I have 590 installed plugins, only 252 of them are active, the rest are merged. The total size of all my mods goes over 50GB (not counting the vainilla resources). These are my specs: 6GB of RAM GForce GTX750 ti oc AMD Phenom 2 X2 It's crap. Still, I can run the game (although it takes ages to load an area and every resource). I'm pretty sure the game never crashes at startup because of having too many addons active (as long as you don't go over the hardcoded limit of 255 addons). If it crashes for you at 183 plugins, you either have missing dependencies, or something is wrong with one of your mods. Keep in mind you can also hit the limit if your addons have disabled dependencies (the game will load them anyways, and it probably won't crash, but you'll have many problems in game).

What are your favorite weapon mods ?
MaxShadow09 replied to azerty852's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I am kinda obsessed with quantity and variety, so I download as many wapons as my game can handle (and beyond). Here are some good packs I use: Grenade Expansion pack 2: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16404/? A good amount of new explosives, and a grenade launcher to shoot them with style. China Lake and Holorifle: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22254/? Another grenade launcher with a few unique variations. Skibadaa Weapon Pack REDUX: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23064/? A compilation of Skibadaa weapons. Wasteland Ordnance - The Definitive Weapon Collection: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11427/? A compilation of Z05Frank weapons. CROSS Fireworks Cannon and PlasRail: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12636/? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13850/? Anything CROSS related is awesome. The Pipe Shotgun: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10826/? The missing piece in the pipe arsenal. DOOMBASED weapons merged and MAIBATSU's Melee weapons: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16387/? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11916/? Another cool pack of weapons from DOOMBASED. MikeMoore's MCAM: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14786/? A collection of melee weapons. Modern Firearms: http://darkheartsdream.eu/ Latest version here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/cold-steel-hot-lead I also recommend this damage reduction patch: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18745/? A great pack of modern weapons with many attachments, which can be switched on and off in combat by using certain AID items. It takes a more "realistic" approach, and thus is very unbalanced compared to the rest of weapons (they have very high damage). That's why I recommend the damage reduction patch. Weaponsmith Extended: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10737/? A HUGE compilation of weapon mods, balanced and integrated in a single pack. It includes some mods, but others have to be downloaded manually. I haven't tried it yet, and it isn't a good idea to Install it if you already have many other weapons installed (you'll probably get duplicates). -
Hi people. I'm trying to make a little patch with FO4Edit to set the ammo weight of every mod ammo item to 0. To do this, I first apply a filter by AMMO type, and then I apply a script to change the weight value from all the records. The problem is that once I apply the filter, I use the "Copy as Override" script, and it copies the records correctly, but they are not the conflict winners. If more than one mod modifies the same record, FO4Edit will copy the first one it finds, and the rest of overrides are ignored. I want to keep the records from the last conflicting plugin (which is the one with highest priority in the game). Is there a way to do that?

Random crashes when loading saved game
MaxShadow09 replied to MaxShadow09's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I found the problem! I loaded an old save file and it worked fine. However, as soon as I tried to equip an Alternate Strap Brown Dufflebag with Rifle (from Survivalist Go-Bags), the game crashed. Turns out I had that backpack equipped in all the following save files. Whatever is causing that crash, only happens sometimes. That's why I was able to equip it the first time, and why sometimes I was able to load my game. I managed to load my latest save file after that, and removed that bag from my inventory. Everything works fine now. I checked the mod page, and some people reported crashes too in the bugs section. Anyway, thanks for the replies. -
Hi people, I'm having a weird problem and I hope someone here can help me. Last friday the game was working fine. I'm playing with a ton of mods (580 total esp's, merged they make 230 active esp's). Yesterday I installed a few more mods. When I load my last save, it showed the loading screen, and just before it starts the game, it crashes. I thought one of the mods I installed was giving problems, so I started disabling them, one by one, and it kept crashing, until I removed my FO4Edit merged patch. I load my save and it starts normally. Looks like I found the problem! Well nope. I re-enable all the mods I disabled before, and the game crashed again. Maybe something else is causing problems, so I disable those mods again. And it kept crashing. At this point things start getting quite weird. I try something else: I delete my .ini files and let the game generate new ones. Then I enable archive invalidation, and the game starts again. Looks like I found the problem once more!. Well nope. Adding some mods again makes it crash. I keep trying different things. This time I try to run the game without F4SE, and it works normally. I add some mods, and it crashes again. But this is the weirdest thing: after trying different combinations of mods, configs, with and without F4SE, I manage to load my saved game. I close the game, and restart it without touching anything. And BAM... crash again. I really don't know whats happening, but the game is apparently crashing randomly. It doesn't matter what mods I have, or what I'm using. Most of the time it crashes, but there are a few times where it loads fine. Starting a new game seems to work fine in any case. I don't know if it's a problem with the game or my PC, but it's getting on my nerves. It was working perfectly fine a couple of days ago. My rig is quite old, but it can run the game decently with low settings. I use NMM to install mods, and the total size of all the mod I installed is above 50GB (not counting the game and the DLCs). But belive me, it worked fine. I would appreciate any help you could give me, as long as its not uninstalling all the mods, or reinstalling/validating the game (all the vainilla texture ba2 were modified to reduce the texture size). Any ideas?

[LE] Quick Questions, Quick Answers
MaxShadow09 replied to Elias555's topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
I'm not sure what you mean. I have over 400 mods installed, and my save files always have a size of 30mb or less. More mods means more scripts stored in your save, and also more objects in the world, so yeah, the size increases, but not much. However, once I had a mod that was throwing errors constantly, and it made my save files go over 100MB, but uninstalling it fixed the problem. It was Throwing Weapons Redux. Short answer: It used to be a thing but recent versions of SKSE have made this essentially a myth. Longer answer: Peter is probably referring to a problem with save bloating that would happen when someone activated a mod with scripts, ran the game so that the scripts ran in the background, and then deactivated the mod or otherwise removed the scripts from the game. What would happen is that the script would be stuck in a state of limbo, not quite working as intended but still running in the background because it was so heavily tied to the save file. After repeating this process one's game could become bogged down (start running slowly) not because the save file itself was big but because the game was running a bunch of "orphaned" or "rogue" scripts that it didn't use and it unnecessarily taxed the CPU thread. Fortunately with relatively recent versions of SKSE, script cleanup is integrated so that any running scripts that become "orphaned" or essentially lose the mod they were tied to are automatically shut down and removed from the save game. So, if you experience save "bloating" (which is rare due to how many scripting mods require SKSE anymore) then go ahead and install the most recent SKSE and play the game for a while. Your save games should lose most of that weight in about 30 minutes or so and any future saves you make should never see that problem again. In my experience, the SKSE "ClearInvalidRegistrations" doesn't do anything, or it does it really slow. I always clean my saves with another tool (Skyrim Script Save cleaner or something like that, aka "Save Tool"), and after uninstalling mods there are always orphaned scripts, even with the latest SKSE. I heard you have to wait in-game for a long time until SKSE finish cleaning up, but I'm not sure how it works. -
Yeah, it has a little stuttering when moving, but that should be normal. The game is much more playable now. Thanks anyway.

As Jones177 said in another post, the problem was VSync. Disabling it from the Skyrim and ENB ini's and enabling it from NVidia Control Panel fixed most of the stuttering.
-
Damn, I wish I knew this before. I was experiencing some heavy stuttering outdoors, so I resized most of my textures down to 1K, trying to fix it. It helped a bit, but I was still having stuttering. Disabling VSync really helped me, the game runs really smooth now. Reducing the texture size was unnecessary :/ In fact, the game was working fine a few days ago, but it suddently started with that annoying stuttering. It's probably because VSync was disabled before, but changing game settings from the Skyrim Launcher enables it again. It also enables all your plugins, making you hit the 255 limit if you have many of them disabled. Stupid launcher, I probably won't touch it again. Thanks for the info Jones177.
-
Well actually it's getting filled as soon as I load a game. PerformanceMonitor reports 2000MB of VRAM used, and 3000MB of RAM (800mb from TESV.exe and 2200MB from enbhost.exe). My 750 is the 2GB version. So is that the problem?
-
Hi people. I'm having a problem. My game is getting some serious stuttering in outdoor areas, mostly when I try to turn around. It freezes for like 2 or 3 seconds, and then it runs smoothly for a few more seconds just before freezing again. Even if I look back twice without moving, it still freezes. Running forward without moving my camera seems to keep it stable, but it still freezes every few steps. Looks like it's taking too long to load the resources. It's not low fps, the game runs decently most of the time, but this stuttering is making it unplayable. In indoors it works fine. Talking about mods, well, my mod list is huge. I have over 400 active mods, and more than 100 esp's merged. I'm not using any big HD textures overhaul, except for the official HD pack, and some mods with heavy resources like Climates of Tamriel, Realistic Lightning and FX, JK Skyrim, Sexy (city's and towns), CBBE, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, SG Female Textures Renewal and Fine Face Textures for Men. I also have a TON of weapon, armor and spell mods. That's a lot of resources, but I'm pretty sure that the game started working this bad just a few days ago. It wasn't that unplayable before. I'm also using ENBBoost with default settings, except for UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics, UseDefferedRendering and EnableProxyLibrary. I'm using ProjectENB preset, but it doesn't seem to be the problem. Even without effects, the game freezes a lot. I also tried to reset my Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, but didn't change anything. Also, I have the SKSE memory patch with default settings, and the "Crash Fixes" SKSE plugin. All my textures are clamped at 2k with the optimization tool (except for those inside BSA's). Anyway, I always try to download the 2K version of mods. I could try to reduce them to 1k and see if that helps, but once I do that there's no coming back. I can't make a backup because my HD space is very limited. That's why I want to know if there's any other possible solution before doing that. Oh, and my PC is crap: 6GB Ram, AMD Phenom 2 X2, Gforce GTX750ti oc. My load order:
-
Crash at startup usually means you have missing masters for some active plugins. If you're using Nexus Mod manager, check if any plugin is in red, that means some of its masters are missing. Otherwise, try to open all your plugins in TES5EDIT, it should tell you if there's a missing master. It could also mean that a plugin is loaded before it's master. Are you using BOSS or LOOT to organize your load order? If not, try running LOOT and see if it stops crashing.
-
That's weird. The only mod I know that could cause that is Imaginator. Are you using Climates of Tamriel, Enhaced Lights and FX, Realistic Lightning Overhaul or something like that? Those mods tend to change colors drastically in some cases. Try moving somewhere else and see if the problem persist. If it does, then its working as it should. I think the Realvision ENB makes some changes to your config files, but if you deleted them, that shouldn't be a problem. Are you sure you don't have any other extra dll in your Skyrim folder? SweetFX perhaps? EDIT: I just noticed you said it happens in a clean install too. Check your graphic card control panel and reset all 3D options for skyrim, perhaps something messed up there.

Loading screen "stopped responding" temporarily.
MaxShadow09 replied to kingkong11's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Are you playing in a window or borderless? I do, and the loading screen sometimes stops responding, but it's still loading. After a while, the game starts. If your game is not starting, then you may be experiencing the "infinite loading screen". You should try the SKSE memory patch, Crash Fixes or (less recommended) SSME. -
Thats what I did, but it still doesn't work :/ Anyway, I installed "Crash fixes" by meh321, as darstyler suggested in another thread. It comes with its own memory patch, which apparently replaces the Skyrim memory allocation system completely with a regular C malloc, so there aren't blocks, and the game should not reach a memory limit. It seems to be working, as MemoryBlocksLog only shows two lines and then stops reporting. The game is running pretty fine now, perhaps even better than before with SSME. If anyone wants to give it a try, here's the link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/? For the memory patch you'll also need this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75795/?

My skyrim installation has around 400 mods :v It has random crashes, but that's another problem. If I don't use SSME, the game freezes on the first loading screen, and MemoryBlocksLog reports that the game is hitting the 256 limit. With SSME it doesn't happen. Also, I used a tool to reduce the size of all the textures in my data folder to a maximum of 2K. About reinstalling mods, I recommend you to use a mod manager like Mod Organizer or Nexus Mod Manager. It makes things much easier.
-
Hi people. I was using SSME so far, but I heard that it is outdated and redundant because SKSE already includes a memory patch. So, I added the lines to SKSE.ini, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I get infinite loading screens without SSME, and when I look at the MemoryBlocksLog, it says both blocks are 256mb, the default size. When I use SSME instead, it says 768MB and 640MB (the values I set in SSME.ini). I'm using the latest Skyrim version, with SKSE 1.7.3. Do I have to do anything else to enable the patch? This is my SKSE.ini:
-
Are you sure the ENB is not working? Press shift+enter to open the config screen, and untick "UseEffect" to see if anything changes. Perhaps your ENB is too subtle to notice, or you didn't install the preset correctly.
-
I think the latest versions of SKSE include that memory patch, but I'm not sure. I'm using both right now. It's pretty hard to troubleshoot crashes in skyrim, the devs never gave us the proper tools to do that. The game just closes, without even saying what went wrong before crashing. Papyrus logs don't show anything useful either. My game crashes too, but I'm accustomed to it. Having ENB effects increases the chance of crashing for me. I usually start disabling some mods to make the game a bit more stable, but after a while it will start crashing again. That's the price of having more than 400 mods.
-
Are you using ENBoost and SSME?? Skyrim uses a 32 bits executable, and if you start installing mods, the 3GB limit will make the game crash. It could also be related to incompatibilities between mods or script errors. The engine used in bethesda games is pretty unstable.
-
Make sure you have disabled Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering and FXAA (make a backup of your load order files before opening the Skyrim Launcher!). Also, open enblocal.ini and make sure you have this: UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false UseDefferedRendering=true and in enbseries.ini you have: UseEffect=true

I somehow broke my Skyrim installation...
MaxShadow09 replied to DerellLicht's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Don't pay attention to the missing ID, that happens when NMM can't get the info from that file, because you downloaded it manually, or perhaps it just can't find that file on the site. It won't affect anything. -
I somehow broke my Skyrim installation...
MaxShadow09 replied to DerellLicht's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
As Oubliette said, crash at startup usually happens because of two reasons: - Missing masters - More than 255 active plugins If you're using NMM, go to your plugin list, and see if there's any of them with red font. That means it needs another plugin as master, but it doesn't exist in your data folder. If there's any with yellow font, that means that some of its masters are disabled. I think the game loads those masters even if you disable them. If you have more than 255 active plugins, you should see the active plugins number in red (in NMM). If you don't have more than 255 active plugins, but you're near the limit, perhaps there are some disabled masters, and the game is loading them anyway (making you hit the limit). That happened to me once in Fallout 4, when I merged a plugin with many masters. Keep in mind that opening the vainilla Skyrim Launcher sometimes enables all your plugins. I suggest you make a backup of your plugin list files before doing that. -
Struggling to use Mod organiser and and steam workshop
MaxShadow09 replied to fireflavio's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Mod Organizer installs mods in a separate folder, not in the Skyrim data folder. When you launch the game, or another tool from MO, it creates a link between the skyrim data folder and the mod files. Anything you run outside MO won't "see" those files. Also, don't use the vainilla launcher unless you want to change game settings. I also recommend you making a backup of your load order files before opening the Skyrim Launcher, because sometimes it enables all your disabled plugins (making your game crash if you have more than 255 active). Only change load order with Mod Organizer, and launch the game from there.
