In response to post #11027690. #11028600, #11028893, #11030598 are all replies on the same post. @Dark0ne - are there any plans to move the NMM source to github? Github's issue tracking, wikis and community are stronger IMO. I haven't actually gone through NMM's source but I think a good suite of tests, build instructions etc ...would greatly enhance the volume of your open source contributions. Lack of documentation is almost always a deal breaker for open source projects, as the barrier to entry becomes to high. I hate being one of those people who comments on issues without throwing in however, so I'll have to finally find the time to contribute I suppose. Thanks for all your (& nexus crew's) crazy hard work over the previous year! :-)

Great to see that Apocalypse is getting an update - though I must admit I was pretty excited about the concept of 5 sub-mods and the increased degree of style specific play that implied. Sorry to hear they never got much in the way of attention  . The nexus does need new mechanisms for mod discovery - I must say. As for the spells that you have covered thus far I have a couple of comments: - I really like the alteration school as you have described it - for some reason it feels more focused (at a glance) than the original Apocalypse's offerings in that area. - You mentioned going back on your plan to replace "Teleport" (removing the planned "Kinetic Charge") - please leave kinetic charge in if possible! From the description you provided it reminds me very much of the Vanguard "Charge" power from Mass effect, which was thoroughly enjoyable and allowed for a very different play style. - As for conjuration: the new summons look great, however necromancy-esque spells seem to receive relatively little love. Could some temporary debuff ("aging") spells be introduced perhaps? Or, somewhat simpler, spells to: - Mark someone for immediate revival as a thrall upon their subsequent death (If they die within x amount of time) - A cloak spell which automatically revives dead in contact with it ? - Summon a skeletal dragon ally (probably master level ) My apologies if an existing Apoc spell does exactly as I've described. Anyway - thanks for continuing to work on enjoyable mods!

[WIP] Thunderchild - The Tongue Experience
TheUninvitedGuest replied to EnaiSiaion's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm really looking forward to this Mod - I've always felt that a Tongue / Two handed build would be a huge amount of fun. One request / suggestion: Would it be possible to have "Gathering Breath" be a power rather than a spell ? I recognise that a valid reason for this ability being a spell is that powers occupy the same slot as Shouts and a player would therefore have to switch back to a shout having used it. On the other hand it would seem to fit better with the tone of this mod if this ability were something to do with your voice. A short 3rd person animation / period of vulnerability (as with transformations found in the game) could provide a nicely balanced penalty to what is otherwise a powerful ability. I may not be making much sense - in my mind I keep coming back to something akin to meditation. Anyway - completely understand if you choose to leave it as is - but thought it was worth the ask.- 132 replies

Buy an SSD - that is really one of the most (and the only) effective ways to cut down loading screens. Game developers don't put those in there for fun you know ;)

I would have to say that Portal 1 & 2 are my favourite games of all time. I haven't seen, before or since, a concept so well executed and expanded upon - nor a game of such character. IMO it is valve at its best, which is a high bar.

ENB for Climates Of tamriel with Low performance cost
TheUninvitedGuest replied to aleksanderne's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I have had some success with the vibrant preset of skyRealism ENB evolved. I cut the enb DOF in favour of dynavision for the sake of performance too. I'm using the TPC but it was compiled a while back and from memory I went for a 50/50 split between top and medium textures. I consistently get 50+ fps with an MSI 660 Ti with 2GB vram. Equally I don't run at your crazy ass resolution lol :-P -
Ive often thought about that if I'm honest. I know there would probably have to be some custom key mapping, and that animations are a pain, but this image here basically sums up what I had in mind - unfortunately I have no idea how I would even start...

The Impossible Mod has been Cracked.
TheUninvitedGuest replied to Jason2112's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
As I understand it UI mods in general are hard to implement. I believe this may be vested in the fact that the Interface is implemented with actionscript, outside of the creation engine. It therefore requires a slightly different skill set to most mods. I could have gotten the wrong end of the stick with this though. -
What's your take on Gabe Newell's idea to monetize modding ?
TheUninvitedGuest replied to Alithinos's topic in PC Gaming
Ben - would the copyright issues you suggest not be handled by the fairly robust software licensing system that already exists ? An example I can think of is the "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike" Creative Commons license. Furthermore - the quality and scope of mods "might" improve as a result of partial monetisation. Just take a look at HackerNews and other web dev communities. Despite money being involved there is still a robust open source market and a huge exchange of techniques and ideas. I'm not a proponent of this scheme - but I don't think the potential merits can be dismissed out of hand without far more data to consider. -
SKSE function reference
TheUninvitedGuest replied to TheUninvitedGuest's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thanks guys - if the wiki is outdated will the sublime packages for SKSE & Papyrus also be very out of date ? I only ask because Sublime my favourite editor. -
See posts for which you were given Kudos
TheUninvitedGuest replied to TheUninvitedGuest's topic in Site Support
Apologies - after posting I did some more research and discovered that Kudos does indeed function as you say. I guess that it is actually more distinct from other reputation systems than I first thought - thanks for the clarification! Kudos ;) -
This may be a ridiculous question, but I can't seem to find any function reference or Developer documentation for SKSE, only a vague description of the kind of functionality it provides (mostly aimed at mod users). This may be due to my incompetence, but if anyone could point out my mistake, or link me to some docs/tutorials/articles I would be really grateful. Thanks :)

This may sound like a weird request but on previous forums I have frequented they operated reputation systems similar to the Kudos system employed by the Nexus. One key difference however was that on other forums I have generally been able to see for which posts/topics I have been given reputation (though obviously not by whom I was given it). I have looked (please do tell me if I am blind) but am unable to find such a system on the nexus forums. Kudos/Reputation is a fairly empty metric - I understand that there might be no interest or perceived need for a change here - however in the past I have used such systems to judge the general reception of tutorials, guides or opinion pieces I posted (allowing me to see what did and didn't work with regards to format and/or content) and would appreciate the ability to do the same here... As always - hat tip to the staff for being awesome.
-
I have also wondered about this. At the moment I just pay the quarterly fee instead of paying the one off fee - operating on the assumption that this continued revenue will be more beneficial to the Nexus in the long run (as long as I keep the subscription up for more than 2 years). I would upgrade ( to avoid having to "worry" about expiring membership if nothing else) if some additional monthly donation became possible.

Thanks for the post Dark0ne ! Really nice to see what is going on behind the scenes. I know you think its boring but for a fellow dev and compsci geek its anything but. Any chance of a more detailed rundown of the stack? I could deduce that you're running Django on NGINX but also php (for IPB) and presumably MySQL or Postgres ? As a point of interest I'm assuming that a CDN and/or refactoring of the front end into Javascript / API aren't possible? Lastly, spotify achieves very quick speeds and reduced server load by operating partially through P2P I believe. Thanks for all the hard work anyway!
