  1. The new UI sucks, I hate it. To quote Dr McCoy in Star Trek the Motion Picture, "And they probably redesigned the whole sickbay, too! I know engineers, they LOVE to change things."
  2. Weird. I had a problem with an ENB cause choppiness and a drop in frame rates. Its really weird that Fallout 4 seems to have issues with some ENBs.
  3. DjinnKiller I switched out the ENBs and I'm back on the Vogue ENB - Realism again without any issues so far after a few hours. My game even survived a sand storm that would have cut my frames to 30fps with the Dawn ENB. If I had to guess what the issue was with the Dawn ENB I'd maybe think it was the almost ambient occlusion like shadows it adds to everything, but that's just a guess since I never tested it with that effect off. With using ENBs in Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas I would have never suspected it was the ENB. It really is weird that an ENB seems to be my point of failure in Fallout 4.
  4. DjinnKiller temps haven't been an issue, I've been monitoring CPU/GPU temps. usage and memory with MSI Afterburner, my CPU never gets over 60c and my GPU never gets over 65-70c. I do have HWMonitor but I hadn't been using it since I was watching temps, memory, CPU/GPU usage in game with Afterburner. I do keep my PC clean too, I have a tempered glass side panel so about every 6 weeks when I can see the dust I open it up and blow out the dust on the fans and radiator and clean and dust off the PSU shround and other parts. I think I may have stumbled onto the culprit completely by accident. Before I cleaned out my mods I copied my entire modded FO4 folder to a different drive as backup. In my original folder where I uninstalled FO4 I did not remove my ENB from the folder since I'd never really had a problem with an ENB before. With the new game I started I finally got to the point where I gave up trying to fix the choppiness and decided to maybe just start over so I wanted to try Vivid Weather instead of True Storms. I installed Vivid Weather then looked at my character and her skin looked darker than it should. I decided to turn off my ENB effects but keep the frame rate limiter on and my character looked better. Two hours later the only frame drop I experienced was generally drops like any game, I'd maybe drop 5fps before it popped back to 60fps. Saturday morning I removed the few mods I had on that new profile with Vortex then deleted my Fallout 4 folder and replaced it with the backup I had made. I switched profiles back to my original character and played all day yesterday with no choppiness at all. I've got nearly two days of playable game time with the ENB effects turned off. I never thought to look at the ENB. When I came back to playing I did want to try a new ENB, I was using Vogue ENB - Realism that used SweetFX as part of its effects and I had switched to Dawn ENB and I guess thats when my choppiness started. I may try cleaning out the Dawn ENB and putting Vogue ENB - Realism back in to see if the choppiness returns with it or I may just remove the ENB and switch vsync back on in the INIs. Honestly playing without an ENB isn't a deal breaker for me, Fallout 4 still looks pretty good with godrays turned off and a weather mod. I do kinda feel dumb for not just nuking the FO4 folder from orbit before starting clean...but I never considered the ENB to be a threat. If anyone is experiences choppiness with high frame rates or choppiness with drastically lowered frame rates I'd suggest these steps to see if its your ENB: Exit FO4 Go to your FO4 folder and find the enbseries.ini Change the setting [GLOBAL] UseEffect=true to false Save the INI and test in game for an hour or so to see if the choppiness still persists. If its gone you know its your ENB.
  5. I know this is a problem people have had since at least 2016 based on my research. Ok so I've been trying to sort this bug out for around a week, searching online, searching here but nothing I've tried fixes the problem. I bought FO4 in late 2016, played a little and just now got around to playing it more. Yeah I'm late to the party... I'll be playing FO4 then seemingly out of the blue after maybe 30-40 minute the game either maintains 50-60 fps but is noticeably choppy or it drops to around 30fps, stays there never rising back to 60fps and is choppy. I thought maybe it was my mods, possibly my weather mod because it seemed to come on most when fog or dust storms rolled in but it still happens after I removed all my mods, uninstalled and reinstalled clean after making sure I removed everything from the FO4 folder in my Steam library. With a clean install, new game it happened during the deathclaw fight outside the museum where you meet Preston, no mods installed. I was testing to see if it was mods or FO4...I'm pretty sure its FO4 at this point. I've tried editing the ini files to set the game to borderless windowed, borderless, windowed, lowered the particles from 750 to 500, turned off FO4s Vsync and let Nvidia handle it, turned off Vsync and let my ENB cap fps to 60. I tried setting shadows to 3000 in the ini, changing the texture quality from 2048 to 1024. I tried adding bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=4 to the ini because I remembered it helped with FONV. Basically if there was a fix I could find that people said would stop choppiness/fps cut in half I tried it with one exception...I did not uncap my frame rate and let it run wild, I know Bethesda ties things like physics to the 60fps cap. I'm at a loss as to what to do, I feel like I've run out of ideas Does anyone have any suggestions I might have missed? Is there some secret handshake I need to perform with Preston or Paladin Danse? Is it just the aging game engine struggling to keep up like Mamma Murphy's drug addled brain? Should I just make peace with it and play until it pops up then reload the game for the 4000th time? My PC: Ryzen 7 1700 overclocked to 3.8ghz 16gb G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3200mhz RAM Asus ROG Strix X370- F Gaming motherboard Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 Crucial 525gb MX300 M.2 SSD boot drive Steam installed to Western Digital Black 1tb 7200rpm hard drive 750w EVGA Supernova PSU BIOS is version 5204 is current. Nvidia drivers are up to date 436.02. Windows 10 is fully up to date. With my PC I haven't run into any game that's given me nearly the problems FO4 has...and yes I know people have been typing that in threads like this for four years.
  6. I am running PapyrusUtil SE because of the Wearable Lanterns mod, it stopped the mod from having an error message pop up every time I loaded...I didn't even think about PapyrusUtil SE needing to be updated. Now I kind of wish I'd just lived with the error message. Edit: I just disabled PapyrusUtil SE, uninstalled SKSE 64 2.0.4, updated to 2.0.5 again and placed the current SKSE.exe back in the main Skyrim folder and...Skyrim loaded fine with the SKSE 64 loader. Thank you ethruria I wasn't even thinking about PapyrusUtil SE as a possible cause of the issue. The error message is back but its just annoying more than anything else.
  7. I updated to Current SE build 2.0.5 (runtime 1.5.16) last night and now when I launch Skyrim with SKSE 64 2.0.5 the game starts, the black main menu screen flashes black then the game crashes to desktop instantly. What I did to install SKSE 64 2.0.5: 1. I uninstalled SKSE 64 2.0.4, removing the SKSE loader and two .dll from the main Skyrim folder and removing its scripts using the NMM, I had zipped the scripts and used the NMM to install them for easy removal. 2. Placed the new update Skyrim.exe into the main Skyrim folder, I had previously backed this up to continue playing using the previous pre update version of SKSE 64. 3. I installed the SKSE 64 2.0.5 loader and two .dll into the main Skyrim folder, the scripts were zipped into a .rar and installed using the NMM just like I had always previously done with manual installs of SKSE. I reinstalled 2.0.5 three times with the same results each time. I then uninstalled 2.0.5 and reinstalled 2.0.4 and reverted to the pre update Skyrim.exe and Skyrim launched through SKSE 64 perfectly.
  8. I do not like the new layout at all, its a drastic change for...change sake? I personally find it ugly and a bit confusing when on game page the mods blend into the news articles. The whole things feels like Bethesda designed it to sell mods because it looks like the Bethesda mod workshop, which also kind of look like creation club. I give the new format two big thumbs down...do not like, do not want. Please don't do this to the Nexus.
  9. I was wondering if its possible for someone to make the Skyrim map markers display the behavior of the map markers in ESO. For example in Skyrim if you see a map marker for a cave on your compass that you haven't discovered and it shows as black with a white outline. Once you approach the cave and discover it the marker turns white with a black outline before you even go in. In ESO if you see a cave icon on your compass its black and remains black even once discovered until you've completed it. Is it possible to make the Skyrim map marker show black on the map once discovered unless you actually enter the discovered place? Sort of like if you talk to and NPC and he says something like, "There are ghosts in Broken Oar Cave, don't go there unless you're brave." and the screen flashes "Map Updated." You open your map and see the cave as black because you haven't been there yet. The reason I'm interested in a mod like this is because there has been times I've found some location I'd like to revisit but for whatever reason at the time of discovery I can't do it, the map marker turns white and it becomes a lot harder to remember where the place was I wanted to investigate later. If the map marker would stay black until I actually entered the discovered place it would make locating places to return to much easier.
  10. Ok, last night I took all my save files from my Nord warrior Jennifur and moved them to another folder, started a new game on a Dunmer mage. Everything was going fine until I killed the first dragon at the western watchtower and reported to Jarl Balgruuf. Things seemed to go alright at first, he made me thane of Whiterun, gave me an axe as badge of office, gave me Lydia as a housecarl and said I could buy a house in the city...but when I talk to the Steward no matter what time of day it is with him in the throne room 10 feet from the Jarl the steward doesn't have the dialog option to sell me Breezehome. I've spent the past ten hours trying to figure out why the option to buy Breezehome isn't showing up. I've done the Bleak Fall Barrow quest for the Jarl and the trader in Riverwood, returned to Whiterun and delivered the quest item to the mage, Balgruff said I could buy a house in the city. I rushed out to the western tower and killed the dragon then returned to Balgruuf. As part of my troubleshooting I've tried loading the save from just before I go kill the dragon and turned off the Dawnguard, Heartfire and Dragonborn DLC along with every mod and I still don't get the option to buy Breezehome with just Skyrim.esm and Update.esm as the only things in my load order active. I've gone as far back into my saves with nothing active except Skyrim.esm and Update.esm to the point where I entered Bleak Falls Barrow to try to salvage my current. I'm stumped and I really like the look of this character and I'd hate to toss my progress out the window and start over again. Its been probably two years since I started a new character but I seem to think I've done all I need to do to buy Breezehome or am I missing something? If I'm not missing anything is there a console command that can force the option to buy Breezehome into the conversation menu? Any help would be appreciated.
  11. The snake people are Lamia, the other creature pictures look like armored trolls. Yes, ESO changed the look of both from other TES games and I personally prefered the look of Skyrim's trolls but I am enjoying playing ESO quite a bit.
  12. Hey, I sent you a message a week ago. I was wondering if you had gotten it or not?
  13. I saw a mod a few days ago that alerts you when crossing hold borders and tells you if you have a bounty. Found it. ^^ its called BorderSense.
  14. I'm fairly sure that you're right. BethSoft should be informed so that their PR staff can throw their weight behind the modders. Modded or not, those items being sold are based off of Bethesda's product, and I bet they're not seeing a dime of that profit. The modders in question and BethSoft themself are both being ripped off here, and those affected need to stand together to tear down this Second Life Marketplace. The Second Life Marketplace is just a web based catalog to sell content created for Second Life just as the Skyrim Nexus is a free place to distribute mods. The problem isn't the marketplace itself but the Second Life users who are willing to use unauthorized content taken from other sources like as the Nexus or ripped from games. If Bethesda contacts Linden Lab then Linden Lab will remove the questionable content that Bethesda has requested to be removed and action may be taken to ban the offending Second Life user. Just like if a Nexus modder is using stolen content they can be banned here. I use the Second Life Marketplace to sell my Second Life clothing that I made...its a sales tool nothing more and 90%ish plus of the content is legal and legitimate original content for Second Life. Its a bit extreme to ask for the Marketplace to be torn down just as it would be extreme to suggest the Nexus be closed because of a few bad uploaded mods.
  15. Thanks for the heads up...my khopesh swords are on the SL Marketplace by that person and I own a big shop in SL and was planning to script and sell those myself so yeah I'm issuing a cease and desist order right now and will file a DMCA with Linden Lab (the owner of Second Life) if needed. What to do if you have items showing up on the Second Life Marketplace: Get a Second Life account if you don't already have one...go here and sign up its free. Second Life Homepage You can download the Second Life viewer here. I would reccomend logging into Second Life itself, seaching for the offending avatar name and checking their profile for an inworld shop location and checking their shop for your meshes...if you need to file a DMCA Linden Lab will need to know where in Second Life and on the Marketplace the offending items are. Send the offender a cease and desist note card in Second Life or you can simply skip that and go straight to a DMCA if you wish....the Linden Lab DMCA information page here.
