  1. In response to post #43389245. #43391895, #43394075, #43413580, #43418170, #43421690, #43422755, #43423015, #43433395, #43435465, #43445355, #43447505, #43461630, #43463345, #43469650 are all replies on the same post. 66 for me. I keep telling myself that I should learn how to make mods, but I seem to be far better at using them than creating them. So far at least.
  2. Skyrim keeps crashing on startup. Assuming that this was due to one of the mods I'd installed yesterday, I tried to disable all of them and start over. Every time I try to disable or uninstall them, I get an exception report telling me that there is an unhandled exception. Yesterday it was Tel Ascadia. Today, after uninstalling and reinstalling both NMM and Skyrim (from Steam) it was Wearable Lanterns. I'll append the tracelog below. Also, I couldn't figure out how to find an earlier version of NMM. Here's the relevant tracelog. Tracing an Unhandled Exception:Exception: Message: Could not find a part of the path 'c:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim\Mods\VirtualInstall\Wearable Lanterns 2_2a-17416-2-2a\Chesko_WearableLantern.esp'.Full Trace: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'c:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim\Mods\VirtualInstall\Wearable Lanterns 2_2a-17416-2-2a\Chesko_WearableLantern.esp'. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite, Boolean checkHost) at Nexus.Client.ModManagement.VirtualModActivator.AddFileLink(IMod p_modMod, String p_strBaseFilePath, String p_strSourceFile, Boolean p_booIsSwitching, Boolean p_booIsRestoring, Boolean p_booHandlePlugin, Int32 p_intPriority) at Nexus.Client.ModManagement.VirtualModActivator.RemoveFileLink(IVirtualModLink p_ivlVirtualLink, IMod p_modMod, Boolean p_booPurging) at Nexus.Client.ModManagement.VirtualModActivator.DisableMod(IMod p_modMod, Boolean p_booPurging) at Nexus.Client.ModManagement.UI.ModManagerVM.DeactivateMod(IMod p_modMod) at Nexus.Client.ModManagement.UI.ModManagerControl.CategoryListView_UninstallModFromProfiles(Object sender, EventArgs e) at Nexus.Client.UI.Controls.CategoryListView.cmsContextMenu_UninstallModFromProfiles(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.RaiseEvent(Object key, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) Running Threads (0)
  3. I just had a couple of related suggestions for premium membership. I have let my membership lapse in the past because I didn't remember to renew. So... I would appreciate a reminder when my membership is about to expire. It's possible that I've missed it, in which case I'd like to say it's not particularly obvious. In the past, I've only realized my membership had lapsed because of the ads. On a related topic, Might I suggest that there should be somewhere I could view the terms of my membership: i.e. the length of time to expiration. I think you've done a wonderful job with Nexus. I'm 62 years old and pretty new to games and modding, but you've made it fun for me. I hope more people will support you. OK, one more nitpicking thing; When I first joined Nexus and clicked on advice for downloading a zip file, it wasn't terribly useful to someone like me who has come to computers late in life and had to learn as I go. Of course I realize now that it's ridiculously simple to use zip files, but the explanation on this site assumed I knew something... and I didn't. If you'd ever like to know what I think would make it more clear to complete computer newbies like me, let me know. But to reiterate, I think this is a wonderful site.
  4. Just a casual observation. After downloading a lot of mods, it seems as though Skyrim keeps CTD even after I've uninstalled them. I'm guessing that when you've screwed around with the text enough times, errors are bound to creep in (sort of like DNA). So my clumsy solution is to uninstall skyrim completely. It turns out that I can actually find things to do in the several hours it takes to reinstall, and then I can start anew (screwing it up).
  5. I'm assuming this is monitored, because I am not at all certain that what I have to say is, in fact, accurate. I'm enough of an old luddite to be completely mistaken, and if that is the case, please delete this comment. So here goes... When I click on any of the links and go to Boris's site for the famous ENB, I'm pretty sure I'm inundated with suggestions to download all sorts of things including the Babylon tool bar. Although I came to computing late, I'm not a complete ignoramous. It might be that i could actually download the core ENB if I were more computer literate. At the age of 62, I came into fun computers late (the first computer I ever met was a mainframe with Unix), and so have only recently learned to use a computer for fun. I'm not, however, completely illiterate. All that said, I really believe there should be some sort of caveat emptor required before modders blythely direct users to Boris. I'm pretty sure I know why he doesn't want to let his core files be placed on any other website, and I don't think it's just a matter of copyright,
  6. I'm not completely computer illiterate, but nor am I highly skilled. At my age, I've usually learned how to manage things as they come along, but this has me completely flumoxed. I think "hey, that looks like a nice graphics enhancement" and then, if I understand correctly, I'm told I must go to Boris's site and download the core files. But whenever I go to enbdev.com. all I seem to find are options for downloading all sorts of applications I don't really want. I'm sure I'm missing something unbelievably simple, but damned if I know what it is. so if some kind person could explain how to do this, I'd be eternally grateful (well I'd be grateful for at least a couple of hours).
  7. I know there was an earlier thread on this topic, but I can't find it. It looks to me as if the problem has been partly resolved since I was actually able to uninstall 2 mods before I got the "too many mods" error message at the 3rd install. So.... I love this site and I'm not trying to complain, just adding some info (which you may already know).
  8. I blame all my younger friends, but I'm now addicted (happily) to computer games. I figure the next step is to start playing multiplayer games online, but I must admit I'm pretty intimidated. My reaction times ain't what they used to be, to say the least, but I do have a pretty good sense of humor. So I'm looking for suggestions about how to get my feet wet (wrinkled though they already are)
