  1. Hey, So I dug out this neat mod by Mérong, Zar'roc, Morzan's / Brom's / Eragon's sword from the movie in my mods folder, https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23174 and I can't help but being annoyed at the lack of faithfulness in the textures compared to the movie prop and real life replica. It's wrong all over the place: the sheath is reddish brown when it should be black; the fittings on it clearly lack the metallick shine they should have; the hilt grip should be glossy black leather and the metal fitting above the pommel, well does not appear to be metal at all and it's way too bulky. THIS https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/inheritance/images/d/dc/Zar%27roc_.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100330194058 is what the real sword looks like. THIS https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/101/images/23174-1-1237128171.jpg is what Mérong did. Some might be happy with a "Close enough.", not me. Although I love that sword Mérong did, I like accuracy as well, and the reddish sheath really bugs me everytime I look at it, it's really the contrary of discrete, and once the sword is drawn, it's too much red on player character for my taste. So I got to thinking, eventually, that maybe a retexturing was in order. I tried to ask the author and never got an answer. I tried to do it myself too, but I can't figure out how to go about converting the texture files to workable images for GIMP. So here I am, asking if anyone could either do it or walk me through it. PS: additionally, if someone wants to make an alternative, book friendly version, with the pommel fitted with a ruby as it should be, you have my blessing.
  2. Maybe I was bad mooded and I was harsh at that time I'll admit it. My bad. Tho it is not "my idea of what the mod should be" here. It's downright fake advertisement. If you see something like this in my country, you are even entitled to sue the involved company. I reproach him for claiming that he made the Colada when it is not in the mod and he does know it. I'll just slide on the two-handed/one-handed part as I can easily address that myself in the CS. I did already. As for the textures, he showed that he CAN do it, as the sword in this mod has a nigh perfect steel look blade and antiquated bronze hilt, guard, and pommel. On the contrary the swords he made in his other mod look like chewed paper, painted wet clay, polystyrene or God knows what. So maybe it's only in this country I live in, but according to all of my former teachers, when someone has clearly shown being able to do something and decides not to do it despite possessing the skills, it's called sloth. They all agreed on this point.
  3. Hi, everyone! I decided to use Sangre's (him again, yeah) Tizona and Colada and I was yet again disapointed. La Tizona and La Colada are, like everyone who likes swords has to know, the two swords once possessed by Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar otherwise known after the title the Moors gave him: Al Sidi, converted to El Cid Campeador by the Spanish people of his time. Mr. Sangre took upon him to bring those two fabulous blades to OBLIVION for our greatest enjoyment, and that's good; however he messed up big time and THAT is no good: first thing, BOTH swords are ONE-HANDED, not one of them is a mandoble as he seems to believe it. Secondly, he just made TWO versions of the Tizona, one and two handed, calling the latter "Colada". What gives? Ignorance, laziness, or just plain old carelessness, whatever his reason is, he can't tell he didn't know what he was doing. He himself posted a crapton of pictures of the true Colada, so he did know what it actually looks like. Beside with a name like "Sangre" ('blood' in Spanish) mistaking La Tizona for La Colada, he'd just shame all of the Iberian community all over the world and their History. So if someone actually knows what this sword is meant to look like it would be great if they could yet again correct the mess made by Sangre and bring the REAL La Colada to Oblivion. Addendum: That's twice already counting his catastrophic textures for Mount And Blade: One Hundred Years War's swords that Sangre's mod find need to be retouched. So if he comes to read this post, I highly suggest he quit rushing his mods and take some time to look closely at what he's done to correct his own mistakes before releasing erratic works that need to be worked over by the community in order to be satisfactory/faithful. That's really a pity since of the two swords, according to me, La Colada is the most beautiful, not depreciating La Tizona. The incriminated mod http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23621/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23621%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D114081&pUp=1 and a picture of the actual La Colada http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/C000503.htm and a less sophisticated version, more common http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/cid-campeador.htm
  4. Hello all, behind this strange(?) title lies an unsettling issue I met with a mod I downloaded from Planet Elder Scrolls recently. Here is the matter: I downloaded and installed BBear and Disturbed's Rohan Swords 1.1 Thanks. PS: Forgot to mention that the author BBear gave his okay to any use of his works provided credit is given where it's due and he's kept informed about where his work is used if you so choose to publish it.
  5. True. Boromir's is in this mod, if you are refering, as I think you are, to Weapons of The Heroes mod, which includes many weapons from LoTR, but Faramir's is not.
  6. It's just my humble opinion, but I find that Oblivion lacks cruelly fencing swords from 16th-17th Centuries so I'd like to submit these to your attention. The fifth and sixth from the right are not rapiers obviously, but respectively an italian Schiavona and a scottish basket hilt sword. I love both
  7. Nice, bro. Good work
  8. Hey yo guys. I take the chance to submit a set of swords that are in DIRE NEED of a good re-texturing. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23371/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23371%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D111337&pUp=1 Originally made by Sangre, ripped from Mount And Blade; the author has been told many times over that these were no good as is, but he didn't give comments the light of the day. As you can see, although these swords are nice and historical, they hardly look like they are made of steel, iron, in short, of METAL. Instead they look like plastic, polystyrene, or clay replica. So much you can hardly make out a differnce between some of them, the great majority of the hilts being merely gray, just like the guard (and the blade *sigh*) :ohdear:
  9. Yup, yup. Looks quite promising so far. This says, if you can clearly picture what I am looking for yourself, don't hold back and feel free to add your own touch. Might very well fall on the right shade of bronze/gold/steel/brass wanted here. Even if you come with other ideas; the goal here being adding as many realistic variants of the swords as possible, so that at least 4 chars can use the same one, without really having the exact same sword, which is too often seen in games and makes it boring.
  10. Well, don't you go trying to overdo your own skills  if thou cannot, then thou cannot. I shan't ask of thee the impossible. Someone else might actually be more seasoned than you are at this, no shame here. What doth matter is than you tried. I am fully aware that what I asked was not essentially an easy task, so I was not expecting a miracle either ;D Most importantly, thank you for trying to comply.
  11. Nice lookalike you churned out here. Less some small details at the level of the hilt and pommel, maybe the blade fitting at the base too, that's but the closest I've seen to this day. Good work  wiil this work for The KOHSword http://i.imgur.com/cSNS53r.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r5hpxS1.jpg
  12. mhahn123, that'd be nice if you actually could do that. As for the SS you snapped ElderScrollsFan001, That's about it it. Now make it a bit brownish for bronze finish, a little more dim for old gold, and whiteish for a lite brass finish and you're there.
  13. Hello, I chanced upon this great resource on the Oblivion Nexus and I'd like to request for someone skilled in texturing to decline these swords in old gold, brass, and light copper, and, why not? golden bronze finish? I'd do it myself if I were more seasoned and moreover if I had the needed material for. It's a free use resource since the author, left Oblivion for Skyrim, this mod unfinished, allowing anyone to use it provided they would give credits you know the rest... Here's the mod in question http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40660/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D40660%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D443659&pUp=1 These swords are great but there are not enough (not any) choice as for the metal finish of the crossgards and pommels yet.
  14. I finally found this one I had been searching for years. This one is first wielded by master swordsman Graham Ashe previous to his demise at the hands of Haresh Clay, then handed down to Richard Ryan by Duncan MacLeaod to replace the broken clamshell rapier. Enjoy. It's a simple yet sophisticated sword, although not myself a fan of overly long European blades, I find this one quite elegant and appealing.
  15. Hiya! New addition to my already furnished list of want-to-see-created swords: the Garcia de Paredes Broadsword . Since the first time I saw Axel Whittaker flourishing one of these, I fell in love. That's an impressive greatsword, the two rings on each face of the guard make it look awesomely elegant and refined for its size. Even better outfited with a red/burgundy velvet lined handle wrap.
  16. やったぜ!! Ifound it! A pic of the true Joyeuse by Marto. It's quite different and, IMHO, much better looking than the one I posted first as a make-do. Still it's too b(ig)eautiful for this site to handle so I will just link to it, with regrets, as I'd love seeing it here, in all its glory, as it really IS a sword fit for an Emperor. http://www.swordskingdom.com/marto-charlemagne-sword-replica.html More movies/TV swords that should not go unnoticed:; still in KoH, the Sword of Jerusalem, which is gorgeous, can be found on the same site: http://www.swordskingdom.com/kingdom-of-heaven--sword-of-the-king-of-jerusalem.html; another sword everyone remembers or should remember: Peter Pevensie's sword, from The Chronicles of Narnia: http://www.swordskingdom.com/sword-of-prince-nrinia.html; and lastly for today, in the same animal-styled pommel fashion, The famous as much as gorgeous Longclaw, wielded by Game of Thrones' Jon Snow:
  17. It would be nice indeed if another (maybe more) sword enthusiasts would work on bringing those legendary and historical works of art to Oblivion. ! found another one that deserves to be noticed: it's the Crusader Reeve's sword.
  18. Hi there~ Coming in for report. First, I hope your week was good. Mine ended in a fancy way, despite my gaming issue, I had a nice Sunday. Back to our sheeps: I tried making a new toon then walking her to Bruma as you suggested, and the result was without appeal: I froze in the whereabouts of Bruma still. Turns out my biggest fear is but nigh from becoming real and I might have to uninstall all my Load Order and start afresh with maybe another toon in the case this one goes unusable. The suppression of one or more mods seems to be a given at this point, since some bug is messing with the game's engine here. I need to spot it and eradicate it...
  19. Then it sounds to me like you have either an issue with corrupt data in your save game (more than likely), or possibly OC related (compatibility? bad Bashed Patch? other reason/s?) To check if it is your save game, start a new game from scratch and when you exit the sewers, forget everything else and travel straight north to Bruma. I suggest you walk there rather than coc or fast travel. Save your new troubleshooting game in a clean slot, and save before you go north of the Roxey inn, because you're still level 1! If it still freezes with a new save game -- don't be tempted to load a previous save, start afresh -- then you need to look deeper at your load order. Okay I will try that then. And as for being Lv one, that shouldn't being that big of an hinderance, given I shamelessly use Tempo's Jewelry as well as TheMikado's Ring of Grace to boost my lowbies on each game. BTW, I forgot to mention that my last failed attempt ocurred after I disabled Better Cities.esm in my Load Order.
  20. Marto Toledo has indeed an Hercules the series sword, as well as Xena I think. Their Excalibur comes in 5 flavours: Gold/Silver; Silver/Gold, Enamel (gold paint); Silver, and Bronze which is my personal favorite; it gives the sword the olden look that a sword dating from the 5th Century should have, even after being restored. The Black and Gold version you are talking about is the Enamel one. It's beautoful; but a bit too "yellowish" to be natural even for gold, besides being fragile, as the enamel paint is easily cracked if you're not cautious. I forgot to mention this one, for a Templar sword: Robert of Locksley from Robin Hood movie, by Ridley Scott, starring Russell Crowe. I think it's worth. It's Simple yet beautiful, beautiful by its simplicity I'd say. The lema " Rise and rise again, till lambs become lions" is striking. About as much as the "SIGILLVM MILITVM XPISTI" / "NON NOBIS, DOMINE, NON NOBIS, SED TUO NOMINI DA GLORIAM" on the Templars' weapons. I like this one I stumbled upon. The pommel is very beautiful, don't you think? And more interpretations of Robin Hood's sword, as well as one of my all-time favorite: Charlemagne's Joyeuse, because, heh, I am French
  21. Turns out it wasn't the Father's Sword that was guilty, but plain Bruma that's gone corrupt for God knows what reasons... When I come in sight of the rampart, the game freezes without warning, so I need to restore the city to its vanilla state I think. Any clue about how to do it? restoring Bruma only without touching anything else that is.
  22. Yo!~ Coming in for the report. Well after cutting off on a few mods that I decided I didn't absolutely want, I got down below Oblivion's 255 files threshold, and I think I managed to get closer to the damn Gate than ever before. Still freezing at the exact same point tho. Do you think that a certain sword that I picked from a certain undercroft in a certain chapel in Anvil could be responsible for this mess? I remember the exact same sword wrecking havoc in my game whenever I tried to load a save after getting it from the Great Chapel of Dibella. I am talking about the Father's Sword from Conan Swords mod, by caldurham, after the models made by Walx http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/14111//? When I tried going from Anvil to Kvatch I would systematically freeze at the same point between Gottshaw and Kvatch encampment. I then found out that this did not happen without the sword in my inventory. Now said sword is stored inside a cupboard in my Even Gardens Loft, but maybe it is that messy...
  23. Aye, aye  I know about theMackie's work; actually I am myself running it as my all-purpose blade. Just thought that Marto Toledo's "Grabado Profundo" (understand Deep Carving) was a charming sight to behold and I'd share it here for the sake of the art. The idea of the quest to obtain it might be a good idea though; always thought it was a bit far fetched just buying it from Urbulg Gro-Orkulg and that's it. The One's holy sword might want to be deserved and earned instead of merely purchased. I'll look into this, hoping it will still update it's power every 5, 10, 15, 20~25 Levels still, Because having to wait Lv100 to get the strongest version of the sword doesn't appeal to me. Besides there already IS a sword that the Nine Divines bestow their Chosen One with; wouldn't throwing in another one be a little too much. I feel like that would , like, totally dwarf the importance of the Crusader's sword? This says, I don't know where he got the model for his Excalibur, but it's nearly the same as Marto's. You can clearly see the 2 dragons on each quillon of the crossguard and even the chimaeras; the thing that differs is the pommel which depicts a dragon on theMackie's sword instead of 2 bucks. I always thought it lacked in luster too, but I supose it's only because it's supposed to be 600 years old, being restored as its power grows alongside yours and all. I am ALSO running Clive Owen's version by Crazy Lion ;D (I know, I know, "what does this guy ask then?")); also running RDjeke's mod for his Templar Sword and OMFG!! now, THAT's what I call Duncan MacLeod's katana! It's not the series version alright. This one is the one used in HIGHLANDER ENDGAME movie, that I talked about earlier. The difference is that this one is more alike Connor's, depicting a dragon's body unfurling from the fuchi (ring below the tsuba/guard) to the molded, dragon head-shaped, kashira (pommel) instead of sporting everyday life in medieval Japan, being finished by a distinct dragon headed still kashira affixed to the tsuka (hilt) by a copper joint. Well in both cases, both EXTR3M368 and Jannix Quinn half-assed on the tsuba design, which actually depicts two phoenixes. That's a shame I have the actual sword but no pics to upload. Now, I have one, thank you, Quick Cam 5000  The first picture is a bit blurry but that's the best I could get in close up, not willing to totally dismantle the katana in order to shoot the tsuba on a flat plane. But that shows the actual shape of the tsuba. I checked on the last link and indeed, that's the Robin Hood's sword I was talking about. The pic was just too big for the forum. It would be nice if it were to be ported to Oblivion indeed.
  24. Another one that could not fit in the previous post is Richie Ryan's prized 17th century rapier. And Kronos from the Four Horsemen.
  25. Me again. I thought I'd upload a few pics of the swords I talked about in the initial post, to give yall a clearer sight of what they might look like; so here:
