  1. Hey Nexus Community! I'm doing a data science study with my University that involves comparing life happiness with housing happiness and a few other variables to create a predictive model on whether or not a person should buy new living accommodations based on how happy it will make them. We need at least 100 surveys filled out by Tuesday so it would be great if you could take a few minutes of your time to fill out the survey. I'll post the link below. Thanks for taking the time to read this and considering our survey! https://goo.gl/forms/l7asqkKhXeNRF17B2 Thanks again, if you have any questions about the survey or the data science study it is being used for feel free to reach out to me!
  2. Awesome thanks, I'll go ahead and post it there! And yeah it's for a Data Science Study run by my University. We're trying to create a metric that will help people predict whether or not purchasing a new living accommodation will make them happier and need data points to base the original model off of.
  3. Hey Nexus, it's been a while. So I've created a Google Forms Survey that I need to get a minimum of 100 responses for by Tuesday for a College Data Science Course that I am in right now... And I was wondering if it is okay to post links to surveys in the "Off Topic" section of Nexus? I couldn't find anything in the rules about it so I thought I'd post here to check with someone. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, and I totally understand if it's not cool to post surveys here. Just thought I'd check :) - Airtight
  4. Thanks! I just tried this as well as dusting off my computer box/shell and had a good hour long CK session. Fingers crossed it keeps working. Also: I installed a program to monitor how close my computer is to overheating, so hopefully I'll catch it before it gets to close again if the problem persists, or at least be able to figure out what in CK causes the excessive strain on my computer. Thanks for the help everyone!
  5. I'm guessing it must be overheating since I've been using the CK without problems for three years, having upgraded my graphic card once a year ago. Is there any way to monitor when the computer might be close to overheating and shutting down?
  6. So, over these last couple days I've encountered a terrible problem with creation kit... I have about 300 or so hours put into the CK and I'm using the same computer I always have so I am not sure what the issue is. The only difference is that I recently completely reinstalled Skyrim and the CK. Basically after I have been modding for about 20-30 minutes my entire computer reboots itself. It only happens when using CK. I can play Skyrim fine, I can do other work from home just fine for hours on end. But for some reason the creation kit causes my entire computer to reboot. If anyone has any ideas regarding how I could fix this, that would be amazing! Thanks! - AirtightSpring
  7. Thanks for the reply! I'll try to get some pictures when I get home to my computer with creation kit but basically what is happening is when I load up the vanilla cell for the house everything is loaded. For example, lets say I am looking at the right side of the house. Every item for all three possible upgrades is loaded in the creation kit. This makes it almost impossible to actually edit any of the individual rooms because every room and item that can possibly at some point be upgraded or bought by the player is loaded. Lets say I want to edit the kitchen. Doing so is very difficult when the armory is also present... So I guess my main question is, is there any way to disable the two rooms that I do not want to edit so I am just viewing one room per side of the house?
  8. I'm trying to modify the interior of the Hearthfire homes to my liking. The problem is when you load it up the markers for all three possible rooms show up for all the side rooms. I am wondering how I can easily disable these rooms in the creation kit. For example, lets say I want to edit the armory. How would I disable the other two rooms without individually hiding each of the other items and without deleting the items in the other two rooms. Thanks for any assistance you can give! - AirtightSpring
  9. And if I do that I'll be able to easily get all the scripts back and attached to what they are supposed to be when I load the mod up on a reinstalled Skyrim? Also by attach all the scripts to something can you explain exactly what you mean? I'm assuming I'm supposed to somehow put them all into one activator like you said above but I'm not quite sure how to do that... Sorry but thanks for all the help!
  10. Thanks! Any chance you could explain to me how to do that? I haven't actually released my mods before so I have never created a bsa for my mods before...
  11. I'm trying to package a mod I've been working on so that the scripts I've written are saved in the mod as is and find a way to store all my progress in a separate folder so I can safely uninstall and reinstall Skyrim without having to rewrite all of my scripts. I'm running a bunch of outdated mods and can't get my game to run stable so I've decided to restart but I want to get this done first. Does anyone have any idea how I could get my mod saved with its scripts still intact saved to another location? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! - Airtight
  12. Thanks a bunch! I didn't know to look in the HighResTexturePack02 for the texture files.
  13. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could let me know where to find the Dawnguard LOD texture files? I found the meshes in Dawnguard.bsa but the textures don't seem to be there? Is there anything I need to do differently for getting the Dawnguard LOD to work (I want it for the Fort Dawnguard buildings that I've placed in a custom world) for my file? Thanks for any help you can give!
  15. So I am trying to make a script that stops combat between two actors (neither of which are the player) after 30 minutes in game time. I have no experience with timer scripts prior to this and was wondering if anyone could give me a brief tutorial on how to get them working? Sorry if this is vague but nothing I've done seems to have any effect on the game... Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Airtight
  16. Alright, I think I am going to go ahead with the quest focused approach. Don't worry, there may be more custom voiced follower opportunities during the mod, it's just none will have thousands upon thousands of lines of dialogue. I've been making pretty good progress, but mostly just implementing voice lines and finishing up packaging. I'll make a new post with a flashy new mod name and some more descriptive info sometime in the near future though!
  17. Anyone else got any opinions? I really would love to hear them! Right now I am personally leaning towards story-based but It'd be great to hear what you all have to say, you could always convince me otherwise!
  18. Thanks for the input! I'm really looking forward to playing your mod LordBound when it comes out. I'm definitely excited to work with episode based stories as it will allow me to take the player to a variety of places, with a bunch of changing characters and a few reoccurring ones. I'm definitely leaning towards the switch to a story focused mod right now. I definitely see why more people would enjoy a good story focused mod, and so far I have enjoyed making the story of Arasdir more than I have the follower. So it is very likely that I will make the switch, thanks for your feedback!
  19. Hello everyone, I would like to reach out to the community for my WIP mod: Arasdir Crassus. I decided to create a new post for this because I want to catch the interest of people who have looked at my previous post, but are uninterested in the mod. You see, I am leaning towards changing the purpose and focus of the mod and would like feedback to see if the idea is well received. I know there are many amazing custom voiced followers out there, and there are also those people who are uninterested in using new followers. That combined with the fact that my voice actor I had been working with for Arasdir has fallen out of contact for the last two weeks. I also am shorter on time than I originally thought I would be. College is tough and gives a lot of work, and some days after working on a tough computer science assignment I just don't have the energy in me to do any more work on computers. All of these facts lead to my conclusion: I would like to change the focus of my mod from a follower based on to a story based one. The mod would still involve the story of Arasdir and the mysterious Traveler as I was orignally planning. However I would now focus more on providing a good episodic story, and less on providing a custom voiced follower. Time allowing, I would still like to offer Arasdir as a follower at the end of the quest-line depending on player choice and ending, and possibly allow for a few other characters to be followers as well. I feel taht This approach will allow players to invest time into a story where they come to care about characters, make important choices, and at the end of the day be rewarded for the work they did, or face the consequences of their actions. If the player doesn't like Arasdir as a character, they shouldn't be forced into being rewarded with his presence as a follower. There should be tangible rewards for those who don't like playing with followers, even if it means less of a focus on the follower aspect of the mod. If I change the path of the mod, I would plan to release it in sections as I get it done. Kind of like a new game in a series being released after months of work. Each "episode" would feature a stand-alone quest line and a few quests linked to the overarching story, all of which tie into player choices that affect the smaller episodic stories, and the overall story. So basically what I am asking is; is there interest in this concept? Or would sticking with Arasdir be a better option? Please let me know what you think in both the poll above and the comments below. Thanks for taking time out of your day to read this long post! Also here is a link to my original post if you are not sure what the mod "Arasdir" is about as it stands right now: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3220084-arasdir-custom-follower-and-your-new-slightly-strange-best-friend-wip/ - Airtight
  20. Haha I sure wish that was the case. College is really beating me up at the moment, figuratively speaking of course.
  21. Update: Alright so I have been swamped with homework this weekend, much more so than I thought I would be and I have yet another two midterms next week... So as you might guess I won't be making nearly as much progress as I would like. But I almost have all the packages up and running. Stay tuned for more info and thanks for listening.
  22. Glad to hear it! It'll be a little while but hopefully it turns out well when the time comes :)
  23. Alright I think I fixed those two problems I was having earlier in the process of making packages. Now I'm back to making packages for the NPCs, two of them have fully fleshed out daily schedules and the other five have quite a pit of their day done, I only two more difficult packages to make so I hope it won't take too much longer. I got a little sidetracked today with a very depressing side project, I reopened my old partially finished Sortanic Isles mod for fun to see if I could somehow fix my old LOD problem and... Nope, I still hate LOD more than anything else I have ever encountered in any designing anything... Looks like I'll never be adding a large open worldspace to any mod I make. Unless LOD generation becomes a more widely known or more sense-making process. Ugh, well enough of my rant, I should hopefully do a lot of package work on my day off tomorrow. Then I'll get to finally getting all my lines working with the first two quests. Hopefully after that I'll get a video to show you all. Stay tuned!
  24. Just a quick update on my progress. Been working more and more on story with some voice actors. Also been learning a lot about packaging, it's taking longer than I thought but it's all turning out pretty well. I'm also making the exterior cell for the Brotherhood of Talos and will get pictures to you guys when I'm done. Hopefully I'll have a bunch of good voice samples for Arasdir himself that I can show to you guys next week, his VA is getting new equipment in and I know it's gonna sound great. Thanks for your continued interest in the mod and I hope everyone enjoys Fallout this week, the wait is almost over.
  25. Thanks, I try my best :) Update for Everyone: I have got the new additions to the cell Navmeshed, written out the entire story for Episode 1 including FIVE endings! I also am beginning to understand packages, as it stands the entire Brotherhood of Talos meets and eats dinner together, and each member properly sandboxes during free time. I still want to make each member be doing something specific for most of the day, for example, the cook will cook for the hour before every meal, the hunter will train sometimes and go out hunting for about six hours a day, the two guards will switch duties half way through the day, and the leader will spend much of the day sitting on this throne.
