  1. Hey, So I dug out this neat mod by Mérong, Zar'roc, Morzan's / Brom's / Eragon's sword from the movie in my mods folder, https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23174 and I can't help but being annoyed at the lack of faithfulness in the textures compared to the movie prop and real life replica. It's wrong all over the place: the sheath is reddish brown when it should be black; the fittings on it clearly lack the metallick shine they should have; the hilt grip should be glossy black leather and the metal fitting above the pommel, well does not appear to be metal at all and it's way too bulky. THIS https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/inheritance/images/d/dc/Zar%27roc_.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100330194058 is what the real sword looks like. THIS https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/101/images/23174-1-1237128171.jpg is what Mérong did. Some might be happy with a "Close enough.", not me. Although I love that sword Mérong did, I like accuracy as well, and the reddish sheath really bugs me everytime I look at it, it's really the contrary of discrete, and once the sword is drawn, it's too much red on player character for my taste. So I got to thinking, eventually, that maybe a retexturing was in order. I tried to ask the author and never got an answer. I tried to do it myself too, but I can't figure out how to go about converting the texture files to workable images for GIMP. So here I am, asking if anyone could either do it or walk me through it. PS: additionally, if someone wants to make an alternative, book friendly version, with the pommel fitted with a ruby as it should be, you have my blessing.
  2. Maybe I was bad mooded and I was harsh at that time I'll admit it. My bad. Tho it is not "my idea of what the mod should be" here. It's downright fake advertisement. If you see something like this in my country, you are even entitled to sue the involved company. I reproach him for claiming that he made the Colada when it is not in the mod and he does know it. I'll just slide on the two-handed/one-handed part as I can easily address that myself in the CS. I did already. As for the textures, he showed that he CAN do it, as the sword in this mod has a nigh perfect steel look blade and antiquated bronze hilt, guard, and pommel. On the contrary the swords he made in his other mod look like chewed paper, painted wet clay, polystyrene or God knows what. So maybe it's only in this country I live in, but according to all of my former teachers, when someone has clearly shown being able to do something and decides not to do it despite possessing the skills, it's called sloth. They all agreed on this point.
  3. Hi, everyone! I decided to use Sangre's (him again, yeah) Tizona and Colada and I was yet again disapointed. La Tizona and La Colada are, like everyone who likes swords has to know, the two swords once possessed by Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar otherwise known after the title the Moors gave him: Al Sidi, converted to El Cid Campeador by the Spanish people of his time. Mr. Sangre took upon him to bring those two fabulous blades to OBLIVION for our greatest enjoyment, and that's good; however he messed up big time and THAT is no good: first thing, BOTH swords are ONE-HANDED, not one of them is a mandoble as he seems to believe it. Secondly, he just made TWO versions of the Tizona, one and two handed, calling the latter "Colada". What gives? Ignorance, laziness, or just plain old carelessness, whatever his reason is, he can't tell he didn't know what he was doing. He himself posted a crapton of pictures of the true Colada, so he did know what it actually looks like. Beside with a name like "Sangre" ('blood' in Spanish) mistaking La Tizona for La Colada, he'd just shame all of the Iberian community all over the world and their History. So if someone actually knows what this sword is meant to look like it would be great if they could yet again correct the mess made by Sangre and bring the REAL La Colada to Oblivion. Addendum: That's twice already counting his catastrophic textures for Mount And Blade: One Hundred Years War's swords that Sangre's mod find need to be retouched. So if he comes to read this post, I highly suggest he quit rushing his mods and take some time to look closely at what he's done to correct his own mistakes before releasing erratic works that need to be worked over by the community in order to be satisfactory/faithful. That's really a pity since of the two swords, according to me, La Colada is the most beautiful, not depreciating La Tizona. The incriminated mod http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23621/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23621%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D114081&pUp=1 and a picture of the actual La Colada http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/C000503.htm and a less sophisticated version, more common http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/cid-campeador.htm
  4. Hello all, behind this strange(?) title lies an unsettling issue I met with a mod I downloaded from Planet Elder Scrolls recently. Here is the matter: I downloaded and installed BBear and Disturbed's Rohan Swords 1.1 Thanks. PS: Forgot to mention that the author BBear gave his okay to any use of his works provided credit is given where it's due and he's kept informed about where his work is used if you so choose to publish it.
  5. True. Boromir's is in this mod, if you are refering, as I think you are, to Weapons of The Heroes mod, which includes many weapons from LoTR, but Faramir's is not.
  6. It's just my humble opinion, but I find that Oblivion lacks cruelly fencing swords from 16th-17th Centuries so I'd like to submit these to your attention. The fifth and sixth from the right are not rapiers obviously, but respectively an italian Schiavona and a scottish basket hilt sword. I love both
  7. Nice, bro. Good work
  8. Hey yo guys. I take the chance to submit a set of swords that are in DIRE NEED of a good re-texturing. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23371/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23371%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D111337&pUp=1 Originally made by Sangre, ripped from Mount And Blade; the author has been told many times over that these were no good as is, but he didn't give comments the light of the day. As you can see, although these swords are nice and historical, they hardly look like they are made of steel, iron, in short, of METAL. Instead they look like plastic, polystyrene, or clay replica. So much you can hardly make out a differnce between some of them, the great majority of the hilts being merely gray, just like the guard (and the blade *sigh*) :ohdear:
  9. Yup, yup. Looks quite promising so far. This says, if you can clearly picture what I am looking for yourself, don't hold back and feel free to add your own touch. Might very well fall on the right shade of bronze/gold/steel/brass wanted here. Even if you come with other ideas; the goal here being adding as many realistic variants of the swords as possible, so that at least 4 chars can use the same one, without really having the exact same sword, which is too often seen in games and makes it boring.
  10. Well, don't you go trying to overdo your own skills  if thou cannot, then thou cannot. I shan't ask of thee the impossible. Someone else might actually be more seasoned than you are at this, no shame here. What doth matter is than you tried. I am fully aware that what I asked was not essentially an easy task, so I was not expecting a miracle either ;D Most importantly, thank you for trying to comply.
  11. Nice lookalike you churned out here. Less some small details at the level of the hilt and pommel, maybe the blade fitting at the base too, that's but the closest I've seen to this day. Good work  wiil this work for The KOHSword http://i.imgur.com/cSNS53r.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r5hpxS1.jpg
  12. mhahn123, that'd be nice if you actually could do that. As for the SS you snapped ElderScrollsFan001, That's about it it. Now make it a bit brownish for bronze finish, a little more dim for old gold, and whiteish for a lite brass finish and you're there.
  13. Hello, I chanced upon this great resource on the Oblivion Nexus and I'd like to request for someone skilled in texturing to decline these swords in old gold, brass, and light copper, and, why not? golden bronze finish? I'd do it myself if I were more seasoned and moreover if I had the needed material for. It's a free use resource since the author, left Oblivion for Skyrim, this mod unfinished, allowing anyone to use it provided they would give credits you know the rest... Here's the mod in question http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40660/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D40660%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D443659&pUp=1 These swords are great but there are not enough (not any) choice as for the metal finish of the crossgards and pommels yet.
  14. I finally found this one I had been searching for years. This one is first wielded by master swordsman Graham Ashe previous to his demise at the hands of Haresh Clay, then handed down to Richard Ryan by Duncan MacLeaod to replace the broken clamshell rapier. Enjoy. It's a simple yet sophisticated sword, although not myself a fan of overly long European blades, I find this one quite elegant and appealing.
  15. Hiya! New addition to my already furnished list of want-to-see-created swords: the Garcia de Paredes Broadsword . Since the first time I saw Axel Whittaker flourishing one of these, I fell in love. That's an impressive greatsword, the two rings on each face of the guard make it look awesomely elegant and refined for its size. Even better outfited with a red/burgundy velvet lined handle wrap.
