  1. I'd check volume sliders in game (go to you pause menu, then settings, then sound). Some mods will have more volume controls (True Storms for example). As to which sliders you need to work with, I'd have to look to provide suggestions.
  2. Before we get to what I need help with I'm going to provide some background. At present for whatever reason Survival Options will not give me the save holotape. Yes, I can add it in through console, but shouldn't need to, as it used to be working. Also there is the fact that using said tape has no effect, no save is happening. This was before I got an error that I thought was coming from F4SE (detected game version x expected y). Turns out that was MCM's fault (Mod Configuration Manager, if you don't know that abbreviation), so I fixed that by uninstalling that version of MCM, grabbing the new version and clicking activate. You'd think "Okay one problem down, things should start working", but no, no menu in game using the pause key for MCM, so I have to believe something is out of order somewhere, so I go looking in Nexus Forms for some good tools to help fix this and that leads me to Wyre Bash and FO4Edit, but I see a few issues with these. #1 (biggest issue): I recently updated Videos of the Wasteland (and a batch of the movie mods) and removed all the old content (installing new as I went, starting with Videos). I have no idea if this worked yet, as I want to fix Survival Options first, but the issue I'm going to mention is related to this: Both Tools say files are missing for Videos of the Wasteland and the listed movie mods that have updated their content to work with the new Videos of the Wasteland (which as mentioned I just got in the order mentioned above). So why am I seeing files are missing for those when I have just grabbed them and NMM (Nexus Mod manager) has them activated. I know mods are active in my game as the Sparky Forcebubble pet companion is active in-game, no issues there. #2: I did check into the guide here and I am thinking it's probably due for some updates, as it pointed me to those tools, but those tools aren't helping me if they say I'm missing files, when I just got the mod files from this very Nexus and NMM says they're in (green checkmarks all around) and yes, I hav saved the mod profile. Excuse the rant, but moving on. I did just update Valdacils Item Sorting, so my load order probably needs a few other tweaks. I will say Holotime is visible in my game and I am debating removing Def_UI, though I tried disabling that, to no effect in regard to MCM's own menu. Ideas are welcome along with constructive criticism (after all, I'm trying to get help here and offer a bit in turn where possible). My present load order from NMM is below copied from the export directly. Thanks in advance. 3. For fule associations, thete is a tool out there that will let you alter those, let me see if I can find it . . . . Filetypesman go here https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html It's not what I was hunting, but should do the job.
  4. If you need to open a rar file 7zip or izarch can help. As for converting to esp's from that, I have no idea, but a mod packaging tutorial should have the steps you need.
  5. I have one idea which might help: Do you have MCM installed (Mod Configuration Menu). If yes, (the dialogue box title you see when you get the error will say the above, you'll have to look close), Update that mod and that error should go away (I still have some save item issues from Survival Options to work out, but the advice I've given should fix it).
  6. Sounds like an old typmatic rate problem. Check your controllers response rate settings, see if you can adjust that a bit. The reason I say this is it sounds like you may also want to check your accessibility options as there is a delay there for keypresses. The system might think the controller is like a mouse (those Windows has a setting for click speed which can be adjusted). If all else fails, see if you have some game controller software that you can install or is installed and check those settings (great for mapping keyboard options to buttons). Hope one of these ideas helps.
  7. One thing I'd note, check your scrap everything, if you have ultimate you shouldn't need the workshop and far harbor pieces. The small updates you will need and I would add the building placement fix.
  8. First thing I would check: Is the game back where you put it (use the file explorer and make sure it's there). Second, Check where NMM thinks Fallout 4 is at (if #1 is ok, then NMM should agree). If NMM doesn't agree, fix that. #3. Try disabling and enabling a standalone mod, this could get things back on track (pick something that should be at the bottom of the load order), also check that load order to make sure everything's where you want and need it to be (if you have to move something, exporting and importing it as a text file will save you time, as I have had no good luck with LOOT, though a lot of others swear by it). 4. If you have any mods exclusively through the in-game mod manager, make sure both are on the same page (load order wise), if not, more tinkering is in order. Hope that helps. Don't forget to save your mod profile, too.
  9. With the problem you're having my suggestion will be a little complicated, but not too bad. 1. You will want ti use the manual download link in nexus, or whereever you are getting the mod, but read the rest of this post first. 2. You will need a download manager to handle that link. Freedownloadmanager.org has a good one, but you will want to add some things to it (I am assuming you have firefox installed on your pc for these instructions, but the process will be similar for Chrome. IE or Edge I can't comment as well on (I have IE on my pc, too, but I rarely use it)). 3. Go to the download manager site. Download and install the maanager. 4. Go into the managers settings once active and make sure to turn on integration for your browsers (for some this will mean adding in a plugin or extension, but the manager has the links for those). The menu can be found in the upper right (the three horizontal lines). Do verify the extension is enabled (use the links in the managers settings where you should be). 5. Assuming all has gone well up to now, you should have an extension in Firefox labeled "Free Download Manager Extension". If not find it in the addons site for Firefox, it looks like the icon you see for Free Download Manager in your system tray. 6. At this point you should have a right click option to download a link using the manager. You may need that sometime, but firefox should ask you how you want to download something when you click such a link, if Free download manager comes up only, cancelling the download there should bring up Firefox's own downloader. 7. With all in order, use that manual download option and let the manager handle it. You won't need the browser open and with the manager you can pause or schedule these downloads for your convenience (helps if you have a limited amount you can download during the day, but have a free period at night). 8. With that download saved somewhere intact and without errors (something a manager can help with), add it to NMM as you would any manually downloaded mod, just make sure it's in the right category. Hope that helps.
  10. I've seen this on my game, fixing the load order fixed it for me. I have spring cleaning and scrap everything in my setup. These both are last on my load order with spring cleaning above scrap everything in NMM's plugins list.
  11. First thought - use Nexus Mod Manager for mod order changes. You'll need to head to the plugins tab and export that list to a text file, after that, find the text file, make the order changes you need, re-save that file, then import it back into NMM (there are buttons on the plugins section of NMM for import and export). If you're wondering why I'm recommending this approach, I tried using LOOT to do something similar, but I could not get that to work (it kept saying I didn't have a master file, but NMM seemed to be running my mods just fine and my mods were seen in-game). I did use LOOTs exported list of my plugins to try and see where something might have been out of place, but following that list seems to be a lot more trouble as it didn't see that a number of my mods were active already. Good luck.
  12. My first suggestion would be grab the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) and the Unofficial Fallout 4 patch. While you're at it grab the Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE, a lot of mods use that). There are instructions for installing the patch and you may want to look into some files that will allow you to get achievements even with mods installed. There are a few files you'll need to make slight edits to, but nothing too hard or complicated (finding the right fallout4custom.ini is the main thing for mods, but the unofficial patch just gets added into you game directly, instructions are on the site. Follow these and you should be fine). I know when I initially ran the game I couldn't move around (a common bug), but once I had those edits in and a few files added from the unofficial patch, that seemed to help. Also, if you are going to use mods I would highly recommend that if there is a Nexus version vs the mod menu in Fallout 4, use Nexus. Creation Club is ok to grab, but I myself have had issues when updating mods just because of the two sources (Nexus vs Bethesda.net in game). Hopefully, this advice helps and others will probably agree on putting in the Unofficial Patch.
  13. I was not trying to hijack a thread. If that's how it's coming across, you have my apologies. I did ask a valid question though. Right now for Fallout 4 mods you have bethesda.net and nexusmods.com as the big 2 from which to get the mods. I see mods that say on the Nexus here that certain other mods require that mod to be in first. Playtesting found this out and leads to some patching, but others are frameworks intended by the authors to build onto. Either way the nexus added fields in the database to account for all of that. If someone makes a mod, sure the mod manager they're using may point out that file x from whatever mod will be overwritten, but does anyone have the ability to test all the mods that exist themselves . . . No, that's where the testers come in. Now suppose someone made the database I'm suggesting. This would take time, work, and a fair bit of help; but once done a new author or even a pro would have a way to see if anyone else used the same filename in their mod. This would lead to some investigation and code examination by that author to address that file so that it either was renamed, or functionallity added to deal with the calls from the other authors mod. Some colaboration might also come about as well. In the case I posted, looking for that one file, a database like that would help me hunt down the mod that had gotten lost. Keep in mind transfer settlements does give you a list of the mods used for a settlement and those who have posted their blueprints have been able to give the rest of us that same list so that the settlement we wanted to bring in would appear as intended.
  14. On the topic of tools, I posted that I was trying to hunt down the name of a mod that has "bettersettlements.esm" in it. So far using "better settlements" in a search has yielded me no results that even match my mod list that I've kept just in case I have to grab everything again. Is there a database of the files in these mods that might help me find which mod I had installed before? I have re-saved without it and fortunately my settlement seems unaffected, but don't get me started on keeping these mods up to date without starting all over (Videos of the Wasteland seems to want to head that way, so I'm leaving it alone and at the version I grabbed a while back). If anyone wants to see what I have up to this point, they can check this form: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6410741-help-seeking-the-mod-with-bettersettlementsesm/?hl=%2Bseeking+%2Bbettersettlements&do=findComment&comment=57755031 . Do note I've added a few more mods to the list, but those were just to add some labels to some containers to make my life easier. Thanks in advance.
  15. Update, Just checked Bethesda.net again no luck finding the mod that has that bettersettlements.esm in it. Any ideas? I could use help tracking this down.
  16. I know I goofed just a bit, but I updated a few mods in the mods section of Fallout 4, instead of noting them down for me to uninstall and reinstall the mods through Nexus Mod Manager. I think I found all those I downloaded, but as the title notes I'm hunting down the mod that has bettersettlements.esm (see attached screenshot that I cropped . . Correction tried as both a jpg and png, both under 105kb no luck there) in it. Any ideas which one that might be? I hunted in Google, but no luck. I have done a bit of building with Snap 'N Build using some base game assets, but as far as I know that's not what's affecting it. And I doubt it's the Usable Bunk Beds mod. What follows is a list of all the mods I'm currently using and yes, this is on PC (don't start which is better, I'm just trying to figure out what mod I need to put back in to fix the loading of my game, I'm close to level 41 now with quite a bit to do yet).
