@Falconus: I came here to say the same thing, WFTO looks really promising and I hope all the old Dungeon Keeper fans find it.

ScriptSyntaX, if your problem is that your "Snipers Suck Major Balls" the easiest fix would be not to put any majors in the same team

Yup. Every wise man knows he's building on the work of others, without his predecessors he'd still be banging two rocks together. But this is the internet so I'll give him the benefit of a doubt, maybe he's just not good with people or can't express himself. I just wait for the day we get all the tools to get a total conversion going. Sadly, I don't have the brains to help create them, so I just use this time to model.

Lol, I like how he answered you "Sorry?" You should really go and answer him with "Ok, I forgive you." or something. But really, I don't know which is Gildor's problem, is he really a dick or is it just that he's russian and doesn't speak good english.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this :)

I was thinking that maybe the sounds could be given a walkie-talkie feel, if the sounds aren't clear it would be harder to immediately recognize differences.
-
And what about hidden ufos? Anything might be wrong unless it's 100% user-created. So it's not in Nexus' best interest to host mods that enable DLC-content, I get that, but removing a forum post where someone describes how to do it would be overreaction.

Do all edits to XComStrategyGame.int work?
kayttaja replied to BanjoOz's topic in XCOM's Enemy Unknown
Are you f'ing kidding me?! I've tried that before but ofcourse didn't have the brains to start a new game  Thanks for this, it made my life a lot easier. -
Do all edits to XComStrategyGame.int work?
kayttaja replied to BanjoOz's topic in XCOM's Enemy Unknown
Got it to work! At least in the mission loading screen the old US of A is now called ASD :) Copy Localization\INT and rename it DEU, then change Language=INT to DEU in DefaultEngine.ini I have to test this later but I'm pretty confident we could change countrynames etc. like this :) Two things: I also did this to My Games\XCOM\Localization so I don't know which one is read and haven't got the time to test now. Also, the game won't read saves made with different language :( I couldn't get this to work when language was INT, dunno if there's a workaround though :/ -
Do all edits to XComStrategyGame.int work?
kayttaja replied to BanjoOz's topic in XCOM's Enemy Unknown
I've tried it with no luck. One thing I'd suggest is trying to edit a different language file and changing the game language, maybe the game uses XComStrategyGame.int only when the language isn't "INT"? -
True. For example TVShack founder Richard O'Dwyer who's in danger of being extradited to US even though he's a british citizen and never broke any british laws. For god's sake, the last time he was in US was when he was 5! We live in a sick world where the laws can't be trusted when money's involved. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/aug/08/richard-odwyer-leaked-memo-hollywood-lobbying http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/ukhomeoffice-stop-the-extradition-of-richard-o-dwyer-to-the-usa-saverichard http://juliasblog-the-fight-of-our-lives.blogspot.fi/ Still, I wish to believe that if a company like Firaxis or 2K started to sue people for modding their own games, their sales would bomb and it'd be a financial suicide. Companies need to understand that not everything goes.

Your wait has ended fellow nord :) http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/814177-character-stat-editor/ Still waiting for being able to replace that damn Sweden with Finland

Road laws and car company's rights are two different things, you don't make a copyright infringement by buying a dvd and stabbing someone with it. If a person buys a movie he should be able to cut a different version of it if he wants to, he's not breaking any laws by doing it unless he decides to upload it somewhere. Same goes here, I'm not breaking any laws if I tell someone how he can enable all the content he was given when he bought the game as long as I don't provide him with the game files. If enabling content that was disabled in a game is wrong, mods that enable stopping UFO's on mission are also "illegal" and basically all .ini modding should be banned since we can't know whether those changes are future DLC content. If I buy a game and the company for unknown reasons decide to give me extra content for free it's their mistake, not mine.
-
Think of it like this: You just bought a car, you got the cheaper model even though you knew the more expensive model is more powerful. One day you find a simple switch under the hood saying "Extra power". Are you a criminal if you turn the switch? If a company sells people games that include content that can be enabled with a "turn of a switch" it's their problem. Don't want people to have the content? Don't give them the code. Make it ***DOWNLOADABLE*** content.

We won't negotiate with DLC-terrorists! :pirate: Exactly. But who's to blame, those who do it or those who allow it? I believe they can, without much more trouble than for the process above. I'm not going to get into more detail... I found a few lines in XComContent.ini that point to something like that, without going into more detail... ;) Edit: FFS, this is available everywhere. Go read this and enjoy your DLC, it's not like I care: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=98553.msg3705506#msg3705506 Edit2: in My Games\XCOM - Enemy Unknown\XComGame\Localization\INT\XComStrategyGame.int [XGCustomizeUI] m_strFirstNameButton=FIRST NAME m_strLastNameButton=LAST NAME m_strNickNameButton=NICKNAME m_strCountrySpinner=COUNTRY m_strRaceSpinner=RACE m_strVoiceSpinner=VOICE m_strAttitudeSpinner=ATTITUDE m_strHeadSpinner=HEAD m_strSkinColorSpinner=SKIN COLOR m_strHairSpinner=HAIR/HELMET m_strHairColorSpinner=HAIR COLOR m_strFacialHairSpinner=FACIAL HAIR m_strArmorDecalSpinner=ARMOR DECO m_strArmorTintSpinner=ARMOR TINT m_strNoDecoAvailableForThisArmor=NOT AVAILABLE m_strLabelFirstName=First Name m_strLabelFirstNameHelp=Enter the unit's First Name m_strLabelLastName=Last Name m_strLabelLastNameHelp=Enter the unit's Last Name m_strLabelNickname=Nickname m_strLabelNicknameHelp=Enter the unit's Nickname m_strLabelCustomizeName=Customize Name m_strLabelCustFirstName=Customize First Name m_strLabelCustFirstNameHelp=Customize this soldier's first name. m_strLabelCustLastName=Customize Last Name m_strLabelCustLastNameHelp=Customize this soldier's last name. m_strLabelCustNickname=Customize Nickname m_strLabelCustNicknameHelp=Customize this soldier's nickname. m_strErrEarnNicknameFirst=You have to earn a nickname first! m_strEasterEggTitle=Bring forth an XCOM hero? m_strEasterEggBody=If you summon an XCOM hero, achievements will be disabled for the rest of the game. m_strEasterEggBodyPS3=If you summon an XCOM hero, trophies will be disabled for the rest of the game. m_strEasterEggOK=Summon Hero m_strEasterEggCancel=Nevermind SuperSoldierFirstNames[0]=Sid SuperSoldierLastNames[0]=Meier SuperSoldierFirstNames[1]=Ken SuperSoldierLastNames[1]=Levine SuperSoldierFirstNames[2]=Joe SuperSoldierLastNames[2]=Kelly SuperSoldierFirstNames[3]=Otto SuperSoldierLastNames[3]=Zander m_strAttitudeProfessional=PROFESSIONAL m_strAttitudeBrash=BRASH So it seems it would be possible to make even changing nickname & nationality available, not to mention some "easter egg-super soldiers"? 1. Trying to rip 5$ from users for something already in the game is BS. 2. Multiplayer is useless, so if people really wanted this without paying, and you couldn't mod it, they'd pirate it. 3. This was achieved by changing two booleans in a .ini file, if they really wanted to stop people from doing this they would've hidden this better.

Using localization content for diversity

XCOM EU Skill points, alien corpses and permanent grid
kayttaja replied to Yiahimyr's topic in XCOM's Mod Ideas
I wouldn't want to be able to change their skills myself. I like to enable the Second Wave option "Not created equal" though, it makes rookies starting skills random. I also enable the "Hidden potential" since it makes the skill raises random on level up. -
Sorry, I explained myself poorly. I meant that if you equip your soldier with implants, he might have momentary freak outs if he "lost too much humanity" like in cyberpunk. I just realized this can easily be achieved by giving a negative willbonus. A good idea thought! I still need to to test the robotic property, I deleted my saves earlier and need to play 'til I get carapace armors, apparently the game registers these changes only when you apply the armor, even adding ap's like grapple didn't work  Edit: As far as I can tell, eCP_ properties don't work in armors, I tried them out with no luck. But hey, thanks to the bright minds here it seems we'll be able to change just about anything soon :)
-
XCOM EU Is it possible to change how you get reduced will?
kayttaja replied to OddballE8's topic in XCOM's Mod Ideas
Dunno, maybe this could be made random? If a guy gets shot and almost dies he might get traumatized really badly, depends on person I guess. -
Will do :) EXACTLY. It'd be damn sweet if in the future we could make cyborg implant items and maybe somehow make a cyborg soldier panic randomly if his will is too low :)
-
Dammit, I'll have to check on this, thanks for the info!
-
Could the robotic property be added into an armor instead of soldier so you could choose which guys are cyborgs?
-
Cool, you think this could be used to change the flags?
-
No problem :) Oh, and here's Xionanx's insanely helpful list for EVERYTHING: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/808409-compiled-list-of-defaultgamecoreini-settings-and-their-funtions/
