"enhanced interrogation" is just the politically correct term for torture. Doesn't matter how you slice it, or who is doing it.

And the teeter-totter flips yet again. I wonder if the public will benefit any this time? Suppose that depends on how you define 'benefit'..... we will see fewer dem policies making it to the oval office for a signature...... but, are the republican policies really any better?

It isn't about 'news', or even 'good journalism', it's about Ratings. And that's it. Certain types of stories inflame various segments of the population, which generates yet more news, so, those are the stories that get top billing. Militarization of the cops really isn't what it's about, but, it sure sounds good.... most of the white cop/black victim shootings are done with a pistol.... standard issue firearm for ALL police. Not that it really matters just WHAT they shoot them with, they are still just as dead. Notice you rarely, if ever... hear about ANY other type of cop involved shooting. Why don't those make the news? Could it be because that particular segment of the population doesn't react quite so sensationally? Hhhmmmm..... I don't watch broadcast news any more, I don't read the newspapers, at least, not the print version.... I get my news from a selection of websites from around the world. Sometimes, the differences in how a story is portrayed from one country to another, is truly enlightening.

Congress has been doing the insider trading thing since Wall Street first got their start. That's nothing new. It's also nothing new that congress passes laws that make it 'legal' for them to do things that would put anyone else in prison, or exempt themselves even from enforcement of various laws/acts/bills they pass. Nor is it unheard of for them to pass legislation that restricts certain behaviors, only to later gut the previous legislation. None of this is new. None of it is a surprise. Washington is full of criminals and thieves. That's not news either. It's just gotten a lot worse in the last decade or so. The whole system really needs an overhaul, but, that isn't going to happen short of overthrowing the current government. This is NOT the country our forefathers envisioned.

On tpoic: I've read a senate minority proposal to shift the enrollment to medicare, while dismantling about two thirds of the Affordable Health Care Act. Since in the long run either version is a tax, why not utilize the infrastructure of Medicare which works at least, during the transition? There has to be some way to dismantle the worst aspects of Obama Care without throwing the baby out with the bath water. We are already paying the medicare tax.... so it's not like we would be out anything additional. So far as I am concerned, roll them over into medicare, and then LEAVE them there..... use the money that would have gone to subsidies to augment medicare. People get coverage, they are in a HUGE pool, they aren't 'require' to carry insurance for issues they will NEVER have to worry about.... (A young guy having maternity insurance? Seriously???) Everybody wins, more folks get insured.

Ah, so, the messenger, and the medium he chose, makes the message illegitimate, therefore, you don't want to argue against his points. Right. Got it. Personally, regardless of the above points, the message is still relevant, and in a lot of cases, accurate. I do not agree with your assessment.

Think I would be looking at background processes running on your computer, hitting caps lock may toggle some other background app, and that is chewing up system resources.... Do you get the same FPS drop if you just hold the shift key?

just added second amd 7950, now low fps and gpu usage

BS or no.... Doesn't particular matter who he is, he makes some valid points. I think his major point is: The november elections were not a vote FOR republican policies, they were a vote AGAINST democratic policies. He is also not the first to point this out. (nor do I think he is the third, or even the fourth.....) Multiple news organizations here in the states have said pretty much the same thing, and not all of them were simply mouthpieces for the conservative right. Try reading the message, disregard the messenger...... Try debating his points.

The turmoil is BECAUSE we stuck our noses where it didn't belong. That started with Bush. Supporting the Arab spring, and abandoning our one-time allies (Mubarak, for instance) simply gave the extremists the stage they needed. That was Obama. The 'brutal dictators' are what seems to be REQUIRED in that part of the world, to maintain some semblance of stability. Every country where the dictator has been ousted, has descended into sectarian civil war. IS is a natural result of all that. They saw an opportunity, and they took it. What's even more grating is, our own infrastructure is in rather sad shape, and apparently there is no money to remedy that, but, we can give away billions to other countries that hate us, to help rebuild THEIR infrastructure, and in some cases, once rebuilt, it is either stolen, destroyed again, or simply abandoned, because the US had their hand in it, so it is somehow 'tainted'. The US needs to seriously re-think its foreign policy.... what we are doing now sure as hell isn't working.

Politicians will spin the worst election results to make them look good, regardless of what the truth is. (and as we all know, it appears that it is physically impossible for ANY politician to operate within the confines of the truth in any event, regardless of party affiliation.) That Obama has spun this as NOT a statement against his policies, really doesn't come as a surprise.... he is to0 arrogant, and egotistical to see it any other way. Reading the comments on various news sites, it absolutely amazes me that some of the things he wants to do, supposedly 'with the support of the american people', absolutely is NOT the case. When he was claiming "the majority of people support immigration reform", (implying HIS version) 100% of the comments on articles of that nature said exactly the opposite. And that was the case from news organizations from BOTH sides. But, since congress isn't going to be precisely cooperative with him on that score..... he is trying to make an end run around them, by exercising his 'executive order' powers. Pretty much granting amnesty to millions of law-breakers. (illegal aliens) NOT what the american people want. But then, when has ANY administration actually done what their constituents want in the last couple decades? Even the supreme court doesn't seem to care about the constitution, and ALL MEN'S rights. (corporations are NOT people.) Oh well. The country is continuing to go to hell in a handbasket, and I really don't expect that the next administration will do much different in the areas where it matters. I don't see the american people getting up-in-arms about it though. We have become far to complacent to actually expend some effort to get things to change.

And those areas you mentioned were uninhabitable previously, throughout history, (unless you go back far enough that those landmasses were closer to the equator.... but, mankind was even a twinkly in some mammals eye at that point.) so that particular argument is meaningless. Of course, there was a time when the Sahara was lush forestland too....... but, the Earth was warmer then..... Everyone looks at global warming as a disaster. That isn't necessarily the case. Longer growing seasons, expanded arable areas, and a selection of other benefits would go along with a warmer climate. Michigan could become tropical again. That really wouldn't hurt my feelings. But, by the time that happens, I will be long dead.

Mod Organizer not getting downloads from Nexus?
HeyYou replied to oStarZ's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I don't use either. So, am somewhat less than familiar with MO. But, reading the description, it appears that it *should* work..... I did see this note though: Nexus has again locked out older versions of NMM from connecting to Nexus and MO is affected as collateral damage. You can fix this by going to settings->workarounds and enter 0.52.2 as the NMM Version. have you made that adjustment?- 5 replies

So what is your point? The CO2 levels are highest they have been since humans have been around? ok, So what? That does not prove anything. CO2 levels have been significantly higher in the past, and the earth was still quite habitable. I would also point out that humans have been around for just slightly longer than an eyeblink of time, as far as geological history is concerned. CO2 levels have fluctuated dramatically, just in the last 300 million years or so. The fact that they are increasing again now does nothing to prove your case for global warming. And here I am again....... preaching to deaf ears....... I must have a masochistic streak a mile wide. :)

Um, No. Not even close. Look here.

And truth depends on lot on your perspective. There are a fair few folks out there in the world (scientists), that disagree with the whole global warming thing. The temp has risen a little over a degree in 150 years. it's not like that has never happened before. Look at historical data. (and I am NOT talking just the last 150 years or so that we have been keeping track.) The time frame the global warmists keep screaming about is not even an eyeblink in the overall scheme of things. But, not like I am going to change your mind, nor are you going to change mine. You will just keep marching out with the same tired points, some of which have already been debunked, (and I am not referring to these forums here....) and you will never realize the truth. So, I am going to just leave this one go. You can even have the last word. Hi Granny! Nice to see you again! :D

Cats don't want to take over the world. They already have it good. They have their humans very well trained. If we were gone, they would actually have to expend some effort to eat, and no one would be around to scratch their ears and such. :)

Who is going to inherit the earth when humans have managed to make themselves extinct? :D

I am going to say "in opposition", for the same reasons Legotrash sites. Seems even our schools are teaching conformity.......

The earth is currently inhabitable. Our mere presence here proves that. The word you are looking for is UNinhabitable. You know, no one can live here. And on that note, you seriously overestimate the effects of climate change. Many species survived an ice age. Granted, with a seriously depleted population, but, in all reality, would that REALLY be such a bad thing? The biggest part of our problem here is excess population. Trimming off a few billions would solve several problems at one, including CO2 production. China's economy is already on track to exceed ours in the next few years. (if it hasn't already) My concern is making that gap MUCH larger. Do you think that carbon controls are going to HELP our economy? Do you think our economy is currently 'in good shape'? What effects do you think a carbon tax is going to have on the jobs situation here, when there will be many third world countries (which we have free trade agreements with...) that have none, and would be happy to have the jobs? Have a very close look at what China is doing NOW, when they are still at somewhat of a military disadvantage to us. Do you think they will become less aggressive with their expansionist policies once they have the upper hand, and see us basically on our knees, due to lack of funding? Do you think they would pass up that opportunity to gobble up some more territory, and better their position on the world stage, if they know the US isn't really in a position to stop them? But, all that aside. Have you noticed the scientists stating flatly that even if we stopped producing CO2 COMPLETELY TODAY, the temp would still continue to rise? Self-perpetuating cycle anyone? The climate is a gigantic system, that has a momentum all its own. Once it starts down a path, it is extremely difficult to get it to change. (which is why most glacial periods are measured in thousands of years......) Even if we COULD make a difference, a fair few folks in the global warming crowd feel it is already 'too late'. Personally, I find it absolutely hilarious that some people actually believe we can "stop" global warming. If the climate decides it wants to change, there is not a damn thing we can do, that will make the slightest difference. In the overall scheme of things, we simply do not matter that much.

How does it make sense to trash our economy, in order to 'save the planet', when we know very well what the results would be? Do you think resource wars, and things of that nature would be 'better' than the climate changing? My point is, yes, the climate DOES change. It WILL change, regardless of what we do. Oceans rise and fall regardless of the activities of man. Ice ages come and go regardless of even the presence of man. The climate changing may make it uncomfortable, and reduce the amount of population that the earth will support, but, a nuclear war would have FAR more drastic effects than even another ice age. Also, it doesn't really matter much what we here in the states do. Unless EVERYONE makes an effort, no one elses effort will amount to a hill of beans. Given the current state of international affairs, you are going to have zero luck getting places like China, Russia, and India on board. Especially if it is going to have even the slightest negative effect on THEIR economy. So, should the US 'go it alone', and have even more of our jobs flee the country? Let China continue their double digit economic growth, which they sink into their military? What do you think is going to happen when China no longer fears the US military? Or Russia? Our government is surviving on borrowed money NOW. Reduce the economy even a little bit, and that gets MUCH worse. Shall we cut social programs in order to continue to fund our military? (and if you do, you are going to NEED the military right here at home.....) The climate HAS gone thru rapid shifts in the past as well, due to a variety of causes. (orbital cycles, tectonic activity, etc.) It has also been shown in certain studies that CO2 content FOLLOWED temp change, not led it. (an effect, not a cause.) For the last 15 years, temp has not appreciably increased, even though CO2 content has continued to rise at a pretty respectable rate. Kinda shoots holes in the cause and effect theory there, now doesn't it.
