  2. Before I post a lengthy mod load order, thought I'd check if anyone has heard of this bug and if it was associated with a specific mod. Tried a few searches and didn't come up with anything solid so posting the issue here. The first oddity was my light armor skill leveling up a point out of no where. Just walking along a bing! the leveling message pops up showing light armor has increased. Only thing is my character is head to toe heavy armor. The next occurrence was in a battle with some Draugr. I took down a couple in the battle with a plain old hunting bow and the skill message that popped up was for a Destruction level increase. As far as I know, it's happening randomly, because I'm usually seeing skills leveling the way they should. I don't always pay attention to the leveling messages in battle so have no idea how often it has occurred. Most of my mods are physics, armor, body or follower oriented. The largest ones I'm running are Interesting NPC's, Relationship Dialogue Overhaul, Amazing Follower Tweaks and Cutting Room Floor. I've got all the associated patches loaded to make those play nice. The only other ones that might impact this I've run forever and never seen an issue. It's one that reduces the cost of wards and another that allows you to trade dragon souls for perk points. I think it started happening after I loaded Relationship Dialogue Overhaul, but that doesn't seem like it would impact leveling. It's really hard to diagnose by deactivating mods, because it's so random. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  3. That's the way it works. If your Archery skill is low, you won't hit the bandits 100% of the time. There's also an area just beyond the edge of most objects that will catch arrows, it's a just a "feature" of the way the graphics are rendered. Also you won't always be able to recover arrows, it simulates what would happen in real life; hit a rock and an arrow shaft could shatter, hit a tree or wooden support and maybe it went too deep to be recovered or maybe they just get lost in the brush. There is also a perk you select later in the Archery skill that allows you to recover more arrows from enemies.
  4. It kind of looks like the shadow resolution is weirding out. Have you tried dropping or raising the shadow or graphics quality? Did this always happen or did it start after you loaded or took something away? Are you running any graphic enhancement mods? Posting a mod list/order would also help those more knowledgeable take a crack at your issue.
  5. ENB's inherently cause slowdowns to many PC's, but your Vid card is no wimp by any means. Skyrim can only deal with so much memory anyway so it may just be a combination of too much graphic goodness. Might want to try a couple of the optimization mods to drop the resolution on insignificant things like pine needles and snow falling. If you have SKSE loaded and haven't done it already there is a memory tweak you can do by adding the following entry to the skse.ini: [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768 ScrapHeapSizeMB=256
  6. Have you tried using the console to disable and then re-enable the plaque? That works occasionally for glitchy objects. Just remove any weapons and shield from it, go into the console, click on the plaque to bring up it's ID and type disable. Drop the console wait for a minute, then bring the console back up (the plaque ID should still be there) and type in enable. It's not a sure thing but worth a try.
  7. Seems like I just posted on this one, but I'll ask the same question; is your Skyrim version up to date and patched? (Official and unofficial patches) This is another old bug that should have been fixed with the patches. Here's suggestions from the ES Wiki: The quest may fail to start after completing Diplomatic Immunity, and even trying manually start or end it with the console will not work. This bug is fixed by version 1.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. You may have to skip forward to the start of the next quest, Alduin's Wall, by using the console and typing in setstage MQ203 5, which will allow you to continue.Use console command setstage MQ202 (stage #) to force Esbern to open the door and talk again. Stage 160 makes Esbern open the door, if bugged. Stage 170 makes Esbern talk again, if bugged. Another easier way to avoid bugs is to type in CompleteQuest MQ202, which would work for any quest value. The next quest may fail to start upon this quest's completion
  8. That's an old bug, but it should have been patched sometime ago. On old versions the guards at the front gate can be killed by a dragon attack and won't re-spawn. Are you up to date with your version/patches? Otherwise, try going back to a previous save prior to arriving at the embassy, see if that works.
  9. 32 bit platforms have inherent issues now-a-days handling large files due to trend towards 64 bit, I wouldn't hold my breath for a personalized fix. You should probably just install the mod manually as the FAQ suggests. Here's some good tutorial videos on NMM and installing mods manually: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClqtmSUsFhg&list=PLE7DlYarj-DdhDG41roBVJfNCqvO5MmKP&index=2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hrtYnqdFkM You should also check the forum entries for the specific mod, you can access that through the "Posts" button on the mod page. Just search around for those who had similar issues.
  10. The symbols in your mod manager (lightning bolt with + sign) indicate mods that have file conflicts. While many folks use a lot of mods you have to draw the line somewhere otherwise you'll end up with a ton conflicts and left over files from installing and uninstalling mods. Personally, I would blow away the mods you have, uninstall Skyrim, use a tool like CCleaner to clean out redundancies and old files, do a new install of Skyrim and the unofficial patches and make a clean start of it, BUT this time keep track of the mods you are loading, READ the mod descriptions to check for conflicts before loading. At most you probably only want to load around half the mods you currently use. Just pic and chose which ones you really like. Once you've loaded all the mods you'll use then use a sorting tool like Loot to place them near to the correct order. On it's own Loot won't solve your issues, you just have way too much going on.
  11. cdcooley, you don't give yourself enough credit. I have my games on a drive other than C:/ Until you mentioned searching for another .ini I didn't think to check anywhere else since I just figured the one in the My Games folder was what the game referenced. I did a quick search of the Data folder and didn't find an .ini that would impact it. Then, I expanded the search back to the full Common folder and found another SkyrimPrefs.ini with the following entry: [saveGame] fAutosaveEveryXMins=15.0000 I'm not sure if that was causing some kind of conflict and have yet to test it, but I've changed the value to 5.0000 hoping that will handle the issue. I'm just wondering why I have a Prefs ini in both the C:/ and and G:/ drives, and if that is impacting anything else. Well, off to test it, here's hoping. Thanks for the input! Update: Seems to have tested out. I was walking through my abode doing some reorganization and after about 5 minutes the AutoSave kicked off, so apparently it's working again. Thanks again cdcooley.
  12. In the future you might want to keep a list of your mods AND the associated patches or other mods they require in a text file on your drive in case you run into a similar problem. While load order and mod conflicts do play a part in stability, in all honesty it sounds like your saves are most likely corrupted due to all the mod uninstalling, installing and so on. There is a somewhat complex tool that can be used to "clean" saves, but since you aren't sure about the mods you've reinstalled associated with the earlier saves it may be far more trouble than it's worth. Starting a new game would probably be your best bet. Once saves are corrupted, they can never really be completely cleaned and you'll probably run into issues later on even if you do get it running again. Before starting a new game, make sure all your mods are up to date and have the required files. Download and run Loot as the previous poster suggested. There is a function that allows you to drop your load order list to the clipboard so you can paste it wherever. If you add or remove mods, run Loot again and use the same copy function after you apply the sort order to your mods. Here's a link to the Loot download, make sure to read the instructions! https://loot.github.io/
  13. Estroya, as an FYI for the future, if you look in your settings while in Skyrim you will see there is the ability to select how often incremental, timed autosaves are run. Thus the reason I mention in my original post that I currently have the setting at every 5 minutes. I don't mean this to sound like I'm trashing respondents and while I do appreciate the attempts (which bring it back to the top of the list  ), I would prefer that replies to my inquiry be done by those that have solid knowledge relating to the issue at hand in order to prevent it from being lost amid the mire of "make do" or "I think" suggestions. Thanks
  14. I already do rotating saves, but would prefer to have the Auto-Save function in operation again. Referring to my original post, it seemed to be working fine up until around the time I installed SKSE and SkyIU. I'm not 100% sure those are the issue and was hoping someone with some experience with this type of problem would reply before I attempt disabling those and the mods associated with them for testing due to the time involved. The Auto-Save and Time mod was loaded after the issue started to occur as an attempt to work around the "bug." As mentioned, I uninstalled it because I didn't find it a viable alternative and prefer to search for a solution to the prevailing issue, rather than an alternative. As an FYI to future respondents, I've updated my mod order list in the original post to reflect my current content and order.
  15. Yep, that may be it. I believe AFT substitutes the vanilla move dialogue in favor of the usual "Follow Me" and "Dismiss, but hang out here" is the equivalent to "This is your new home."
  16. Are you using any follower mods? Those can sometimes impact vanilla dialogue by substituting their own.
  17. The AutoSaves that occur after an action (i.e. entering a cell, fast travel and so on) are working fine, but the saves that should be occurring every so many minutes (I currently have this set at 5 minutes) are not executing. I'm running a goodly number of mods/plugins (94 at present count listed in the attached file) and have been running about 90% + of them without issue for quite some time. The issue seemed to arise directly after I started using SKSE 1.7.3 and SkyUI in order to utilize a couple of the more complex mods. The SkyrimPrefs.ini file seems to contain the appropriate entry: [saveGame] fAutosaveEveryXMins=5.0000 None of the other mods that utilize SKSE have any bearing, at least that I can tell on the AutoSave feature. As an FYI I have also executed SkyUI-Away to bring back the vanilla inventory, but that was done after the issue. Also, one other point of interest - I tried using the save mod "Auto-Save and Time" (found on Nexus), which seemed to engage the function along with its own saves, but I found that tweaky to manage and decided to pursue a solution to the original issue. I'm running an Intel i7 3.07Ghz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 960 on an Asus Sabertooth MB. Skyrim is loaded to my G: drive though the usual Steam directory path and .ini files are located in the usual C: /Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder path. Any thoughts? (As an aside, anyone else have issues copy/pasting to their posts?) Thanks in advance. Tracker308
