  1. I am having this problem with manual downloads also. It just started this morning for me. Everything worked fine a day or two ago.
  2. Koschwarz has made a mod, "Spell and Enchantment Tweaks for Un-leveled Oblivion," located here, which uses OBME to "remove the magnitude of those spells that depend on the level of the enemy and [now] they only have duration. This means they always work, no matter what level enemy you face. Your skill level determines only the duration of the spell. Of course if spell effectiveness drops below 100% only the duration will decrease. As your skills grow you can access longer duration spells. Don't expect 60 sec Demoralize spells...at novice level you can get a spell with 2-4 sec. With low skills these spells will provide only breathing space and and you gain only a short time for escape or plan your next move. If you want longer duration spells you need to be a skilled mage with high magicka and you may benefit from these spells more then just running away. But even the highest level spells won't last more than 20 sec. But you know...it always will work. Note that touch spells last longer than targeted spells." That quote is from the description of the mod written by the mod's author. The mod in question is intended to make magic more useful but still not overpowered in un-leveled Oblivion mods such as T.I.E.
  3. I installed the mod CDM - Evening Lockdown. I like the concept, but there was a problem with npcs getting locked into or out of the castles which I cannot fix since the all the stealth entrance mods I can find address the issue of cities only, allowing npcs to get back into the cities, but none of them give stealth entrances to locations such as Skingrad Castle which might be used to circumvent the problem and allow npcs back into that castle. (For example, during one of the mages guild quests the Count of Skingrad goes outside at night to assist you in a quest. He is unable to get back into the castle however, and next time I went looking for him, he was standing around in the wilderness miles away from the castle.) So, I tried to remove the mod. I discovered that I am unable to remove the mod because when I do, it creates some odd issues such as city gates which are non-functional (nothing happens when you click them) or which have disappeared altogether, and also in some locations fast-travel markers into the cities have permanently disappeared. Reinstalling the mod fixed my game back to the way it was, but does not address the original problem of npcs being stuck where they should not be. Can anyone help me figure out how to solve the npc stuck problem or how to remove the mod without the resulting problems?
  4. I had to go figure out how to check if my bash tags window was set to automatic or not since I had never before checked on that (it was still set to automatic), and after running BOSS as you suggested, my initial experiments show that some of my problems seem to have been eliminated. I suppose only time will tell if the initial oddity with my heal spells is gone or not since it doesn't happen every time but only after a while. The only detail I ran across was that I had to place Magic Effects lite after AlienSlof's Robe Trader by hand even though BOSS said it should be loaded afterwards. So far things seem to be working much better though, so thank you for pointing out this utility.
  5. Okay, so here's another question: Just last night, with bashed patch turned on, I was doing a fighter's guild quest, one of the ones in Chorrol, where the guy asks you to meet him in his house after dark to discuss it. His house is in the poor part of town, past the chapel. So I run over there to talk to the guy, and all I see is rolling landscape and a few doors with no buildings to hold them up. Turning bashed patch off, the buildings reappeared. Would BOSS possibly help to solve that issue also?
  6. This might be a stupid question, but what is BOSS? Is it part of Wrye Bash or something I missed and should know about? Here's another question for you: I bash patched my game yesterday and a new mod I had added in the past few days, Fashion Anvil, stopped working. Without the patch running, it worked just fine, but with the patch turned on, the chest from Fashion Anvil fails to spawn. Any advice for how to fix that problem?
  7. Oops, sorry, I thought the spoiler tag was an error. That is correct that I am not running a bashed patch at the moment. I had been using Wrye Bash with Morrowind and had forgotten about it. I am in the process of trying to clean up Oblivion a bit, and I have deleted several mods that were incompatible with each other, although I may use bashed patch later.
  8. Oh, thank you! I knew there was a way to do it but could not remember how since I usually muddle through problems by myself! Here is the list: I am also running these OBSE files: DisableVampRace (fixes vampire face bug) Elys Universal Silent Voice Enhanced Music Control Fast Exit 2 sr_Oblivion_Stutter_Remover Wisdom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System for OBSE (weOCPS_2009_03_28) I also have the Firey Video Map Loop Replacement installed. 9. I am having odd spell visual effects when healing myself, and no matter what I do or what settings I change, I cannot eliminate the problem. What happens is that after casting a heal spell on myself, usually after multiple casts in a row but rarely on the first time, most of the screen will get washed out completely white, and it takes at least a few seconds to clear back to a normal screen. I have already tried using Wrye Bash to elimitate the possibility of the abomb, and that did not fix the problem. Here is a screenshot link: screenshot I would like to add a list of my current active mods as well, but I can't figure out how to do that. Can someone please help me figure out what is doing this? I am at my wit's end.
  10. I got the "this is a reported attack site" message also. For all those who might need an antivirus program, I use Avast! antivirus. The home edition is free for private use with registration. You should be able to find it by doing a search for Avast! on yahoo. Worked like a charm for me, blocked the bad ads with no problems.
