  1. I have a question. I'm very interested in your setup and am already using a few of the mods you suggested. But can you incorporate ENBoost with this setup? From what i understand off it, ENBoost is there to help Skyrim handle all your mods as they keep adding to the workload of the engine. So if i use more mods, then ENBoost is there to help out and prevent your system from crashing down. If i'm wrong, our if you have a solution, i'm very interested
  2. Usually, and that is very carefully intended, you can just install the DLC and go check on your mods pages to see if there is any patch/update/additional file needed. So i would recommend that you make a copy of your savegames and then check all your mod pages to see if you need to download anything additional.
  3. Quick update! Did try to remove my ENB's but because i did that around 1 am, i must have done something terrible wrong 'cause Skyrim was not working anymore. My backup was also missing so i decided to start fresh again. A new install by Steam has been made, i got NMM back up and running and SKSE updated and ready to roll. Did some searching in Gopher's vids to make sure i didn't forgot anything for the basic set up and now i'm slowly adding mods again. While doing that, i was looking at some "music" mods. I had Sounds of Skyrim installed (The Wild, Dungeons and Civilization) and that is a lovely mod. But i'm also looking at Audio Overhaul for Skyrim. Anybody here that has experience with the 2 mods and can comment on the differences? Thanks and now back to checking my mod list
  4. Hey Zillawill, thanks for the info. If this makes it so that NMM doesn't remember anything about the mods i installed but that they are still available on my pc for installing again after the fresh Skyrim install, then yes, this is the info i wanted (very very long sentence, sorry  ) So again, thanks!
  5. Hey people! I have to admit that it is my own fault. By trying out different ENB's and mods, i finally got my Skyrim so ******ed up that it came to a grinding halt. Now i'm considering a complete removal and clean install. I have been reading about how to get a clean version and that should not be a problem, as i usually clean up my pc after i uninstalled a game. But i want to keep my long list of mods save somewhere. So how do i do that? I have NMM installed and all my mods are added with that, so i have a complete list. After reading on the forums, i think i have found a way to save me from downloading all the mods again. But i'm not sure that i'm correct so i turn to this wonderfull community. My idea is that i use NMM to "uninstall" all my mods, so that all the plugins are deactivated. Then i remove Skyrim with Steam, delete my folders (including in My Games) but keep my hands off NMM. I think this will make sure that all the mods are still on my pc but there are no trace logs from previous installed mods. So after i then reinstalled Skyrim, i can just re-activate my mods through NMM and be ready to game again. Is this right? Thanks for any help
  6. So much information, so little time to read it all..... but i'm holding on  And now i'm gonna ask a very very dangerous question. What do you think is the best ENB considering my allready nice mod list and the fact that i should be able to "play" the game instead of waiting for the next "slide" to appear. ( you get what i'm meaning). So what is your suggestion? Allready interested in RealVision ENB and Project ENB. But more suggestions are always welcome! Also, is an ENB needed? I mean, they have wonderful things out there but there is always the performance hit. So could you get "almost" the same result with just a mod or 2??
  7. You don't need to uninstall whole game. Just check your old enb download folder (should be .rar or .zip file, open it) find those files in your skyrim folder (you can use explorer quick search function). Then just delete them manually. PS: You can just copy your whole skyrim folder into your store drive as backup, if you're scared of messing something up. Also save your ini files (Documents / My Games / Skyrim) in case you want to play with that too. @BlackRose; yea, stuppid me, was not thinking when i posted that one. Sorry  I did this in the past when i was trying out ENB's, so i have the zip file on standby. I also did a complete clean backup back then with no mods or anything else so if the worst comes to be, i can just delete all and replace with the clean backup. Now i'm gonna read some stuff and check out some ENB to see how they improved since the last time i went looking  @Rusey; it is a difficult decision, RLO or ELFX. Both look great, both have their problems. It's gonna need some more time before i decide for real.
  8. Oh boy! Even more things to read up on.... But now i have a little problem. I know i have installed ENBoost but what will happen if i want another ENB (with a newer version offcourse)? Do i need to get the old one out before i do and if so, how the hell am i gonna find all the files that are needed to be deleted? I don't know if there is a simple solution to this, and i really hope that i don't have to completely delete Skyrim because i'm not looking forward to install everything again (specially the mods, as they have taken already more time then "playing the game" has). So simply, do i need to remove ENBoost before i slide in a new ENB and is there an easy way to find all the files that must go before i install the new one? PS Thanks again for all the help
  9. Once more, thanks for all the good tips and suggestions people! @ArtMurder: thanks for so many good idea's! I'm not gonna implement everything but i'm thankful for your sharing. And maybe in the future i try the Requiem Overhaul. @BlackRoseOfThorns: Did some reading and watched a movie about RND and thanks to your positive input, i'm downloading that one right now. Added Drinking Fountains after your mentioning that one (never heard about it before) ELFX or RLO, still not decided but i got ELFX on my 'check out' list. I need more info and gonna do some reading about the differences before i pull out RLO and replace it with ELFX. And yes, my list is only growing at the moment  But it's a good thing. Some are new mods for me, others will replace mods i have installed right now. We will see what happens in a few days after i decided on everything and start playing the game. @Rusey: i thank you for the warning. I understand that the game engine can only handle a certain amount before the whole thing comes down like a blasted building. So i will be careful when adding more scripting mods and try them out one at the time before adding to much to handle. As a summary, this is what i'm doing right now: - switching from UFO to AFT - found me another nice graph mod: aMidianBorn Imperial Forts that is gonna be added to The List  - added Drinking Fountains - downloaded Duel - Combat Realism V5 (not hardcore yet, my gaming skills are not up for that  ) - adding Realistic Needs and Diseases - looking for some nice followers to add (thanks BlackRose for pointing that out for me) So i have my work and will continue to check and improve. Any more suggestions are welcome. Also, if you have the "Ultimate" texture pack that combines all in a single mod, please, share! I have a large amount of graphic mods and the more mods you have, the more change there is to get a conflict. Thanks people for your time and your help!!
  10. @MagusMac; well, it's more like 60 mods and if i use the NMM and look at the number of plugins, i have 86 active plugins. So maybe not your 200+ but still more then 20  And if you have any good suggestion from your list, share them please, as i'm looking forward to any new idea. @BlackRoseOfThorns; 1) will check out AFT since i'm starting a complete new game and my previous play-through was without any mods (i know, it sounds very sad) so no high level saves that could have any problem 2) RND is scaring me a bit, that is why i went for Basic Human needs. But since you seem to have experience with RND, i all ears to learn more about the differences and why you would suggest RND above BHN 3) Check! I indeed don't have any combat overhaul. Will look at your suggestions 4) Yep, all the mods i have listed are up to date at this point. But thanks for the heads up! 5) Another check! Will look them up on the Nexus and since i probably gonna switch from UFO to AFT (as it is more stable), there should be no problem or conflicts. Thanks for the great info and help! @chanchan05; i'm sorry that i didn't mention that. Offcourse i'm using BOSS, SKSE and TESVEdit for cleaning up some mods. Still learning about that and BOSS has some secrets for me as well, but i'm managing
  11. Hey people! I have played Skyrim a lot when it first came out and i loved the game a lot! Then i got into other games and put Skyrim on the side, not sure if i would come back again. But as with all good games, at some point i wanted to start again. Only, i was not interested in the same game so i start looking for mods and how to install them and stuff. I found the YouTube channel by Gopher and he introduced me to a lot of new things (NMM, BOSS, SKSE,....) and i was ready for a deep dive into the Nexus Mods. I did find a good amount of things that i liked, got them installed, all ready to start a new episode of Skyrim but then real life took over. Had some things to sort out, mainly work stuff and had some things regarding the kids that took almost all my spare time. So the only thing i did was keeping track of new mods and browsing the Nexus now and then. Things are all sorted out now in RL and i'm ready to dive in Skyrim. So i was updating my mods and then it hit me. I seem to have a lot of mods and i was wondering if i'm overdoing it. Could i get the same result with a few lesser mods? I'm gonna list you my mods, sorted and easy, and then i'm looking for some input from this great community. Are there mods that are obsolete? Can you recommend some replacements that shorten the list? Do you think i missed something essential? What i'm looking for is your opinion! So i'm aware that choosing the right mods is a personal thing and you don't need to point that out, i'm really interested in what you all think about my list and what you personaly would change if it was your list. I have Skyrim, the Hearthfire DLC, and i have ENBoost installed for the better performance. And now The List  Player home Deus Mons Evil lair of Hydra Riverside Lodge with sauna Val Lyrea Quests Alternate start (live another live) Falskaar Helgen Reborn Moonpath to Elsweyr Wyrmstooth Wisplicker Immersions Basic human needs Birds and flocks Guardian dialogue overhaul Hunterborn Immersive Armors Immersive beds Immersive first person view Immersive weapons Inconsequential NPC's Interesting NPC's Lanters of Skyrim all in one Natural eyes No NPC greetings Portable campsite Pumping iron Pure waters Realistic humanoid movement speed with horse speed modifiers Touring carriages Wearable lanterns Winter is coming Cloaks Graphics improving Book covers Skyrim aMidianBorn book of silence (Armors, creatures, unique items and weapons) aMidianBorn Landscape A quality world map Climates of Tamriel Detailed terrain en tree LoD Dimonized UNP female body Hybrid HD plants and herbs retexture Real girls realistic body texture Skyfalls and skymills (animated distant waterfalls, mills and both for Falskaar also) Skyrim HD 2K textures for dungeons, landscape, misc, towns and Riften Static Mesh Improvement mod (aka SMIM) The beauty of Skyrim Caves and mines + Dungeons Realistic lighting overhaul Better dynamic snow Better males Better torches Windmills resized Ruins clutter improved Others Belt-fastened quivers Convenient horses Item recycling Rich merchants SKSE scripts Sky UI Sounds of Skyrim (civilization, dungeons and wilds) The unofficial patches for Skyrim, the High resolution pack and Hearthfire Valdacils item sorting Ultimate follower overhaul (UFO) So that is the list, and now its up to you people! Let the comments poor in
  12. From what i've seen and have been reading, i don't think TESO will make a huge difference in MMO land. Is any game worth paying around 60 dollars for the box and then another 15 per month to play it? It's a difficult question but i would say.... no? I did play WoW and yes, that is still P2P, but they are losing subscriptions very fast the past year. And although they stated that WoW would never be F2P, i think it's only a matter of time before it will collapse. I played a lot Guild Wars 2 and that was a lovely deal. You buy the box for about 50-60 dollars (was 49 euro for me) and then you play as much or as little you want. No extra costs unless you decide to go to the ingame shop. And that is not NEEDED, it's a free choice. I stopped playing it for a while due to real life stuff and i can jump back in with no extra costs. Now if TESO would be a whole new MMO experience, i think they could support the monthly fees plus the box price. But i fear that it will be just another copy off the old mechanism and if that is the case, the game will become very boring very quickly. I truly hope that i'm wrong, that TESO will be a wonderful game that is worth every penny! But i'm still waiting to see if that is the case and the rumours are not promising. So that is why i don't think TESO is worth the monthly fee above the box price. If they would drop one of the two, i think they would get a lot more people interested.
  13. Mods are the main reason i still come back to Skyrim. What this community has created is more then any game company can dream to create. So indeed, thanks for all the great work you modders are doing for us, and i hope this will keep Skyrim alive for a long long time. Specially since they announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will be a MMO with a monthly sub. So i need Skyrim for my needed dose off Elder Scrolls  Thank you, thank you and thank you!!!
  14. This is the best thing in Skyrim, there is always something beyond the next hill. And it is also the reason why i still haven't finished the main storyline. I started Skyrim on a "not steam relying" version but had so much fun that i went all the way and bought the game on Steam. When counting both the games i have way over 300 hours in the game and still hungry for more. And since i have my new pc i have spent almost 100 hours on modding the game to get even more from it. Visuals, more quests, better (read "more immersive") gear,... there is no end to the amount off new or altered things you can add to this allready vast game.
  15. Same for me! There is always that little bit more to explore, another book that i didn't found or that is waiting for some nice quality time near the fireplace. I still have to finish the main story for the first time but there is always something to distract me from what i'm supposed to do :) And ofcourse the giant amount of mods that are here on the Nexus. How much my game changed since i found this site, i can't explain it!! It opened a world that i never imagined. I did some browsing with previous games but never got into modding like now. The easy acces and the great help on the forums made a big difference. And the wonderfull vids from Gopher on his Youtube channel, they make modding within reach of everybody. He explains it all so simply and "basic" that even a pc noob can follow the rules and start a whole new experience in an allready wonderfull game. Anyway, this is why i keep getting back into Skyrim and why i sometimes spend more time on The Nexus then ingame :D
  16. I'm a collector! So yes, i search EVERYTHING!! Dungeons are very hard for me because off all the stuff that is lying around. But.... this also means that i can't complete a dungeon in one run, and that breaks immersion. So i try to leave the "not good selling stuff" in place (clutter, cooking ingredients,....) and only burden myself with the more valuable stuff. I'm very happy that you have followers that you can pack with a nice amount of loot and also a horse can carry some :) So i still loot all bodies, search every little nook in every dungeon but at least i can complete a dungeon now without crumble under the sheer weight :D
  17. I'm wondering how it comes that you have to limit yourself to 30 mods? Did you had in that 30+ from previous setup some very demanding mods? Like ENB's and other mods that are know for dropping your FPS to the bottom? I'm running around 70-80 mods, including a ENB and have no problems so far. So i really wanted to know what your situation was like. Maybe we can find a solution to the problem and raise the limit off mods you can use
  18. Thanks for the info ZeroKing! Installing and playing again :)
  19. Hey people! I have a question about the 2 mods in the title. I have currently Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons installed. They are very very beautiful but now i stumbled on another mod, called aMidianBorn Book of Silence. This mod also has re-textured armors and weapons and a set of unique items. Now i'm wondering if i can use both mods together? Will the armors and weapons from Immersive be replaced with aMidians? Has anybody some idea? Thanks for everything!
  20. Just to be sure, you can choose in the NMM between the categories and the mods themselves. It is the last and second last button on the left if i'm not mistaken. But when i did choose categories, it did the same for me. No mods to be found but i still got all my mods running. Pressed the button again and there was my list back. If you do need to reinstall skyrim, a backup should help you preventing progress loss but i would suggest you also take a look at this webpage : http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#tab=Restore_Vanilla_Skyrim as it helps you preventing to have to download everything again. Check out the Restore Vanilla Skyrim tab and good luck!
  21. Mostly when you see screens from an ENB or any other graphics enhancement mod, you see a collection that is fine tuned to perfection. What i would recommend is to check out GophersVid (link: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CSCMwaDubQ4rcYCpX40Eg ) and if you are new to modding, check out the Beginners guide to modding skyrim playlist. That will help you setting the basics for a good picture. Then you can check out a few ENB's, or other mods that enhance the visuals in the game. But there is a massive amount out there to sift trough, so that is why i went to Gopher :)
  22. Hey ArtMurder, thanks for the tip. I did figured that part out myself, but the thing i'm was wondering is about the skyrim.ini and the skyrimprefs.ini files. Can you just deleted them and let the game make a new one? I think i have read something about that somewhere, but i'm not sure. If that is possible, then i just delete them, remove all the ENB stuff and start fresh again. Thanks for the help and i will check out the SweetFX stuff asap :)
  23. Hey everybody! I'm having a maybe strange question. I have installed an ENB and well, let's just say it doesn't provided the thing i needed. So I was thinking about removing the whole thing but there are so many files that have changed that i'm not totaly sure i can get all the needed ones deleted. I do have a backup from a bit earlier (clean with no ENB settings) but the tricky part is that i have installed other mods since that backup. I did this with the Nexus mod manager. Now my question is what will happen if i replace the complete SKyrim folder with the backup one? Will i have troubles with the mods that are installed after the backup? Or will the NMM handle the problem by installing the mods again or do i just simply need to install everything again from scratch? (hope that this is not the case because that can take quite some time) If anybody has an idea about this, please let's hear it! Thanks for your time.
  24. Yes, that is very true about the old binaries. I'm looking at your suggestion and it sounds very good. I'm gonna read all the info and see about trying it out. So thanks for the info and i'll get back here once i give it a try :) Another nice suggestion but there is 1 problem with this one. It is VERY demanding on any system and i'm looking for a ENB that is beautiful, yes, but i also want to be able to keep playing the game and don't kill my system :) So thanks for the idea but i'm gonna give this one a miss. Hey Jordan7890! Nice input for this discussion. The only problem i have with Project ENB is that it uses a very old binary and so you miss on all the improvements Boris did make to ENB-basic. So i removed that one with a bit off a tear but moved one to RealVision. Really great ENB and not too demanding on the system. I've played around with it and no big problems at all. The only thing that is bothering me is the very dark spots in dungeons when there is not light-source. As i mentioned earlier, this could be helped by installing another mod (keep forgetting the name but it makes it possible to wear a lantern on you gear, so you have a light-source and still can wield a sword and shield or so) or adjusting the settings of the ENB but that is a bit beyond my knowledge at the moment. So for now i'm looking at http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24235//? and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/40646/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D40646%26preview%3D&pUp=1 (oh my, long link  ) to see if any off those 2 can do what i want. As for the GopherVids, i'm a proud subscriber to that wonderful channel! This is one of the best channels i have found and he has a great voice. Also his take on teaching people how to mod and his very detailed explanations are a very welcome thing to the gaming community. Too many posters think you know all the stuff they have learned and just hit you with a lot of technical and speedy info that you just can't handle in the beginning. So thanks for your suggestions and your input here! Will be continued
  25. Hey to the new replies! Welcome and thanks for sharing your experiences. At the moment i'm running RealVision ENB and all is going well. The only thing that i'm looking to change is the pitch black spots in dungeons when there is no light source. One option is the mod that makes it possible to wear a lantern on your body. Another is trying to adjust the settings of the ENB but that is unfamiliar territory for me. And changing the setting maybe makes the outside world in full sunlight to bright. Time will tell  And i will check out the suggested ENB's for sure, maybe they do just the trick that i'm looking for!
