  1. TES5edit will show you where some mods might be conflicting. Here's a video that might help.
  2. running a ryzen 5 1600 myself. Had to use my gtx 980 ti 6gb because gfx card prices are obscene right now but my 980 handles skyrim like buttah
  3. You can actually just use the nif file in racemenu to import the head. There's a link to a tutorial that can help you do it manually. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66756/?tab=description
  4. NiOverride is the netimmerse over ride found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37481/
  5. You can try this for CTD loading a game https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/ I dont know how many mods you're running but if loot doesnt show a conflict not sure what to say. Try this link too for some ideas on fixing crashes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/?
  6. might wana provide more info like when the crash happens, what exactly are you doing in the game or is it ctd while loading etc.
  7. try loading the esp through additemmenu if you use that mod.
  8. Sorry to necro this thread but it seriously saved my bacon. I was ready to give up on my follower but after doing the tintmask method it worked. Heres how i fixed the red/purple forehead and warpaint problem with my follower that i imported as an npc file created in racemenu. Just go to your character assets folder and remove the tintmask folder to your desktop. Open the creation kit and load your skyrim.esm and your follower.esp making sure your follower is set to active Find and open your follower and import your npc file and edit your character. Click ok and then save your esp Click ctrl F4 to export your facegen Put your tintmask folder back into character assets after that your character shouldnt have the warpaint or red/purple head. Also if you have the warpaints on your character or scars just click on the DDS file in the left column while you're editing your character and set their color to "ColorAverage". Good luck everyone dont give up on making your custom follower this sh*t has taken me three days to figure out because of all the incorrect information out there. This is the guaranteed way to get your custom follower up and running.
  9. Not sure whats going on with my enb or maybe a mod but some of my npcs have a weird orange glow. Added some pics so you can see what im talking about. Any help appreciated.
  10. That's great, thanks. Looks nice - is that Tamriel Reloaded Whiterun? However, it IS about how many mods you run and which ones when you go above and beyond the 255 limit. 80 is pretty modest these days I think. I'm running 385 mods right now, of that number 290 are mods with esps. Using Wyrebash I merged a lot of esps and have 252 in my load order, presently. I like to have a few under the limit in case I want to add an armor mod or two later in my game - those are about the only safe mods to add later, aside from texture mods, I've found. I have been able to get an acceptably smooth game now - following the tips here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/74427/? I still get occasionally stutters in big cities with lots of NPCs around and the occasional bizarre texture load pause... but 2560x1440 with Snowfall ENB and Vivid Weathers and rock solid 50-60 fps. I've limited it to 60 max. I'm running pretty much all the big mods, so fingers crossed it remains stable as I level up. The white run mod is from enhanced cities and towns i believe. I run a small number of mods right now due to the win10 vram issue and after they fix that then i can use my full 6gb i have on my gtx980.
  11. Is it possible to get a heavily modded smooth game in win 10? Absolutely. I just uploaded this video i did in win10 i run about 80 mods, not sure if that counts as "heavily" but i can keep a solid 60fps in the world, 40-50 in cities. I run vsync off with a frame limiter in the enb set to around 70fps to compensate for the fps loss during recording. I run tetrachromatic as well. Its not about how many mods you run its really about setting up your enb to be efficient. https://youtu.be/Pv8qZzVkBWE
  12. well i hate to be another "didnt work for me" reply but here i am. Built a new ryzen machine and installed windows 10. All my skyrim files were on a separate drive and stupid me thought it would be easy to just fire them up. Anyway after some searching i realized i had to delete d3d9.dll and that got skyrim working. However, the enbhost wont load and i've done all the crap people have suggested. There's no way in hell im playing skyrim without an enb. I actually downgraded my enb to 292 also, no luck getting enb to load up. Any help is appreciated. **UPDATE** Ok everyone i got this working (thank god it only took me 4 hours right?) So here is what you do. Since windows 10 and d3d9 dont like each other you have the choice of deleting it which will get you into skyrim but with no enb. However you download the 2010 dx runtimes and that will fix the enb problem so you can keep d3d9 and here's how you do it. This is how you get the launcher to work if you use steam and you get the error "launcher has stopped working". Go to Steam -Steamapps -common -Skyrim -Right Click the 'Skyrim Launcher' Application -Troubleshoot compatibility -Troubleshoot program -The Program Rquires additional permissions -Follow the next pop up step with a 'yes' -Test the program. -Yes, save these settings. DO NOT RUN ANY COMPATIBILITY LIKE WIN 7/8 ETC. You also must run TESV.exe as ADMIN To fix your enb problem here is what i did. Downloaded and installed the dx2010 runtimes into a folder on my desktop. THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME In the Skyrim folder look for DirectX10 folder and then run DXSETUP.exe Installing the files in the skyrim directory made it work for me. Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation, the thought of skyrim without enbs is cringworthy. Good luck.
  13. Yesterday i switched to windows 10 and ryzen. I had all of my skyrim files/mods/nexus manager etc, on a separate drive and not on the OS drive. Thinking i could just re-access the files after i installed windows 10 that didnt happen. After launching nexus manager my skyrim loads and then ctd after bethesda logo. Not sure if i need to reinstall skyrim or not. My fear is i would have to install the 100+ mods im using and frankly, i dont want that to happen. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  14. So im sure that im probably in the same situation as most of you in that, ive spent more time modding the game than actually playing it. After countless hours ive finally "finished" how i want my game to look and feel. However ive come to a point where i actually have to start playing the game. Ive done a full playthrough on ps4 (yea i know i was a console pleb but now ill never go back to that) and so i really dont want to do the full story again. Are there any mods out there that are not story-driven but make the game fun to play? I was thinking about the campfire survival game but just wanted some feedback on other mods that might be fun to use.
  15. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but i used obs studio a lot in skyrim to record gameplay. However in special edition as soon as i start recording the game crashes to desktop. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. I actually would have to disagree with this statement since ive seen people running i5's and i3's just fine due to the fact they have a very high end gpu.
  17. possibly here's a video about that cards performance if you can stretch that budget a little i would get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125903&cm_re=gtx_mini-_-14-125-903-_-Product the 6gb of ram is going to help out on high res textures and help get your fps up. Plus i trust gigabyte way more than zotac
  18. At what resolution? My 970 was getting 35-55 outside at 1080p with the entire skyrim revisited setup...350 mods. Very smooth with dips into 30's on intense scenes. OP...your enb local is incorrect. You have a 3gb card but have video memory set to 4096..... use this to configure your enb local correctly. also reducing shadows and certain view distances can greatly improve performance. But your memory is a BIG reason for your issues im sure. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENBlocal_INI/Memory also be careful with texture sizes so you dont max out your vram FOV from my experience has a minimal performance impact. in addition the above i recommend using this to optimize your INI files and ensure you dont have any harmful edits http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69787/? I use it myself. The "high" preset is what is recommended. Author said ultra setting is for screen archers. And trust me its demanding. It depends on the fov you're playing at. I know a lot of people play at 90 and i can tell you that switching from 90 to the default (75) does have a noticeable fps difference.
  19. Yea same here haha out of all that information you provided that i have not tried is the resolution setting, the anisotropic filter, and I did the same as you did I dont have the 4k version textures I have all 2k stuff. However I might also try to reset that buffer size because i think that might be the culprit Cutting that fov down will for sure gain you frames but like it said its up to you if seeing left and right is more important than frames I absolutely concur with what you are saying! I will definetly adjust that FOV I did adjust the fade settings in game and reduced the filtering and set my appropriate ram usage and buffer I ended up gaining about 6 FPS which may not be much but I'm very satisfied with that! and I wanted to personally thank you for your time. Im glad you picked up some frames. It does make a difference in the long run.

  21. Well when i first started modding i was in the same boat except i was around 35 fps and i'll tell you what i did, doesnt mean you have to do what i do but i run snapdragon at 60fps now with around 50 mods. I shut off vsync and put on a fps limiter at 60. I did this not only in game but on my nvidia control panel. Since you run a higher hz refresh monitor your mileage may vary. I cut my shadows down to high or medium. There's no reason to run ultra its not a huge advantage to you. I reduced my fov to around 65-70 and that will gain you more fps i mean is it really necessary to see left and right on a wider scale at the cost of fps? To me it wasnt. I shut off all nonessnetial enb settings like lens, sunglare, sun rays, ambient occlusion which will also shut off ssao which can be an fps drain. You really have to weed out your enb and optimize it to your system. I used mods like rcrn to get more detail out of small things instead of using bigger mods that had more scripting I made sure the enb saw that CORRECT amount of vram and buffer size for me its 1042 and 8192 make sure its picking up your accurate sizes of memory. I cut fades like object fade, actor fade etc in half I set max ansiotropic at 12 but its not a big deal to run 16 I didnt bother with 4k resolutions and just went with 2k Those are just a few things i did to get my game up to 60 fps but im running a gtx 980ti with 6gb vram so i cant say if any of this will help but it doesnt hurt to try. I could never run skyrim at 30fps just not good enough for my tastes. Oh and i forgot that i killed depth of field, cant stand it and it hurts fps also
  22. Too many unanswered questions to give you any real advice but id say for the most part that graphics card is holding you back. 1. Whats your fov? 2. Whats your shadows set at? 3. What are all the mods you're running? 4. Have you shut off enb in game to see what your fps is when its on vanilla? 5. Are you running vsync off with a frame limiter? Lots of things to know before you can start making changes that will get your fps higher.
