  1. Could you tell me which of the following mods have been rolled into EW (e.g. enemy randomisation I believe is one?) and which ones would be compatible if that is not the case? Basically just a few ease-of-use and small tweaks I'd like: From XCOM Interface and Gameplay Tweaks: No Disappearing Corpses Hunker Down and Overwatch Delays Display Soldier XP, PsiXP and Mobility in Barracks and in Battle Remove Death Animation Delay Geoscape Pause on Notifications From Random Alien Pods: Maps Reused (a config file basically that works alongside Random Alien Pods).
  2. Thank you! That's brilliant. Will try it later, but it sounds right - also it is clearly not something I would have managed being little more than a layman when it comes to modding. I didn't know how to break it to Dubious earlier that he might be holding on a looong time for me to form my own solution based on his info, and to thus provide the necessary text for an eventual wiki entry....so you helped out there too! I suppose you could code something up that allows such fixed settings for all the customization options? Personally I need nothing more, but it might be something others want (literally firing up the cloning vats...at least I can pretend my soldiers look different under the helmets!). Many thanks once again.
  3. I read the article and looked into the file, but I'm at a loss as to what to change. That's for loadouts and not customization options as far as I can tell?...
  4. Wasn't sure where to post this, but is it possible, perhaps with some ini file even, to change the default appearance/armor color of soldiers? I like to have my soldiers all look the same, I have no wish to change their gender either way, or race etc, but I like them all to wear the same helmet and color scheme for example, and it's very annoying to do this each time manually. So is there any way to make this easier?
  5. Ok thanks for that. I thought it was like that, but obviously too late. So, these hosts file changes, now that I will add in the EU portion, are also as surefire a way as OFFLINE mode is on steam right? Or is there still a chance of things being bypassed and steam/EU/EW forcing their updates on me? If so, at least I can avoid patch 3, if and when they get around to it.

I followed the procedure detailed here: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Steam_and_mods Specifically just the EW portion of it and edited my host file and saved appropriately etc. I seem to have gotten the latest EW patch 2 regardless. Hard to be sure, but it seems that way, for example opening up toolboks 1.6.4 just now tells me I have Changelist 401776 when it expected Changelist 398180. Does that mean I've definitely been upgraded to the latest patch? In-game clues seem to be telling me so, for example my death animations being wonky again when I had the 'fix' for this via the remove death delay mod. I did notice my 'EU' was updated on steam when the patch came out, but I assumed at the time that EW was untouched due to the host file changes... My hosts file just has this added as per the article: # Prevent Steam from Phoning Home for XCOM 127.0.0.1 prod.xcom-ew.firaxis.com 127.0.0.1 65.118.245.139 Did I need to have the EU portion re-routing itself like this aswell? The article seemed to suggest otherwise with the line at the end: The XCOM-EW expansion is proof that other DNS and IP addresses can be utilized by the same or different games. Care should be taken to check the Launch.log file as outlined above for changes with each patch or major release. I'd like to know if I messed up and how to ensure patches occur at my direction in future. Also, any way to revert to patch 1, if indeed I've been updated?...

  8. Couple of queries/requests: 1) Is it possible to put back into rotation maps such as: Museum, Museum_Euro, Demolition, which have apparently been removed from EW's possible maps. I think there might be some more, ufopaedia/Hobbes on the 2k forums knows better than I, but those 3 are the ones I remember. 2) Is it possible to have the slingshot/progeny maps come up in standard rotation, where appropriate, especially if you toggle them off? No point wasting good maps is how I see it.
