  1. I tried to explore the Courier Mile, but since I left my Radiation Suit in the Lucky 38, I had to run in, get the objective, run out again, go to Autodoc and then come back for the next objective. There are areas in the game I'd like to explore, but Radiation Exposure prevents me from doing so. I'd like to request an implant that can provide 100% Radiation Immunity that can be purchased from our favorite biotech Doctor Usagi (the one who runs the New Vegas clinic). Plus, I don't like to take off my Sneaky Stealth Suit, I feel like I make her sad each time I switch outfits!
  2. I am slowly working through the Sunset Sarsparilla Cap mission when I ran into an unusual roadblock while trying to go into the El Dorado substation: The Guards warn me not to go in and the door is marked in red (do not enter!). I checked it and regardless of allegiance, you will get shot if you try to enter the substation while it is guarded. Given that I obliterated the Legion in the name of the NCR, killed the Legion's supreme commander and his immediate replacement, won the war for them and executed Mr House for a bonus prize, it would be logical to assume they wouldn't mind me going anywhere, no matter how secure. Especially considering my Courier has the highest level of approval in the faction database from the NCR. Therefore I am requesting a mod that allows Couriers with high NCR loyalty to enter the substation openly without conflict. It would have to be triggered by something to do with NCR loyalty, most likely the approval rating.
  3. I'm trying to work on my first mod, but the incessant and frequent crashing of GECK is slowing down and mostly stopping the process altogether. So far, I've had this happen: 1. Crash when starting. 2. Crash when loading my mod. 3. Crash when editing NPC inventory. Since this is incredibly inconvenient, is there anything that can be done to stop GECK's inherent instability? I am using Windows 8.1 and a gaming PC with the latest components less then a month from the date of purchase.
  4. I am attempting to modify some NPCs for a mod I am attempting to create. I have created the base NPCs and am now working on finetuning them. I'm having problems posting screenshots, the forum keeps crashing when I try, so I'll have to describe the problems verbally. Character NPC: She is wearing the Combat Ranger Patrol armor. I wish to create a new version of this armor for her unit, remodel in a 3D editor and make it black. Also, I tried to make her Albino (like Ghost the NCR Sniper at Mojave Outpost), but while the coloration works in the GECK preview, it does not for the actual NPC or ingame. She is using the GRA katana and I wish her to use the modded black version, not the standard defauilt version. Is there a way to put the GRA mods in inventory and connect them to the katana she is carrying? Her stats have 15 Melee 48 Guns. I wish to reverse this so she has the appropriate skills for her weapon. Captain NPC: He is wearing the Armored MP (NCR) outfit, I want to make a new version of this in black too. I want these outfits to be completely new outfits so they don't change the models of the existing armors ingame (which are worn by many NCR NPCs). Lieutenant NPC: This is a bit more complicated, I want him to use the Ghost Seeker model (he is a Ghostperson). And preferably the Ghostperson melee combat animations, But he has to be labelled as a NCR soldier. Unit Soldiers: A generic soldier, wearing the black Combat Ranger Patrol armor as issued to the Character NPC. I tried to give them the NCR Combat helmet, but could not find it in the GECK. I'm uncertain if I need to create a new black version of this, as I could not see it in GECK yet. Is any of these things possible? And since I'm new to modding, as much and specific advice would be appreciated, as I have very little idea what I am doing.
  5. I installed Project Brazil and I did not expect it to overwrite all the loading screens and tooltips for those loading screens with it's own mod specific data. Does anyone know how I can return these loading screens to the default installation of New Vegas? I don't have the original unmodded installation anymore. I don't even know where to locate the old files to restore them anyway. Can anyone help me return the loading screens/menus to the default state?
  6. I finally found a program that allows me to run Steam (PC version) and by extension Fallout New Vegas on a MacOS. The program is called Play On Mac. I was able to copy my savegames to the program, but ran into a problem with the mods referenced by the savegame. Although I copied my directory exactly as is from the PC archive to the Steam Copy version, the game cannot find my mods. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it does not acknowledge my mods? It is partially aware of them, as when I press the button to view the PipBoy, all you see is the forearm of the Courier. This is because I have modded the PipBoy to a handheld unit (Readius). If you are unfamiliar with Play On Mac, it creates a virtual drive that emulates windows, so in theory, any fix that can be applied to a normal windows drive structure can be applied to this virtual drive. Disclaimer: Play On Mac uses a fully legal version of Steam that accesses my Steam Account/Purchased Games, so I am not using a pirated version of the game. I am using the fully legal version of Fallout: New Vegas I purchased on my official Steam account.
  7. I want to document my Courier build for future reference as a text file. Is there any tool that can read the data from a savegame and tell me what the Courier's build is? The Information I want is: SPECIAL stats. Skills stats. Perks obtained. Traits obtained.
  8. I thought most of the damage was to the shield array. This would mean that the rest of the systems should be relatively functional. But the real question would be, could Sally work out where the navigation controls are located? You'd have to know where they were and how to operate them to move the spaceship to a new location. And now for some counterpoints. The spaceship is in a fixed geophysical orbit in a band over America. This means that at some point during it's orbit, it would probably pass close enough to New Vegas and the Mojave. Also, keep in mind the spaceship doesn't actually have to be in proximity to the destination to send it's crew to that location. All it has to do is fire a teleportation beacon into the ground at a targeted location and it can send people back and forth from the ship. That system is known to Sally, because she uses it at the end of the DLC. Considering she is smart enough to work it properly, it should be child's play (pun intended!) to choose another location to shoot a beacon at. I assume the only limitation would be the number of beacons available, but I'm assuming the ship has enough in storage to set up a decent travel network.
  9. I've been having serious problems with my PC and it eventually broke down. Since the "solution" (note the Turian airquotes) involved erasing the primary boot drive, I just wasn't in the mood to do a complete reinstall of my system, especially since it would require me to purchase the latest version of windows (because the old one no longer functions with newer games). But I still wish to play Fallout New Vegas. I've been doing some investigating on this topic and apparently, it is possible. But so far, I haven't managed to find a way to do it properly. The number 1 proposal has to be use Wineskin or Winewrapper, but I can't wrap my head around the technical process to get them to work. Before my PC took a nosedive into silicon based oblivion, I made sure to do a complete backup of the Fallout New Vegas folder and all the associated mods with it. And for the record, that is a legally purchased copy. What I am looking for is a simple way to boot up the programs inside this folder without having to do something overly complicated. I primarily want to run the game itself and have it use the installed mods (because my savegames won't work without them!). Hopefully I'd also find ways to use FOMM and GECK as well, but not sure if that is possible. Basically, I just want a program to access the FNV exe program and boot it in mac. Something quick, simple and easy to use whenever I want. Please let me know if there is a way to do this. Or alternatively, if it isn't possible, I'd appreciate knowing that too, so I can stop trying something that ultimately cannot be done. Oh, and please don't mention Bootcamp. I've been down that road and it never works. Especially since it makes you use windows and I don't want to do that again! Plus, I'm getting rather annoyed that 97% of the responses to this problem is some PC user who's never touched a mac in their life always invevitably thinks Bootcamp is the magic solution!
  10. I think the silos were fully functional, as you open the launch bay doors on one of them yourself about halfway through and accidentally launch the missile by doing so. And later on, you have the option of launching a massive strike against the side that offends you most (I chose the Legion). There is also some information about advanced technology somewhere in the Divide, as it scans ED-E from a great distance and recreates him exactly, even to the point of having the same memories. So given this incredible feat of construction, it's not unlikely that the same machines who copied ED-E were capable of maintaining the missiles in a functional state all this time. I think the device the Courier delivered was some kind of homing beacon, possibly designed to be planted in enemy terrority to provide a target site for the missiles to strike. It was just unfortunate someone sent it to the Divide and didn't realize what would happen when it was activated. Or maybe they did know and wanted to destroy the community there for some reason. And yes, Ulysses was one big nutjob. Christine Royce even says something like this to him. I was surprised that he bothered to rescue her, but I suspect he did it for practical reasons, he needed information and she had some. I elected to eliminate him anyway, a man like him could only be problematic later if you let him walk away. Besides, my Courier had a habit of eliminating anyone who supported the Legion's cause and even if Ulysses wasn't a full supporter, he still had links to them in some way.
  11. I'm working on certain achievements relating to Steam, but need a way to control enemy spawns in an interior location of my choice so I can bring the weapons I need to work on my achievements. The enemies spawned need to have the option of being unarmed, since I will be fighting them with bare hands most of the time. Therefore, I'd like an interior location where I can specify to fight unarmed enemies and being able to respawn them when I defeat them. And no, I cannot use console commands to spawn enemies, as using the console deactivates Steam achievements.
  12. I can tell you why there are no horses in FNV. According to Fallout canon, by the time of F3/FNV, horses are extinct. Papa Khan even tells you this ingame, as he is disappointed the Khans cannot ride horses like the Mongols they are emulating. So, unless you get a modified version of Giddyup Buttercup specifically designed for an adult to ride, there's no way you can ride a horse in Fallout anymore.
  13. Yes, I am aware of that mod, but the notes attached to it have me a little concerned. First is the list of bugs attached to it, well, not having those in my game! And secondly, it's just a regular pair of binoculars according to the screenshot. And I don't want the additional features merged into it. To give you an idea of the actual physical model I'm looking for, see this webpage: Sony DEV-50V Something with that shape is what I'm after.
  14. I've been looking for mods to give my Courier high tech gear, stuff that looks like it was supplied by Big MT. The next item on my list is Binoculars. I want something that has a digital overlay, manually controllable zoom and a toggle for nightvision mode. Preferably with a unique model, so you know it's technologically advanced and not just a regular pair of binoculars.
  15. I have dabbled a little in modding before. I modified the New Vegas open strip mod to remove a certain eyesore and construct the fence that isn't there by removing it. I did try to make a Companion, but the dialogue tree completely broke down, even though I was following the steps precisely. That project has been shelved indefinitely until I get more experience. This was the next thing I could think of doing. From my point of view, the only way to learn is by doing, if I'm just moving buildings around, I'll never learn anything. I did initially try to modify the Nipton Revisited mod, but I couldn't find Ghost after I loaded it. Not sure what variables are implemented there.
