  1. Try a courage spell. Illusion has one. Maybe you could enchant an amulet with it and give it to her.
  2. So if I go back to that dungeon where I got my ass kicked after a few levels, the enemies won't have changed? Thats good news. Its not that I mind having things I have to run away from and come back later, that's better than oblivion. What bothered me was the unevenness between two quests that are adjacent in the narrative, and that there was no warning before tough quests, like Morrowind had.
  3. I can't figure out how the difficulty in this game is set. Is it like Morrowind where only random wilderness encounters are levelled, and Dungeons each have a set difficulty? Or is everything levelled, like in Oblivion, with some foes just have a higher level add on? Or what? Consider the following two incidents: So I retrieve the horn for the Greybeards, and it was a cakewalk. Then I ask them where the next THUM can be learned, and they tell me, and off I go. Not very far into the cave, I encounter a Draugr Dreadlord who THUMs my weapons away and then kills me in two blows! When I reloaded, I just turned around and left. Are the Greybeards trying to kill me? Then I went on the 'test' for the companions, and there's one battle with three of the Silver dudes that I had to retry like six times and burn through all my potions to win, even with the Companion guy helping me. Then I went on the next Companion mission, going to fight a monster I hadn't encountered before, which had taken over some guy's house. I expected the worst, given the last mission, but it turned out to be a small blue chinese dragon like thing that I dispatched with 4 blows. Does anyone have any insight into this? Please, keep in mind that I haven't played through all the way, so refrain from spoiling things. Thanks.
  4. Here's an idea. The Nuka Cola company offered prizes for bottle caps, kind of like how you used to be able to redeem proofs of purchase for goods. Now if you read the stuff at the newspaper office in DC, you'll see that the US economy was in the tank, with breadlines and shortages of everything. We could expect hyper-inflation would be part of that economic crash. So put these two factors together and what do you get? You get nuka caps being used as an unofficial currency BEFORE the war, especially if Nuka's redemption of the caps is more stable than the US currency. Stranger things have happened.
  5. This reminds me of that awesome Morrowind Mod who's name I don't remember: You go to a party, and someone compliments your outfit and asks who does your tailoring. Your options to reply are: 1. Millie Hastien in Balmorra 2. Niel Ramoran in Ald-ruhn. 3. I strip my clothes from the corpses of enemies I kill.
  6. I found it upsetting that giving the nuka cola quantum to the guy who wanted to sleep with the weird nuka cola addict gives you bad karma. Since when is helping a bro out considered evil? That way, everyone's happy.
  7. Norse mythology; a dwarf hero. In real life, who was assassinated by The Black Hand?
  8. The Marcomanni. Who sings the cliffracer song?
  9. Besides being a seaport, what does Anvil have in common with Copenhagen?
  10. I fail to see the similarity. Cthulu is a humanoid with the wings of a dragon and the head of an octopus. Hermaes mora is a big old blob with some tentacles and some crabs claws. Cthulu sleeps underwater, and will return to devour all life on earth. Hermaes Mora lives in a huge library, and allegedly eats people in the forest. ???
  11. Could it be the skull of corruption?
  12. No, you're not right. Just as if you had said that 8 + 8 = 6. It doesn't. Its 16. :P
  13. So this spy gets sent to this king's palace, and the king, like, is known for poisoning people. So the king throws a banquet, and invites all his enemies, and the spy. Nobody eats anything, but just drink water or something that they brought themselves. The spy is the only one to try the entree, because he figures the king knows about him and he's screwed anyway. It turns out that the glasses were poisoned, and the antidote was in the entree. So everyone died but the king and the spy. And the spy has had enough of this nonsense. ________________ Recite the nursery rhyme indirectly referenced in one of the Grey Fox's quests.
  14. I know WHY it happened, I just found the timing amusing.
  15. OH, I had a funny moment yesterday. I was at Bruma, practicing my Acrobatics skill: Running up the stairs to the platform above the chapel, then leaping off repeatedly, suffering a great deal of damage each time. After about 12 times doing this, a guard walked up to me and said: "You look like a bright one." One of the funniest things thats ever happened!
  16. Here's the wiki page on pietas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieta
  17. Technically, there are several Pietas, by several great artists; it was a popular subject. Michelangelo's was the most famous.
  18. And UnholyShadow is correct! Yay! Next question!
  19. Close! It is egyptian, but not typical egyptian. There is one Egyptian Pharaoh who has a style of art (actually, two or three) associated with him. He is a close relative of King Tut. Can anyone name him? I, personally, was incredibly amused when I saw that door for the first time. I love all the cultural references in Oblivion.
  20. There's a Blade named Cyrus at cloudruler temple. What real-world ruler is associated with the style of art found on the door of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary?
  21. where do you find Black Rock Cavern? I don't recall if I've been there or not. Never mind; looked it up. Turns out I had been there, but never suspected there was anything interesting about it. Thanks! Anyone got any more?
  22. For me, its Rockmilk Cave! Bring a companion or two, watch the fireworks, and collect all the loot! Easiest way to make money in Cyrodil.
