  1. I doubt Valve will remove this entirely.
  2. It seems from reading different people's posts, people have already forgotten Valve's policy on creative commons theft. I'm sorry, but the majority of modders have removed/hidden their content due to Valve OFFICIALLY saying anything that is uploaded ANYWHERE for free is fair game to be used in a paid mod. Stop pretending that can be ignored and it will just magically go away. Please research before you speak - to those that form these opinions of "it will solve itself." When has Valve EVER just solved a problem itself without backlash first?
  3. Have people already forgotten the "fair game" tag Valve put on free mods to be stolen? This is why there is no hope of getting past this if one side keeps brushing off the other side's concerns. MAJORITY of modders who removed/hid their content did so due to Valve's policy on creative commons theft. It sickens me that people blame anti-paywall users for this, and completely ignore the debacle that Valve and Bethesda have caused.
  4. http://wccftech.com/valve-employee-completely-wrong/ So this is good news. Valve needs to re-examine their monetizing schemes. The current implementation is horrible. Paywalls can still work, but this is one of the worst ways to make it work. Improve or abandon, don't let it flounder like greenlight and early access.
  5. http://wccftech.com/valve-employee-completely-wrong/ This was more than just about Skyrim, you know. They started with Skyrim because it already sold all the copies that it would probably sell, beyond a few hundred here and there for really, really cheap. It's not an overreaction when you're trying to fight to keep gaming from becoming DLC after DLC after DLC.
  6. I myself have been a fan to the flame. One thing is sure, the mod community is now split, it's almost like in Skyrim. The problem is, trying to come here, or on beth's forums doesn't help. It's apparently too soon to mend this wound. There's always one person who will reignite the flame. I'm definitely no better than you in that I myself act out of spite of something. The death of Skyrim modding is not going to be because free modders turned to paid modders, it's going to be because the community is fast losing interest in the game. I even quit playing Skyrim. I moved on to other games where the communities are not constantly at each other's throats. The sad truth is, this game was once a bastion of escape, where people could worry-free remove themselves from their troubles. Now it's just another emotional toll. This is why I hate the paywall, and I hate Valve. I mean, the more people argue, the more entrenched and alienated the sides become. People who think they're being a voice of reason on either side end up giving more ammunition to everyone.
  7. The current paywall system needs a lot of work. It CAN be improved to make sense, unfortunately like project greenlight and early access, Valve just abandons it soon as it becomes a problem. At best, Paywall can be like third-party sellers on Amazon. Still risky, but only as an annoyance.
  8. I underlined the hypocritical part in case my previous post wasn't clear enough. Actually none of what you said was clear. It was obviously said to get a reaction. This is not a protest, I just don't want to see all the hate, so I am taking a leave of absence. I do make mods, and I don't feel butthurt about some people wanting to make money. I just see this as a change, that will probably not go anywhere, but I am tired of looking at it. So no, sorry, I will not rise to your bait and flame you and then get banned. I don't think you are worth it. I don't think that "The internets iz serious bizness". And I don't want to look at hateful things. I could continue this discussion, but really, what would be the point. You don't have a cohesive argument, and I am not going to be able to change your mind, so there is nothing for it. If you can't see your own hypocrisy, then I can't say I'm surprised. But if you feel it is warranted to continue insulting people while complaining about other people being insulted, then that's on you. I can only stop to question you "do you really think it's fair to target those you don't agree with and not self-reflect in the process?" But it's your call.
  9. I guess you have a short-term memory. You came in here saying this community is a joke, insulting people by saying no one here is owed anything, saying you can take what you want and it is of no importance, LYING about giving full credit to what you have taken from this apparently useless non-community which is here just to provide you resources, insulting and name-calling people, then you cry "GUARDS, GUARDS" soon as you get some flak back. You are the epitome of rancid troll. Continue calling people retarded, it is totally not defeating any moral ground you already did not have any of. EDIT: You also fail at reading. When did I say you sold the mod? I said I was going to sell the mod I'm making about you. So the retard can read better than you? Ouch.
  10. Yes - spending a minor part of the video saying "yeah maybe this is a bad idea" then the rest paying tribute to the few good paid mods while making fun of ever anti-paid mod aspect and painting the ENTIRE anti-paywall community as a bunch of welfare bandits is completely a fair observation. Meanwhile, saying "stop insulting people" while insulting people completely has no bearing to the person saying it. So far, three people here are convinced it's okay to insult one side only. One of them is Gopher.
  11. I underlined the hypocritical part in case my previous post wasn't clear enough.
  12. In the other thread, you hit the report button and then proceeded to use immature language. In this thread you insult everyone and call people "retard." You're such a child. Maybe Maverick that Baby Khajiit.
  13. It is not the most fair judgement to call people out then say if that upsets anyone else that we are part of the problem, when you yourself are doing that. But they are your mods, so do as you wish.
  14. Hey maverick, that resource pack you stole, you didn't make that. You can dance around the issue all you want, though. It's hilarious watching you call people entitled when you try to defend your entitlement of theft. Hi-lary-us. I think I'll make a Maverick the Khajiit thief mod. Haha, yeah that's what I'll do. Start charging at a penny. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2803289-maverick-the-khajiit-thief/
  15. Y'all got a source for that, champ? Cause it's a violation of their license agreement, and directly opposite what Gabe has said. Sounds more like that 'STEAM WATCHES YOU SLEEP AND STEALS YOUR INFO' nonsense from when Skyrim first launched. http://steamed.kotaku.com/skyrim-modder-considers-quitting-after-steam-controvers-1700077114 Next time do some research before putting your foot in your mouth by trying to belittle and demean me with stupid comments. Call it nonsense, if it helps you sleep at night. Your sig does not give you an excuse to skip out on finding information. Just because you think you're intelligent doesn't mean you're a valid source of information on any subject matter beyond yourself, "champ." Don't take text on a forum so personal. Oh but he can talk down to people, though. I just should accept it and move on, eh? Lot of that going around.

  17. Thank you for this list. I will be avoiding all of these authors, except for SkyUI which there is no alternative to at the moment. Should anyone make an alternative, I'll be all over that.
  18. That is patently false. The terms of modding on Steam have ALWAYS been that mods WILL be removed if they are posted without permission of their original maker. They've even removed mods that use limited content from other mods without that modders permission. I suppose you choose to completely ignore Valve's official position of "if it's free somewhere, it's fair game in paywall."
  19. not always would be preferable to never. Just checking to make sure I'm not invisible.
  20. I brought this up in chat. Got ignored, just like every time I ever go into chat. Can anyone see me? Am I dead?
  21. You want to be careful. Bethesda and Valve knew this was a toxic idea before it was released. They know by now it's one of the most-hated things in recent gaming memory. Honestly, right now it's best to let them decide on a response. You toe over a red line and start pushing Valve and/or Bethesda and it's just going to make a bigger problem. I think the piracy of the paid mods was a horrible idea. It is just going to reinforce both Bethesda and Valve in thinking they need to make it exclusive to Steam. This won't stop piracy, but it will end TES on Nexus.
  22. Yeah you kinda do owe us mod authors. But wait, don't get mad! you owe a "Thank you." when you get a mod you enjoy. Just the polite thing to do. A "Thank you.". You don't owe anyone money and that's OK, Donations? Reserve those for a mod that makes you excited an, those mods that make you say "Wow, this is incredible!" and if you can't afford to donate then tell the author you love the mod and that you apologize for not being able to donate. If they are decent they will be happy with that but if they are a jerk about it then be glad you couldn't pay someone to be a jerk. EDIT: I just realized I'm making it sound like I'm talking directly to you. Sorry about that. It's just the language directed at this new workshop, not specifically to you. Please understand that. It's NOT about the money. People think paying for mods will cause people to stop playing them. It will just increase piracy, it won't stop the mods from being popular. It's how Valve and Bethesda are treating this right now. 75 cents off the dollar? Content piracy off free mods? Yes, we should say thank you, sir, may I have another. If you got into modding to make money off those mods, 4 years are about to pay off.... not. It's not like Bethesda banned profit off mods up until 4/23/15 or anything... I mean, I get it man, you want compensation. Not going to fault you for that. But why would I pay Bethesda for a mod you make? Or Valve? Especially if you steal someone else's content or piggy-back of that content that is free in the first place and ESPECIALLY after the mod has been free for years prior to. Skyrim was the wrong game to introduce this with. I stand with mod creators who agree this is horrible and that people going into this both creators and buyers are really gullible. I'd much rather just pay you under the table. Too bad you haven't created a mod I want to use... If you need two lawyers and an MBA to make a mod, you're doing it wrong.
  23. More games are coming out using the same system. I don't know if any of their developers are as fickle as Bethesda with their horrible rates and policies, but this is bad. This is here to stay. Goodbye good quality free content. I know a lot of good authors said their stuff will remain free but for how long when people can leech off their work and upload it for paid section and not be forced to take it down since Valve said if it was uploaded for free to begin with, it's fair game.
