  1. Yeah, I'll do that in a bit. I need to get my load order now written down. Last time I used BOSS it moved things into sub-optimal places.
  2. Well--and this makes it even more frustrating--I *did* test them. I created a test character and added mods one by one on him before moving on to my real play-through. I spent more than a week of heavy playing just trying mods out. And I never had this! Then I start my real character and things are going fine. Then suddenly I can't scale High Hrothgar without a CTD.
  3. That's the thing. I haven't installed any mods recently--or I've installed every mod recently. I started playing about ten hours ago and haven't added any mods since. I was having occasional CTDs at the start, but nothing really bothersome (it'd happen maybe once every couple of hours if I played that long). Now it's all the time.
  4. I've been getting CTDs about every ten minutes. It's ruining the game. How do I find out what's causing the problem?
  5. @Ripple: I tried using the TES5edit approach and it didn't work either. You can actually find me asking for help in that forum too: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/904953-how-to-merge-multiple-mods-with-multiple-master-files/page-11 I'm not that close to the 255 limit (I'm at about 150), but I'd like to keep my load more manageable, and I imagine that it's better to load fewer esps even if you're loading the same amount of data. Maybe I'm wrong on the last part, but I'd still like to have fewer files to sort through when I'm adjusting my load order, or looking for a file to load in TES5 or the CK.
  6. Nope, didn't edit that. Didn't do anything except what I described.
  7. OK this may take some time to explain. Here's the tl;dr: I moved items from one mod into another, everything's hunky-dory *except* that the new items have no model in menu. It's annoying. Here's what I want. I want to use lots of different mods that add individual items, but I don't want to use dozens of esps to get all the items I want. Here's what I've done: So far, I've managed to merge the titular items from Daedric Armblades and Nightingale Crossbow into CALYPS ODPM - Craftable Open Dragon Priest Masks. I did this by 1. Opening up the CK, loading those two mods and setting ODPM as the active file 2. Duplicating the respective items and their recipes and 3. Altering the duplicate recipes so that they create the duplicate item. And that works great except that the duplicated items have no menu model. When you look at them in menu--or when trying to create them--there's nothing there. So, I must have missed a step. But what?
  8. Wow, I'm having a really hard time getting this to work. I can't get more than 2 or 3 mods to merge before Skyrim CTDs on startup. And I'm trying to merge armor mods! Here's the mods I'm trying to merge: A Perfect Assassin Daedric Armblades Assassin's creed nightingale retexture Craftable Open Dragon Priest Masks Bandoliers Equipment Of Eternal Shine Project Flintlock Magicka Sabers Mask of Blades Medusa Drakul armors Night Blood Armor NG Crossbow 1-handed Crossbow Silver Dragon Armor Tribal Might Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I've tried merging just a few at a time and managed to merge the armblades and open face dragon priest mods together, but every other combination has been unstable and only a few let me even boot up the game. What's up?
  9. Well, I managed to find a work around. I'll post it here in case anyone else is having the same problems. The whole dang fix: Install either the "normal" or "health percentage" version of simple lockpicking (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26490). This won't satisfy everyone since 1) it will remove all the stuff from the left-hand side of the screen (everything except lock level and remaining picks), and 2) it will add lockpick gradation marks over the lock, and thus make lockpicking much easier. That's fine by me since 1) you don't really need the stuff on the left anyway and 2) I find lockpicking annoying and want to spend as little time on it as possible. Also, since there's no esp in simple lockpicking, most any other gradation markings mod will overwrite simple lockpicking's markings while retaining the lock level and remaining lockpick indicators. For instance I use lockpick measurement vision: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=68168026 and I get the blue markings from that mod with the subtle notifications in the right hand corner. :) If you don't want the gradation markings and can find a retex of the standard lock, that would prolly have the same result (excluding, of course, the markings), but I hate lockpicking, so I haven't tried.
  10. I googled this problem and all I got was this one post. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2864546 Here's a screenshot from that post, and it's the same problem I'm having. http://i.imgur.com/apAdv.jpg Anyways, I get all the stuff in the left hand corner but nothing on the right hand corner. (And no it's not because of screen resolution in this case either.) I'm wondering if the problem stems from using either lock overhauls or one of the lock measurement mods. (Specifically lockpick graduation http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6594/), but from the screenshots there I can see that's not always the case. Please help, this is going to drive me nuts, if I can't get it fixed.
  11. I might have to do that, but I'd like to customize it. I'm not allergic to menus manually editing files, but I just don't know what the options mean.
  12. I have no idea what I'm even looking at. Does anyone have a guide? Or a readme file? I'm decently computer literate, but I have no idea what most of these these options mean. What's the difference between "wait" and "continue" is with respect to "loading options?" And what does "Programs priority" mean? Does that mean everything but skyrim? And how about "explorer options," "Steam options," Steam pause" and "logo options?" Nothing. I'm just baffled.
  13. Hi, I'm sure this has been asked before but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Anyways: how many perks per level would you guys recommend for Skyre? If gameplay style matters, I'm thinking I'll play primarily as a spell sword. I'm not using skyre races and I'm playing as a Dark elf. Also, I am using better vampires and playing as one. Thanks.
  14. An evil character of some sort. I haven't yet worked out his motives yet, but I played skyrim on my xbox (RIP) as a white knight and oblivion as a noble thief, so I figured it's time for something different. Also, I want to fight against the dawnguard this time. I'll probably play an as elf and most likely as a dark elf since they're the oppressed faction in skyrim.
  15. I just ordered Skyrim and I'm looking for some quest mods, but I'm pretty picky. I just can't stand silent NPCs: it totally breaks my immersion and calls attention to the fact that I'm playing something that isn't part of the real game. I just can't deal with it. So, anyone got any recs for mods that 1. Have narratives that are driven and explained via, scrolls, books, letters etc. OR 2. Are fully voice acted. AND PREFERABLY 3. Decently voice acted and recorded (I care more about the latter; it's pretty immersion breaking when an NPC sounds like he's in a garage despite standing in the open air). PS. Please don't tell me that I should learn to read. It's on my bucket list. I will get to it. And, yes, I'm not a real rpg player and I hate the classics because I have no imagination. I know this, so you don't need to say that either. I'm just looking for recs, not explanations as to the magnitude of my suckage.
