In response to post #29701550. #29702705 is also a reply to the same post. They didn't before launch, showed off Redkit 2 numerous times and said it would be ready a couple months after release a la Bethesda tools. Then they never talked about Redkit again after showing up at Microsoft's E3 event, and having Microsoft handle their TV commercials + marketing. Most likely they got paid to cancel Redkit 2, and put out tools with very restrictive limitations.

Witcher 3 MODkit Update Released
Zinthros replied to SirSalami's topic in The Witcher's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
In response to post #29769295. #29773995, #29780210 are all replies on the same post. Don't defend CDPR on this. They announced and demo'd a much better mod kit called Redkit, then suspiciously stopped talking about it the instant Microsoft chatted them up. I love this game too, but they f*#@ed us in the ass. -
Witcher 3 modding tools released with NMM support
Zinthros replied to TheTokenGeek's topic in Site Updates
These tools suck. Like seriously suck. The Witcher 1 tools were better ... forget the Witcher 2 editor. This reeks of console company money. -
I love that all the idiot indie devs are blowing up about this and leaving Steam. Good riddance, finally time someone/something cleaned them out with Phil Fish where they belong.

Mods are supported on consoles eh? Mine are going to "conveniently" require the script extender to function, I think  It's time Microsoft paid for the delays on PC DLC in Beth games.
-
So we know that Fallout 4 is going to support mods on Xbone and PS4. We also know MS has paid Bethesda TONS over the years for month-delayed DLC on PC. Does anyone else smell blood here? I wholly intend on forcing script extender usage on any mods I put out for FO4, even the ones that don't actually need it. Such that they'll only run in a PC copy of the game. That is, if consoles don't have a separate hosting service we can just "forget" to post our mods on and "accidentally" report and maybe DMCA anyone who does. Any other authors or will-be authors (finally going to dig in with FO4) planning to lock out console users for whatever reason? Microsoft and Sony have spent millions paying developers to screw us over, and now we have the opportunity to take revenge on a massive scale.

Premium Membership prices increasing from October

In response to post #9060134. #9062076, #9063310, #9160188 are all replies on the same post. Steam does NOT mess with anyone's computer, not that I've observed in years of fixing them. My laptop chugs when Steam updates games due to the 5400RPM mechanical drive, but my laptop gets 30 FPS in Vanilla Skyrim. Anyone moaning about how Steam "destroys their computer" is just covering their ass while they pirate, or hoping their story will make them be not banned for openly pirating the game and trying to get help modding / running it on the forums. -
Essentially, whatever I try with a present & render resolution of 5760x1080, windowed Dark Souls refuses to make the window this size despite rendering properly in that resolution, leading to a compressed view with slenderman-style characters. Is there any way at all to run the windowed Dark Souls in this resolution? Tried borderless windowed mode and regular windowed mode, neither seems to work. Running latest DSFix with Widescreen Fixer to hook in and prevent the black screen on startup w/ that resolution. Tried the "span across monitors" hotkey in DisplayFusion Pro as well with no results.

Dragon Age support for NMM, DA2 support incoming, site splits and top
Zinthros replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #8325438. Don't count on it. It would muddy Bioware's bold, artistic (lol) vision and cut into EA's post-release content revenue by competing with official DLC. -
Dragon Age support for NMM, DA2 support incoming, site splits and top
Zinthros replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Please devote time to fixing bugs instead of wasting development time on DAII support. There is basically no community for that game and its reception was anything but positive. That or enhance Witcher 2 support. Developing for Dragon Age 2 is a wasteful use of premium $$$. -

I'm not buying it, nor the next DLC. Accept deals from Microsoft? No purchase until your DLC is $5 or less on sale.
-
I can't say I'm expecting much out of this, since they basically said it's a WoW copy. Still, might be a pleasant surprise like TSW.
-
Achievements are dumb unless they actually do something in the game, like a permanent stat buff (NV did this sometimes). In any case, Skyrim has them because both Microsoft and Sony will refuse to certify a console game if it doesn't have cheevos / trophies. @ above post: Messing with the console has a chance to randomly disable achievements forever on specific saves. Different commands seem more or less likely to cause it. TGM is basically guaranteed IIRC.

And hopefully PC franchises like Dragon Age and Crysis won't be ruined. Oh who are we kidding? Crysis 3 will probably be the easiest, most linear Crysis yet with a miniscule fov, mouse acceleration, 4 graphics settings, and pop up "TAC ASSESSMENT RECOMMENDED!!!!!" every 5 minutes of gameplay. I'm hoping to be surprised, but somehow I have doubts. Did you know? The "speed power" in Crysis 2 (sprinting) is about the same as sprinting in armor mode in Crysis 1 & Warhead? In those games speed mode actually felt like you were in a futuristic combat suit ... Crysis 2 (and probably 3) its a glorified sprint button that eats energy.

I heard this is a good thread to post in.

Good. Maybe it will get more people off of Xbox and give Microsoft less money to bribe PC developers to delay their DLCs with. Anyway, the ideal way to handle the whole scenario is this: Pre-owned games work out of the box ... except for multiplayer. Why? Because when you bought a used copy you gave the developer nothing. Why should you be able to use their servers (note: most console games don't actually use servers much at all, most use peer to peer rubbish like CoD and Halo with light server involvement for matchmaking and stats tracking)? Single player devs can opt to release free content to new game owners post-launch, which functions both as an incentive to buy new and an incentive not to resell. Like it or not, buying a used game IS essentially piracy. The only difference is that it's legal, and you're more or less entitled to it because a game disc is a physical thing you can put in someone else's hands. What isn't so physical is the multiplayer component / content stored on servers somewhere. Anyway, the broad point is that in both cases the game was played without the developer seeing a penny. I'm for some manner of used game availability, but it doesn't necessarily need to come with post-launch support or multiplayer, since both of those cost the devs money.

Which of the Three current consoles do you perfer.
Zinthros replied to Acebopata's topic in Other Systems
The Wii. Nintendo is the only one of the big three console companies that hasn't employed awful business practices this generation (even though they did in the past with NES / Super NES). Sony and MS both bribe and otherwise pressure devs to cancel or delay PC content, so I despise both of them and probably always will. MS is worse though for sure. -
I'm glad. Even if the ban doesn't go through they've still been forced to spend tons on the court case. 360 is cancer. Microsoft brought bribery (Dawnguard, Alan Wake), paid p2p multiplayer, forcing devs to release free content as paid DLC, and forced updates that add ads to the gaming industry. Any time they lose millions on the Xbox venture like this or RROD is a good thing. We will only benefit from this ban.

Well, it isn't strictly for Nexus folk by a long shot, but I DO run a guild. We're sitting pretty at about 30 unique members between Steam group and website / forums. Nobody really uses the forums yet. It's a WvW / PVP guild. No rules regarding being in others beyond having our guild set "represented" during WvW, and only a few other common sense ones like not fighting in group chat / vent or starting drama. We take WvW seriously, but not too seriously. It is of course single server though. A WvW guild doesn't really work cross-server. Still, give the website a look at http://mistguard.org.

Any combat rifle for longer ranges, then grenade launchers for medium (the CASE kind), then big sharp things.

Figured it out. Using the 4GB patch solved my issue, now to set it up so the 4gb exe tells my drivers I'm running NV for Crossfire to work right.

Yeah, turns out it was missing masters. NVEC's compat patches depended on NVEC complete, not NVEC complete + NVCE, so I downloaded that in its place.
