Need help maybe finding specific mod
bobofudd replied to OrphanStomper's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Isn't the weapon and armor level already determined by crafting and enchantment ability? Not sure why anyone would want to change that system. I had a blast maintaining all my weapons and updating them when I could boost my stats in some way. It was even tied into alchemy and the ingredients you could find to make higher powered potions. -
I would rather see Bethesda keep pushing forward and see what they can get their games to do instead of revisiting old games as a template. The way I see it, it could go several different ways. If they continue to push for larger sandbox style games then I would suggest to them keeping the player character creation open and let the player use their imagination. Focus on the world and how the player interacts with it. Fallout 4 settlements are a good example of this. I have almost 1300 hours out of one playthrough and I haven't even finished the main story, which honestly, isn't all that interesting. I love building. It brings out the creative side in me. If they choose to focus on character and story, then they need to start working some overtime because Witcher 3 set the bar so high that everything should and will be compared to it in the future. I just finished the dlc for it and Blood and Wine was larger than most regular games out there. I was impressed. But at the same time though it wasn't a Bethesda style game and I started to realize it really wasn't fair to compare them too closely because they're not the same type of game even though they both are labeled open world rpgs. Now that I've returned to Fallout 4 again I kind of feel as if the game fell short of either direction it could have taken. Building settlements was good but could have been better planned and executed. The dlc was ok and added some great stuff to the game but it seems that should have been there from the beginning, I'll agree with those who think the dlc could have introduced bigger story lines. The main story really didn't capture my attention for long since as soon as I started to build settlements the game became about rebuilding the Commonwealth instead of finding my son. Maybe they should have just focused on the rebuilding the Commonwealth. I would prefer the open world sandbox style game direction. Bethesda is good at creating worlds and it's definitely fun to explore them using my own imagination. I have returned to a single game several times for both Skyrim and Fallout 4 while I played through Witcher 3 once and haven't felt the desire to return, as impressive as the game was.

If you have the dlc you could always use the barn or warehouse walls which are higher than a generator. Concrete walls stack and you can make those as high as you want. The base game walls can be built up several levels and then remove the flooring in between them after you're done.
-
Even if they do, it'll probably be a decade or so away from now. I understand their need to stretch their creative muscles a bit but getting a game title from them that we all love once a decade isn't going to work very well. I'm not getting any younger.

So are TES games about to change fundamentally?
bobofudd replied to davidwalshireland's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
As far as I understand, Bethesda released Skyrim SE because they had already ported the original to practice using the updated engine that was created for Fallout 4. We don't have TES6 yet because they have other projects they want to do first. It'll be a while. As for Bethesda games changing, each one they've released has been different. They aren't afraid to try new things. I expect the next one to be a little different as well. Now whether or not they can perfect the things they introduce remains to be seen... I think M'aiq summed it up best when he said he thought it was best to adventure alone. No one likes fighting over the treasure. -
Well, I thought I'd go ahead and take the poll since I could be the only person that chose High Elf. Not sure why I went that route since High Elf ended up being the hated race in Skyrim. Didn't know that at the time of creation. It turned out to be an interesting side effect though as I felt neutral to the civil war and felt as if my character was there to balance out the universe with all the bad things the Thalmor have done. Closing in on level 80, my character is a complete badass and I love it. Still in Oldrim for now, but I'm planning on replaying the character again in SE once I see some more mods make the move to SE.

It all depends whether or not you like to build things. Yes, the story could've been better but I got about 1200 hours out of it before the settlement stats glitch started wearing me down. I'm only about halfway through the main story so I may go back to it. Running around keeping settlements going and upgrading them seemed to hold my interest long enough. Mods, of course, made it even more fun and interesting.

If we really wanted to get our hopes up we could wish for a remastered UI along with our remastered game so we wouldn't need SkyUI. I want to play the remastered version but not having certain mods updated might be kind of painful.

Help! I have lost a mod and cannot find it!
bobofudd replied to johnthepatriot's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
There was a mod called FCO or Fully Customizable Outfits that separated vanilla outfits into pieces but it's been hidden for a while now. -
I tend to play Bethesda games the same way and so far I've been pretty successful in each one as far as making enough money to support myself. It usually starts with finding all the perks/abilities that max out your carrying weight as well as anything that will give you the advantage when buying and selling. Every fight I encounter and every bad guy killed, I'll take every item I can possibly carry then take it to the nearest merchant and unload. If you stay in this habit from the very beginning, you will be fairly wealthy midpoint in the game. It's not hard but rather tedious and sometimes annoying. In FO4, I think I'm at 250K bottle caps but I buy a lot of building supplies so it should be higher. When I played Skyrim, I think I had around 1.4 million gold. It was pointless after a while once I learned how to make expensive potions and weapons. Just too easy.

CTD On startup, CTD on death, CTD when I restart the game
bobofudd replied to Gurvemeh's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
There's always a reason why it would crash repeatedly. There's now over 13,000 mods for FO4 and any two mods combined could lead to problems or crashes. You're not likely to get a quick answer to your problem because we really don't know any details to help narrow down what the problem might be. We don't know anything about your cpu setup so how could anyone answer? A good place to start would be to disable all mods and check to see if the game works. Then slowly add a few back at a time and check again to see if the game works. Keep doing that until you run into the problem and that should at least narrow it down to which mod or mods it could be. I'm not the best problem solver here but I'll try to answer some of your questions the best I can. Yes, it could be the mods or it could be the main files of the game or both. There could be too many but I know many people here have more installed so I wouldn't say it's the amount but rather a mod or two which could be incompatible with each other. We have no idea what you have for a cpu. Yes. Some mods are incompatible with each other, especially ones that mod the same thing. It's always best to make sure you've fully read the details, instructions and even the forums for a mod to see if there are reports with mods having issues with other things. Yes. Some mods require dlc and that falls into reading the details and instructions as stated above. You didn't really state whether or not it had worked at all with all the mods being installed. I think the game was just updated so that may have messed things up. Check your mods for updates too. It could be anything but your best bet would be to disable all mods then enable a few at a time to narrow down the cause. And these questions go on daily here in all the different sections of the forum. Did you even look through the forums? -
I would go for something like this. It would definitely help with figuring out why your settlers walk into poles and get stuck when they could easily just walk around it. A toggle button would be nicer to have so you could see the NavMesh anywhere in the game and not just settlements.
-
I don't fully level settlements either. I'll scrap all the junk or debris that I find and leave stuff like trees to make it still feel natural. I've been tempted to get the mods that give you access to everything but for some reason I haven't and I've tried to build up settlements using mostly stuff from the vanilla game and dlcs. I'll get mods that give specific things I'm looking for, especially pieces I thought should have been included in the vanilla game (half piece walls, wooden interior doorway). It's been interesting to watch certain settlements like Sanctuary evolve over time though. Each time a dlc comes out and new materials are introduced, I'll go back and improve or rethink some parts of a settlement. One goal I always keep in mind is to make it look like it is believable and that it fits into the game. Once I get it the way I like it then I'll go to other mods like Singing Settler and Build Your Own Pool and start adding luxury things. Although lately I've been trying to track down what's been wrecking my happiness in certain settlements. I'm suspecting the Singing Settler mod is guilty because only the settlements where I've placed a singer have screwed up stats and incorrect resource numbers even though everything should be fine. And I was a little frustrated too with some of the settlements and not being able to scrap or repair certain parts like the houses in Sanctuary or Croup Manor. If I get too bored then I may get a mod to level those spots and build something new.

How To Make Settlers Go To Top Of Super High Settlments
bobofudd replied to becker1313's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I have this mod which might help a little but I don't think it will cover 50 levels. Although the author explains how it works so you might be able to make your own adjustments. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15608/? -
If you're downloading mods for FO4 make sure they are from the FO4 section of Nexus. CBBE is a body replacer for the female body ( will contain nudity). It is available for both FO4 and Skyrim. If you are trying to download a mod that requires it, then make sure you download the right version for the game you are playing. Other mods that depend on CBBE will not work correctly without it.
-
I'm not offended either. It just seems that no one knows where to officially upload them because they are in so many different categories. If someone was actually looking for a preset, it would be much easier to just go to one place and there are a lot of them.
-
Hey, has anyone been up to Graygarden? That's the place that's run by ghouls.
-
I wish there was a CBBE preset category so we could isolate and contain everyone's vision of their perfect Barbie doll. I get tired of seeing them littered throughout the different categories, even where they don't belong at all.

Adding a voice to the main character is definitely a double-edged sword. Do it well and it can really enhance a character and a great game but if you're sloppy about it then it comes off as a distraction and a burden for the player to have to constantly listen to. I think FO4 came somewhere in the middle. I play a male character and while the voice doesn't bother me, some of the lines and dialog seemed a bit off. I don't blame the actor for it but rather the direction or lack of that was given. It's hard to tell. I think I would of had a harder time with a voiced character in Skyrim. I think I was a little more invested in the character. So I 'm wondering if they continue with this in the next TES game.

I don't think I was ever confused about this until I read this thread. I always thought that if a settlement didn't have enough food or water on its own it would take from any trade routes that have been established. I know there's been several times when starting a new settlement that I didn't have enough crops on hand to get food started so I established a trade route with a settlement that I knew had the resources until I could return with the proper amount. The first thing I would suggest is to look at which settlements are failing and make sure the trade route is established and still running (or that the provisioner is still alive). If your planning on creating more settlements as you go along I would suggest not having Sanctuary do all the work though. One attack against Sanctuary would strain all of your other settlements which might be a hassle to repair. I still haven't figured out whether or not the sharing can happen among two trade routes. For example, if I have settlement A that is linked to B, then I have settlement C that is only linked to B, does settlement A and C end up sharing the same resources? You don't have any connections like that do you? Maybe is doesn't share past one link.

FO4 isn't perfect and neither is any other game ever made. Someone will always be able to find something that could have been done better. I certainly have my issues with the game but it hasn't stopped me from playing either. It comes down to whether or not you got your money's worth out of the time spent in the game. It's that simple. The only way you should be comparing the game to another directly is if it is a sequel or prequel to said game. FO4 is its own game. I feel the need to point out to those who might not be aware but every single person who has bought this game and played it is a Beth supporter whether you care to admit it or not. Because at some point your interest in the game made you purchase it and play it. There are many who regret purchasing it, and that's fine, but that's the gamble you take with every single game you buy. Beth games are no different. But why would you come to these forums and spend all of your time trying to degrade Bethesda and everything they've done? It makes you a hypocrite. If you truly felt that way you wouldn't be on these forums, or creating things with their creation kit, or even playing the game or talking about the next one. If you truly wanted to send the message to Bethesda they suck you would completely ignore everything they do. That means no posting about them, no watching trailers, and no playing or owning any of their games. They are only going to react if their sales numbers start slipping and I don't see that happening anytime soon as long they are getting all of this attention, whether it's good or bad. I find it funny how I can get 10x more hours out of a lousy Beth game than a great game from any other developer. They must be doing something right because they managed to get my money as well as your money. And to those people who are labeling people as Beth supporters or "fanboys", I hate to break the news to you but you just labeled yourself a hypocrite.

There's your problem. Of course you're going to hit a brick wall when you've already seen and experienced 100% 0f the game. I've managed to get over 1010 hours out of FO4 so far and I haven't even told Father yet if I'm on his side or against him so I haven't even seen the ending yet, nor do I care to until I'm ready to finish the game. Because as soon as I finish it, I'm sure I will completely lose interest in it. It happened with Skyrim as well. I got about 875 hours out of that game and I never sided with the Stormcloaks or Imperials because I didn't like either side so I never saw that part of the story but as soon as I finished the main quest I ended up moving to another game. I can play the same game as long as there's something to look forward to but eventually there is a time to just consider it finished and move on to one of other thousands of games to choose from. What I just don't get is people playing through the game ten times as if something else is going to happen. Doesn't the repetition and knowing what's going to happen get old?

Vault-Tec Workshop DLC Is Out - First Impressions
bobofudd replied to RaffTheSweetling's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Anyone else having trouble snapping two Overseer's windows together? I built a full atrium with the Overseer's window at the top but haven't been able to snap the Overseer's room window on the other side to put the office there. Every time I try to place the window it rotates and snaps the window 90 degrees to the side. I like building but so far this has proven to be a pain in the arse. Every idea or concept I've tried so far has been blocked. I have a feeling like the previous stuff they've released to us, that they built one vault then tore it all apart to give us the pieces to say "Here now be creative and try to put it back together again". Meanwhile the build your own vault concept turns into millions of players building the exact same thing because it's the only way it goes together. -
Who Would You Cast in a Fallout 4 movie ?
bobofudd replied to darrelhughes's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I swear I keep hearing "Lydia's" voice coming from some of the settlers. Maybe I'm just imagining things or played Skyrim for way too long, or have played FO4 for way too long. I would keep the actress who does Piper's voice in that role (Courtney Ford). I saw her in Dexter season 4. She's more than capable of it. But I'm with cossayos on that movie games tend to suck really bad so it's probably not a good idea anyways. -
Did you actually try looking through the crafting categories on the Nexus? Not sure how you could not find anything like that. It's filled with hundreds of mods like that. Here are two that I have. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6637/? - Works in interior settings but I find that npcs have a hard time navigating through it. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10163/? - This one works a lot better and had all of the exact pieces I was looking for that should have been in the vanilla game from the very beginning. If you look under the Crafting - Home/Settlement categories you will find even more mods that offer even more varieties including wooden walls with windows. If you ever do a search i would suggest using google. It tends to find things easier than the forum search engine. just make sure you put in the right keywords like "mod" and "FO4".
