. Also I like how you asked if fur should be more flammable - yes, but that would probably be more to the point where it would damage the health of the armor more than the wearer. Also in turn, I would think steel would conduct electricity more so shock damage would probably do a little extra to chain but probably more to steel. And unlike fire and fur, I'm guessing this would not really do any other than normal damage, but I don't think magic does any damage to armor anyway unless its just that particular spell. I guess find the logical rhythm that makes the most sense to you and go with that would be my suggestion. Just try to keep it balanced with all the other normal ways players can buff and debuff in the game like with spells and amulets and rings and such but I think you already had that in mind. Me, I would probably overthink everything just once and make a list. Then I would have to compromise on what's not going to make it into the mod for sheer lack of convenience of it or some other reason. Of course you can never make any mod perfectly realistic, but half the fun is trying to get it as close as possible!
  14. SE does look and play better with mods than the 32-bit version. It's sort of like being able to tell the difference between a song that is mp3 and CD quality - there is definitely a difference if you listen closely. Of course not every author is going to be on board with making sure all their work translates. Personally, I had a lot more fun playing the revamped 64 version and trying out less of the ported mods than I ever did with 32 for some reason. Hmmm go figure :/
  15. It would be better to have at least 1 or 2 other variants on the armor types. I certainly wouldn't want every last piece of steel armor, for example, to have the same exact +'s and -'s. If you're just doing this for yourself then do what you like. I'm only suggesting this in case you want any sort of serious downloads for this. Then you should make it as dynamic as possible so people have some options and range with it.
  16. Different regions should have different resistances, like more frost resistance for armors found in or around Bruma. It would great to see these on merchants to some limit of course, and also in dungeon LLs where you might get some more varied results.
  17. I don't think you understand my question. What's worse is that you give some sort of robot blanket non-answer. So yes, please be my guest.
  18. I use DVD but it might be because of install location if on windows - the game (if modding it) doesn't like the default location where windows puts extra security on. That might mean having to reinstall steam and all your games into another directory. Of course you should try and verify the integrity of your oblivion steam game first (if you don't know this part you can look it up and should be easy to find). Other than that I heard oblivion steam+mods is much less stable than on the DVD, so if you're serious about playing a heavily modded game then you might want to consider getting a disc... if nothing else works that is. On another note I'm not sure if OBMM still works at 100% or has any support so use it at your own risk. Speaking from personal experience it completely broke for me and I had to start using NMM which works just fine for it. Your results may vary from person to person though. And in case you are not already aware, don't forget about also using Wrye Bash and a sorting program like BOSS or LOOT.
  19. I believe that is what I originally thought. I have not tried it yet though. I will report back here with my results in case anyone may be interested to know this.
  20. FFVII - seems they just had a sale and slightly updated it for steam/pc *Nostalgic! shoos away modding responsibilities a bit longer* Edit:
  21. The landscape should have some interesting overhaul alternative. Possibly the Hesu mod collection. I haven't tried it yet but it looks better than UL. Otherwise the landscape and height maps by default is already like 100x better in Skyrim than in Oblivion. But since these would all have to painstakingly be done by hand it will probably never happen.
  22. Under the right circumstances, dread zombies. They're like dummies that fight back!
  23. You need to run the program as an Admin since writing the author name or description and then clicking on any other field will automatically overwrite the active file.
