so why do i have this feeling bethesda is going to screw over every pc users using mods who not been sanctioned or in the near future paid for
and in the mean time can somebody explain how to get my mods working again in simple language i am a accountant not a bloody IT specialist
-
Conjuring Bound Swords is totally broken XP-wise, aye.
Someone told me he's halfway up to Conjuration mastery after running through Bleak Falls Barrow, constantly summoning these.
they are vanilla and even modded theylevel fast , at lvl 30 they are alreadty at 80+
negative side is that the other skills do not raise fast enough so at some points i am left with some unused perk points
-
another real fun playstyle i ve been running lately is this refguard very skimpy light forsworn armour and using dual wielding bound sxord and conjuration lagic , backed up with alternation and rstoration
amazing how fast your conjuration and one handed skills rises by using dual wielding only problem is whenn dragons actually refuse to land and she is stuck using wards and fire atronachs all the time , not bad for my restoration skill tho
-
i supose vanilla followers
for me it is lydia hands down
even modded she still rank top 5

@Georgiegril
Kick ass! Thanks again xD
@kleinstaff
Thanks! I'll get right on those. Not sure what the first one you listed does, but sounds awesome xD
I do feel like the amount of magic in vanilla Skyrim is pretty weak =/
I also feel like the spells themselves are weak xD
Does this also effect Vampire Lord?
Your telling me :O! I thought it was amazing on the console until I saw some vids on youtube where it looked better, had more weapons, more enemies, more quests, more magic, shouts, etc...Then I was all like, I'm re-buying this game on the PC xD
it is a immersion mod
what it does is when a npc speaks to you or somebody else your character turns his head toward the npc , only visible in third person but it makes your character so much more alive and real

Putting this in the spoiler forum due to DB content.
I've been really immersing myself in the Dragonborn add-on lately. Reading, talking, wandering...and overall, I think Bethesda gave a giant "screw you" to all the players (myself included) who wanted to go back to Morrowind. Various conversations and literary items tell us that Vvardenfell is now completely uninhabitable thanks to Red Mountain. Vivec, Gnisis, Balmora, and Ald-Ruhn are confirmed as destroyed, and there's confirmed damage across the mainland too.
I've also been looking at the world map for Solstheim itself. It's NOTHING like the original Bloodmoon island. There are familiar landmarks, such as Raven Rock, Fort Frostmoth, Skaal Village, etc., but the layout's all wrong. Sure, the island got blasted by the eruption of Red Mountain, but it wouldn't change the positioning of things to that extent.
Overall, I just feel like Bethesda stuck a finger in the faces of those who wanted to return to the land of the Silt Striders...sort of an indirect way of saying, "You want to go back to Morrowind? Here, we'll slap a bunch of crap together that you'll recognise to shut you up."
while i agree with your point of view i can also understand bethesda point of view
and that is the limitations of consoles compared with pc s and that is i think one of the main reasons why so many of the factions and DLC s content are so shallow and not because of lack of imagination
it is a bit sad but on the other hand the console version of these games are what brings in the money and the pc version the fame and even with the next generation of consoles and the next bethesda game § which i hope is fallout 4 probably late this year or early next) we will see the same empty lands as with skyrim and its dlc s

Hello all, I am new to this forum and was wondering what mods would make my new Skyrim experience (old experience was for the console years ago) worthwhile? Also...since I'm new, I will most likely need help downloading/adding these mods onto the game .-. I apologize in advance if this isn't the correct area for this post.
besides the advice other posters said about mod install tutorials
here is a list of mods i think are essential
player head tracking you can not imagine how more immersive this is
balanced magic makes magic so much more useful without unbalacing the game
apocalypse spell pack because the number of spells in vanilla are just boring this one add many more again without unbalacing the game
better vampires basicly because bethesda vampires are meehh
enjoy and remember you have not played skyrim for real untill you played it o,n a pc and modded

Nevermind. This doesn't work in Win8, and there are other problems with it. Just use this I guess: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36125/?
Hey, I was having trouble with the double cursor problem when using Alt-tab to switch out and into Skyrim. I noticed someone said you could pull up the Steam overlay first to prevent the problem, and fix it after it has occurred. So I thought why not automate it?
Autohotkey is used for some existing alt-tab "mods". But this one is really simple. It just catches alt-tab and sends a shift-tab keystroke first, to pull up the steam overlay (which you never actually see when you return).
- You just need to install this really lightweight tray app: http://www.autohotkey.com
- Then right click the tray icon --> Edit this script
- Then paste in this and save:
#IfWinActive Skyrim AltTab:: ShiftTab AltTab return #IfWinActive
Seamless. Acts just like alt-tab (but works properly). Hope it helps someone.

doesn't the later versions of SKSE fixed that
i think i read somewhere it was skse related but could be wring been so long i had this glitch
-
Yea that's it.
It's not permanent, it switches back to normal for a short while after several seconds, but it makes the game unplayable anyway. I would say the blindness lasts about... 3-5 seconds. Maybe up to 10.
afraid it is part of the game , no idea if there is a mod that fixes that , make sure you not hated or that there are any enemies outside and just close your eyes for a few seconds

what is the definition of cheating
i gave some of my characters some gear a few times at the start of the game
or when none of the blacksmiths in skyrim suddenly ran out of steel and i mean NONE had a single ingot of steel i gave my character some
and on few occasions early in the game i did lower the difficulty of the game because that damn bear chief kept killing my character instantly each time i tried to pass that area ( i really really hate bears in this game)
but is ths cheating when the game designers gave you the codes
you can say that using mods is cheating aswell
-
do you mean the moment of blindness when you step outsside furing daylight
if so it should be only a second or if it is permanent than i think there is something wrong with your better vampire mods , tread the help page on the mcm menu or remove the mod and reinstall it
and i think there was a mod that help vampires during daylight whenthey wore a hooded cape but it was some time ago and i can't seem to find it anymore
-
no idea i use the community cap unlocker
what i do know isd that i never but never have inveted perk points into lockpicking
-
i feel most comfortable playing a sort of mix of a noble warrior and a fierce barbarian usually with littke magic and then only for defense or healing rellying most tly on alchemy and enchanting for that exta punch
most of the trime with his or her trusted companion sighnne http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37372
but i love this game and i will try and play as many play styles i can think of at the moment o have about 6 different characters ranging from lvl 58 to 21
redguard berserker/conjurer , to a fimperial mage to a succubus spellsword that only uses conjuration and illusion as her main weapons
and please do not mention ESO it is not and never will o be r, nor was it ever intended to be a elder scrolls game it is a attempt to beat as much money out of the fans as possible

Hi
I am looking to keep the original 'High Fantasy' Skyrim theme, and am not looking to change the core theme of the game (for want of a better word) on my first playthrough. Rather, I am looking to enrich the vanilla Skyrim world. I am mainly interested in any mods which will:
- Improve sound and graphics.
- Fix bugs or glitches.
- Improve quests (which I read can be overly simplified in the vanilla game)
- Enrich the world e.g. by enhancing cities, enemies, spells, quests etc.
- Add extra immersion layers giving the player 'more to think about' (e.g. the Frostfall mod) sounds interesting, it seems only correct that I should have to worry about travelling in very cold places).
- Increasing difficulty (e.g. Is the game too easy out of the box?)
I hope this gives people a better understanding and makes it easier to recommend any mods after that explanation.
if you thinkong on frostfall you have to use realistic needs and diseases they so go well together
also you need the winter is comming mod which adds fur cloaks to the game
Climates od tamriel also goes well with those mods
hunterborn for the hardcore survival game
another mod you might want to look into is deadly dragons
balanced magic
apocalypse spell pack
player headtracking
enchanted towns and villages
convienent horses
immersive weapons
immersive armours
alternative start live another life
but there are so many great mods that add to the game without changing the world setting
take your time and browse the different categories you will be suprised how many great mods there are that never make the spot light

Hi again
Thankyou so much for your considerate replies. My PC specs are:
i5-3570K Intel CPU (currently not overclocked but I am happy to try and overclock if that will help)
8GB RAM
Nvidia GTX770 4GB Graphics card
@Camaro & Brandon. Is it possible for you to print out a listing of all of your mods through your mod utility? If so I would be grateful if you could supply them to me somehow, that would give me a really good start.
@Brandon. Will defo PM you mate thanks for the offer. I love the sound of the Frostfall mod, anything that will add extra layers of immersion and challenge like that I am very interested in.
you do well with that machine
but like several people said use the enb boost and ctd memory baétch it is ibe if rgise lids aklist mandatory
skse ,skui and the unofficial patcjes are a must all the rest is personal choice
you can turn skyrim into a high fantasy adventure or turn it into a grim gothic horror story
or turn it into a asian manga adventure or into a story of complete debauchery that makes even sanguine blush
the choice is yours
but no matter what mods or how many if you do not get your load order right it will not work so use BOSS and do read the mods description make sure the mods you want to use are compatible with other mods you are using
-
15 per month!!! thats ridiculous!!
not really i pay for 4 accounts on another MMO and thinking on a fifth but atleasdt that MMO is worth it
in general people end up paying more for a F2P than a monthly subscription fee if the game is any good
and paying you will , if you want to go beyong that cap level or want to acces a certain area or want that badass armour that
zenimax already opened the box with their special imperial edition and there horses
-
because bethesda screwed up on that
my opinion vampires should be strongest when fully fed and not the other way round
that is why i use bettrr vampire mod
-
why pay so much and a subscription fee for a single player game online
wait for another 6 months and the game will go F2P
and if you really want to play a true immersive elder scrollds game that actually is a challenge and plays different each time you can buy the TES IV and V with all expansions pretty cheap on steam no subscription fee and you can mod the hell out of those games
-
my advice read and watch the youtube videos on how to install some essential mods
once done the mods that are in my opinion a must have are
SKSE
SKUI
Unofficual patch all 4 of them
player headtracking
better vampires
one one of the companion mods UFO EFF or AFT choose one
anything else is personal choice
but download them and test them out first and be sure to read the instructions and description first
your load order is very important so use BOSS aswell it is mandatory
you can have a top of the line game machine that can handle 100 + mods but if your load order isn't correct or installed incompatible mods your game will not work

Anyone claiming it to be a WoW clone hasn’t played it or maybe doesn't understand wow, I got roughly over 100 ppl that came from WoW now permanently in eso in just one guild im in that would express their opinion of the game.
its more accurate to say its more like DAoC witch is high parsing it since that was the best pvp system ever created in an mmo. Obviously anyone who dislikes mmos will dislike it and bash it to no end/reason but overall no denying that its a great mmo. I really like the character advancement witch is more inline to Daggerfall and Arena for those actual tes fans...... what a concept picking a class that is meaningful unlike Skyrim witch utterly destroyed the class system all together in tes. Bethesda tries to redesign a game every time and sometimes they succeed in areas and others is just epic fail hopefully they will learn from their mistakes next game, maybe they can also learn from the successes of zenimax. Every elder scroll game created failed to some degree and succeeded in others Im not just picking out skyrim.
Lot of games get copied from other sources take Elder scrolls Ultima underworld ring any bells. TES base fantasy setting isn’t original by any means most fantasy as we know it today like it or not originated from J. R. R. Tolkien, that isnt a bad thing.
Yes Tes has its own unique lore but the base fantasy originated from Tolkien. Its certainly isn't bad copying DAoC something
that wasn’t only great implementation but also wildly succeeded just like Tolkien.
aarrgghh what pvp ??
no disrespect intended but the pvp in these kind of themepark games is lame that involves absolutely no risk or challenge at all
yes DAOC was a great game but do you know why it eventually failed
because it was pretty difficult adding new content into the game without breaking the lore in the end the players got bored and moved on
and if you really want a great pvp sustem , it means that you as a player have to take risk and that the rewards are equal to the risks you take same goes for the penalties when you lose
what meaning does pvp has if there is no reward or penalty
this is my personal opinion about pvp and i confess my ideas and opinion about pvp comes from almost 7 years of eve online
which after thinking about it also probably has influenced my opinions on how and what a MMO should be
i really love both the TES and fallout franchisesthey have produced some of the best games in the last 14 yers and seeing my beloved franchise being abused like this because they at zenimax pressume all the fans will buy anything with the TES name stamped on it , just irritates me immensly
edit i am not a native english speaker so sometimes i failed to make my points of view more clearer

Why is it a Wow clone? You claim so but provide no proof. Is it because it's a MMO RPG where you adventure and do quests? Because if so, WoW didn't do it first. *shocked gasp*
Explain further? It's perfectly doable solo, I only teamed up with friends once during the beta. You just gotta be cautious and have the right gear.
To play together, explore, have fun and be social with friends? To share rewards?
Because it's an MMO. You're meant to play with people.
Honestly, if you hate it so much, don't play it.
it is a clone in all respect it game concepts are the same , you grind your quests , get new gear and level up and you keep doing this forever , there is no ridk there is little use of initiative the whole game world is prechewed and scripted for you , only thing you need to do is clixk your mouse buttons and pay your subscription fee
WoW was one of the first succesful themepark MMO s and still is considered the bench mark for all other mmos that came afterwards
i have no preblem with the gameconcept of these games , if people want to play in a themepark fine , let them have fun
But to blatantly copy game mechanics from other games , with some minor changes and give the map TES related names , for me is just lame and sounds for me the developers had no imagination whatso so ever
i ve said this many times in other post but they had the chance to create something really unique in the world of mmo s , but instead they went with a concept that has been done over and over again and people realy getting tired of it
Wow, okay. First of all - WoW was not the first MMO. But you are right, it set the benchmark for other MMOs. But didn't you just describe every RPG ever? Skyrim, ESO and WoW both have quests, you get new gear in all three of those games and you level up in all three games. By your logic, Skyrim is a WoW copy then.
You have no problem with them, yet you slam ESO for doing so? You're a hypocrite.
The locations... I can't argue with you, you just sound stupid. The maps are LOCATIONS in Tamriel, therefore, they have the names from lore. Shock horror, I know right?
I think they did. There is no set linear path for your class, you have do much roleplaying, the crafting system is now risky and fun at the same time, the game is actually a challenge, adventure and exploration to do, lots of content and chatter from the NPCs, and it's clearly something done for fans of the series.
So if you don't like MMOs, don't play it. Simpl
no WoW was not the first but it was the first one that really reached out to the mass audience
yes they all have quest but you can not compare a single player game with a themepark mmo
in a game like TES V you playing a virtual sandbox where while it is the ultimate end game it isn't really important what you do or how you do it you can even completely avoid questing and still level up by just plucking flowers and doing alchemy and nothing else
you can not in a themepark mmo where questing is the only way to level up and or get new items
pre determined classes is a bane in character debelopment it basicly restricts your character development into one or 2 stereotype class with highly predictable playstyles
to be honest after almost 12 years of MMOs it is getting very boring to see the same game concepts over and over afain with only small and superficial changes
no disrespect intended , if you want to play this game and you enjoy it great for you but this old guy is basicly fed up with how gamepublshers try to beat as much money out of the fans by producing medioric games nobody really wanted in the first place

I have never seen such ignorant opinions. There are at least three other topics about ESO here but Skyrim players can't talk about them because they only play Skyrim? Wow.
i would wait a few more months till the game goes F2P
ther'e is a reason why there are tons of negative views on ESO on the internet
not because it is a bad game , it is even well made , but because the whole game concept is so generic and could be any generic fantasy world
Actually, a lot of reviewers have been praising the game but critics ing the fee. It's a decent game, definatly not a WoW knockoff nor Skyrim with friends, and has a few core elements that set it our from other games.
it will always stay a WoW clone in the end the results are the same you grind quests , get new gear and level uo , yiu keep repeating this till you get bored out of your mind or reach level cap whatever comes first
and the fact that somebody at zenimax had a brainfart and decided that this game should be doable solo and there shall be locked faction lands pretty much kill any rpg immersion
what incentives are there to group together to solve a quest
why can't i enter that part of the map on my own risk, developers can avoid griefing with a pretty simple solution
all these things makes me think people at zenimax took the easiest and cheapest way out
-
besides the blatant cjanges in the lore in ESO think on this for a moment
in every TES game and bouth fallout 3 and NV your character is the hero theone and single hero that saves the world , okay in oblivion you are the one who helps the guy ro dave the world
and we all take pride in that that your character is so special in this game world because he or she is so special and stands out over the rest of tamriel
but what is your character in a world ful of heroes like in ESO
knowing that each and everyone else will be doing the same quests
bang there goes my immerion
